  1. Kevin "It's just back in the cultural district." Shiori said with more than a hint of impatience, "Come on, let's get going already!" "Yes, we should hurry before they move again and we lose sight of them." Kevin agreed. ~~~ A short while later, Archer and Kevin found themselves in the parking lot of a store selling European food products. They had already split from Shiori, who was to keep hidden and only reveal herself should a fight break out. Apparently the enemy servant was atop the roof, though Shiori wasn't entirely certain due to their cloaked presence. They also knew nothing of the opposing master's whereabouts, leaving them as a wildcard. By now it would be obvious to the other servant who Kevin was, hopefully the fact that they hadn't attempted to attack yet would give them some good faith. And seeing as they'd come this far, Kevin saw nothing to lose in calling out, "We know you're up there. Come out so we can talk and/or fight to the death." Talk was preferable, but Kevin figured if he only offered to talk it would be suspicious. Or maybe he was just being foolish by showing his hand right off the bat, probably the latter. Merlin "Alright then, let's go!" Merlin announced happily. She wasn't exactly confident that they could win, but at this point she was through with caring. She hopped onto her broom and took to the skies, holding her hat in place as she flew up to meet the flying ship. She didn't bother waiting to see what it would do, instead choosing to unleash a storm of fireballs at it as she approached. Considering it was clearly not a normal ship, she doubted it would just catch fire and burn up, but maybe she'd get lucky and could at least damage it enough to get her Aether ready.
  2. Lexi Lexi completely ignored all the attention being sent her way. Instead, she chose to reach down and pick up a leaf, staring at that instead. After a few moments she seemed content and continued walking. And a few moments after that she seemed to notice that she had been spoken to. "Oh, no, it's not too heavy." She said, "I just like identifying trees for whatever reason." She shrugged and kept walking. The whole point of hiking was to see nature or whatever, she might as well actually look at the nature-stuff then, right? And if it took them longer to get to some spooky cemetery? Even better. Natalie Natalie was rather impartial to art projects, and wood carving was no exception. But with how things had been going lately, it was actually a rather comforting distraction. Unfortunately, she was interrupted by a much more annoying distraction when Naya decided to sit down next to her. "Hi Natalie! It's really good to see you." She said. "Hello Naya." Natalie responded dismissively, making a show of focusing on the penguin she was carving. Naya seemed to take that as a cue to ask about said flower. "What's that you're carving?" "It's a penguin." "What's a penguin?" "It's a flightless bird native to Layo." Natalie paused before adding, "I think they're cute." "Uh-huh." Naya was clearly uninterested, "Anyways, I was just wondering... Where are your roommates?" Katherine Though she was technically supervising the project, Katherine wasn't actually doing much. Wood carving was such a standard activity that everyone was fine just getting to it on their own. But she did take a personal interest in the activity, it always fascinated her to see what her students would create. Wood carving was historically used to create religious art for the church, but more often nowadays it was a form of artistic expression. Or for those who, like Katherine, were terrible at it, a source of frustration. But she preferred to consider the positive aspects. To help focus on those positive aspects, she approached one of the girls currently under her charge, Arturia. "Pardon the intrusion, I was just wondering what you're making." she asked kindly.

  4. Terumi The building Rodin had directed Terumi to was exactly as drab as every other building he'd seen. The door had several names scrawled on it in various ways, but all had been scratched out to the point of being unreadable. The inside was equally sparse as the outside, the barren stone room being empty save for a pair of ragged blankets tossed haphazardly in the corner and a small candle mounted on the back wall.
  5. Katsuo Katsuo rolled his eyes. Like he needed to be told to hit things. He fed Gwaedu a cartridge and smashed her into their foe with all his might. Energy pulsed along the tendril that bound them and Katsuo's strength was restored. Katsuo uses Bleeding Moon (2d10+STR[18]+1.5SYN[1.5(9)=14] damage, heals Katsuo for 3SYN[3(9)=27] HP) on Lahmu B. -1 Cart. 54/74HP, 7/8 Carts, Blood Pact with Lahmu B (1 turn), Bloodsoaked[1] +3 SYN, +10STR (1 turn). 7CON|0RES|0DEX|1INT|18STR|9SYN SYN/2 Healing on Basic Attacks. Gains 3SYN after taking at least 11 damage from a single attack. CDs:

  7. (OOC: The rest in the morning Kdone) Swag As the finger blaster exploded in midair, energy coursed through Swagalicious's armor. Being aware that Sully used electromagnetism (it was pretty obvious) he put all of his temporary extra armor into electromagnetic shielding. This turned out to be a very smart choice as the EMP nearly instantly overtook his position and would have screwed him up bigtime. "Not a shrink." Swag said. He dashed forward with blinding speed, stopping barely a meter away from the Revenant, and unleashed a barrage of pink lasers from his titty guns at his opponent's right arm. "I just know someone a lot like you. She's never been good at letting things go, I doubt you are either. But at least she knows how to keep her cool when there's something bigger at stake." Lord The instant the Hellfire Knight dodged, Lord canceled her charge and redirected herself to land on the ground. She was going to fire off another punch when she was surprised by Hiroki grabbing her arm. But Lord didn't let a moment of surprise stop her, she turned it to her favor. She yanked back her captured arm, intending to pull her opponent along with it, and at the same time stepped into a full force punch with her free fist. Bear The entire arena shook with a violent force as the Giant smashed the ground to bits. The bees continued firing as the very ground itself erupted around Bear. But as the dust cleared, their assault ceased. The mighty Sleeping Bear lay still, unmoving, just as it had since the beginning. But now the constant movement of its bee swarm was still as well. Even Bear's heavy armor seemed to have taken quite a beating from Mommo's earth-shattering, and for a moment it might have seemed like she had won. But that moment was quickly shattered as a yawn from Bear droned into her comms. "I commend you for your effort and perseverance." He said, sounding genuinely impressed, "But you shouldn't wake a sleeping bear." With a metallic groan, Sleeping Bear pushed itself up into a sitting position. The swarm of bees receded back to it, wrapping around its limbs and merging with them, increasing their size and bulk. The mech's eyes snapped open, glowing with a bright white light. And then came the charge. With unimaginable speed for something so large, Bear closed the gap between himself and the Giant. He smashed into her, knocking her from her feet. He pinned her down with his immense weight and tore at her armor with his massive and sharp claws. Yet even in this state, his attack were calculated, he didn't attempt to break through and destroy Mommo's armor, but instead attempted to tear it off entirely. Seeker (OOC: BTW Acqui, you can have all the stuff from your ability if you want it.) Break free. With barely any effort, Seeker tugged the chain free, though by this point the javelin had lost all momentum. Return. That being the case, she called it back and it rapidly retracted to her waiting grasp. Holding her main spear at the ready, she began a slow but purposeful march towards her opponent. She didn't make any move to attack, but it was apparent from her steady approach that she had plans to do so when she got within range. Queen Queen nodded his thanks to Strider just before she moved to attack. He matched the direction of her dash, though he came nowhere near to touching the pace. He held up his gauntlets in a guarded position to help deflect the hail of bullets, his ability draining away a chunk of their kinetic energy for his later use. It wasn't anything special to start with, but Strider immediately taking the initiative was good to see. He was still young, yet he had seen so many examples of powerful people faltering when faced with a real threat or decision. Queen was no exception to this, falter and question himself seemed to be all he was capable of sometimes, and it helped far more than Morgan could ever know to see her be so unwavering in a fight. Still, confidence alone would not defeat Nil. Now she would have to show him what she was capable of.
  8. So all those mindfricks in my last status, my brain can handle those. But the revelation that the little piggy who goes to market isn't going shopping has completely blown my mind.

      Flux

      Where's he going then?

Oh wait... I literally just understood it after typing that, so I'm just gonna leave it there... Poor piggy.

Also, at one point in your life, your parents set you down and never picked you back up again.

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  9. I'm finding that I really like games where the main goal (or at least a key goal) is exploration. Just running around and finding random new stuff is a lot of fun.

    1. Howin

      Howin

That's always been one of my favorite things. Something about growing up in Australia and playing games that thrived on imaginative worlds to explore really gave me a love for it. You might find that it extends to the real world too.

  10. So I was sick, which made every day Saturday. And then I was better but not doing anything, so yesterday was Sunday. And thus I thought today was Monday and I would be available to do stuff. It's really not Monday.

  11. Merlin Though pretty much every attack managed to at least damage the walls, the one that actually got them free was Dreaming Guardian as she used to her power to convert an entire section of mobile wall into a golem for her own control. Unfortunately, behind the wall was not an empty hallway, but instead a large square room, the floor made entirely of Wrath's lava. It didn't pose an immediate threat, but considering it had no obvious exits, neither did it seem like a particularly useful path to take. "Well, that can't be good." Merlin pointed out the obvious, "Great job on that wall though." Wendy Wendigo looked rather dumbfounded. "Yes, it happened in my sleep. I thought that was obvious." Wendy was becoming increasingly convinced that Anemone was not as smart as Wendy had thought, or at least a little slow. But it seemed Anemone was finally up to speed and could provide new insight. "I don't recall any nightmares, but we can't rule it out." Tallow Forge received a negative response, akin to a shake of the head. "Maybe near the middle?" Tallow suggested. He didn't seem worried about it. It didn't take long for Forge to see why. They suddenly darted to the end of the hall, paused for a moment, and then darted through the wall into the next hallway. Dashing like that could be disorienting, but as long as he didn't go too far in a single burst, Tallow was usually fine. Genie Genie still seemed off as she switched out the question sheets on the clipboard. "It's just... Loki's mother's genetic records were kept from me for some reason. But since I have the run of the place now, I decided to look into them." She said as she handed Ice the new set of questions, "And, well, they were impossible. According to our records, Loki is an exact genetic copy of her mother." She shook her head to clear it again. "Sorry, I shouldn't dump weird stuff on you when we don't have time to deal with it. Let's just deal with the next patient. Oh, and use this to call me if you have any issues." She handed Ice a palm-sized plastic button. "Next up is I234, I believe she's been named Tensi, though I didn't catch who by." Genie explained, "Her record isn't too long: I234: No Alias. Age nine. Female. No outsider parents. Generates heat uncontrollably, requires constant regulation. Subject of internal power generation study: Failure. Subject of magic installation: Failure. No other experiments on record. Highly volatile temper. Correction: In progress. No useful genetic prospects. Record end. Personal addendum (C1111): Heat output seems to be increasing with age." Tensi specific questions: Caliber Caliber watched in silence as Cheryn slowly smothered the fire. She could see that the shield mage was at her limit just as the fire was finally snuffed out. Caliber didn't exactly feel guilty over what she'd done, but she did feel sort of relieved that Cheryn had stopped her from killing herself. In hindsight it felt like a worthless way to go. "Thanks for that." she mumbled in Cheryn's general direction. "So, um, I guess we should head back and help supervise the little ones? ...Though I think the ones who really need supervision, aside from myself obviously, are Meltdown and Accelerator." Though she didn't like to show it, Caliber cared deeply about all of her fellow freaks, not just Tallow. Even if they tended to avoid her, she had watched them all from afar and knew much about them. Perhaps she was lonely at heart, she wasn't sure what exactly. Something had drawn her to watch over the others. It was from that very watching that she had come to despise this horrible, horrible room.

This made me remember Temple of the Ocean King in Phantom Hourglass. while I kind of liked the temple overall, having to keep going back through the same areas and then some more each time got a bit annoying, and the timer made it fairly stressful too, though the safe spots made that not too bad.

      Wolfox

yeah, TToToK can be really annoying.

And the water temple... that's a demon in and of itself.
