  1. Let me speak out in favor of open rooms. Last time nations was run we (the mythic nation) had what is basically an open door policy. Everyone else had locks on their rooms and we didn't. We also won so it clearly didn't negatively affect our performance any. In fact I'd argue that it improved our performance quite significantly. Because we had an open door policy people from other nations would quite frequently drop by to chat, and that was fine, we enjoyed the company. When it came time to talk strategy we'd ask them to leave and they would, simple as that. But the biggest factor in deciding who won nations was member commitment and participation, and we outshone the others by far, in part at least I think due to the friendly and inclusive nature of our nation. To me this demonstrates that while you may think you're avoiding a risk by locking your doors, what you're actually doing is inviting a bigger one.
  2. Why all the hate for Meganium? It's a dinosaur crossed with a massive epic looking flower. Think about that for a second. Emboar on the other hand is a pig on fire. I don't give a damn if it's good in RU, it looks freakin' dumb.
  3. It's possible that we won't get any fossil pokemon this generation. I know it hasn't happened since gen 2, and gen 2 was a glorified expansion of gen 1 in a lot of ways but Hawaii is geologically very recent. There aren't a lot of reliable sources online that give an age of Hawaii's initial formation but after a bit of digging it seems like Hawaii not only post dates the dinosaurs, but it even post dates humans. At the very least the place isn't exactly known for fossil deposits.
  4. Based solely on first impressions, which do you think you will/would pick? I might check back again later when the final evos are released to gauge how much the opinions of the community have changed. For now though I'm just interested to know.
  5. So can we all agree that the owl starter is the best thing since forever then?
  6. They have Steelix? Sure you don't want to come in on an Earthquake but that just means that they have to predict as much as you do. Oh and Phys Def Gastro walls it too. But Mawile in PU? That is sexy.
  7. Your Forum Name: Sheepcat (Usually just Sheep I guess). Your Server Name: Mystic Sheep The Year You Joined Reborn: 2014. Your Favorite Type (Yes you can have more than one): Bug, Normal, Fighting, Flying, and Grass would be the higher ones. Bug is easily my favorite though. Your Least Favorite Type: Honestly I'm not big on Ice, Ghost, Dragon, or Fairy. Did you participate in the first installment of PokeNations? #WeFam. In other words yes. General Availability: Uh not great. I spend a lot of time at home, so I can make it for a quick battle but I'm a busy guy. Time zones don't help much either but I can get around it.
  8. All kinds of birthdays for all kinds of important people these days. Yeah, Comet we haven't forgotten about you over here and we ain't about to. Come visit sometime, you'll get the warmest welcome you've ever seen. Happy birthday friend, I miss you a ton.
  9. WOLOLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO \o/ A really happy birthday to my favorite sister. I can see by the music video you posted that our order has been busy in our absence, this pleases me. You're a brilliant artist, a great conversationalist, an even better friend, and you've made me chuckle more times than I can count. I really wish you all the best today and for the future.
  10. It's just the way the meta is evolving. If you look at the top 20 used pokemon in OU across the last couple of months 9 of them (Talonflame, Latios, Clefable, Azumarill, Tornadus-T, Starmie, Skarmory, M-Scizor, and Latias) give it significant amounts of trouble while a further 4 (Landorus-T, Garchomp, Ferrothorn, and Jirachi) can be difficult to deal with when played well. Some of the more mid usage threats like Breloom, Kyurem-B, M-Diancie, Scizor, and M-Sableye are also able to either reasonably revenge kill it or abuse/set up on it in some way. 9 games out of 10 you'll see 1, 2, or even 3 of these pokemon on a team and they're making life difficult for him. The biggest factor is his speed though, once he does kill something it's very easy for an opponent to bring in an offensive threat of their own to either revenge kill or force you to switch and take a nasty hit in the process.
  11. Start somewhere and stop whenever you need to take a break. Try focusing on one thing at a time, it'll help to not get overwhelmed.
  12. By mixed he means specs with Sacred Sword, or is it Secret Sword? Whichever one hits Def rather than SpDef despite being a special attack. The second line I left in is completely correct, comparing Breloom, Conkeldurr, and Keldeo isn't really fair as they all play different roles. It's just that Breloom and Keldeo still perform their roles well in OU, while Conk is becoming harder and harder to use. That's not to say that it can't be used, but it's just not as good as it used to be. No-one wants to be set up fodder for Phys Def CM Clefable.
  13. When's the last time you ever saw smogon ban a wall? They don't, they only ever suspect threats in my experience. If Florges does drop to RU I can see it staying there. And there's a lot more than that going on this month. Big drops across the spectrum are projected for next month. Gastrodon/Aggron/Trevenant to NU, Muk to PU. If it all happens then the meta's gonna go crazy. Rock Head Aggron in NU?
  14. This is entirely true, but I don't see why it's a bad thing. Sylveon makes Florges near obsolete in UU while being only marginally better itself so it won't get banned. Then Florges potentially drops to RU, where it'd be great but probably not broken thanks to the overabundance of M-Steelix. That causes Aromatisse to drop to NU because there's no way it can compete with Florges, where it sits alongside M-Audino. What part of this is unfortunate?
  15. why not the April stats? Or just wait a few days and get the next big round of drops and rises? Edit: You've already acknowledged that the reason Magnezone is in OU is Magnet Pull. A M-Magnezone with Levitate would just get shunted into the same category as M-Garchomp and M-Tyranitar imo. Magnezone was in UU for some of XY. It got banned to BL because it paved the way for set up sweepers too easily. With Salamence, Gyarados, Haxorus, and Crawdaunt all present in UU, Magnezone would be banned again. That's all irrelevant though as it already has been banned, so if it no longer had the usage for OU it would just go back to BL. That's the way it works. Unfortunately so long as M-Steelix Alomomola cores remains prevalent in RU Escavalier won't get far. I wish it was otherwise. M-Gyarados was in ORAS UU when Gyarados initially dropped. It got quick banned to BL in an instant because it broke the tier.
  16. It's actually not. If you look at the usage stats for OU Conkeldurr is due to drop to UU next month along with Sylveon. Too many Flying and Steel types respectively for them, in particular too much M-Metagross I guess.
  17. Huh, that's a new one. Uh, Hap birt.
  18. Give Water/Bug pls. No seriously, offensively this type combination is a Water type that kills Grass and a Bug type that kills Rock and Fire. The only pokemon that resist the dual STAB are water types that resist bug. Stuff like Tentacruel, Empoleon, and Gyarados. That's pretty damn good coverage on two STAB moves. Defensively it's also pretty cool, boasting resistances to Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, and Ice while only weak to Flying, Rock, and Electric. Notably it's a Water type that isn't weak to Grass and a Bug type that isn't weak to Fire.
  19. 1. Flying. 2. Steel. 3. Water. 4. Fighting. 5. Dark. 6. Dragon. 7. Ground. 8. Psychic. 9. Fire. 10. Fairy. 11. Bug. 12. Poison. 13. Grass. 14. Normal. 15. Electric. 16. Ghost. 17. Ice. 18. Rock.
  20. Put simply, yeah it is. I've used one and it works well. Sludge Wave/Dragon Pulse/Toxic/Surf is a good way to go. Fills your surfing needs, can toxic bosses and PULSE 'mons, and generally hits really hard while taking hits well.
  21. Hey DD, you're an actual bro. Keep being awesome and have a great birthday!
  22. Wait you want me to burn this? Are you crazy? In the level 5 version of the field: Heracross Swarm boosted Megahorn: 1080 Base Power. Lilligant Petal Dance (with my choice of Chlorophyll or Own Tempo): 810 Base Power (607.5 hitting both opponents in a double battle). I'm not going to destroy this work of art. I'm going to abuse the hell out of it.
  23. If it's Shade's gym you're looking for then it's the powerplant just above the cave you're in with the level 57 Beartic.
  24. Happy Birthday! Keep on working hard at it mate.
  25. You can't mine until after Shelly, and honestly they'd be no more insane than Lilligant. Perhaps that's more of an argument against Lilligant though. Also, Misdreavus isn't available until after Aya. Most people won't evolve Growlithe until after Kiki because they'll want Flare Blitz. Arcanine's a bit of a non issue.
