  1. If you have the same luck I have, you'll here back from him about 7 months later. Yes, that actually happened to me (or don't remember the exact length...but you get my point). And oh lordy Luna and Archy in the same room is going to be a nightmare for everybody around them. (I could imagine her calling him Archy...making him even more irritated).
  2. Reborn's difficulty will change to find a middle ground. They are not easy, nor have they ever been. If you're a skilled battler like myself though, they might be easy and you may then put restraints on yourself. Also back then, we didn't have a flood of people ready to help so most of the time you had to do things yourself. There is one thing that you people can do to rebel against this nerfing though. I'm not really advertising Hardcore right now, but more of giving it popularity. I'm definitely completely open about giving Ame and her team the Trainer.txt file I have for a challenge mode to be implemented in the official game. People can also give feedback to improve the mod. Heck, I thought Nidoqueen would be too hard for Corey so I gave it weaker moves, but apparently it might be too easy.
  3. Yeah...no, not making a joke about that given what's happened. Truthfully, I have my own list of drama things that need to get done like writing Revolutions plot.
  4. That's half the reason we developed the tag system so we can keep track of our posts and interactions. That's not why your RP failed though. I'll admit I made me leave when I knew this wasn't the RP for me (that and the whole learning Yu-Gi-Oh on a manual system is kind of frustrating). I'll admit that the choice based system definitely kept things moving along as when Dobby chucked that system...I think things slowly fell apart. I kind of asked a couple things about why my RP failed and made some notes to try and fix (the biggest issue was the boring battle system which pretty much was slow, tedious, and turned everyone off by that point). It's going to be hell in and of itself to get any layout changes for the RP forum which is why I originally suggested separating the OOCs/Sing-ups/Interest Checks with the other topics on here. It would allow for a much greater amount of diversity and things like you suggested Thomas, without being too much of a hassle to design. Dobby's idea and your layout won't happen anytime soon. I can justify my idea as this sub-forum does tend to get very messy with all the RPs in play at the same place making it sometimes hard to find new RPs or keep track of slower one I'm following. That's half the reason we're limited to so many topics per RP. I feel like the elephant in the room we've all simply been skipping over is lack of interest. If someone is not too interested in a RP, they likely aren't going to be as motivated to post...causing an issue in no engagement. I'll admit it. Part of the reason I don't post or struggle to post is because I dipped my foot into something I didn't realize I wouldn't like. Sometimes, people don't say anything in order not to hurt someone's feelings. I think we all need to just reevaluate our RPs (I know I did) and why they failed or stopped before jumping to any conclusions.
  5. I totally probably would've thought that until I saw the title Pretty Boy and I was like wut? -My worst had to be mistaking El for Hank Ischtar from Yu-Gi-Oh abridged. Just imagining him with that voice just made it so that I couldn't take him seriously (though I suppose it's not too much of a stretch as they have similarities).
  6. I think it has to do with the levels of engagement, Rose. Obviously, all of us are quite interested in the topic and believe we have something to bring to the table though we don't know what will come of it, we're not afraid to say it. Half the reason I couldn't keep that old Fire Emblem RP was that I couldn't make the battles interesting as it was mostly me controlling them and had to explain so much. It didn't feel like much thought was being put in it from the players. For the reroll, I'm trying out a roll type system where basically higher numbers are good while lower numbers are bad. Basically, it's an easy way to force some independence or trying things out when a bad draw happens as it's possible to get out of it if you use the system to your advantage. Bloody 10s are insta-death to whoever is attacking so nothing is ever certain. It's kind of like giving advice without giving advice at all as they are the ones who have to make the decisions.
  7. ROFL! That mod was created for a reason. The term OP is really ambiguous and very hard to define as the term is very different for everyone. Me personally, I only ever found Hax Queen Serra to be OP as evasion is very difficult to counter and she had some quite strong attacks to boot. Even in Hardcore, I had to test for nerfs like Reborn under these circumstances: -How powerful is this Pokemon? If it's very powerful, can it be stopped by a large handful of Pokemon? -Does the Pokemon fit the theme? -How well does the Pokemon perform? Do the faults harm it too much to add to the team? -Can the fight be won with a well rounded team? If not, can it be won mostly with just one Pokemon? Obviously, I'm more about using teams and strategies when creating that mod then making them as tough as possible. Reborn has a very steep learning curve for new players given it's difficulty, but many of the nerfs were made so that newer players can slowly work their way into getting better and better. Half the reason Hardcore could even be made is that vets have gotten so good, they can take down any leader quite easily. But when you compare Wattson to Julia, it's pretty fair to call Julia OP. Heck, I thought Julia was insane the first time I ever fought her which is exactly why I made the Hardcore one quite a challenge. They felt pretty OP to the main games which is what most people have only gotten taste of before picking up Reborn. Finding the balance between the noobs and the people who think it's a joke is quite difficult and I also had to think about that when amping up the game difficulty. Because of this, it could be argued Hardcore is too easy while some people say it's way too OP compared to Reborn.
  8. Trust me when I say very few people will be able to do a rent sub-section as we're making a very high bar on it (It'll be about 7,200-9,000 for the first full years). It's not some simple everybody make one as that'd be like saying everyone can buy ace. I still don't think completely changing the layout is the key problem in all of this as we have a small group of roleplayers. However, it is something to consider down the line to speed up some roleplay. I myself prefer a more linear type roleplay and would probably pass on a bigger roleplay idea like Thomas suggested. This is already starting to go around in circles so I do suggest we stop presenting changes in the overall layout and get back to the main focus of the problem and what power a normal user has to fix it. We're a community within a community, so changes need huge justification and proof that they will work. Just saying it will isn't exactly proof and the full Reborn community is a bit...strange which is why I love it here.
  9. Thomas, I get what you're say, but that in and of itself is a problem within a problem. This is not a roleplay site so something like that would not work and with 10 or so roleplays getting at once, we're just going to get into a mess of keeping track of what stuff goes where. I do prefer the everybody on one page method for smaller groups so that I don't have to keep flipping topic after topic to figure out what is going on. Ymora is one of the very rare big ones so...I can't justify that many topics. At the most, we'll have a sub-sub forum where OOCs go and then have the ability to create more than one post topic in the main section. However, now is not the time or justification to do such actions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I also think the forum is still quite young so most people are not too familiar with the basics and we often go through waves of new members. Instead of trying to fight about what we need to do, maybe it might be a good idea to ask some of the less involved and not very well know RPers who have been on for a short amount of time. I know when I first joined, I felt like a deer in the headlights and still have days where I'm not quite too sure what to do to start off in an RP. We are not a community built around roleplay which is the big reason why people are so quiet or not knowing. It's kind of like asking any of us to build a program for a game...with little to no instructions. Those who are familiar with it will succeed rather quickly and others will start slow and force themselves to catch up (like me), but the majority will struggle so much they'll simply quit before it begins. We just need to rework RPs so that they're easy to learn and that the community is really trying to help.
  10. That thing is going to turn into something that horrifies children, isn't it?
  11. Wait, I think I understand what the annoucement is: Se7en confirmed to be released Jan 1, 2016.
  12. I'm not sure when exactly I'll have a sign-ups sheet open as I still need to work a lot of kinks out of the old system. I've already brought back the good old RNG any FE fan will recall right away that's played out a little differently. I just need to think how encounters will work and it should be set.
  13. Yeah, I'm kind of glad this is getting addressed. I think I'll be able to cover most of them with the two points Dobby made a bit earlier. I disagree with this a bit. It's not knowing, but not wanting to. It's not the best example, but it'll demonstrate my point. That reroll interest check I just released had two different options in it. In a nutshell, both options were very similar except one where players were on the same side and the host controlled many of the situations and the other being players against players with a host who basically gives you the freedom to do just about anything (that doesn't mean said actions can't come without consequence). I based the second idea off of the battlegrounds rp, but with a more balanced and faster system of fighting. What really surprised me is not a single one asked me about the second option saying they'd all prefer the first. Not even questioning something like that. I'm not saying one or another is better, but I prefer the option that gives me more freedom honestly as it means less questioning about what I'm doing is going to get me kicked out. In Ymora, I played with these boundaries many, many times, but it wasn't until I'd get scolded or yelled at that I stopped trying so much. I kind of hate how sometimes you have to ask or question when entering most convos. Even though I'm probably considered a veteran now, I'm probably going to do it all over again. Yes there is something called Metaing which is against RP etiquette, but I feel an untold rule is not to barge into conversations unless asking permission. Yeah, I might get a little angry that someone barged into a very private and important conversation, but it's just a story and sometimes stuff like that happens in real life. Often, I just go with it then unless it's a common occurrence. It kind of makes me wonder if we're silently promoting this even though it frustrates us. Trust me, I've had my experiences when I pretty much gave players freedom to do what they wanted while I prepared a big update and I got cricket chirps. I know the feeling all too well.
  14. The element of surprise is the greatest asset in a battle. If you can figure out what you're opponent's next move is, but they can't figure out what yours is, victory for you is almost assured. I agree with most of your points on this, but there is one thing that hasn't been covered. I would consider 2-3 reserve Pokemon that can be switched out. This is also the reason why I said to start small. Maybe Reborn's old system has finally gone outdated and a newer system needs to be in place due to the huge amount of Gen VI changes.
  15. Pssst...If you type reserve into the search bar, you can find it easily. Took me 3 seconds.
  16. I pretty much never really got into competitive battling which is why I never really participated in the Reborn League. I'll probably pass on this one as well as I do tend to get busy and for all that other stuff I'm in already eats away much of my time. I will say this seems to be very well thought out and in order. Can't really say much about it, but I do hope you deliver. As for the length of time, always start small. It's easier to extend a period something lasts then it is to cut something short. If something goes wrong and needs fixed, you can end on a high note and come back bigger and better later then.
  17. What's with all these cats recently. Why no love for dogs?

Dogs are cute, but I break out in rashes wherever they drool on me. So I only like dogs when they are a safe distance away.

    3. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

I'm actually allergic to them... but having had a dog in my home since I was a small child... it actualyl doesn;t effect me anymore other than making me a bit sniffly at times lol. Cats I'm still allergic to though... not crazy amounts ((used to puff up like a balloon if they scratched me or clawed me at all, but don;t anymore.))

I'm actually a bird person myself.

  18. Hmm...I still have mixed feelings about all of this. I'm more weary about leader fighting styles. I kind of hope that leaders fight similar to Reborn in which that have different strategies and not just a simple use the best possible team. I've seen some old Reborn League battles and how some fight really impressed me. I also wonder how the leader thing works. Here's my questions: 1. Do the leaders have personalities and signature fighting styles or did you merely look for trainers skilled in monotypes? 2. Have you filled all the positions yet or are you still looking? 3. Are you going to use a tier system in which certain leaders can't be faced until a certain quota of badges has been reached? 4. How long have you guys been working on this? (I just kind of want to know). Edit: I knew I was forgetting one. Do leaders have their own sprites?
  19. So what've you all been up to. Obviously since my leave, I've been hanging out a little bit too much in the Fan-game section. Kind of love it how I can set my own hours for the Mod and the fan-game project I'm on so don't worry too much about me falling behind (this is also a slow semester). I got a bit of time, but I'll probably won't be as active as I was in the original run.
  20. Yeah...I know I buffed Cain a little too much there, but I swear that the Sigmund fight later will more than make up for it. Good luck on Serra, but think you should be mostly fine on her since your special based. Just watch out for a certain Pokemon who hits like a truck (well...all of Serra's Pokemon hit like trucks). God I had a ragefest against her. Not even Aya frustrated me as much.
  21. Well it depends on what perspective I put you in. It'll kind of be something where you don't stay on one side (so you could be bandits in one and mercenaries in the next). I know the first one is going to be a modified version of a battle I had plan early on in the old rp. And I closed the poll because it seems that unless I have 12 people appear out of nowhere and haven't spoken, I can work with option one. I'll work on all the details for the interest check later on tonight. There's a couple issues I need to work out, but I think I can make this work.
  22. Kind of glad this got brought up. For option 1, character creation can be a bit more open but there are things that need to be avoided. Rerolls are meant to be short, but since option 1 are designed be on longer periods of time so I might give more freedom on that as I control the enemy side. I might just put a restriction list as not being able to pick a Paladin in a sky map type of battle (to keep things in balance). I merely said that more for option 2. There is a degree of freedom I can allow as long as the character apps follow the setting of the reroll (which is kind of similar to just a chapter). Option 2 is where I'm a bit more strict. These battles are designed to be shorter and to make sure nobody gets too deeply invested in a character. Basically, the only 3 things that have to be forced are the class with general stats, weapons and armor, and a bit of backstory behind the group (Bandits, the Queen's Men, Conquerors, etc). There's more freedom here as things you couldn't do in option 1, like burning down a village is fair game here. I will not give anyone a pre-made backstory or personality in this option as that'd ruin half the fun. There are just certain things I set to keep this fair game and to keep this from getting out of hand (which is generally why I'd play more of a moderator than a participant).
  23. (makes note to give El a Mega Bird Jesus for Hardcore) Now just imagine what he would say before summoning that majestic bird.
  24. This is just a little update to know what is going on. I would love to show you guys something, but right now we only have fragments of things to show off. At some point maybe we'll throw a tease, but even my main department, story, is still being worked on. You'll be happy to know that I finally have an overall general sketch of what the entire thing will look like minus a few little holes I'm working to fill. Now I just need to fill in all the tiny stuff. We've also now pushed into the development of episode 1 so that people can start working at their own pace instead of waiting for me and allow me more time to work on revisions and such. There's also a small little announcement I wanted to make: Trevo has been promoted to basically taking everything I and the group creates and putting it into a format we can use aka dialogue. We're actually taking this with more of a story based approach (which might surprise some of you) while trying to keep the game challenging and fun. Lots of interesting things have been popping up so even if you thoroughly read everything in the docs, on this page, and everything I created in the drafts, I still probably could surprise you. Anyways, I just wanted to say we're still alive, and still working on the game. Only thing we still are looking for are spriters if someone wants to take a shot at in that category as it's only Aqua and I at the moment.
  25. I'm just going to use Citrine logic here: Graveler is a magical and evil demon sorcerer who picks up rocks and brings them to life with his almighty wizardry. The geodudes are violent and enjoy being thrown at people to see them in pain.
