IC thread is Here.

Setting

Spoiler

In this world, there exist people with the power to bring their Imaginations to Life, to create Companions, Tools, and Weapons, from the Fabric of their very Willpower, to extract energy from their own minds, to access a World wholly their own.  This power's origin is unknown, all but it's name has been lost to time.  Though we know it as an ordinary word, to those with the power, this manifestation of willpower and intent is known as a Figment.

In this world, there are those who use the power of Figments for good or evil.  Though the most powerful among these groups uses it for both.  The West Amberacre Secret Police is the sole organization who is devoted to the Control and Usage of Figments in upholding the law.  Their names scratched from all records, their homes forfeit, these soldiers of law and order utilize the power of Figments to further their own ends.

In this world, the existence of Figments is something of an open secret, an obscure rumor that people simply cannot bring themselves to quite believe, a hoax that has gone on a bit too long.  Perhaps this is caused by the very nature of Figments themselves, or perhaps it is a fact of life that Seeing is Believing.  If you decide to disregard the cause or pursue it, the masses without figments will always hold skepticism towards their existence, and most people simply do not know of them at all.

In this world, the year is 2008, and the lay of the land looks very different.  Though states and countries remain the same as the ones you know, Cities and Towns have been warped beyond recognition.  This is not the place you know, not exactly.  Keep this simple fact in mind as you navigate this world, and hold a flame of curiosity towards other places.  The world is your oyster, and this one can be as well.

Plot

Spoiler

Players take the role of ordinary people, given extraordinary powers.  Initially, you will not have any powers at all, and must first find one another at the behest of a mysterious benefactor, in order to activate the odd objects he has forced upon you.

Players will find themselves occasionally assailed by Figments and their users from time to time, but this is far and between the times when they must use their wits and talents to progress through a world where crime is on the rise, and they will find themselves in very mundane conflicts against law and crime.

Lastly, Players will find themselves at the heart of a conspiracy.  The Characters themselves will learn this as well, in time.

Guidelines

Spoiler

I expect players and characters to get along, any complaints can be directed to the complaints channel in discord, or the Arguments one, if need be.

I am ideally going to be updating this at least once per day.  If you disagree with this, please say so when joining, so that any scheduling issues can be resolved.  In addition, if you are unable to post, and inform me of such beforehand, that would be ideal for maintaining game flow.  If you explain afterwards, I will have no problems with that, either.

Unless you qualify for the above, I expect everyone to post before I update. Even if you don't have a reason to post, or are simply affirming something you were already doing. This is NOT optional, and you get 9 strikes for not posting under the justification of not having a reason to.

System

Spoiler

All conflicts in this game are resolved with a series of 2d20 Checks, with the first result being your own roll, and the second result being your opposition, whatever it may be.

Your remaining health and vision are added to your checks where physical and mental trials are concerned, however, only ones directly pertaining to Mundane feats of Strength and Thinking are applicable for this bonus.

If you have gained skill in something, or have pertinent knowledge, this does not influence your roll, but rather, the results of it.  Someone with high strength fails a strength check differently than someone with low strength, and being skilled in something can mean the difference between failing to lift something, and lifting it, but doing so poorly.

Examples of some Rolls.

The user attempts to craft something from metal.  They roll a 5 (Poor) and the Metal also rolls, in which case they roll a 10 (Mediocre)

This means that the user did poorly, but the work was also not very difficult.

The user attempts an attack. They roll a 19 (Nearly Perfect) and the enemy rolls a 5 (Poor)

This means the User made a nearly perfect attack, and the enemy failed to properly react to it.

The user tries to beat someone in an eating contest.  They roll a 1 (The worst) and the enemy also rolls a 1 (The Worst) Whether they won or lost, both of them did horribly.

The user tries to solve a puzzle. They roll a 20 (Perfect) and the puzzle rolls a 20 (Perfect).  The Puzzle was phenomenally difficult, but using 100% of their brain, the User was also phenomenally good at it.

System 2 (Timeslots)

Spoiler

Days will be split into 5 Sections, and Nights will be split into 4, this denotes the amount of mundane actions that should be taken in a day, based on the Character's Daily Schedule. Use your best reasoning in scheduling of this nature.

Timeslot 1: 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM

Timeslot 2: 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Timeslot 3: 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Timeslot 4: 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM

Timeslot 5: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Timeslot 6 (Night): 9:00 PM to 11:30 PM

Timeslot 7 (Night): 11:30 PM to 2:00 AM

Timeslot 8 (Morning): 2:00 AM to 5:30 AM

Timeslot 9 (Morning): 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM

System 3 (Figments)

Spoiler

Spoiler

Figments are objects made from the substance of the mind, as such, Users are only able to have as many as their willpower allows.

Figments have 3 main stats, Force, Will, and Cleverness.

Force is the Figment's inherent ability to use Energy, the more Force a Figment has, the more energy it can expend for more powerful effects, Figments with a lot of Force can make use of a Lot of energy.

Will is how durable a Figment is, if a Figment needs to be Strong in and of itself, it will need a lot of will, and the more will a figment has, the harder it is to break.

Cleverness is how Clever a Figment is, either because it is a useful tool, or an intelligent being.  The more clever something is, the more able it is to do intriguing things.

Allocating Vision when creating a figment determines how much of each it can have.  A figment that takes up 3 Vision can have 3 Points to allocate between these stats, and so on.

When a Figment is used, It will succeed or fail, depending on what you attempt to use it for.  Unless the circumstances change, a figment that has failed at a task will not succeed at it with repeated attempts.  You are usually unable to know if a figment is capable of something or not until you try, and some actions may have multiple stats that have to succeed.

A Figment's Class is a VERY short explanation of what it is, one to three words, usually.  Examples include "Ranged Weapon" "Humanoid Helper" "Autonomous Turret" and the like.

A Figment's Description is a more in-depth explanation of what it is, and what it can do.

Because I was faced with the ever important question of "Why not both?" And I couldn't think of a good enough answer for not.

True/False Name: James Franklin
False/True Name: Keanu Reese
Offline/Online Handle: XD
Age: 29
Sex/Gender: Male

Personality: James Franklin is a kind yet calculating person, who has a marked tendency to not exert any more effort in something than he deems to be absolutely necessary, and so far the only thing that he has deemed to be absolutely unnecessary would be blind hatred, as he doesn't feel that the idea of someone hating another person due to their race, or creed and nothing else is a bit pointless. The man mainly spends his time by pursuing the one passion he has had in the entirety of his life...the spread of his terrifying politics, or as the man himself would put it "the furthering of anarcho-syndicalist views, chiefly by using his considerable skill as a cyberwarfare specialist to manipulate the media to show or otherwise contain pro worker's revolution/revolutionary worker's union/regular labour union memes in the form of videos, quotes, lines, and images, while also doing his best to point out holes in the concept of a social hierarchy".
The rest of his time is split between performing charity work to try and ease the load on the common man, and de-stressing by curling up with a good and ridiculous book about 'magical' rituals.
To put it simply James tries his best to follow his conscience and do what he thinks and feels is right.
Passion: Politics
Hobby: Hacking, Occultism

Aspects: (Three subjects you feel are valid for your character.  One primary, and up to two secondary aspects.  Any amount of tertiary aspects, but they must pertain to specific source material, and must be something that your character vigorously partakes in.)
-Politics (Primary)
-Hacking (Secondary)
-Occultism (Secondary)
-Anarcho-Syndicalism (Tertiary)
-Virus Creation (Tertiary)

Stats:

Level: 1 (This will be 1 for now.)

Health: 30/30 (For each Physical Aspect you take part in which is not a tertiary, add 10 to this.)
Vision: 12/12 (This can't be increased until later on.  With that said, for each Tertiary Aspect you take part in, add 1 to this.)
Energy: 0/0 (Nothing increases this for now.)

As the character would say quite often..."Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!".
