  1. Everyone has Heather as a given for the E4 because it's explicitly said in the game that she's in the elite 4. You're straight up told in Ametrine City by Cal something like 'I don't know how a girl so young managed to get into the Elite 4' or something along those lines.
  2. Anna could also be the champion though - there's still 1 member that isn't accounted for whether it's one of the elite 4 or the champion even if all of those 4 are part of the league.
  3. It would actually be only 60% (half of the time the quick claw activates you would've gone first even without the quick claw, so only half of the quick claws activations are actually being helpful).
  4. I mean, realistically that might make sense - but Laura used to be in the orphanage while she was in the elite 4, Charlotte and noel were in the orphanage and they were still gym leaders etc. - this doesn't really work as a reason for saying Anna can't be the champion because there are numerous other characters that you could apply the same logic to but they obviously still hold their positions.
  5. For the people who are doubting that Anna is in the elite 4.. the biggest question I have to ask is 'if Anna isn't in the elite 4, then what *is* she?' She can't be a gym leader, she isn't a rival, she isn't in team meteor - if she isn't in the elite 4 then she's seemingly just a random nobody in the game, even though the game strongly hints that she holds some kind of high position in the game and she was in the actual reborn league. She can't be a nobody, and I don't see where else she can fit other than the elite 4/champion. It's also for this kind of logic that I think it's fairly likely that DJ Arclight is in the elite 4, because he shows up in so few places that he kind of has to be in the elite 4 for him to actually be relevant to the story at all by this point, and I'm assuming everybody in the reborn league is going to be at least somewhat meaningful in the game.
  6. Heather and Elias are pretty much confirmed to be part of the Elite 4, and it's extremely likely Bennett will be too what with Laura being kicked out and what Bennett said in the last conversation with you. It's strongly implied that Anna is either the champion or part of the elite 4 (especially because there aren't really any other roles left for her to fill.. she's not a rival, not a gym leader, not a team meteor etc.,). That only leaves 1 more, and while there are all kinds of characters that could potentially fit into this slot there isn't really much to go off of as far as I can tell. It wouldn't surprise me if DJ Arclight were in the elite 4, but there's very little to base this off of other than that he doesn't seem to have any noteworthy position as a trainer and I don't see where else he could fit, even though I don't think there's been anything that's said that hints towards him. Also, there aren't that many people from the reborn league that don't already hold some kind of position in the game - the only people that even seem eligible (under the assumption that the elite 4 consists of people from the reborn league at least, and that the league doesn't change even more than it already has in game) are Lin and DJ Arclight, but I'm doubtful that Lin is the champion what with nobody seeming to know her (especially Laura seeing as she used to be in the elite 4..) and she's already the Team Meteor boss. So, if I had to guess, I'd probably say that the elite 4 will be Elias, Bennett, Heather, DJ Arclight and Anna as the champion personally. The same could be said for practically everybody though - by the Yureyu Building Charlotte could've swept basically every Team Meteor Grunt in the game and still beat Sirius without healing inbetween, and she still gets captured. Heather *is* part of the elite 4, and she also got captured.
  7. A lot of the type resistances you're talking about don't actually exist - rock doesn't resist rock (though, a lot of rock pokemon are half ground type and ground does resist rock), bug doesn't resist bug (again, a lot of bug pokemon are also flying type and flying does resist bug) and ice doesn't resist water (water resists ice and is neutral offensively against ice), ice doesn't resist ground.
  8. Being that the gym leaders and most major characters are being somewhat based on real people, having a romance system seems *really* doubtful and honestly kind of creepy. It doesn't really feel right to me for a game to be trying to show how semi-real people would behave in a relationship - I mean, personally if I were a character in the game I'd be kind of annoyed with it personally. That said, this really doesn't seem the kind of game that would allow for romances either way, but especially because the characters are being based on real people.
  9. Pokeballs are actually by far more cost efficient than the other balls (except level balls if you're much beyond the level of the opponent I think) - iirc an ultra ball has only 2x the catch rate of a normal pokeball, so with ultra balls you're spending 6x as much money for only 2x the catch rate (actually it's slgihtly more in favor of normal pokeballs because you can get a premier ball for every 10 pokeballs). You should only really be using the more expensive balls if you just have nothing to do with your money, or in a few edge cases where you actually need to catch them quickly (for instance, pokemon that run away, or if either you or the other pokemon are at risk of fainting for whatever reason).
  10. The cradily isn't actually that big of a deal for a mono water run (at least, not more so than it is in a normal run) - it doesn't even use any grass moves, and it doesn't resist water either. Depending on how lenient you're going to be about going over the level cap, panpour could do a ton of work against Florinia - at level 31 it learns acrobatics, so you could level it up to 31 and then common candy it down to 25 again (I think using overleveled pokemon is kind of cheating personally, but leveling it up to get a move and then common candying it back down seems a bit of a grey area to me). If you're going to allow catching other pokemon for the purposes of breeding/trading etc. then Panpour can also learn low kick from breeding (if you get a female panpour at least) to make dealing with the cradily a lot easier.
  11. On one hand skipping the master ball seems like something Pokemon Reborn might do - on the other hand in the postgame the Master Ball isn't actually *that* valuable all things considered (at least in a game that makes all pokemon available) - there are what, 50ish legendaries by now? Getting just one of them with a master ball is a convenience but not actually very big - the vast majority of them are still going to need to be caught the hard way.
  12. Who needs legendaries or pseudo-legendaries when you have WOOBAT! If you're wondering why I used unevolved pokemon for this.. pretty much the answer is 'because I could'. I would've much much rather had a magnemite with sturdy than the pichu to paralyze the Yveltal, but since magnemite isn't obtainable by that stage in the game it was kind of unavoidable, and pichu was pretty much the first pokemon I saw that could get thunder wave. In terms of the number of resets it's probably better to send both roggenrolas out before the pichu, but since the most common way for the run to go wrong was for the pichu to get hit before the thunder wave I just sent it out early so if it went wrong I didn't waste much time, rather than spend a few minutes setting up sand attacks only to have the thunder wave fail anyway (it's not impossible to win without the thunder wave of course, but it means I can't set up minimizes before the agility since I need to outspeed the Yveltal to be able to substitute before it attacks, and also paralysis reduces the risk of the Yveltal running out of PP - if it runs out of PP she will switch pokemon which is a problem - I think it was more time efficient to just reset every time the thunder wave failed rather than spend a lot of time on a run that's likely to fail). The other noteworthy thing is woobat learning endeavor midfight - I wish I could claim to have had the foresight to have planned that far ahead, but it was honestly a complete fluke. I didn't even know Madame X had a 2nd dark pokemon at first, and I actually beat her once without using endeavor by just spamming air slash a bunch of times (but it didn't record properly so I had to redo everything again..), and then i realized that endeavor was actually a really useful move for taking down the hydreigon a lot more safely - in terms of this fight replacing calm mind would've obviously been better than replacing substitute, but since substitute is a TM it's easy to get back later on if I want to whereas calm mind is a lot more difficult to get back, and I didn't really want to ditch the woobat especially since I've already invested an ability capsule in it to give it simple.
  13. There are 2 very obvious strategies that come to mind - you can simply destroy the field outright (plenty of pokemon are capable of this), and there's also the fairly obvious use flash cannon/mirror shot which are both boosted, both are super effective against ice and both become guaranteed hits - they'd probably OHKO any ice pokemon that didn't have a 2nd type that resisted it (even then it might OHKO it..), so if you get a high speed pokemon with one of those moves you can really easily sweep her team. There are also some other strategies that would work for the fight - for instance, you could just use substitute on some of your pokemon - all of the accuracy buffs/evasion debuffs are consumed on a critical hit, so if you just set up a substitute to get hit by a critical then you can deal with the fight as normal afterwards. Something of note is that you can also setup sweep really easily in this field by taking advantage of flash reducing accuracy of pokemon - if you put substitute on a pokemon with a setup move, then you can have another pokemon cripple one of her pokemon with flash, then substitute on your setup sweeper until she misses and set up freely after that (the AI won't switch out their -6 accuracy pokemon until they have no moves that do damage). A magnezone is ideal for this since it has sturdy, and then it can thunder wave + flash spam to cripple a pokemon very effectively. If you don't mind reloading then the fight's still plausible to beat by just brute forcing it with any conventional strategy regardless - sometimes you might get destroyed by the hax, but after several attempts you'll get lucky and win anyway, even if you didn't use anything special. I don't really see that as being forced to use a specific strategy personally - there are probably plenty of other options too.
  14. I recommend catching a magnemite in Shade's gym with Sturdy, then use a heart scale on it to teach it thunder wave (or if you'd rather save heart scales you can breed another magnemite and level it up until it learns thunder wave), and get the flash TM and teach it flash. A sturdy + thunder wave + flash magnemite will do wonders for beating just about any of the overpowered pokemon you run into, and is even useful for some gyms by crippling a pokemon for another pokemon of yours to setup sweep on. EDIT: Also, if you're using a status move use it 3 times in a row iirc - any time the Arceus gets a status effect he will use a full heal, but he only has 2 full heals I think (maybe it was 3, it's been a while).
  15. In regards to the 'extra ending' it's entirely possible people completely misinterpretted what was being said - as I recall it said something along the lines of 'for people who did pretty much everything' or something to that effect. That might not even mean the choices you make during the story - it's entirely possible that's just talking about all of the sidequests in which case it might have an ending showing what happens to some of the minor characters (like Simon for instance).
  16. I can kind of understand having difficulty with Samson after my 2nd playthrough of the game - basically if you're using pokemon that are supposed to be kind of tanky the fight is going to be really difficult because practically nothing can tank his hits, but if you're using fast/heavy hitting pokemon (particularly flying/psychic pokemon) you can just KO his pokemon before they get a chance to act. Fast pokemon that can learn bounce are especially effective due to how the field affects bounce (in addition to bounce being a flying attack).
  17. I'm pretty sure he's talking about the box that doesn't move at all that says 'Just an ordinary box...?' or something like that. It never moves and it's still there even after you finish the scraggy event.
  18. Fern was really annoying - his Fraxure had taunt and dragon dance which made it really awkward to set up against, and his Krookodile and Roserade both could outspeed anything unboosted of mine and either OHKO or get *really* close to OHKOing them (and once his krookodile KOed anything of mine it would sweep me with Moxie). Eventually I managed to set up a bit with my Torchic and baton pass some speed buffs to my Woobat and used calm mind a few times to sweep (I think this is the first time Taunt from a NPC in a pokemon game has actually been a major nuisance for me). It would've been a lot easier if I had just leveled my pokemon up a bit more, or if I had headed back to reborn city to relearn flame burst on one of my pokemon to set the field on fire, but I didn't want to walk all the way to reborn city and back especially when I'm getting close to being able to go through the main gate. On the other hand, Cain got single handedly swept by a Woobat on the 2nd attempt (the first attempt his absol KOed it, but on the 2nd attempt he tried to swords dance and then got OHKOed by wing slash). The field making calm mind give +2 instead of +1 along with a simple woobat, not to mention the 1.5x power boost on psychic was pretty perfect for Woobat. I got the scraggy (truthfully when I think about it it was relly silly for me to grind a Mankey up when I could've gotten Scraggy, but I had forgotten about Scraggy at the time) to help deal with Radomus since I didn't really have 6 good pokemon to use against him since Mankey had no good attacks to use and my fire pokemon were weak to psychic since it becomes part rock type in the chess field. I also got a sturdy magnemite with thunder wave, and then i went to the Arceus Ditto and thunder waved it, switched to scraggy after the magnemite fainted, then switched to another fodder pokemon to get KOed before switching to gastly to destiny bond KO it. Scraggy gained 24000 exp from it, immediately bringing it up to level 30. From there I did a bunch of things - I was expecting the fight against Radomus to be more difficult to deal with than the past few I was against since I wouldn't really be able to set up + sweep the way I have been in a 2v2 fight. I grinded scraggy and gastly up to level 60, with my other pokemon between level 55-60, did all of the sticker quests I could and got brightpowders for my entire team since I didn't really have any other good items to use. Vs. Radomus:
  19. The Corrosive Mist one is easier if you're using any abilities that remove the field easily probably, but if it isn't removed it's *much* harder.
  20. After Serra I had a rather annoying fight against Sirius - the fight itself might not have been too too hard if I would prepare properly for it, the thing that made it annoying is that there was a fight with 2 orderlies right before Sirius and I couldn't access the menu/PC between the fights. After beating the orderlies I quicksaved so I wouldn't need to fight them over and over again (the random team meteor grunts and orderlies etc. are actually somewhat difficult to beat - it's not unheard of for me to have to load because I lost to a team meteor grunt...), but my first pokemon sent out and the overall party I was using wasn't really optimally set up for Sirius. Eventually I 3x captivated his Chandelure and baton passed a bunch of buffs to goldeen to sweep with though. Not that it really matters for anything but I chose to go upstairs this time simply because it was one of the possibilities I hadn't tried in my previous playthroughs. After that there weren't really many noteworthy fights - the giant steelix was a pushover since vulpix outspeeded it and could will-o-wisp it. The abra was more difficult, but I got it to use hyper beam on my woobat and sand attacked it with my torchic, swaggered it with my mankey and whittled it down. vs. Noel:
  21. It's not really plausible to add in an entire generation late into development - you'd need to revisit pretty much the entire game to put in the new pokemon into various trainers teams, rebalance the gym leaders etc. after adding new pokemon to them, ensure that none of the available pokemon break game balance, add new event pokemon etc. etc., not to mention whatever rule changes might happen. I mean, unless you just tag on an entire generation of pokemon to just the postgame, but that's incredibly sloppy - a poorly done feature in games is usually worse than a feature not existing, despite sounding counterintuitive, and it's just not very practical to add in something so drastic properly into a game that's already close to being finished without spending several months on it (and that means several months of not actually continuing the story).
  22. After beating Aya I went and caught a gastly - Torchic spammed sand attack on the Medicham a few times before getting OHKOed and then vulpix burned and I slowly killed it. I got pretty lucky and the gastly has a timid nature which was pretty much the exact nature I would've hoped for (the main reason I want the gastly is for dealing with troublesome pokemon with destiny bond, so speed is almost the only stat that matters). I started grinding the gastly at Yureyu but it's still only a level 34. I fought Sigmund and considering I had 1 underleveled pokemon and 1 HM mule with me at the time he was pretty easy and I beat him on the first attempt - I used all my pokemon other than goldeen while Cain's Nidoking was still alive and then switched to goldeen after his Nidoking fainted (my goldeen has lightningrod so I wanted to switch it in while Cain wasn't also using something immune to lightning) and then finished everything off with goldeen. After that there weren't really any noteworthy battles until Bennett - I had a bit of trouble at first until I realized I could just send woobat in against any of his special attackers and set up calm mind pretty easily. I didn't really expect it at the time when I caught it, but woobat is actually a really strong pokemon in a playthrough like this. Vs. Serra:
  23. I don't think the percentages should be taken too too seriously - I mean, each of the 10 categories probably won't take an equal amount of time but they're being weighted equally as far as the percentage goes, and also a lot of the things don't have a very clear way to tell 'how much is done' and are just estimates. It's just a rough estimate on how far it is along, I don't think it's really like only 1% happens during 1 week and then 10% happens all in one day or something like that.
  24. It was kind of the point - in my previous playthroughs I could pretty much always get through all of the fights by just brute forcing them without really changing my team up significnatly, and I wanted to have a playhtrough that would actually make me really struggle without limiting team diversity so much like a monotype challenge does. Anyway, after beating Kiki I went to Azurine Island - Aster+Eclipse were actually fairly difficult to beat with my gimp pokemon (had to reload i think 3-4 times, but that's still relatively easy compared to the gym leaders). Starting the fight with Goldeen + Espurr worked out once I stopped getting trolled by flinches with a light screen from Espurr while Goldeen could OHKO/2HKO most pokemon with waterfall with a bit of support healing the goldeen part way through the fight. I beat Taka on the first attempt by baton passing some speed boosts/curse to my goldeen and it did most of the work against his team between waterfall+megahorn. It was pretty close though at the end - my Vulpix survived a chatter from his Chatot with exactly 1 health left which allowed it to finish it off, and I'm not sure any of my other pokemon could've survived a hit from his Chatot right at the end. At Mt. Pyrous the Garchomp fight isn't really much different from how it normally is - I got a level 22 hoppip for leech seed and a level 1 sturdy geodude and save/reloaded until he missed the hoppip and landed a leech seed and stalled it out with geodude. I put a rawst bery on the geodude in case fire fang burnt it once (I got the berry from a wild numel while I was breeding curse onto my Torchic), but it never got burnt anyway. I could've avoided some of the save/reloading if I had used a focus sash, but being that focus sash is something in very limited supply I'd rather avoid using it unless I'm really stuck since it's an item that can have a huge amount of value in a playthrough like this. Against Cain I had to reload a few times (like almost any fight against important characters) - I can't remember the fight very clearly but I think I beat his first pokemon with my vulpix, then he sent out samurott which I hit with will-o-wisp and finished off with my porygon with discharge, and then my numel KOed 2 of his pokemon and yawned his haunter to easily KO with espurr after my numel fainted. Fern wasn't too too difficult either (though, on my first attempt I realized how infuriating it is that my torchic couldn't OHKO his ferrothorn even with a 4x effective STAB attack, and then gets OHKOed by a not very effective power whip...), my vulpix OHKOed hsi ferrothorn, then beat krokorok thanks to the AI being stupid and using fire fang and OHKOed the scyther after surviving a wing attack before losing to roserade. Woobat set up calm mind and 2HKOed serperior and roserade with wing slashes. vs. Aya:
  25. I once read about the idea of this, and I had nothing else to do so I decided to start a run a few days ago under the following rules to make it a bit more difficult: 1. I can only use fully unevolved pokemon in fights (I can evolve pokemon for the purposes of things like trading/breeding etc., however I won't use them in any actual fights) 2. I can only use pokemon that have a >100 base stat total difference between them and their full evolution (for instance, a pokemon like scyther that has obviously way higher stats than pretty much every unevolved pokemon won't qualify) in fights. 3. For all plot fights I'll fight on Set (for the purposes of grinding I can fight on shift against say the NPCs in the grand hall just to make it less tedious, but for any 'difficult' fight I'll be fighting on Set) 4. No more than 3 items per fight (so nothing stupid like using 99 potions on a level 1 sturdy geodude to PP stall the opponent), and no revives in fights whatsoever since revives are basically just broken. 5. At the start of any fight I won't use any pokemon above the badge level limit (if they level up past the badge limit during the fight that won't disqualify the fight, but I'll have to common candy it down as soon as it becomes possible afterwards). In the case of having multiple battles in a row where you can't open the menu inbetween it won't be disqualified either. Right now I'm right after beating Kiki - the first 4 gym battles weren't particularly interesting since you'd normally be fighting them without fully evolved pokemon regardless (except maybe shelly, but I had 2 pokemon with flame burst and 1 pokemon with lava plume which kind of trivializes the fight), but it's been starting to get more interesting in the past 2 gym fights. vs. Shade: vs. Kiki I'll probably try to do more detailed updates from now on - the early game of a little cup challenge isn't really much different from a normal playthrough so I kind of didn't bother posting about it before. Right now I have a level 45 Goldeen, Espurr, level 44 Porygon, 43 Vulpix, Numel, 42 Woobat, 36 Snubbull, 32 Torchic (and my original level 42 Torchic that I probably won't use again as it doesn't have baton pass), and a bunch of other random low level pokemon. My IVs/EVs/natures are pretty much all over the place (my Porygon even has a +speed nature along with it's analytic ability which feels particularly silly). Honestly I have almost no idea which kinds of pokemon are going to be good in this kind of playthrough as I've never really played with unevolved pokemon (especially unevolved pokemonw ithout TMs), and I'm kind of just making it up as I go along for the most part.
