  1. It just randomly stopped working. Like, I can't think of anything that would suddenly trigger it out of nowhere. Although if it matters, the last Pokemon I caught before the capture error started happening was a Mime Jr. in Wispy Ruins (of which I already had one from the Xen Lab), about 10 minutes before I attempted catching the Delibird in the icy cave beneath Akuwa Town. Before that was the Solrock in Amethyst Cave. The Delibird was also paralyzed, not sure if that would matter. The other two I threw Sleep Powder on instead. I could upload my save file, maybe there's something in there that could tell you something. https://www.dropbox.com/s/jqyl0uug937pn4h/Game.rxdata?dl=0
  2. I'm having the capture error too. If it matters, I attempted to throw like 5 Great Balls at a Delibird before soft resetting. Now Pokeballs in general don't work at all, not even closing and rebooting the game will work.
  3. Are these pipes supposed to block your way?
  4. Thanks for the quick fix. Now we get to test what's glitched behind surf pools on the mainland. So far, I've only found one, on the Wispy Path. Haven't checked Corta Forest, Wispy Ruins, and Amethyst Cave yet. Itemfinder says I'm standing on something, but I can't pick it up from any angle. (Also, it would appear that 2/5 of the ability capsules said to be added in this patch are beyond surf areas. One was the previously glitched item on the beach where the boat used to be. The other? Not telling. Haven't found the remaining two yet, although I'm betting one of them is the glitched item above.) --- EDIT: So, um... Amethyst Cave. Holy CRAP.
  5. So, um... I beat the gym leader. How do I return back to the mainland? Nim disappeared and I tried searching all over for a way back. If it matters, I never took her offer of returning to the mainland before defeating Valerie. EDIT: This is what the beach looks like for me. Nim is completely missing from my game after defeating Valerie, and she's nowhere on the boat or on the route. I'm literally trapped on the island with nowhere to go. Also, I heard you like surfing on docks.
  6. I'm going to work on a theory to beat Narcissa. Grab a good special attacking Pokemon that can learn Nature Power. Profit from Nature Power turning into Shadow Ball. Gain damage boost from field effect and inflict super effective damage. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (I haven't actually fought Narcissa yet. Probably won't be anywhere near that simple going off of the other impressions in this thread so far.)
  7. I'd like to ask, are there any other Electric types available right now besides Mareep? I never found any others, and if Mareep is the only one, then having your first electric type after the 3rd gym seems very, very late.
  8. Yeah numel are there. In the cave behind the waterfall where you follow keta and fight all those team xen. And also, yeah there are budews there but i think you can only encounter them in day? Not rly sure. I found my Budew at night actually. Would consider having it replace my Jumpluff especially since it has a Sp. Att nature and really good IVs, but at this point, Jumpluff is this game's designated speed beast for status/leech seed.
  9. Oh wow. I found a Lv. 1 Budew in Corta Forest. I wasn't even aware they were obtainable. Seems like a really rare encounter, considering checking the Pokedex entry says they're available even in Gearen City.
  10. random idea: Water surface field lets Splash lower accuracy right? What if there was some troll trainer that had 6 Magikarp doing nothing but that?

    1. Shing

      Shing

I'll kill these magikarp first with my electric type. So maybe other pokemon.

    2. Cepheus

      Cepheus

      I think Splash should become a basepower 120 priority-move!!!

      for maximum Troll!

  11. Well then. Seems everyone suddenly decided to start playing this game out of nowhere. Ten pages in 1 week, out of 33 pages when this thread was created last July. I get the impression this game should really have its own forum section now. --- Restarted, beat the Mewtwo. <3 Jumpluff. By the way, are there any ground types available besides Geodude, Sandshrew, and Onyx? EDIT: Also, is there any way to teach the purified Bonsly Mimic without burning the Heart Scale? I'm assuming no, but just in case...
  12. Welp, stuck at the Eli and Sharon fight at the Wispy Laboratory. Was training some new lower leveled Pokemon and didn't realize that in this particular section of the game, you're unable to return to a Pokemon Center to swap out Pokemon, plus there are no wild encounters to level on the side (the grass on the Wispy Path and fishing don't yield any wild Pokemon to fight while Team Xen is there). Should have brought my Granbull. The Gyarados just completely wrecks my current team.
  13. Oh lordy, the normal gym. Jumpluff and Granbull are the real MVPs. MASSIVE CHARM + LEECH SEED + SLEEP POWDER STALL. Although my team was pretty underleveled. Also, are Shadow Pokemon supposed to be getting moves they're not supposed to be learning when they get purified? My Vanillite and Sewaddle both have Will-o-Wisp (the latter is especially hilarious) and my Toxicroak has Zen Headbutt, for one. Not to mention Froakie with X-Scissor.
  14. Some feedback about the Venam fight... I would say having her poison field damage non-flying/poison Pokemon that switch in is a bit too much for what's supposed to be the first gym in the game. Especially since she's already throwing unremovable Toxic Spikes and mono-stage/second stage Pokemon like Seviper and Haunter at you. The field combined with Haunter's insane special attack and speed for that point in the game basically turns most Pokemon into one-turn sponges as you try to heal up the few Pokemon that could actually do something to it. Although this probably will become less of an issue if Pokemon availability before the 1st gym is re-visited in the future. Also, is Mareep normally available yet? I recently beat the Fighting gym and got my 2nd badge, but the lady with the Mareep still talks as if I don't have any badges at all. Would really like an electric type right about now. (I would also like to say Granbull + Skiploom is hilarious against Keta. Granbull Intimidate/Charm + Skiploom outspeeding EVERYTHING for Sleep Powder/Leech Seed = Keta can't really kill any of your Pokemon. Even better if you manage to get Skiploom evolved to Jumpluff, oh lordy.)
  15. I think that by 'moved back', he meant 'moved to an earlier point in the game'. Although if we move too many Pokemon to an earlier point in the game, exactly which Pokemon do we put in their place? We're going to run out of filler wild Pokemon eventually, especially in terms of keeping them thematically appropriate for the area. I suppose there could simply be more one-off events to make certain Pokemon available earlier while keeping the wild encounters where they are. This would be the best solution, although I don't know exactly how much work it takes to program such events. But hey, Ame puts tremendous effort into programming this game already, if something NEEDS to be done, she'll do it. We can rest easy on that front. Let's bring back that list that was posted a few pages ago, so at least we'd all be on the same page.
  16. The egg moves I had in mind would be of the more strategic type or to make up for deficiencies in their early learnset. Squirtle for instance isn't lacking in water moves, it's the abilities that are a bit lacking + it can't really use any of the currently available TMs (until we get Surf, I guess). So giving Yawn to Squirtle at the beginning of the game probably wouldn't be much of an issue, considering Squirtle is weak against the first two gyms (and Yawn won't even work in Julia's Electric Field). Chikorita has problems all-around. So it could start with something stronger, like an early Aromatherapy or Leech Seed. Maybe even Counter. Totodile doesn't learn any physical Water moves until Aqua Tail in the 60's or we get Dive/Waterfall. Having Aqua Jet would be greatly appreciated. So on and so forth, on a case by case basis, I guess?
  17. Eh, how is he condescending though? Looking through the actual moveset myself, yeah, I kinda see his point. But at the same time, Brave Bird and Flare Blitz are both move tutor attacks, and the move tutor isn't exactly very far into the game anymore. One could argue that if Talonflame's early learnset is bad, what's to stop them from just ignoring it until they reach the point in the game where that Pokemon would become very relevant and leveling it up then, thus skipping most of the struggle? This thread's purpose isn't about arguing over the placement of a Pokemon with a bad early level moveset that becomes potentially amazing towards the second half of the game. It's about Pokemon available towards the second half of the game that would normally not be considered for use at all because of how late in the game they're in. --- I think before we continue any further about arguing about specific Pokemon placement, we should be looking at something that is probably just as important, if not even more than individual Pokemon - the placement of TMs. As it is now, we probably only have access to about a third of the TMs in the whole game, some of the late-game ones actually being way stronger than what we don't actually have yet! For example, Charlotte gives us Flamethrower, but its weaker counterpart Incinerate is nowhere to be found. I'm not saying replace Charlotte's Flamethrower, I'm saying to place Incinerate somewhere earlier in the game, like maybe within the volcano somewhere. And for some reason, we get Shadow Ball rather early in the game, and the list of Pokemon that learn Shadow Ball compared to the weaker physical Shadow Claw is 2-3x larger than the latter. We get the Brick Break TM from Samson, but we don't have Power-Up Punch or Low Sweep yet. Assuming the prize for defeating Ciel later on would be Acrobatics, having Aerial Ace or Sky Drop available earlier wouldn't be bad. (Would help spruce up Talonflame's bad early level learnset, actually - although it could be used as justification for pushing back Talonflame too.) Someone brought up Kabutop's terrible learnset. A Smack Down or Rock Tomb TM being available would actually make Kabutops not completely terrible. --- My suggestion for giving an egg move to the lesser used starters got completely ignored. I don't know if it just got buried under the Talonflame debate or it's not that good of an idea.
  18. I would love for a Taillow to be made available earlier as well. Perhaps after Florinia, maybe as an event somewhere in Beryl. Taillow needs Facade and a Toxic Orb (or a Burn Orb) in order to truly start wrecking, and one's a casino prize requiring a hefty cash investment while the other can't be legitimately obtained until the next episode at the very earliest. Taillow can also only learn Brave Bird and Roost through breeding, and currently the only candidates to breed are Farfetch'd (Brave Bird only, Lv. 51) and Ducklett (Lv. 41 for both, you'd have to raise that Ducklett from the egg or wait until you reach Tanzan Cove, which is around the same time Taillow is normally available anyway). Meanwhile, you can already start working on a Murkrow as early as before Shelly, and have a Moxie Sucker Punching Honchkrow as soon as you clear the Railnet. You can also get Archeops right before Serra. IMO Archeops is pretty broken for when it's available, but I'm not sure where would be a good place to move it. Maybe look at the fossils from the Museum (Titoruga and Archen) and 7th Street (Amaura and Tyrunt) events, and swap Archen with Amaura.
  19. I don't think Serra is even the point with regards to Talonflame. There's still Samson later on, Talonflame has resistance against Charolette, and would completely trivialize the Blake fight too. The biggest threat from Terra is probably her Excadrill, and Talonflame would burn its face off. Or if it can't, sacrifice itself to get off a priority Tailwind to turn Terra's field against her with regards to giving your team the critical hit rate advantage, not to mention the immunity to ground attacks despite it being a fire type. Talonflame may be bad for the start of the game, but I get the impression it does too much from Serra and onward. Like, I don't think anyone would even consider using any other Fire (besides Blaziken) AND Flying types if Talonflame was made available too early. I would say putting Talonflame in the upcoming chapter would be fair, that would dodge all the fights that it'd steamroll, and this is also assuming the upcoming gyms consist of Amaria and Hardy. Crobat keeps being brought up, but it doesn't know any Fire moves. It wouldn't really be able to hold its own against Serra and Blake, along with the various steel types peppered into other gym leaders' rosters (such as Radmous' Metagross and Luna's Bisharp). --- Regarding starters... Scripting different events for different starters sounds incredibly convoluted. I think it'd be much simpler to give the lesser used starters one egg move right off the bat. Like... - Squirtle: Yawn - Chikorita: Aromatherapy? Leech Seed? - Totodile: Aqua Jet - Treecko: Bullet Seed - Turtwig: Growth? Sand Tomb? - Chimchar: Encore - Tepig: Curse? Yawn?
  20. Ralts is insane with ORAS level-up now though. I would know because shortly after the release of Episode 14, I took advantage of the trading thread at the time to bring a Ralts onto a new save file. Ralts has like no problems in the early game + reaches final stage ridiculously early too. Ralts is fine where it is. Oh, I think having a Larvesta available at Pyorous Mountain is warranted, considering you have to train it all the way to Lv. 59 in order for it to evolve, and I'd imagine leveling it is just pure hell up until then. Also makes sense considering Volcarona are expected to be found around volcanoes. Maybe make a new event where you have to fight a Lv. 65 Volcarona for possession of the egg, replacing the Heatmor event in some fashion. Heatmor could probably be made available after Shelly, as a trade. Maybe for a Cherrim.
  21. Oh. Then change it to after Radomus if Gastly gets moved there then. Also, now that the Move Tutor has been moved to after defeating Aya, I think there could probably be an event Luvdisc towards the beginning of the game. This would also have the effect of moving the Darumaka trade to before facing Kiki, unless it gets switched to Alomomola (who I think should also get moved from Iolia Valley fishing to the Tanzan Cove hideout, or the cave near Spinel Town where the Mystic Water is located).
  22. I think the Gastly event could have its position switched with the Solosis event. Don't think it'd cause too much trouble considering IIRC the Solosis event requires Radomus defeated before you can access that part of the Wasteland, and there aren't any major fights that the Reuniculs line could completely steamroll after Aya.
  23. I think Carbink should be available earlier, maybe underneath the Grand Stairway, after you defeat Shelly (as in, behind a Rock Smash boulder). Most people probably wouldn't even consider picking up an underleveled Carbink as late as Iolia Valley. Since we don't get the Toxic TM yet, Carbink is basically a just a Stealth Rock wall for most of the game, when there are many other rock types available earlier that also know Stealth Rock and have much better offensive options. Carbink is also genderless, so we can't exactly breed its Stealth Rock and other moves onto other Pokemon as well.
  24. I'm at Sheridan Village right now, and the first help request I completed there was the 'Rare Pokemon' one. After completing that one, I was unable to take any further requests (the game still thinks I'm taking a request). If it matters, I'm also currently tracking down the Fennekin after helping that girl's boyfriend.
