AndrewErblak Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Although now removed in the latest ep there was a small boy near the train in the middle of the Spinal Town that when ever you talked to him would simply say: "I like trains." This could had been a reference to the ASDF movies where a characters only says those exact words. SO now I'm wondering, any other references that you've come across in the game so far? Quote
CURIE Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) Well, the game corner has a couple: The way the NPCs there describe the multiplayer games makes it sound strikingly like Leauge of Legends There's a girl there who talks about this cool fangame called "Pokemon Reborn" And the fact that the Lottery woman is another color than the others, that color happening to be white, and her name HAPPENING to be Rarity, I'm not sure that's just a coincidence. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but when Cain randomly starts singing, the lyrics are actually from openings of the Pokemon Anime. Or at least, some of them are, because I definitely recognized them. Also, in a couple encounters with Team Meteor (all of them optional), they have this motto that you know would've never been written if it wasn't for Team Rocket's role in the Anime. I can personally confirm this as I partially work with the game as well at times. owo Quote

Slicster Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Attack on Titan near the Grand Stairway The Last Airbender, also frick with me heart strings, Charolette's Gym Quote
krim Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 There's a fisherman on Apophyll Beach who only uses grimer. He says "One Grime to Rule Them All" when you battle him, referencing one of the names for the One Ring in Lord of the Rings. Quote
wallacethepig Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) How about the whole TPP cult in 7th street? That was fun. Oh, and though I haven't seen it in the game, check the Rainbow Field Effects for some good laffs. Edited September 24, 2014 by wallacethepig Quote
Amber132 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I remember one: the Gandalf Team Meteor Grunt. The one who says "You shall not pass!" Quote
Flynn Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 The text with Samson when he both hits the bell and during the gym battle of "over 9,000". Quote
TurboAura Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Well, first off there's the 'Lord Goomy' clown, the obvious 'everything changed when the Magma Gang attacked' joke, Radomus makes enough references that need not be named, 'Rare Candies' being made into 'hard to get, non-sellable, growth skipping' drugs, and The 'evil cult' joke in El. Etesian Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 No mention of the Helix Order? I'm disappointed. Quote
CURIE Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 The text with Samson when he both hits the bell and during the gym battle of "over 9,000". You can also make it happen yourself, and if you do you get a TM as a prize. Quote

AndrewErblak Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 If you have a power level of over 9000 you get the TM Swagger, I did facepalm badly when I saw it. Quote
Etesian Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 :/ Why can't we quote people's quoting? Man, I shouldn't be posting at 3 AM. Quote
Administrators Amethyst Posted September 25, 2014 Administrators Posted September 25, 2014 If you have a power level of over 9000 you get the TM Swagger, I did facepalm badly when I saw it. Further, since I doubt most people will notice, one of the lines when you get TM87 is a reference to Shofu's rap song of the same name. Quote
Magus Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 There are countless LoL references, just hit the game corner up and people will be talking about how "the servers are offline" and "I was about to by a new champion" ect. Quote
WanderoftheColossus Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Also in the grand pokemon center where you start out a woman sitting there will recite different lyrics with each episode, except for this last one, the lyrics are the same which are from D City Rock from Panty and Stocking, others that i can remember off the top of my head are Lykke Li lyrics (which made me outrageously happy because I love Lykke Li) and others. Revman Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I found two awesome references: First one: Borderlands Outside the Appophyl Academy grounds where you first meet Kiki, there's a girl called "Battle girl Tina" who directly references the character "Tiny Tina" from Borderlands. Second one: Avatar the last airbender In Charlotte's gym there is a character called "Elder Iroh" who references the song Iroh sings in Avatar "Brave soldier boy" (I think that's the name anyway, the one Iroh sings whilst mourning his Son) Quote

Red'sCharizard Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 In the Grand Hall (or whatever the main building in the Opal Ward is called), there's a Youngster who uses Squirtle, Wartortle and 2 Blastoise, all shiny. The shiny forms all look like TMNT, and the Youngster himself says "Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles!" Quote
mashonem Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 The one that stood out to me was Cain singing My Best Friend Quote
Foamy Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) When the player first encounters Terra, she swings her hammer and yells " !!!!!!", a reference to Skullgirls character Cerebella. Edited September 29, 2014 by Foamy Quote
Antares Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Nobody noticed when Charlotte told Cain "you're just an average Disney princess aren't you?" Dude has a passion for the music and singing in an extremely high pitch I guess. Quote
