  1. Forum name: Monochrome_Complex Server name: MonoComplex Year you joined Reborn: 2015 Favorite type: Fighting, Poison Least favorite type: normal First installment?: No, I had no idea this even was a thing until now haha. Availability: Not always regular scheduled, but I'm unavailable 5 days a week between 1:30PM and 12:00AM Pacific time. After midnight I usually am available and in the mornings before 1:30PM. 2 days of the week(my off days) I'm usually available all day unless stated otherwise.
  2. I'm totally lost. What is this pokenations thingy?
  3. Wait what is all this? Jeez I've been out of the loop...
  4. Delphox was so legit in my psychic/ice Reborn run I gained a whole new respect for it once I finished. It's pretty cool how despite being weak to shade's gym it managed to take out half of his team.
  5. Bulbasaur is NOT a frog, and therefore not an amphibian. I know it looks a lot like one but it's closer to a reptile.
  6. The tongue scarf is such a Japanese monster design quirk that I can't help but love it. Greninja would fit right at home among classic yokai, many of which were flat out weird or grotesque. Looking at Chestnaught more, it turns out the shell on its back was never removable like I thought and is kind of just there(I think he's an armadillo or is supposed to be now) which sort of makes him even more awkward than before. I feel like his shield gimmick could've been implemented better rather than just growing from the green on his arms which always looked silly. Like the idea of a paladin hedgehog/armadillo is pretty cool, but GF just completely dropped the ball on execution and ends up feeling like a pokemon that could've used more development time and a better design approach.
  7. Alright, who is the wiseguy that picked Infernape? Cause we gonna have to fight. Hmmm going by the entire line, and admittedly taking over design/execution over battle prowess, I'd have to pick Chesnaught easily. I know from the get go Chespin had the biggest chance of ending up a dud. Thing is, Chespin was kind of a vague pokemon in its theme and concept. Now admittedly so was froakie at first, but in motion we saw it would end up rouge or ninja like. Fennekin was figured to go in a magical-fox direction from the start, but nothing about Chespin really hinted at anything except hard as a chestnut. Even compared to the other two it hardly looks like its animal basis too much, like it's hard to tell it's a hedgehog at first glance. Remember how just far off base much of the fan evo concepts were? That's mainly due to Chespin's knight/warrior theme being too subdued to where once it evolved, it just felt haphazardly attached. Quilladin was the first sign of trouble and frankly just looks idiotic. It's not cute anymore, has become a fat pudgy moron, still doesn't play up the chestnut warrior thing up enough(they at least could've done something hinting at the shield to come later on but not even that), and I'd go as far as to say it's one of the worst evolutions visually in the entire franchise. It's not even that interesting ability wise and just feels like Chespin with obesity. And Chestnaught...man Samurott gets TOO much hate for being too drastic, but this guy is so much worse in this respect it's unbelievable. The colors...did somebody at GF switch the shiny with the default? Because that's what it looks like as Chestnaught's default colors not only look unappealing, but don't fit with the progression of the line much at all(with oshawott the shade of blue got progressively darker at least, but here white comes out of nowhere). Now the spiky shield thing playing off a chestnut's hardness is admittedly a nice idea, but the problem is that neither chespin or quilladin had any build up to this, you'd think that quilladin at least should've had something in its design building up to the shield gimmick, like it's shell starting to crack at the back or maybe even having a little buckler or something. Then there's Chestnaught's face, which looks straight up corny with those kind of eyes + the beard and head shape. The way his shield shell hangs on his back looks awkward and doesn't flow with its upright bidpedal position, plus it's weird picturing him using it. In fact, does he ever do so? Usually his spikey shield signature move has him forming a shield with his arms in his animation which I assumed was just a game representation thing when in reality he actually takes the shield off his back and uses that. But if the game animation is the canonical representation then his whole back shield is totally unnecessary and a waste of design. Chestnaught's entire design lacks cohesion and suffers from poor execution, as does Quilladin, which is a shame since I actually quite like Chespin's look otherwise.
  8. Bird pokemon are overdone. We get a new one(s) every generation after all We had an owl before so none of them get points for groundbreaking animal basis. But that's okay, a pokemon is more than just the animal it's based off.
  9. I forgot dark lol. I liked the music but I'd put it on good/okay borderline. The music was swell though so yeah I guess Good, but at the very end of it haha.
  10. Litten. It has the most striking colors, a personality unique among starters, and neat lore that ties into its basis. Popplio is my second favorite, as it has a lot of personality and a cool use of its powers, plus it's old timey cartoonish design makes it stand out. I don't like Rowlett much and his popularity is strange to me. Its eyes are JUST like starly's, its colors aren't that appealing, it doesnt have as much personality as the other two, and I hate bowties. I feel like the bowites play into internet geekery's fixation with psuedo-gentle wankery which may explain why it's so popular. I'd even say it's my least favorite grass starter as of yet.
  11. Yeah dragon honestly was one of the most underwhelming ones, which is a disappointing. The music didn't play off the visuals really too well at all, compare to say fighting/poison or steel. IMO i'd rank them like this, in 4 tiers: Excellent: Fighting, Psychic, Steel, Poison, Bug, Ghost, Normal Good: Ground,,Fairy, Fire, SeaWater, Grass, Flying, Normal2 Okay: Electric, Ice, Rock, Dragon, Meh: Freshwater
  12. I watched them all again and freshwater is easily the worst of the bunch, why are the PCs so ugly in it? Dawn is fat and it's just boring in comparison to the others. Poison is actually one of my favorites now, as the animation syncs with the music perfectly to where the reusage doesn't bother me as much. 2nd normal vid is here! It's the shortest one yet too.
  13. ^Yeah I was a bit disappointed in it as well. A remix of the sinnoh snow route + slateport city as the music set to a christmas visual theme would've been betterfor ice pokemon. I think the rock one was worse though, the first half of it was nearly as plain as freshwater. The second half was cool at least. I think for dragon we'll get a remix of dragon's den + dragonspiral tower. I thought normal had all its pokemon covered already but I guess not.
  14. True story: My monofighting team got swept twice by Cheren's simisage in his post E4 rematch during BW.
  15. Updated, ice, rock, and steel into the OP. Steel is badass, better than ice and rock for sure. apparently we're getting a second normal one next. I figured we'd get dragon but I guess they really wanted to show arceus and regigigas proper due.
  16. The mega-banette was the best part of the ghost vid. Hmmm yeah electric wasn't my favorite, but it was cute as a love letter to the creators of pokemon itself, being done in the style of a credits roll. The music didn't go all that well I thought, whereas with say, the psychic or poison vid the visuals play off the music perfectly.
  17. My my my Jasmil that was amazing. Gorgeous work there
  18. Sorry i haven't shown lately, I've been distracted HARD with other stuff, I figured things would be coming to a close soon though. That said, thanks Team Redemption. You guys put a lot of work into this, and it showed. We had a lot of fun with this thing and was definitely a worthwhile experience. :]
  19. These guys are mad underappreciated and it makes me sad. They have a nice concept, serve as decent enough early-midgame mons, and have some neat aspects to their designs. But people seem to just jump on the hatewagon and complain how there's too many of them despite this being a thing with certain pokemon in like every gen(Rattata was like everywhere in gen 1/2). While I'm not crazy about simisear simipour isn't really that bad(it works better as female though) and simisage is actually pretty badass and one of my favorite grass types. I kind of wonder how many people notice the little details in their designs, like simisear's "biker gloves" and torso + neck fur resembling a volcano, or really the whole Japanese subculture aspect of the designs in general. I feel there's a tendency among fans to write off designs just off looks alone without understanding the details or basis of the design in the first place.
  20. FINALLY we got updates on this project, I present to you electric and ground.Ice should be next, followed probably by what Nickcrash said. I guess they just wanted to save dragon for last.
  21. I didn't like that either, pretty much why dewgong was on the team in the first place lol. I remember the rest of the game being pretty easy except for Colress/Ghestis and Iris, but I was refraining from using items so it should be easier for you.
  22. Like who wouldn't? Yeah I never won but they were fun and the prizes are niiiiice.
  23. Games where your character doesn't really feel like a character, just an avatart o interact the game with. Dark Souls suffers from this and there feels like very little personal motivation for you to be doing what your're doing. You're effectively a puppet that just does whatever somebody tells you too. Really I think Dark souls, good as the series is, sucks at storytelling. The world building is fine(the lore people love so much), but the story feels disjointed and half baked, and the endings are always flat out terrible. It always felt more like they came up with an interesting backstory and setting but could never piece together a coherent main story.
  24. Wow you got the look of a Hollywood actress in that pic.
  25. It's a Rar file and for some reason I can't do that like with Reborn or Rejuv.
