  1. In this game, you'll have to sometimes train a specific Pokemon that you don't particularly want just for a specific gym (for example, having to train a Makuhita/Hariyama to beat the 2nd Gym's ace pokemon). I recommend always having a full team of 6 members, even though you will constantly have to replace them. Also, I don't really recommend for you to be constantly pining for a specific Pokemon, because a lot of "quality Pokemon" are only available fairly late into the game. Magikarp, for example, is only obtainable after 14 gym badges, Ralts after 13, etc. I recommend you look beforehand into guides to find out just when your desired Pokemon will be available in-game.
  2. I read somewhere that Amethyst said in a Q&A that Cal is a closet case, so things between him and Victoria wouldn't have worked out regardless of him briefly siding with Team Meteor. As for Hardy's team, I would bet he will have a Lycanroc-Dusk. I also doubt his mega will be a Mega-Tyranitarite, considering how much of a sitting duck that thing is to Fighting types. I would bet in a Mega-Aerodactyl.
  3. You can teach it Icy Wind through Move Tutors. It's a decent placeholder until the TM for Ice Beam becomes available.
  4. So, as we all know, TMs and move tutors are a rare commodity in Pokemon Reborn (that is, until very late in the game), which ends up crippling and/or restricting the movepool of a lot of Pokemon (Empoleon, for example). With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting - especially for new players - to list the Pokemon lines that have great or self-sufficient movepools by leveling up alone. I will start by naming a few: Flygon - Rock Slide, Dragon Claw, Earthquake and Dragon Dance through move reminder. Blaziken - Blaze Kick, Flare Blitz, High Jump Kick and Bulk Up Swampert - Earthquake, Rock Slide and Hammer Arm (and Muddy Water too, if you don't mind it mixed) Octillery - Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Signal Beam, Bullet Seed, and Rock Blast and Gunk Shot through move reminder Golurk - Shadow Punch, Earthquake, Dynaminc Punch, Heavy Slam It would also be cool to name the contrary: Pokemon lines that are crippled throughout most of the game by the absence of some TMs or Move Tutors
  5. Cool, their bios remind me of the Pokemon Special/Adventures manga. What would be their teams?

    Hopes For E18

As of E17, it has been replaced with the Decidueye line. A bad change, I think most people will agree.
  7. Stuff I like: - A lot of quality-of-life improvements: This is easily my favorite aspect of Pokemon Reborn. I love how easy and accessible it is for the player to customize their Pokemons Nature and Abilities, and that you can actually see their individual IVs. Also, while HMs are still necessary for the overworld puzzles, they work just like TMs, making our life much easier by not having to carry a HM slave everywhere with us. - The Field Effects: they really set the game apart, and can be as fun as obnoxious (in a good way). It's always interesting to learn how a new field effect can affect your battling strategies. - The increased difficulty: I hate how the main Pokemon games are always holding your hand, and seem afraid to give the player a genuine challenge. Reborn has none of that, with a level cap that stops you from getting over-leveled; full six-on-six battles; and trainers with teams built to take advantage of the field effect in which they are fought. - The characters: while there are some I really don't like (namely Terra, Titania, Amaria, Heather and Lin), I still like a lot of the characters, and it's always fun to see them return after a brief absence in the main story. - The music: GlitchxCity's remixes are awesome and really give the game its own feel. Stuff I don't like: - The overall story and pacing: easily the biggest detriment to my enjoyment of the game. The story can get unnecessarily busy with the insane amount of characters and subplots. That, coupled with the one-year-wait between episodes, can make Pokemon Reborn kind of hard to follow. - Environment puzzles: I appreciate the effort put into them, but I just don't care much for most of them. Most of them are annoying and dull to get through (although, granted, that's precisely the point). - The tone: Pokemon and heavy themes really don't mix well. Whenever the game dabbles into a heavy theme like murder, sexuality or suicide, it always comes to my mind the image of Shadow the hedgehog holding a machine gun from that silly solo game. Mixed feelings: - The atmosphere: during the beginning of the game, the whole atmosphere can get too dark and oppressing to a point where it doesn't really feel like a Pokemon game, which initially put me off from playing further in my first playthrough. With that said, I like how it gradually evolves into a more traditional Pokemon atmosphere when you leave Reborn City with the Orphanage kids, and after you return to Reborn and the city has been rebuilt, the game finally starts feeling like a proper Pokemon game (with the occasional downer moment).
  8. This... doesn't make any sense at all. Sigmund used electroshock therapy on Saphira and her sisters. How does one recover from that? I think that was just a jab at how, in fandom, people like to ship two characters merely because they had a minor meaningless interaction, or because "they hate each other! THAT MEANS THEY MUST BE IN LOVE"
  9. Mega Pinsir is probably the best Mega as of yet, especially if you breed Close Combat into it. If you can get Moxie going before mega evolving, it can do some pretty serious damage. If I recall, even the devs regretted making Pinsirite available so "early" to the players.
  10. Considering the MC is supposed to be at least of legal age, I think that would exclude a lot of other characters.
  11. Probably: Manectite - huge special attack and speed, but it doesn't have a lot of coverage outside of Hidden Power Venusaurite - Doesn't have the same huge offensive stats as the other starter megas (At first I thought maybe Sceptilite too, because it doesn't have a great special coverage, but it would be too OP against Saphira, since it outspeeds every other dragon pokemon and Dragon Pulse is boosted by the field effect). Maybe: Slowbronite - great special attack and monstrous defenses, but it's slow and has an useless ability. Also, Slowbro doesn't have natural access to Ice Beam. Altarianite - not that offensively threatening without access to Earthquake. Aerodactylite - really fast, but it's also really frail and has a lot of common weaknesses. It has a great attack stat, but it's nowhere near of the other physical mega evolutions. Although it might be Hardy's Mega I'm also thinking the devs might let us have the mega stones for the legendaries just to troll us.

    Hopes For E18

Amethyst already confirmed it would only be one Gym Leader for E18 (can't remember if it was on the development blog or twitter, but she did). E19 will be Saphira + E4 + Final Boss + Post-game.

    Hopes For E18

A few of the remaining low-key mega stones (with maybe one or two random OP mega stones in the mix), a lot more Z-Crystals (seriously, we are near the end of the game and we only have two), access to the eleventh floor and penthouses of the department store, and one or two good TMs. We know we are probably gonna get Rock Slide from Hardy, but I would like either Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt or Ice Beam too. Ice Beam might be a tad unrealistic, but we are getting access to the remaining parts of Ametrine Mountain with Rock Climb, and it would make sense to find the TM for Ice Beam there. Also, a wrap-up of the remaining Pokemon released by Corey. Also, I really want this episode to have a lot more story-heavy content than E17, and for it to start wrapping up the storylines of a few characters. I would also love to finally have that final rematch with Solaris. Characters I want to see returning: Hardy (a given), Aya, Charlotte, Laura, Cain, Solaris, Sirius, Florinia, Taka (for the Zekrom path), Victoria, DJ-Arclight and Shelly. Characters I don't want to see returning: Terra (hate that character so much); and Titania & Amaria. Those two already had waaay too much focus, and I'm not really invested in their little soap opera, especially considering there's much larger things happening. I'm glad I took the Zekrom path, that means that I'm probably not gonna have to put up with Titania in the near future.
  15. Terra, Titania, Lin and Saphira, in that order. Terra, because her "breaking-the-fourth-wall" humor is extremely obnoxious. It would be fine if she was an one-note side character, but from the looks of things, she apparently has some sort of mysterious connection with Lin, which means that she's eventually gonna come back. Not looking forward to seeing her again. Titania and Saphira, for the same reason. They are two unhinged edge lords who murder Grunts left and right. Titania more than Saphira, because at least Saphira has an understandable background and motive, she was actively protecting the perimeter around her family's home. Titania killing those grunts amounted to nothing, since they were already beaten, and she was just venting personal anger at them. Also, she has a mentality to shoot first and ask questions later, which I do not condone. Lin because I hate the kind of cliched villain she represents, the shonen villain who is cold and powerful and loves to give big speeches about how "family and friends are useless, and all that matters is true power". I would have preferred if Solaris was kept as the main villain of the game, since we meet him fairly early in the game, and the game does a great job establishing him as a threat that needs to be stopped, while Lin comes out of nowhere fairly late in the game. I can't really dislike asshole characters like Fern, Blake or Sirius, because they were clearly tailor-made to be "hateable", so I can't really take any of them seriously.
  16. Thanks for the answers, especially to @blackw. If I ever get into modding, I'll try that. I know that Ash-Greninja will never be implemented in the proper game, hence why I asked about it in the mod section. Still, as a Greninja user in-game, I hope someday there will be a Reborn version of Ash-Greninja, maybe with its own color scheme and renamed Reborn-Greninja (which actually would be a much better name). My idea would be for it to be the reward for completing the post-game and the Pokedex (including the Legendaries), and then it could be transferred if the player started a New Game. Again, just wishful thinking.
  17. So, question from a non-modder to resident modders: is it possible to implement Ash-/Battle Bond Greninja in Pokemon Reborn?
  18. Honestly, I think the community is waaay too hard on her. She is supposed to be like Calem/Serena in XY, or Hau in Sun/Moon: she always tries her best, but no matter how hard she tries, she will never catch up to the PC, because PC (which, if you think about it, is actually kind of sad). I actually really like her. Considering the sheer amount of weird and histrionic characters scattered throughout Reborn (including the two other rivals), I think it's refreshing to interact with someone who's more down-to-earth. Though I guess that's one of the reasons most people don't care for her. I remember being genuinely sad when she revealed she wasn't going to be able to travel throughout Reborn anymore, and being happy when she returned in E16. And saying that she doesn't do anything in the story is a huge stretch, considering she's as responsible for the restoration of Reborn as Adrienn. With that said, she really does need a bit more spotlight in the next episodes, which I hope we get.
  19. In my main Reborn save, I usually like to end fights with Tyrantrum. Dragon Dance and Head Smash + Rock Head makes it really dangerous, and it has a really cool and simple design (it's basically a T. rex with an elderly king motif, what's not to like?). But like most people here, I don't really have an overall signature Pokemon, it depends on which game I'm playing.
  20. I basically just try to muscle my way through it. If it doesn't work, I take a note about what I did wrong or what's the advantage the boss has, soft-reset, and counter it. The only Gym Leaders I actually had prepared a strategy for were Titania and Amaria. While waiting for E17, I trained a bunch of Pokemon to counter their possible teams/fields (like a Lapras with Freeze-Dry and a Sceptile to counter Amaria), but I was only able to put my strategies to work with Amaria. Since there were no PC's nearby when you fight Titania, I had to muscle through her with my normal team, and actually beat her with only two "casualties". I have some counters prepared for Saphira's Dragon Den field, but I usually just try to beat trainers normally with my main team (the trainers where that didn't work were Aya, Charlotte, Ciel, Adrienn, and Blake, my main team tends to perform badly in Double Battles).
  21. I think a fanmade manga in the vein of Pokemon Special/Adventures would be much more feasible than an anime. As for the main character's team: - Starter: probably a Water type, since Fern and Victoria have a Grass and Fire starter, respectively (yes, Cain has the respective Water starter, but it's not his main Pokemon). I think Greninja fits Reborn the most (hence why I picked it on my main playthrough) - Other slots would probably be filled with Reborn's MVP: Magnezone, Arcanine, Gardevoir, and Mamoswine/Flygon. - For the final slot, I think the protagonist would want to honor Corey by having one of his Pokemon on his main team, and his Crobat would be the most fitting. - Alternatively, one of the slots could be filled with one of the Mystery Egg Pokemon, or maybe even Ame's Absol, which you can get.
  22. Cool! Let me do some: Primarina - A or S-Rank + Starter, available right out of the bat; + Good typing, offensively and defensively; + Great Special stats; + Gets access to Moonblast, Hydro Pump, Sparkling Aria, Icy Wind and Misty Terrain through lvl up; - Underwhelming abilities; - Slow, like most Gen VII mons; - Bad physical defense. Incineroar - A Rank, I think? Might even be S Rank + Starter; + Useful ability in Intimidate; + Great bulk and Attack; + Great lvl up movepool (Darkest Lariat, Flare Blitz, Cross Chop, Outrage, and Bulk Up through Move Relearner), and great coverage through TMs and Move Tutors; + Workable Special Attack; - Slow, like most Gen VII mons. In fact, it has the slowest Speed stat out of all the Fire starters final forms; - Like most physical fire types, its best fire move (Flare Blitz) gives recoil. [E17 SPOILERS]
  23. Wow, nice catch! I was wondering what those random Pokeballs were. Speaking of morbid details, one I noticed in this episode is
  24. [SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 17] Personally, I'm kind of on the fence about her. On the plus side, she is definitely intimidating, and every time she appears (well, at least in this and the last episode) there's a definite shift in the atmosphere, and you know things are about to get ugly. Problem is, Lin is a pretty generic and unimposing name for a villain; there's already a green-haired Pokemon villain whose ace is Hydreigon; and the first time she appears is fairly late in the game, and at that point she comes out of nowhere ("oh, there's this random person here, she's the true leader of Team Meteor. We know we built up Solaris throughout the whole game, but he's actually second-in-command, xoxo"). Also, personality-wise, she is kinda like a generic Shounen anime/manga final villain (cold, powerful and goes on and on about how feelings and friends are useless and all that matters is true power), while Solaris feels more like an actual Pokemon villain (only more remorseless and pragmatic). Also, the mystery about Lin's true identity and motives is scary to me, but for the wrong reasons: I fear it's gonna be something silly and over-the-top (like the "Adult-Lin-is-a-robot-controlled-by-Child-Lin" theory). Overall, while I don't hate her, and I'm looking forward to beating that Hydreigon and whatever else she has, I feel the game would be much better and consistent if Solaris was kept as the main villain :/
