  1. Basically, Contrary Serperior and Speed Boost Blaziken, like everyone said. But I would replace Protean Greninja in that trio with Dragon Dance + Sheer Force + Life Orb Feraligatr. This thing is VERY scary if it's allowed to set up (and considering Feraigatr's good bulk, it most likely will). Greninja is great, but if you are using a special movepool (which most people do) it doesn't have a lot of options, its offensive stats aren't that great, and it doesn't have any way to naturally boost its stats. Infernape, Primarina, Delphox and Swampert are also pretty good. Also, if we're counting Mega Evolutions, either one of Charizard's are great.
  2. Huh, surprised to see Honedge become available. Figured the AI would have a bad time predicting King's Shield. That means that, if Silvally and Kommo-O lines become available, there's only one previously-unavailable-line left. Will it be Gyarados, Scizor or Garchomp? *drumrolls*
  3. @Hooligan Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Looker already appear in Reborn? Also, Shelly seems to imply that she's Bugsy's sister. But I agree that it would be weird to insert (more) canon characters in the game, since it's weird to think that those characters exist in the same R-Rated universe where characters like Corey, Sirius, Lin, Solaris, Cain, Saphira, Titania et al reside. Still, it would be pretty cool to be able to battle previous champions or key characters in the post-game. Also, I can totally see a post-game mission where Looker sends you to round up all the remaining Team Meteor members that escaped the final battle.
  4. There's also the Tyranitar line. Ame said in the Dev Blog there's one week left in the availability updates, meaning there's 14 lines to be changed. Considering only 8 of the currently unobtainable lines will be obtainable, that means there will be changes in six obtainable lines. Also, I noticed all the 1st stage Fossil Pokemon are available in the wild now. Makes me wonder if there's gonna be a "Lost World" area in the Tourmaline Desert.
  5. Primarina: with its great special stats and typing, is easily the best of the three. Only problem is, again, speed, and how to fill that fourth move slot (Hydro Pump/Surf + Moonblast + Misty Terrain + ?) Decidueye: is a little underwhelming performance-wise, because he has average speed, and not the biggest physical movepool. Not to mention that 100 base Special Attack is a waste, since not only no one uses that Special Attack, but Decidueye doesn't learn by lvl up any special moves! Most people who use Decidueye will use the same set (Swords Dance + Spirit Shackle + Leaf Blade + Sucker Punch), and that doesn't cover a lot of Pokemon, not to mention Swords Dance is not yet available in Pokemon Reborn, so you are gonna have to rely on its natural unboosted Attack during most of the game (if not until the post-game), which would not be so bad if it were a little faster. Incineroar: has easily the most useful hidden ability of the three, great Attack and lvl up movepool, good bulk, but is also the slowest fire starter. Also, I personally dislike using physical fire types, since their most reliable STAB move gives recoil (at least Emboar and Blaziken have Heat Crash and Blaze Kick). But honestly, if you know how to use them (or is just stubborn enough), you can make any starter work in Pokemon Reborn. There are arguably more underwhelming starters than those three, and people use them just fine.
  6. If at least some of the Z-Crystals are obtainable before the city restoration in the new version, I'm pretty curious about how that is gonna work for people who just update their version to E17 and start from there as opposed to people who will do a new run of the game. Will it work like the PULSE Dex and the Field Notes, which were added automatically for people who updated from E15 to E16, or are they gonna be available in side quests regardless of the city restoration?
  7. Dratini, Deino and Larvitar are a given, since they are all hidden behind Rock Climb (and there's no way we're getting access to Dragonite before facing Saphira, considering her Field Effect), and so is Bagon, since Moxie Salamence is too OP, and it makes no sense to find Bagon in a desert. Kommo-O has a ton of weaknesses, and the boosts given to it in USUM are not implemented yet in the game, so I think it's safe to assume that it's gonna be available. The only two left are in these lines: Gyarados, Garchomp, Aegislash, and Scizor. I think the Gible line may be in this episode, since Garchomp doesn't have access to Earthquake, Rock Slide or Stone Edge by lvl up (although the Tourmaline Desert might be as good place as any to find some of these TMs).
  8. I found out about Reborn when I was googling Pokemon fangames with Mega Evolutions (which is hilarious, in hindsight) and found a screenshot of one of the PULSE pokemon (I think it was Muk). While I wasn't sure about the "edginess" at first, it eventually won me over, and it's the only Pokemon fangame I actually enjoy and have played from start to "finish". Wish I could remember the point I realized "... I'm not getting Mega Evolutions, am I? :c"
  9. Honestly, if you give them a chance, you will find most of Gen. VII pokemon are actually pretty great. My only problems with this generation is that most of the pokemon are not particularly fast, and I'm not a big fan of the pseudo-legendary line (or the starters, for that matter). Anyway, here are my recommendations: Mimikyu - Cute concept, great ability (basically a free Substitute), good movepool and stats. Drampa - I like his weird design, has good abilities in Berserk and Sap Sipper, diverse movepool and sky-high Special Attack Turtonator - Don't like using it very much (too defensive), but is has an interesting movepool and typing, and is based on a Mata-Mata! (Chelus fimbriatus) Silvally - I don't think it's very good, because it's way too balanced to be useful, but it has a really cool design, and it can be used as whatever type you feel like. Vikavolt - Awesome design, good movepool, and sky-high special attack. Only problem is that it's really slow, specially for a Bug and Electric type. Lycanroc - I prefer the midday form, because it's faster and it has a Rock-type priority move, but midnight has an awesome design, with always-accurate Stone Edge Wishiwashi - really cool concept, good movepool, and insane stats. Watch out for hits, though Alola-Ninetales - Really fast, and acces to Aurora Veil can make Snow Warning work even if your team is not a Hail team. Salazzle - One of the few fast pokemon in this Generation, has a great unique ability and typing. Just remember to catch a female Salandit. Alola-Exeggutor - Come on, this thing is hilarious. Also, it has good offensive stats and movepool
  10. My guesses are Sablenite, Slowbronite, Aggronite, and Altarianite, since they would be among the less OP (at least offensively) Mega Evolutions remaining. About the Mega Ring, I think we might get IT before the post-game, since Amethyst already considered (albeit briefly) giving it to us in E16. Also, story-wise, it would make sense for a supporting character to give the MC one, since, you know, the fate of the whole region is at stake. Maybe we could get it before facing PULSE Clawitzer or before facing the E4. As for locations, it doesn't need to be only in the Desert. There could also be Mega Stones in the Underwater houses (if we can get the rest of their keys).
  11. Not really, though. RKS System is actually a liability, since it can't use a held item (unless you wanna run it as a Normal type), and it's a classic case of "too balanced to be actually useful". Silvally doesn't really shine in any offensive stat, and while its speed stat is good, there's a lot of threatening Pokemon that can outrun it. At the point we are in the game, there's a lot of better pokemon than Silvally in each type. Honestly, other than having a really cool design (apparently Reborn is gonna have custom designs for each type!) and lore as a "Beast Killer", there's not much reason to have a Silvally on your team. Also, Amethyst said that by E17, only 6 non-legendary lines will be unavailable, and I doubt Type:Null will be one of them, considering the competition (unless it's story-relevant).
  12. @GS BALL That's not really a glitch, though, right? Otherwise I'm gonna feel bad about all the stuff that I farmed from the clown with my Mr. Mime
  13. I'm probably gonna do a new run with Sandbox Mode (so I don't have to go to the trouble of training new Pokemon from scratch), just to see what has changed. Not gonna abandon my Main Game savefile though, I'm too attached to it.
  14. Hi, in-game HMs already work just like TMs. You don't need to go to a Move Deleter or HM slaves, just teach your pokemon the HM you need to use, and once you don't need it anymore, teach it anything over the HM move.
  15. Sorry to kind of resurrect an old topic, but I've been thinking about this again, and I didn't want to start a new topic. I have new guesses about the available Pokemon: Definitely in: Ferrothorn, Skarmory, Talonflame and Gengar lines. Ferrothorn and Skarmory are a given, since it's the Desert. Talonflame and Gengar lines were severely nerfed in Gen. VII (also, Gengar doesn't have the best lvl up movepool in the world, and we already have access to Alakazam, who has better stats than Gengar). Definitely out: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Hydreigon and Salamence lines. Dratini, Larvitar and the 3rd Dark Material are all only accessible with Rock Climb (which I'm pretty sure we will only be able to use after Hardy), so I think it's safe to say they're out. The Salemence line is too powerful (Moxie), and it doesn't make any sense to find a Bagon in the desert. So that would be four lines that are unquestionably inaccessible in E17. Who knows: Scizor, Garchomp, Gyarados and Aegislash lines. Between these four, I really can't pinpoint wich ones will be obtainable or not. It would make sense to find Gible in the Desert, and, like Gengar, Garchomp has a lackluster lvl up movepool (no Earthquake and no Rock move), although the Tourmaline Desert is as good place as any to find the TM for Earthquake, or at least Rock Slide. It doesn't make sense to find Scyther in the desert, but it may be the reward for a sidequest involving Titania (she's DEFINITELY using a Mega Scizor). Honedge could be found in a ghost-themed area in the desert (like in B/W 2), or in an area with abandoned trains, but honestly, Aegislash is as OP as any pseudo-legendary, and it has King's Shield, a broken move that I'm pretty sure the AI won't be able to hand. Now, about Gyarados, I really don't know. We are pretty late in the game, there's only E18 left, and then the final episode, which will be the Elite Four, final boss, and the post-game. Even with Moxie, I don't know if it still matters how powerful it is. It's going to be of no particular use against Titania (unless we get the TM for Earthquake), Amaria will probably have more than one Pokemon with Thunderbolt and Freeze-Dry, Hardy will probably have more than one Pokemon with Sturdy that could revenge kill Gyarados with Stone Edge (also, considering how bad defensively the Rock type is, and how many Pokemon we already have available, I don't think any of these four lines will make a difference against him), and by the point we face Saphira, regardless of how difficult she is supposed to be, we'll probably already have access to all non-legendary pokemon in the game (the development team said the idea is to have all non-legendary lines available before the E4). We know Courin Rouge is somewhere in the Tourmaline Desert with our prized Magikarp, and the gag has gone for too long (although that may very well be the reason to keep it going for one more episode). Honestly, I think it's kinda of silly to keep almost all pseudo-legendaries to E18
  16. @FairFamily @seki108 You're right, my bad. I only got mine after Ciel, so I figured the Helix Cult door was locked until we got back to Reborn. If I knew that I would have got one earlier
  17. I honestly think it's a simple case of "leave him/her/xem to me". I think Lin knows the protagonist will soon grown into a worthy opponent, and actually wants him/her/xem to get stronger because she is looking forward to facing us in battle in the end, because being so powerful without anyone to oppose you must get boring. If you think about it, Lin is kinda of a evil version of the player character: young(ish), strong, mysterious, a person of few words (while the MC is a mute protagonist, he can clearly speak as implied by some dialogues, just chooses not to for most of the time), and got from bottom to the top below everyone's noses, eventually beating her surperiors (in our case, the Gym Leaders). Also, I don't think she killed the champion because she thought Ame was a threat, it was probably just for kicks and to inspire terror. I remember Amethyst saying somewhere that in-game Ame was not a particularly strong Champion, and just took the job because she was the one who organized the league in the first place, and a league needs a champion.
  18. @Filthy CasualOkey dokey. Also, surprised no one did this yet: Gardevoir - A or S Rank + Great Special Attack and Special Defense + Good offensive typing + Learns its strongest STAB attacks by lvl up (Moonblast and Psychic) + Trace and Synchronise are useful + Available after Aya (relatively early) + The Ralts you rescue counts as a traded 'mon, so it gets boosted EXP, which counters its low lvl up rate + Probably the best special-oriented 'mon of either of its types in-game (rivalling Togekiss on the Fairy side) +/- Good/workable speed - Bad physical bulk and HP - We don't have access to most of its coverage moves yet (Focus Blast, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball)
  19. Tyrantrum - B rank + Great lvl up movepool (Earthquake, Head Smash, Dragon Claw, Crunch, Stealth Rock, Rock Slide) + Good in-game substitute for Garchomp, since Gible isn't available, and Garchomp doesn't have acces to Earthquake, a Rock move, or a boosting move unless by TM. + Can get Dragon Dance by breeding + Rock Head allows Tyrantrum to abuse Head Smash with impunity + Good physical bulk (119) - Only accessible post Ciel - Pretty slow (71), needs Dragon Dance to do real damage to bosses - Awful special bulk (59) - While it doesn't have a 4x weakness, it's still weak to a bunch of stuff. Goodra - A or B rank + Great special bulk + Can be a physical, special, or mixed attacker + Good on rain teams (Hydration and Sap Sipper) + Gooey makes it useful to cripple a foe's physical sweeper, and then revenge kill it. +/- Decent speed (80) - Only available post Adrienn - Bad physical bulk (70) - Slow leveling rate - Can be a pain to evolve, since it depends on rain in the overworld
  20. Fixed. Thanks. For some reason I thought we got a Snivy (I went for the Goomy). I guess Froakie, Snivy and Torchic are only gonna be obtainable through sidequests in episode 18 or 19, being the most OP starters and all that. There are four left actually. Titania's gym is in the Tourmaline Desert, and we're going after her because of the bracelet (also the Badge, obviously). Hardy's gym is up in Agate City, which is still under the sleeping spell, so it's safe to say we are only battling him in E18. Also, a few more tips: - Check out the Mosswater Market in Peridot Ward (if you haven't already). There are really useful Move Tutors there, along with items that help in EV training. - Max out your cash, either by facing the Indra Clown in the circus or the trainers in the Grand Hall, and spend on useful stuff (medicine, pokeballs, rare candy, common candy, PP ups, EV items, evolution items, Blue Moon Ice Cream, whatever you want), because Ame is going to "fix" that "money issue" on E17. Meaning that we are either gonna get less money from battling, or those battles are gonna be limited. - It's a good idea to stock up on Rotation Pokemon before the new episode arrives, especially Fire, Ground, Grass, Electric and Dragon types (in Saphira's case). - Like other people said, try to read the Field Effects to better prepare for the battles. Especially the two Water and the Dragon's Den Field Effects.
  21. Look for Dive or Waterfall spots you couldn't use before going to Agate City, especially the ones around Apophyll Beach. Like Zargeth said, the sidequest that first comes to mind is the City Restoration Project. You need to go to the Grand Hall and talk to a person on the counter to donate to one of the projects, and depending which project you donate to, different rewards will be available: - If you restore the railnet, you get an Assault Vest, a Steelixite and a Togepi egg. - If you restore the Azurine Center, you get a Chimchar egg. Also, Bulbasaur, Pinsir and Heracross are gonna be found in the grass on Azurine Island. - If you restore the Obsidia Slums, someone is going to give you a key to a room in the Water Treatment Center. In that room, after a puzzle, you get a Goomy. There's also the Chrysolia Springs puzzle; you can go to the Tanzan Cove and talk to a fisherman there, and he is gonna give you the Super Rod (that's specially useful, since if you use a Super Rod in Tazan Cove you can find Luvdiscs with Heart Scales); you can "finish" the Magikarp sidequest; there are a few events that give you a starter pokemon (like Treecko, Charmander, Mudkip, Oshawott, etc); there's a sidequest in Ametrine that gives you a Riolu egg, etc. Basically, go exploring everywhere and talk to everyone.
