  1. I think a lot of really good things have been said here about formulaic game-play and branching out. You said you were having a hard time thinking of something besides an evil team pushing the plot forward. Just some examples, you could have a deity/god-figure/just really big strong thing causing problems, but people don't know that's what's doing it at first. Or maybe something is wrong on a global scale, one of those "the earth is dying" kinda games. Or maybe pokemon are dying out and everyone is scrambling to try and fix it. (SPDS = Sudden Pokemon Death Syndrom (That would be a sad game...)). Or you could have an evil country rather than and evil team. Or a country that seems good but is secretly run by a small, evil group, pulling the strings behind the scenes. These are just some random ideas that popped into my head, and you could probably implement these while sticking with the general pokemon formula (battle 8 bosses, take on big bosses, catch 'em all) or you could implement these without doing that. I think what's important is having some sort of motivation to keep everyone moving forward. Just my take on it though. I will say this though. I think I would hug someone if they would call their evil organization something other than "Team ______ ". Good luck on the game!
  2. I thought it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the unique starters and the beginning of the game taking place in the academy. I think it definitely has some potential.
  3. Can't believe it's already July... On a positive note, Christmas is less than six months away :D

      Seriously though, it's crazy...

  4. Yeah definitely in favor a pre-made character, as long as it's done well. It's always kind of bugged me that the main characters in Pokemon games say absolutely NOTHING. I really enjoyed Legends of the Arena (LOTA) for the dialogue and quips and whatnot, it was a refreshing change from being a mute who can only occasionally say yes or no. As far as an extensive backstory goes, just don't dump the whole thing on me at once... that can be a bit much to care about. I think the gradual exposition is also something that LOTA does well. That being said a little customization (clothing and other things like that) can help someone feel attached to their character and their gaming experience.
  5. It's hot...

    1. Juniper

      Juniper

While I appreciate the compliment, "it" is not my preferred pronoun <3

  6. Mainit gid ya!

  7. Anybody have a pipe inspection camera I can borrow? Septic tank problems suck...

  8. So is there no day-night cycle at all, or is it there and you just can't adjust it?
  9. So... tired...

    1. Skeleton
    2. dead account

      dead account

Read that as "So... bird..." for some reason.

  10. So, I now have Sena following me everywhere and I can't get rid of her. Anyone have any brilliant ideas? Edit: Got it fixed. Thanks Caz!
  11. Yuss!! So stoked for this! Not going to bed after all
  12. Is there a place to buy common candies in the first city? The first gym will be a much bigger pain if I there isn't :/
  13. Finals week is over! Yes!

  14. Ah, okay. Now when I go past I'll at least know why it's there
  15. So, I've just gotta ask, why are there balloons (or something?) on the left side of the entrance to Celeste City?? What are they doing there? Are they even balloons??
  16. Finals week... ugh

  19. So that was me officially leaping into the community. I am Dante52 (I would have just put Dante, but I think that one was taken...) I actually started playing Reborn last year, but I only made a profile a few months ago, and now I figured I'd get a little bit more involved! So, a little bit about me. I like doing a lot of different things- reading, playing games (board, card, video- they're all fun), hanging out with friends, playing ukulele (not that good, but I enjoy it!), drawing, and, of course, playing pokemon. I remember the first pokemon I ever saw was a Charizard on tv at my Grandmas house. I was like 5 and after that I got sucked in. I played the games up until Firered and then I kinda fell out of it... until last year. I played HeartGold and it was fun, great to return to an improved version of a childhood joy, but it still lacked the depth that so many other games and stories have... and then a stray article on the internet one day caught my eye, it was named "You haven't played these Pokemon games, but you should". I was intrigued and went through the list. I was surprised and excited by descriptions of Pokemon games with serious plots! I chose one to try out first, to be my taste-test, and I choose Reborn. I think I chose really well. Since then I have played Rejuvenation, Zeta, Insurgence, Fusion Generation, Legends of the Arena and Desolation. It's been great I am really impressed by (and jealous of) the creativity and dedication all you game creators have to build these fan-games. It's awesome. I really love creativity and love thinking up ideas for stories, but I get discouraged by how long it would take/how difficult it would be to write it down or build a game :/ So that's why I admire all you persistent people! Keep up the awesomeness! See you guys around the forums!
  20. Well Insurgence already did the "logical use of pokemon moves" as well. In that game you CAN use moves outside of battle to bust up rocks and move boulders, plus there are items for the HM's. I agree with you though, the HM items was something that I loved about Zeta, not having to use an HM slave was so refreshing. (Plus using a machete to hack through those annoying trees just felt great)
  21. So many games... so little time...

  22. Just some notes on the Wheel of Time review under Fantasy... There are a couple words missing in the second sentence, probably "defeat the"... "Aes Sedia" should be "Aes Sedai", "forsaken" should be capitalized, and so should the second "dark one"... Sorry to be annoying! I think this is a fun idea! Thanks for doing this!
  23. Hey! I honestly don't know if this is the right place to do this (don't spend much time on the forums and whatnot), but I just finished the second episode, and I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this game so far. I thought the credit system was pretty fun and done well, I thought the "paint" item was a great idea, I like the individualized "rep" with people (very Fire Emblem). Pokemon events, side quests, and puzzles were all good too. I thought there was an impressive amount of content for two episodes. Oh, I really like the two starters! (My Krookodile and Delphox destroy, when they choose to obey me ) There were a few plot moments that I thought were a little weak/forced, but I don't know how to do the spoiler hiding thing, so I won't mention them specifically... All in all, thought it was great, love the multiple endings, (anyone play Chrono Trigger?) and I'm looking forward to episode 3! Keep it up!
  24. I started on West Godra, and there is a eevee you can get there, just by the way. The game was pretty fun, big world, really enjoyed all the different possible starters, but it's still pretty buggy. I would strongly recommend creating a back-up of your save file, just in case a bug gets you, like me. (I can't get out of Mega Tower) So overall pretty fun, but buggy, and yeah kinda directionless sometimes...
