  1. Careful though, team black is kind of a pain. Freakin snorlax :/ The repeatable trainers added in ep 15 really make grinding so much more manageable. Never do I have to relive the horror of raising a noibat late game again!
  2. The mirror field can work against serra too. in my case a killing blow from her froslass' shadow ball actually missing despite no evasion buffs on my part, with flash cannon one-shotting her despite her 3x evasion boost, and me winning. Flash cannon is great on this field BTW. Magneton OWNS.this battle
  3. Looks wonderful! Good job Ame, really appreciating all the time and work you put into this. Also a little late and er different topic, but was that dude in Charlotte's gym's line " See you in the Starlight Divide!" always there? Thought that was pretty neat.
  4. Feraligtr was my favorite pokemon period before gen 4 came along. Infernape kind of dethroned his starter status and Greninja sort of dethroned his water starter status,. although he's still my 3rd favorite. I kind of wish his old design was still used though, he looks a lot derpier than he did in gen 2 . Seriously, check out his gen 2 sprites, guy looked pure boss. Aesthetically my least favorite starters by type are: chespin, fennekin, and mudkip. Mega swampert does look badass though. In terms of use, TBH I never touched Mudkip. Fennekin I always got bored with to where I never even used Delphox. Blaziken was major disappointing back in gen 3 though, and Typhlosion was MASSIVELY overrated in gen 2. Later gens really made them better though. Feraligtr kicked butt on my SS playthrough so idk I still love him. I actually thought Samurott was the most underwhelming in gen 5, personally. But i never used them competitively. Snivy sucks at first in-game but once he got Coil/leaf blade he gets really fun and starts to whoop.
  5. Poison is actually a fairly decent defensive type even pre fairy but now being SE against fairy while reisting it I find myself really enjoying the type, plus (bad)poison is a useful ailment to inflict on those insurmountable walls and very useful early to mid-game. Electric I always thought was a tad boring but looking back, I actually rely on them quite a lot. I think my burning rage for Gyrados since diamond has instilled this policy of having at least one on my team, even if it's Pachi or Emolga(who is actually pretty legit). I love how fast they are, and having only one weakness(albeit a dangerous one) is really cool. rock...thing about rock is that people have this misconception(GF included) that rock is supposed to be defensive when really it's much better offensively. A lot of pokemon suffer weaknesses to rock and even 4x in some cases to where I always try to have at least one rock option on my team if I can. I'd argue it's one of the best offensive types in the game even, although rock moves do suffer from being notoriously unreliable. on hit or having costly side effects.
  6. i looked at an old vid of version 5.5 I think but jesus Marianette seemed like, 10x easier back then. Multipulse was completely different and ot nearly as dangerous, Slaking wasn't quite as deadly, her field wasn't nearly as beneficial to her...it's like you made normal the old intense or something. Especially compared to Keta who was a piece of cake compared to her. I even found Narcissca easier, even with the dark type-neutering her field provides save for her massively annoying Spiritomb. I guess her field provides 100% hypnosis accuracy? Man that was killing me, but I guess I should've brought berries huh? I really am enjoying the game especially the town design(it's marvelous) but the dialogue and characters are a bit offputting since they feel too "bro" for my taste. Like it's very awkward(and Reborn has this problem too to some extent as do many fangames) to have a character literally saying LOL during a conversation and really kills immersion for me since laughter in dialogue shouldn't be portrayed like that. It isn't chatspeak and really kind of screams "yeah this was made by a person who spends a LOT of time on forums and chatrooms or such." Another thing is that a lot of the characters are too "warm/hot" personality wise where it's getting kind of hard to distinguish between their personalities. Like a lot of the friendly-gym leaders are either hot-headed or sociopathic weirdos, while the bad guys are just enormous assholes, it's a bit offputting. Mosely/Venam/Saki seem almost interchangeable in personality, all having this brotastic IDGAF so cray cray attitude. TBH they're kind of annoying and I find myself liking Meia and Narcissca a lot more since their cooler/more neutral personalities seem to make them stand out more and feel more believable. I'm guessing this might be an issue of early game writing weirdness since I'm only at the 5th badge but yeah it's pretty noticeable and a major gripe I have. Oh, and your rival, Ren or whatever? Utter fool and I really dislike him, though that seems to be the point?. The whole Goldenleaf town arc was excellent though, really hilarious how everybody was a jerk and the backstory behind it. Narcissca is definitely my favorite character so far. I thought the castle was annoying at first but the payoff was fantastic. The story itself is definitely heading into really promising territory. Another thing, how come some of the TMs have weird availibilities? Like stacking shot can't be learned by Infernape? really? Also the last two leaders didn't give me any TMs, why? Facade is a pretty weak prize if that's supposed to be it.
  7. Torment lasts like, forever. I could've sworn it was only supposed to last for a limited time, but it seriously went on for like the entire remainder of the battle during my first battle with meia I think?
  8. Just downloaded this game, seems pretty cool so far. The line YOU LOOK LIKE GHETTO TRASH cracked me up. Though the real life references are kind of weird, like the joan rivers joke just seem out of place.
  9. Headbutt trees...without anybody who knows headbutt :/ and lol that's basically cheating the flip game. I don't want to cheat but at the same time game corner is like stupidly broken in payout so idk. Really have no clue what I'll do. Maybe lose enough times to evolve grotle(YEAH RIGHT) then common candy him back down or something. It seems like unless I cheat I'm not winning this battle.
  10. Where did you get burmy? Jeez some of these pokemon locations are so out of the way you basically NEED a guide to find them lol. And I can't do voltorb flip at all, I'm terrible at it and cannot understand it. And I know exactly what the numbers mean but I always end up losing anyway since it feels too luck based.
  11. No way? Where do you get numel? I had no idea and it'd help...um A LOT.
  12. Druddiggon isn't even THAT bad jeez lol. But hold up, how in the world did you even beat Flobot with Landon? As far as I know there's only one ground type you can have at that point :/ and none you can actually catch. I'm trying to do a steel/ground dual run ATM and the battle is literally impossible since I only have grotle and klink. Boosted pin missles tear grotle apart and klink can't handle the rest of the team alone. Nidoran is too expensive to have saved up enough cash for at this point, otherwise I'd see how. Did you give yourself money or just got really lucky at the game corner? Then there's the level cap which made me have to attempt julia like 6 times and keeps costing me losses against fern. Seriously questioning how Landon even got as far as he did.
  13. I'm talking about for starmie, and competitive =/= in-game. Starmie doesn't have the luxury of buffing up her offense as far as I know and even with her solid special attack it's just not going to do enough because the move itself is too weak. Nasty plot + his defenses specifically is what gives Cofagrigus his utility with HP and if he's prevented from setting up it won't do him much good either. Starmie can't set it up as easily, at least not in reborn so it ends up not as useful as you'd expect. Had it been ice beam I'd agree, but hidden power? nah
  14. I just find it so strange people want it one way or the other. Like really, a successful society needs a balance of some sort, one favoring one side more depending the economic environment and time period. Both sides have their ups and downs, so trying to go from one extreme to the other just seems silly. Also, what works for one country isn't going to work for another the same way. Trying to force democracy down everyone's throat is something I never liked about the US, especially when their system has so many flaws they still can't work out.
  15. If pokemon has taught me anything, it's that there are some real sick, sick sick people out there IRL who will twist your favorite thing into something unholy and vile. Oh and that no matter what fanbase you're part, remember that ANYBODY can be a part of it, especially weirdo pedophiles(smh @ bulbapedia).
  16. OMG I just looked back and read the adrienne reveal thread...man. "THESE PRONOUNS 2 HAWD" "JUST NOTHER WHITE GURL" "UGH FUCK DIVERSITY" "GERMANY MASTAH RACE" "DUDE NAZIS NOT FUNNY KAY" "DOGE" Like omg this site fell victim to the early 2010s global surge in Internet stupidity didn't it? In fact it sounds like this site had some serious drama and a dark age of its own some years back. It's quite fascinating. But wow Ame has been doing game design for like it would be 10 years now, no? Much respect.
  17. Nope! Talked to them in the morning, they were inside their house and then appeared at the lady's. But you have to clear the factory first I think because they didn't show up before.
  18. I think hidden power is a waste of time now since it's always 60 BP ad you're not getting STAB off it. Nothing is dying to that, not even with a 4x weakness.
  19. Ah it's raining so that explains why it isn't there. Weird how the pokemon location guide thread didn't really mention the weather part.
  20. Lol people were actually tripping about the xe/xyr thing? It was pretty weird sounding and admittedly that part was kind of tumblrish but at the same time it kind of fleshes out adrienne a bit too. Though I was surprised Cain was so U A GIRL OR GUY LOLZ since that's a bit rude to ask in real life, though I guess he said sorry before asking it.
  21. This is my first monorun for reborn and I decided to do a type I've never monorun'd in a pokemon game before: Normal! It's also a type I don't see done much here, though I'm sure someone has. Anyway I started today and so far have my first badge! I'll keep updating on each badge and hopefully make it to the end. Oh and also, no items during battle! Just a personal rule I play by and hopefully I can beat the optional bosses, although idk for sure if I will. Well arceus I can probably handle, Garchomp though...we'll see lol. Character name: Vanilla(almost went with Vanille but FF13 kind of ruined that name for me lol) trainer sprite: alice date started: 8/7/2015 or 7/8/2015 for you non-american folk first pokemon(dumped starter): Pidgey! Team as of now: Sparrow: Pidgeotto/female/jolly ability: tangled feet level 19 -tackle -Gust -whirlwind -sand attack NOTES: since none of the starters are normal and I dumped it after catching her I consider Sparrow to be the starter of sorts for this run. She had a much better start than Beatrix, but since there are better flying/normals out there her time of the team will probably be limited up till midgame. She actually managed to beat Julia's electrode(after she healed it twice even!) via sand hax, unfortunately he kamikazed her with aftermath so no exp. Meh. I'm seeing her as the leader of the 1st squad but eventually will have to turn position over to someone else more suited to the harder stuff. Beatrix: bibarel/female/hasty ability: simple level 18 -headbutt -water gun -defense curl -rollout NOTES: 2nd pokemon I caught, raising this thing was really annoying since simple really screws you over early game with like everything having sand attack or growl or some defense lowering move. It's too bad litleo got moved later on in ep 15, otherwise I would've traded for it. BUT she really is a blessing in disguise as headbutt/rollout is what let me beat Julia. I won't be keeping her the entire run, but she's definitely earned a spot at least in the early game. I think around shade I'll replace her with someone else Noize: whismur/male/brave ability: rattled level 19 -pound -screech -echoed voice -astonish -NOTES: did not know you could get whismur now in ep 15, so this is the first time I used him in Reborn, and wow, he really kicks butt so far! Echoed voice is mad hype as long as you don't get status'd or something. That nature is kind of holding him back with the low speed but at the time time I don't want to sacrifice defenses either. Idk how he'll turn out later on but right now prospects are bright for him. Harriet: igglybuff/female/gentle ability: friend guard level 15 -pound -sweet kiss -wish -charm -NOTES: I feel like she's a necessary investmentto help deal with fighters but at the same time, man is it a climb from the bottom. Wish is like, a amazing move anyway so I'm probably keeping that forever, but her offensive power is pathetic and she works best at crippling physical attackers with her charm. Sweet kiss is way too unreliable to be of much use I realize. I'm really trying to evolve her ASAP so she can at least get slightly better. VERSUS JULIA attempts: 3 pokemon used in victory: Beatrix, Sparrow, Harriet, Noize Beatrix > helioptile, Beatrix > Emolga, Beatrix > voltorb, Beatrix > voltorb, Beatrix > Blitzle, Beatrix < Electrode Sparrow X Electrode Julia whooped me the first time, mainly due to unlucky crtis, Emolga the terrible and paralysis up the whazoo. 2nd attempt I got her down to Electrode but it kind of wrecked Noize who was the only one standing. 3rd attempt I did away with the nonsense and had Beatrix on a roll(out) which took out 4 of her pokemon alone. One headbutt was enough to demolish Blitzle(he's really free TBH), but not even Beatrix could stop lightning disaster known as electrode, though I think she did get a hit on him. Sparrow was really only supposed to cripple his dangerous sonicboom with sand attack then whittle him down, but it worked a lot better than expected and not only actually brought him to red twice(he kept missing lol), but even KO'd him! Unfortunately aftermath was like a big SCREW U and took what very little HP sparrow had left, robbing us of exp. Admittedly I got sort of lucky beatrix didn't get static'd on rollout and electrode's sonicbooms/charge beams kept missing. Also, I plan on using Porygon this time, thing is where do you find the upgrade!? Also teddiursa isn't showing up in peridot either, it's driving me crazy.
  22. Lol some of these nicknames THE BOSS and Squidward had me laughing. Congrats, although I say that drapion is actually pretty awesome up until Samson where after it kind of gets less useful since its lack of physical power really shows around that part but is still great for setting up toxic spikes which has saved me quite a few times. Protean Greninja is a hero through and through. How did you get dragon dance on Scrafty?
  23. OH YES Thanks so much, I can finally get igglybuff out of perpetual suck mode.
  24. It's okay, ghost rotom can hold his own surprisingly well I learned. Beat Terra AND Ciel with help from it.
