Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]

"Good work, Poochy!" Emmanuel patted Poochy and retrieved the Aether Ball. He sent it out and greeted the new companion. "Welcome abroad! Let's give you a name... They call you Oddish. Well, I'll call you Nicaea," he squat down and said to the Oddish. She, not really knowing any names in the human language, didn't object. Emmanuel turned to the newly-detected wall of crystals blocking their way. He took a look at Nicaea's learned moves, and an idea struck him. "Alright, Nicaea, blast the wall with Acid repeatedly! Solosis, use Rollout on the wall, too!" Action: Nicaea uses Acid on the wall / Solosis uses Rollout on the wall. -
Halley stumbled backwards. "Hey, back off!" Action: Blaster - Sparkling Suppressor on [SYN]/2 = 3 enemies: DT Beasts, Lahmu A, Lahmu B, for [SYN] = 6 (+ 1d4 damage for every DEX advantage Halley has over her targets). Disables Basic Attack and Basic Defense for one turn. Two-turn cooldown. Active Cooldowns: Blaster - Paralyzer (Two turns left)

Oddish's Growth was somewhat worrying, so Emmanuel decided to attempt to capture it before it can wreak havoc. Action: Throw an Aether Ball at Oddish 2. -

Poochy ran before Emmanuel, seemingly eager to fight. He nodded, readying an Aether Ball. "Radovan, we could use a bit of help from an Oddish." "Poochy, use Tackle on the Oddish on the left!" He shouted. Poochy barked in response, and flung herself at Oddish 1 with all of her meager might! Action: Poochy uses Tackle on Oddish 1 with 70 Attack Power. -

Supernova Whatever that was, it sent Tai flying through the arena, with a side of a pain that he was all too familiar with. The inertia carried him all the way to the edge of the arena, with his face kissing the ground along the way. His legs fell off like flimsy sticks after the impact, rolling about just as pathetically as he was. ... And that's that. If anything, he was still working with a quarter of a body and its power. A painful laugh accompanied the realization. He wasn't sure if there was anything to learn from this, and if any of it would help at all other than repeating the message. He pulled a few strings and adjusted his view to face Gryffin again, and then, as if out of subconscious, he began to crawl. -

Supernova Tai cracked a smile. After all the ordeals, something was finally going his way. He clenched his fists tight, with his eyes flaring with the fighting spirit that he had with him. With a sudden burst of speed, Tai vanished from the rear of the icy meteorite in the middle of the heavy hailstorm, and quickly reappeared behind Gryffin! He unleashed a flurry of sizzling-hot punches at his frozen wings, aimed upwards to meet the chunk of ice he had thrown in a pincer attack! 6 point Speed bonus - Teleport once per fight [Used] -

Supernova The blizzard did not halt, which was somehow amusing to Tai. His opponent seemed to be trying to corner him with ice of all things, after all. He activated his fire shield, enveloping himself in a veil of flames stemming from his accumulated heat. All that was left was to give the prince his kind regards. He slugged the flying chunk of ice back at Gryffin with a powerful right hook and followed its trajectory at full speed, rapidly approaching him. He held his breath and anticipated a counterattack. -
Halley stretched after sitting around plainly waiting for the next wave. She was all pepped up again for more, preferably sensible slaughter. Her blaster's aim lined up with an officer's head. Action: Blaster - Paralyzer on Officer B, applying a status effect that lowers their STR, RES, and DEX by [SYN]/2 = 3 for three turns. [DEX]*2 = 14% chance to move first (Lightspeed Justice Delivery). [Two-turn cooldown]

"... This isn't working," Emmanuel had Solosis end the Rollout early by rolling against the water again. He picked her up shortly after, "maybe we'll call Cathode to help us out with this wall later, but for now, we have a mission. Let's head down the corridor." He shrugged as he headed down corridor 9. -

Supernova VS Gryffin Tai wasn't exactly in the mood for opening chitchats anymore, so he was somewhat glad that Ice Gryffin had taken the initiative. He kicked up the engines and accelerated vertically, evading the icicles' assault. As per routine, he strafed around the arena at high speed, building up heat as he took his time to observe Ice Gryffin and his icicles. The Gods were held in high regards in regards to combat; even with the God he was facing being the same little prince from the icy palace, he knew to be more careful. -

Solosis readied herself in Emmanuel's arms as he lobbed her at the wall for a mighty Rollout! Action: Solosis uses Rollout on the Crystal Wall in a succession, attempting to bring down the wall. -

"These crystals are evidently quite durable. I don't think that we're able to break the wall. That is, unless we get Cathode and Suzie here to give us a hand." Emmanuel frowned as he knocked the crystal walls gently with his hand. Suddenly, an idea hit him. "-Actually, Solosis might be able to deal meaningful damage to it. It'll take a bit of time for the Rollout to build up, but it might just do the trick. What do you think?" -

"Good work, Radovan!" Emmanuel cheered. "That turned out to be a dead end, though. Let's go south then, shall we?" He picked up Solosis and walked south down Corridor 9. He had a good feeling about the path ahead. There seemed to be the faint outline of a small room on the map, after all. -

Emmanuel suppressed Solosis' offensive a bit more by having her pull more punches. It seemed like Radovan's attempt at capturing the Woobat would have a decent chance to succeed, so he wasn't really worried. Action: Solosis uses Psywave (Guaranteed 5~15 damage) on Woobat 2. -
"By that, I don't mean intentionally blowing up hostages, but rather not putting extra effort to rescue them or filtering them out from shuttles without hostages during an engagement. Once the pirates are defeated, we will be in a better position to rescue hostages. Until then, moderate casualties are unavoidable and necessary for the success of the mission as a whole." "As for suicide shuttles, we have interceptor missiles that will set them off mid-flight should they prove to be heading straight at us. Speaking of that, you'll have to make yourself useful again for that." La Lune noted. While it was easy to chat while monitoring the battlefield for her, she couldn't say the same for Regi. Actually discussing with a lower officer on nearly equal grounds had soften her slightly, but she was quick to realize the fact and attempted to push the Vanian back to duty, instead of him trying to be a tactical adviser out of nowhere.

Emmanuel nodded. A quick estimate showed to him that the second Rollout would knock the second Woobat out, so he decided to use the momentum to give Solosis a water landing, allowing her to soak in the sparkling water. Action: Solosis uses Rollout to dive into the sparkling water. -
"Were they to use hostages as bargaining chips, they would've come along with the pirate's ship first, rather than later. Negotiating with hostages would be done before actually engaging, no? Sending shuttles with hostages as reinforcements would at best make it seem like they have the numerical advantage, which, at that point, they might as well as just use the real deal by attaching a few cannon modules," La Lune responded again. It felt strange that a Petty Officer was actively discussing with her, and she, for some reasons, decided to take her time to respond. "You should also realize that if there are hostage shuttles, they're most likely going to be either unmanned and set on a course for collision, or manned and hostile. Should we put our energy to preserving these hostage shuttles, we would be severely handicapped with our firepower held back - exactly what the pirates would want." "Let's say if there are hostages. The best course of action would still be knocking out their ship. The flagship and the captain of a band of pirates are what hold the band of pirates together. Its front shield displays that it is at least trying to preserve itself, so we can tell that it's not merely fodder. They'd need the ship to carry the haul, too. Once the pirates start to disperse, we can then attempt to reel the hostage shuttles into the hangar safely." "The flak may shoot down hostile shuttles, which may very well have hostages in them. However, at the same time, the flak also provides covering fire for our pilots, who risk their lives in the front. You may hold the lives of the possible hostages above the pilots', but I don't, and they probably don't, as well, seeing how they aren't greenhorns." "Anything else?"

"No problem, Radovan! Poochy, sit out of this one, alright?" Emmanuel turned to Poochy, who promptly ran behind him. Solosis popped out of his lab coat, as he grabbed her tightly and lobbed her at the Woobat attacked by Larvitar. "Rollout!" Action: Solosis uses Rollout on Woobat 1 (Attack Power: 40, 90% Accuracy). -
"Shuttles?" La Lune took a look at the scan. "Figures. About as much as a pirate could muster. Still well within prediction," she said to herself. She then replied "Glad to see you being useful, though it's nothing beyond our abilities." Truth was, it didn't matter much to the captain's strategy. There was no reason not to take the first strike, as whatever counterattack the pirate's forces could muster wouldn't strike swiftly enough in order to perform an effective ambush. The alternative was to wait and see, which, would just present the initiative to the attackers. Of course, she omitted all that in her message. Might as well as to boost the lil' Vanian's confidence somewhat, right? Hopefully, the pilots did not need her to teach them how to do their jobs.
-
And there it is. "Eclipse EMP Blasters, fire at the enemy ship's front! Pilots and all other units, fire at will! We'll smash this damned joke of a pirate! And, of course, feel free to verbally assault your enemies." La Lune made another broadcast, rallying the crew into combat. Then, she stood up from her seat and quickly left for the hull by taking the elevator down. Captain's Rally (12): You may attempt to increase every crew member on board's morale, increasing PCs' damage and improving NPCs' efficiency, by making a [Charisma Bonus] + [Knowledge] check. Difficulty and effectiveness decided by the GM.

"Sounds like a fair idea," Emmanuel nodded and lead the way southwest.
