  1. I am legitimately fed up with Rejuv chapter 2's cavalcade of incredibly hard multi battles. What am I supposed to do? Grind to cap before doing any story content????

Every time, without fail, if I send out a mon other than Marshtomp I lose it that turn.

Like I get that this is supposed to be Reborn difficulty, and this is a lot like Zel/Taka difficulty, but! that was one fight! Not Three! I just want to get exp on my team, dammit!!!

Edit: on reflection, I probably should have just come back after the gym. The stolen cargo fight featured mons up to level 28.

I'm guessing you might've already figured it out, but in case you haven't...

I'll let you know that this game is designed for you to have a full team of battle-ready pokemon pretty much at all times, at least for when you're progressing in any way where pokemon battles can happen.  The fact that HMs can be forgotten for other moves without needing a move deleter means that having a Bibarel is amazing as Bibarel can learn any and all HMs except Fly, which is okay because the game gives you multiple ways to get around without needing Fly. (You probably only have access to the guy with the truck/car right now though.) So if you need HMs for progression then Bibarel allows you to maintain good movesets for the rest of your pokemon.  Bibarel also learns headbutt so it can do that to trees and such though I haven't found a notable use that I can remember at the moment.

The Exp. All should be your top priority item to get from redeeming Achievement Points, at least in my opinion.  Naturally, it allows you to EXP train/grind multiple pokemon at once, but it also lets you EV train/grind multiple pokemon at once.  Speaking of EXP, once you get access to the first Audino trainer/breeder, you'll find level grinding to be much easier, especially with the Exp. All and a reliable way to 1-hit KO those Audinos. (I used a Sawk.) I believe that the first Audino trainer/breeder is in Goldenleaf Town.

I personally got the EV Room Cards next, because to hell with it if it's possible to get them later in the game once you have multiple HMs and access to the areas where they are.  I'd like to have the pokemon I plan on using to have their EVs done and ready to go, so that down the line, when average levels are in the 40s and up, I don't have to go and catch replacements, because the pokemon I were using needed EVs from rooms I didn't have access to at the time, so they ended up with random ass EV spreads that will hamper their endgame potential. it just made sense to get access to the rooms ASAP so I could really start banging out the EV spreads I wanted and not have to keep so many potentially useful Pokemon in the PC.  So I'd say go EV Room Cards next after the Exp. All, but you're free to do as you please.

I actually did get the exp all in order to grind to 25 for Keta I. I skipped the audino in favor of the fletchinder and Kricketune in Sheridan Arena, so I could get more attack and speed EVs.

I may get the special stat EV card next, but I'm also thinking about saving up for the Golden Axe. Nothing on my team rn learns cut, so I've been lugging around this Dugtrio through most of chapter 3. I should definitely EV train it, but rn Marshtomp is kinda all the ground I need. I had been excited to add Zangoose to my team, but it doesn't learn cut for some ungodly reason. I might actually pick up a bibarel for this game. I guess Reborn is just really light on hm use compared to rejuv; now that I think about it, most of reborn city only uses hms for bonus areas, like the rock Smash bits under the grand staircase.

To answer your earlier point, I think "battle ready" means something different in c2 rejuv than c2 reborn. As I said in my other post, I would have been pretty comfortable taking my initial Keta I team right into Florina. I think another part of it is that the game takes into account that you may just buy the exp all right as c2 starts, meaning all the double battles are made with Max level mons in mind.

You should be able to get a Bidoof from Gearen City and evolve it into Bibarel for HMs. (Really like did you not come across one?  I came across like 50.)

Personally I don't think the Golden items are that useful as early in the game as you are.  The story does sometimes require you to have an HMs handy for progression, but from what I recall, the game allows you to have 6 good mons for most tough fights, and the ones where I needed an HM to get to the fight they weren't hard enough that I suffered too much for it.

  2. oh man, I'm playing Rejuvenation rn and there are SO MANY pokemon I'd like to use. It's so hard to pick just 6!

I mean, I've got Vikavolt, a female combee I could train, a Vivillion that I'll have to let go of soon, a prankster volbeat......and that's just the bug types!

I mean, limiting oneself to just 6 is an uncommon thing to do around these parts in the first place, so... 😅

Well, yes, but it's *the second gym* lmao. I've mostly whittled it down, though.

-Marshtomp, the starter, the tank, literally hit the cap before DR Galvantula

-Dusk-Lycanroc, who from what I gather is kinda typical but I'm still excited to use it. Might get swapped out for the fight, depending on whether Tough Claws+Thrash OHKOs anybody

-Shuppet, fighting immunity, will-o-wisp, may see use against the meditite/Cham that I'm guessing Keta has. Episode one knock off was really fun, I loved getting Shuppet this early. He's getting dumped for misdreavus.

      -Meditite, Pure Power, anti-fighting fight-type.

-Vivillion, the absolute hero and last mon standing against Nim. Will get rotated someday, but today is not that day.

      -Charjabug, resists fighting, knows acrobatics.

On the bench is Pikachu (For A-Raichu for water fields) and Swablu (as a replacement flying-type/status spreader that's eating all my heart scales -_-)

If you choose to get the EXP-all eventually, just six mons will definitely be at the level cap again in a few battles.  You definitely aren't too spoiled for choice after the first gym, even knowing better mons are on the horizon.

I used Medicham and Vivillion until the end of Ep 10's story (in my first save which stopped in Ep10) with Medicham being the main MVP of that file, and D-Lycanroc is one of my most consistently performing Pokemon in my Ep 11/12 save,    so it's perfectly possible to be keeping them for quite a while.

  3. Steel definitely. I know Fairy Tale field is probably stronger but I'd probably use the Factory field with: Skarmory Klinklang Magnezone Lucario Aegislash (Mega) Metagross
  4. rejuvenation chapter 2....is a lot. I've learned something, though: my team is really not cut out for double battles lmao.

Anyway I'll get back to Reborn in a minute

  5. I BEAT NIM!!!!!!

ok maybe it was just her first fight but when I first got here I couldn't even get out her last pokemon. The friendship hit on pichu is super annoying, though. out of all of my mons, only my vivillion was left standing. His light screen saved the day against lunatone and espurr. I think Inkay hit every hypnosis it used over like 6 tries........

  6. >Geared On that subject, Klang would be another great pickup for his team, if he uses it correctly. Gear Grind is good on the short circuit field, but *amazing* on the factory field.
  7. jfc I encountered a Delibird in Ametrine Mt. and hit it with Bug Buzz from Volcorona, and despite being a NVE attack it instantly killed delibird from full. Not A Tough Bird lmao

  8. Oh man, that reminds me of my Klinklang....like, outside of a factory field, STAB steel and poor accuracy on it's only good attack was not very good. But, for Shade's gym (with discharge support) and every meteor chapter, I got a 300 BP move that hit through sturdy and massacred everything. I might start using it after I get Brick Break from Samson, but most of it's moves will still be HMs. It could be sweet for Aurora Veil support though, since Hail is everpresent in those areas.....
  9. Reasons why I'd rather not do that. 1. I'm now all the way to Agate Circus. My main team of Volcarona, Decidueye, Flygon, Crobat, Scrafty, Ampharos and Rotation picks (Meowstic, Scolipede, Kabutops, Clefable) are mostly set in stone. 2. My Sandshrew's nature and IVs aren't that great, since I mostly picked it up as dex filler and for HMs. I might pick up a better one soon, though, depending on when we have to go mountain-climbing again. 3. I'm planning on using A-Sandslash in my next, mono-steel run That said, I might pick one up for Titania later on down the line. A-SS with Slush Rush and Brick Break OHKOs her A-SS and prevents it from setting Aurora Veil, and can proceed to set it's own. @Alazir You're actually including a lot of mons I'm planning on picking up myself. Rotom-W in particular could make a solid replacement for Ampharos if I don't plan on using it's mega, since RW has really great bulk and good coverage, plus my current water types are generally kinda niche in application. If I eventually end up taking Scrafty off the team (she's bulky, but I worry about her getting out-statted by later offensive mons), I might pick up specially-offensive Lucario as a replacement, to keep the fighting/Dark coverage w/ Aura Sphere+Dark Pulse while gaining speed and coverage. I'm not sure, though. Bulk+Drain Punch is a pretty sweet combo.
  10. She's definitely super difficult without proper team setup. However, with the right team, in the fight itself everything just falls into place from there. Re: shade, I really don't know. Like in my own fights against him, I was either underleveled with a bad team or on level with a great one, so I don't think I have a good idea of his difficulty. He's definitely got one of the strongest leads in the game, though.
  11. Man, I just got to Terra's introduction and oh boy, is she ever Terra. There's so much terra here I'm not sure if anyone knows what to do with it. It's like the darn donphans clogging up the place.

Oh and that gender debug npc was just in the absolute most comedically appropriate place hahahaha

I heeded your warning, and I ground until I could fight Luna with 64/65 pokemon. Now I'm at almost all level 65 with Scrafty at 66 thanks to exp from the gym battle and the final Aqua Gang match. RIP to you but I'm different 😛

See, this is why warnings are important! 'Tis always nice to save folks some hassle, eh? Though I am a bit peeved that I apparently didn't grind enough leading up to Luna... 😓

      doombotmecha

To be fair, I only ground up my main team. I'm still going to have to grind Kabutops & Scolipede for my Charlotte and Terra strats. Honestly, thanks, though. Awkward level curves and exp woes are my pet peeves in Pokemon fangames and RPGs in general, so advice that helps me (mostly) dodge those is always welcome.

  12. IMO Shinx. He's underused (though one of my favorites from my own first run of a main series game) and you'll need Luxray if you want T:Null later on.
  13. stop: point of no return time.

Luna is fairly simple, maybe I should not have grinded but I didn't want to be unprepared. Oh well, maybe one more sidequest and then it's time to go to the circus!

  14. oof, I see what folks were saying about Luna's exp curve woes. I got like three non-grinding level ups between Radomus and Luna. I'm going to grind a bit more so I'm not as far behind for samson.

  15. I hope he does Orphanage I, Victoria III and Shelly's Gym in the same episode, since it's only two fights and a gym. I wonder how he'll react to training so hard, only to find a whole gym of trainers between him and the boss. Regardless, my bet remains as it was: Tyranitartube will likely lose to Shelly. If he does not, with that kind of luck and/or skill he could easily beat the whole of episode 18, and I look forward to seeing him try. Otherwise....The Bookworm Devours All.
  16. I mean, it is a crime to break into a military facility. I figure it's just a bunch of advanced army tech, and most "UFOs" are planes the army doesn't want to admit to having yet. I really do wonder who will show up, though.
  17. Really? Oh jeez. I personally haven't gotten there yet, so I'm kinda relying on hearsay. I don't know how far the Penta Op got, but Shofu quit after glass factory, so if t3 gets past that I will be very impressed indeed. Also, at this rate, he could end up being the first poketuber to cover E19 content, which makes me very excited indeed.
  18. Oh that's fine, I'd heard that it was dead from the start of T3's thread. Journey, not the destination. I didn't hear about the accusation though, I guess I will have to look it up. Oh well.
  19. @ToDie Idk, he may still lose to Solaris (which is fine w/ respect to his auto-lose policy), which means he'll get Julia instead. Idk though, we have no idea what his team will be at that stage of the game.
  20. @SansTheSkeleton I think if he can beat Shelly he can beat the game. Serra's no fun but her field is luck-based and T3's been getting nothing but jackpots so far. Aya's Nidoqueen is a problem, and she can get really bad if t3 kills Toxapex, but IMO Shelly's harder. Like, Rado+ might get him if he doesn't EV train, but given dream's help I think he will. Charlotte and Terra will be super hard though if he doesn't get the right strat/team right off the bat.
  21. Oh man, that sounds sick, I'd better get caught up with them sometime.
  22. @ShogokiX True, he's only got about 20% of an orphanage to get through before the gym lol
  23. @ShogokiX Technically he has to visit the orphanage, get introduced, beat orderly John, beat the gym, then come back for the raid.
  24. Ah, that's fair. You're really doing a lot for this run, thanks!
