  1. It becomes kind of boring on intense when the best solution to pretty much every difficult fight (that isn't 2v2 at least) becomes debuff the enemy pokemon and then setup sweep against it. It's of course a pretty difficult problem to solve, but I hope some day the AI gets made better that it deals with setup sweepers more intelligently (though, spamming recovery items on a setup sweeper is virtually impossible to solve even with changing the AI). With a dedicated team it isn't even unreliable to setup sweep against the gym leaders - using sturdy magnemite for thunder wave + flash and some roggenrolas for sand attack spam and any setup sweeper with substitute is almost a guaranteed win against most gym leaders even if they're underleveled.
  2. If you're playing for the sake of winning fights then Axew is easily the best of them in my opinion. It has a few gyms where it kind of sucks (mostly the 2nd and 3rd gyms - for the first gym it has dragon rage and once it's at least a Fraxure it's a reasonable setup sweeper), and by the time it's fully evolved it will almost single handedly win a ton of fights. The big selling point of Haxorus is that it learns good setup moves naturally and has the right stat distribution for being a setup sweeper, which is extremely good for in game use since the AI is incompetent at dealing with setup sweepers (most would be setup sweepers require TMs that you don't have access to so there are very few viable setup sweepers to use though). That said, if you're really playing for the sake of winning fights you may as well just go for speed boost blaziken instead and save the effort of trying to get an Axew. If you aren't playing for the sake of winning then just go with whatever you feel like because there's no objective way to answer that kind of question.
  3. With RPGMaker you can change the variables if you know what you're doing - but it's largely pointless because if you want to cheat with RPGMaker it's way easier to just create the pokemon you want rather than go through the hoops of editing the variables to get the pokemon you want.
  4. If you read all of the books in wispy tower it's made pretty clear that Geara isn't Narcissa's husband. One of the books says: "When the head of the Wispy Tower, Tyron, saw the truth, he was filled with anger. He desired to create a new world where he could create peace. What good would peace do? It will only bore us to death." Anyway, it's hard to be more explicit than that - Geara just isn't Narcissa's husband. From what I've gathered from the books in Wispy Tower, Tyron (Narcissa's husband, as they've said elsewhere that Narcissa's husband was the head of the tower at the time) did initially start off making the underground facility, however he was not a part of the conspiracy to burn it down and such and when he found out about that he was going to tell people about it but was murdered (presumably by Geara).
  5. I had my Shadow Beldum saying that it's heart was ready to open up (ie. the purple bar was empty, but it wouldn't purify) in the purification chamber, and then I put in a normal shadow pokemon into the first slot of the purification chamber. After the normal shadow pokemon was purified, it said that another pokemon was ready to be purified and asked if I wanted to switch sets, and saying yes purified the Beldum. I think the purification chamber is a little bit buggy right now, and the beldum shouldn't be in the first slot - I've noticed a few times when purifying pokemon that it seems to only check the first shadow pokemon it reaches if it can be purified, and only checks the later ones if the first one is purified. In my case iirc I had the shadow beldum in the 3rd one (facing towards a fairy pokemon for better tempo in case that mattered at all, but I don't think that it did), and the other shadow pokemon was in the first slot. I also had all 9 of the purification chambers maxed out - i'm not sure if that actually mattered, but I had it like that at any rate when I did this - it's still possible that it was relevant as I haven't actually tested it without it. If you do feel like trying that then the easiest way would probably be to get an army of normal pokemon - I caught 30ish zigzagoons/linoones and filled up the purification chamber with them.
  6. On Mt. Valor you can find the shard just south of where you fought Geara/Zetta on a rock. In the Sheridan Wetlands it's in the Team Xen place - as soon as you enter it head as far right as you can, and at the end you'll find a room with seemingly nothing in it, and it's on one of the boxes in that room.
  7. The shards can be used in this version: EDIT:
  8. Incidentally, it's actually very likely that Ren isn't part of the prophecy - or if he is, it's likely for betraying Team Xen. When Ren sees Melia at the Sheridan Wetlands, I'll quote some of the things he says: REN: B-But why? How are you alive. Melia, you're alive! Sh-She lied to me... And a bit later.. REN: Y-You don't understand. I-I thought you were murdered...? Murdered is an interesting word he uses here - what I take from this is that when Crescent talked to Ren, she told him that Team Xen murdered Melia not that she was killed by the Galvantula. At the point after beaitng Narcissa where Crescent talks to Ren, the first thing she says is 'Anger is motivation' - it seems implied at the time that that was meant to be anger towards the main character, but to me it seems a lot more plausible that it's actually about the anger towards Team Xen for supposedly killing Melia - Crescent knew that he was someone that seemed like he could fit the prophecy, and as such he was someone that could easily get into Team Xen to help destroy it from within, which is much more consistent with everything else she's done in the story than convincing someone to actually help Team Xen when almost everything she's done in the story so far has been about opposing Team Xen.. Also of note, in the Chrisolica Mansion (gym 3) one of the 'puzzles' has 3 of your friends (Ren, Venam, Aelita) and 6 statements about them, and you have to pick which one of them was a false statement for each of them. For Ren, the false statement was 'I don't value my friends' - I mean, this isn't strictly proof that he isn't the betrayer, but it's a very strange thing to point out if he is. EDIT: Oh, one more interesting thing worth noting - at the end of episode 6, Crescent says to you something along the lines of 'Don't trust them - your friends are only out for themselves and they will betray you as soon as the opportunity shows itself' - this has a bit of a different meaning to it if you assume that Ren isn't the betrayer.
  9. For me, I went with a sturdy magneton to thunder wave it, then leech seeded it, then substitute spammed which more or less trivialized the fight (and would trivialize pretty much any boss fight that isn't a grass electric or ground pokemon).
  10. I kind of wanted to be an egotistical prick there and say 'me' when they asked that question (they asked 'who here is the strongest?').
  11. Depends on what context you're asking the question in really - if you're talking about the best pokemon for v6, then larvesta is garbage for the time being (it doesn't evolve until level 59, which means you can only really use it against Amber and Volcarona is terrible against fire pokemon). Volcarona is a strong pokemon, but at the current point in the game it's pretty close to useless - in the future it will become a lot better though. For what it's worth though, a Volcarona with quiver dance + magma drift would probably utterly destroy the 2v2 fight near the end of v6, even if it's close to useless against every other meaningful fight in the game for the time being (I guess it's good against Angie if you don't mind grindng it up to 59 and then reducing its level afterwards..). Axew is a strong pokemon, but you can get it as a starter and if you got Axew as a starter then getting an Axew from the egg is terrible. Togekiss can be pretty good - but it also prevents you from using a Roserade for the time being as afaik there's only 1 shiny stone in the game right now, so if you wanted to use a Roserade you can't. A lot of the other pokemon can be obtained without the egg so even if they're strong pokemon it can be considered bad to get them from the egg.
  12. You need the book that you got during the quest to be able to read them - if you gave them to the NPC you won't be able to read the Garufa stuff anymore, at least until you get the other book in the game (in the sheridan wetlands with the itemfinder). In theory the optimal way is to start the quest for the hidden library after finishing the other help requests, so you can just not finish it and hold onto the book until you can get to the sheridan wetlands before finishing the help request and giving the guy the book. I mean, unless you just don't care about the blue moon ice cream which truthfully might not even matter very much if you miss it, in which case you can just not give the book at all.
  13. There's a cave in goldenleaf town behind the waterfall, bring a gourmet treat to the tree in the cave and you'll fight a wild phantump.
  14. I think this might be because in v5 the town becomes friendly before you fight Narcissa, but in v6 the town becomes friendly after the gym battle and there are some other events inbetween that, so it probably assumed you'd already beaten the gym/done the events because the variable for the town being friendly was already set (hence Narcissa showing you the entrance to the place you're going to next). The cutscene with the admins normally would've been seen after an event in Narcissa's house, but since the town was already friendly towards you the game thought that event had already played out (however it didn't register the cutscene as having already been finished). Truthfully, I think you probably could just go on with the story and everything from then on will *probably* work the way it's supposed to, but I can't say for sure. If you wanted to see how it was supposed to play out I don't think you really can unless you load a save from before the Team Xen facility.
  15. On the other hand though she keeps telling the main character to stay out of it and just live their life normally, which kind of contradicts that notion.
  16. Staryu learns psychic by level up (and you can get surf fairly soon after the mystery egg - it's at most 2 gyms before you can get surf and bubblebeam isn't *that* terrible), and not having ice beam/thunderbolt might be a bit unfortunate but it's not that crippling - you can still have a moveset like surf, psychic, recover power gem which is way better than what most pokemon get with much better stats than most pokemon. I'd consider Starmie to be the best water pokemon obtainable in the game in v6 if you didn't pick a water starter (and I think it's better than most water starters too - maybe even better than all starters including greninja at least until it can get better moves).
  17. If you go to the right before the last room in the hidden library, you'll be able to climb up and go to the room with the absol statue - however, there's a second branch that also goes right slightly before that, and if you follow that path you can climb up and go to a different room with a gardevoir statue and the elgyem. I'm not actually sure why it's so easy to miss that path, when I looked for it in my second time through it seemed so obvious I have no idea how I missed it - I suppose I must have thought that it was the same path as the one further ahead and thought I had already gone there. Crescent has actually saved you 2 times for sure, and 1 time 'sort of' on the ship, possibly more before the game started - she teleported you out of Carotos Mountain before the facility exploded (not to mention saved you from the shadow mewtwo), of course saved you at the end of episode 6, and on the ship she teleported you somewhere else on the ship before the bomb went off (though, it's not clear that that really mattered since it seems the other people around you before the teleport weren't injured anyway). One other thing worth mentioning about Crescent - in v6 there's a scene of her talking to Ren after you beat Narcissa, and it's strongly implied that she convinces him to join team Xen - it seems completely contradictory with everything else she's been doing, but make of it what you will.
  18. The light one is talked about in the mansion (gym 3), as well as in the hidden library in a different room (albeit easier to miss iirc). Incidentally, there's also some relevant information in Keta's journal in one of the rooms with the gems (for the chandelure event) There's also a ton of other sketchy stuff involving the main character that was added in v6, on the SS Oceana you can eavesdrop through one of the walls for instance:
  19. I've looked it up in RPGMaker (towards the beginning of the release when I spent an hour resetting looking for a different starter I was starting to question if I was just being trolled and there wasn't anything special in the random machine and wanted to make sure):
  20. Most of the NPCs abilities (and a few other things like the genders of their pokemon) are actually randomized and can change between different attempts - I'm not sure if the Lanturn in particular is randomized, but I've definitely noticed that some pokemon like Ren's Frogadier/Greninja 'sometimes' being Protean but not always.
  21. You'll find Saki talking to a guard I think towards the north-east (?) of the same area the message came in, and you just need to talk to Saki iirc.
  22. Yeah you don't reset for natures on the jackpot starters - just take it any of the ones you want when you get it, and then breed it later if it sucks, much less time consuming than trying to reroll the jackpot multiple times.
  23. A week ago might not actually be v6 - v6 came out pretty recently, I'm not sure when exactly it was. There are definitely a lot of audino trainers in v6 - off hand I remember there being one before amethyst cave, one in sheridan village (I think s/he was on the right side of the waterfall? not 100% sure), there isn't a breeder before marianette but there's still a rebattlable maid with 3x audino in the mansion, I think there was a breeder just outside the pokecenter in goldenleaf city, there's a breeder on the ship before you fight valerie, there's a breeder in Kakori village I think on the north-ish part of the town, a breeder before Angie on the beach of that town and a breeder in Amber's gym.
  24. In v6 there are pokemon breeders you can rebattle somewhere near pretty much every gym that all have a team of 3x audino - those can be used to get HP EVs fairly easily (I think the first breeder, ie. with the lowest level audinos for EV training purposes is just outside amethyst cave on the gearen city side of it - I don't think there's a breeder in Gearen city but I may have missed it). As for special attack, that one might be a bit more difficult to get and I don't really know anywhere that would be good for EV training that off hand.
