  1. In terms of the beta, all ex ace members will be entitled to participate, but we're also planning on inviting some other members who have been consistently active and helpful with game related questions and problems, so it should be easier to get into the group now than it was for E17.
  2. Hi there Amphibi! Welcome to Reborn! First off, I'm not entirely sure of the answer to your question about cover photos, as I've never got around to using that feature myself and therefore don't know how big the image is supposed to be. If you're interested in RWBY and stuff like that, we have an anime subforum where I'm sure you'll be able to find some people to discuss your passion with. Similarly if you want to talk about competitive pokemon battles, the victory road subforum is the place for you. While you're here, it would be great if you could quickly check out the Community Rules so we don't have any problems. If you have any questions about any of them or the website, feel free to ask as I'm always happy to help. Enjoy your stay!
  3. Charmander is definitely the best in the early game because of dragon rage. Due to its fixed damage, you'll be able to knock out pretty much everything in the first part of the game with that move alone. Then it has some nice STAB moves to destroy Flobot with.
  4. Unfortunately we don't really have a complete guide for the game in that level of detail. Sparsyle's guide is the best thing we've got in terms of detail, although Chubb's discontinued guide is a more updated version for the very early part of the game. After Sparsyle's guide finishes, Despair Syndrome got it mostly up to date in a much less detailed guide (look here) but even that isn't as detailed. Alternatively, there are quite a few playthroughs on Youtube, so you might be able to find a guide there if you look around a bit.
  5. I'm going to have to be super basic and go with dragons. They're just consistently cool when in books/ games/ movies and they have a lot more variety than lots of other creatures. Also moved this to general discussion, as the quality of conversation has been of a high enough quality to justify it being out of the wasteland.
  6. Welcome to Reborn Sheen! While I'm personally not someone who plays League of Legends or the Sims, there are plenty of people here who are fans (particularly of the former) so I'm sure you'll be able to find some people to discuss that with. Also, good luck on your quest to find the funds for USUM! While your here, it would be great if you could quickly check out the Community Rules that'd be great, as they should give a general guideline on how best to integrate into the forum. If you have any questions regarding the website feel free to shoot me a message and I'll do my best to get you what you need. Enjoy your time here!
  7. I've always stuck by Kiki being the hardest gym leader for me. Realistically, it isn't because she's actually that tough, but my first time playing through the game my team was really awful at that point and I was using an unpheasant with air slash to try to beat her. However, due to the field, every time unpheasant used that move its accuracy was lowered. Rather than being sensible and training a new pokemon, I persisted with the same strategy, meaning it took me about 60 battles to beat her. Easiest for me was probably Terra. I just had stuff that could beat all of her pokemon and I ended up not losing anything to her, which was a nice change given how awful I am at the game.
  8. I've quoted the stuff I'm going to respond to here. I've only been an auth member for just under two years, so obviously can't say what happened before that, but even in my time I certainly don't think we were always opposed to it. At least to me, the shift in opinion on it is mostly to do with the way it was delivered. It used to be more if someone asked a question on when E16 was coming out, someone would give them an answer, and then maybe put the joke in at the end with a or something like that, then everyone would move on. Now people's sole response is jumping in with the "thanks for delaying it by a month" thing, which others immediately join in on, meaning that we can get five or six responses of people saying effectively the same thing with no-one actually giving the relevant information. So you're absolutely right in saying that we (or at least I) are not labeling anyone who has ever made the joke as being responsible for creating a negative community, as when it was done in the right way it was entirely harmless. However, the way it is expressed currently has become somewhat toxic and therefore unacceptable, and while I probably won't hand out warning points for it, if the negative trend continues we'll have to discuss options at a meeting and come up with a more substantial response, which is something I'd prefer to avoid. In terms of the second thing, I'm not sure if this point is directed towards the community as a whole or the auth team. If its the former, I mostly agree although I'd probably change "ignore it" to bring any major examples of toxic activity to the auth team (pretty similar in principle though). However if this is intended for us (if it isn't just ignore everything from here on), I've got to disagree on this one. A large part of our job is ensuring that the community is safe and enjoyable for everyone, and by ignoring aggression we're not really doing our jobs properly. While we can't convert people entirely, we can and should set standards of behavior when on our forums, and if they refuse to act appropriately then we can at least stop them from taking things out on others via disciplinary measures.
  9. Its really variable for me to be honest. A lot of the time, I'll listen to something else while playing, but if the music of a game is really good it can add a lot as it holds attention. In terms of making a fangame, if you're a newer developer I wouldn't prioritise it at all, as unless if you're already into that kind of thing, the skills you learn there are rather specific and don't really translate into the other aspects of your game. Getting good at mapping, writing and making interesting and balanced battles are much more important to me, as they're the things everyone experiences and directly contribute to how they go through the game. Essentials music isn't great, but it isn't a deal breaker, whereas if your maps are terrible and your plot is bland people aren't going to want to play your game. That being said, if music is something that interests you, then do it. There's no point in not giving something a go if you think you might be passionate about it. That being said, if your aim is to develop the skills that will be most valuable to your game in the short-term I would put music lower on the list of priorities.
  10. This is a fair call, and definitely something I see as a good idea for next episode. It wasn't really something that was considered for this episode as the initial planned timing for the testing was a lot shorter than it ended up being. Obviously we don't want to spoil anything major, but a bit of new stuff wouldn't be too big a deal. I'd be down for showing off a few animations or something if the beta takes much longer. Thanks for the maturity in this feedback though! It was very insightful! No-one is denying that it would be better if people searched for stuff. The issue here is how people respond when people decide to ask rather than researching. Nothing constructive comes from people venting their frustration at people who do this or just make a joke out of their query. If you're aware of youtube videos on a subject, you can leave the people a link, which is a really helpful thing for them, and makes the community more positive as a whole. People asking questions is a huge part of the point of our game related subforums. If you'd rather not give them the links, you're not obliged to, but the option if your not prepared to be productive we'd prefer you not to post anything at all. By the way, this response isn't accusing you specifically of targeting people. I haven't come across you being unpleasant at any point, the response was more about the principle of how to respond to frustrating questions.
  11. @PinkOmega Unfortunately none of us on the dev team know when the episode is going to be out, although it shouldn't be too much longer (we're still in the beta test at the moment, but that's the last phase before the community release which is when you'll be able to access it). You might be able to get updates on the development blog, although admittedly the progress bar serves literally no purpose at this point. But try to be patient, you'll get it pretty soon!
  12. Honestly bless you for this announcement Ame. I've been feeling the need to express something like this for quite a while, and you did so far more eloquently than I would have. Anyway, in reference to the "I do it in a joking manner" thing that's popped up a couple of times in this thread, while this may be case in regards to your intent and members of the community might understand that, to the new member all it does is make them feel like they're doing something wrong. Someone whose never been on the forums before has no real way of knowing that "it gets delayed every time you ask" is a running joke, and even if they do, having 10 people make the same joke about how new and inexperienced you are is never a good feeling. And honestly, laughter by taking cheap shots at new people for not knowing about how our forums work really isn't a great look for the community, and the fact that someone doesn't understand things now or they don't integrate straight away doesn't mean they never will. For example, my first post on the forum was in bug reporting when it should have been in troubleshooting, and was asking for help regarding an issue that had been answered many times. I got a friendly and helpful answer to my question which was a really fantastic first impression and encouraged me to stay. If seven people had jumped on me (even if it was jokingly) for the basic mistakes I made I can promise you I never would have seen this as a place where I could find a group of friends, and Reborn would have stayed as that place with the cool fangame rather than as a community that has had a profound impact on me. And in the end, there isn't that much difference between my first post and a lot the ones people get down on. While bug reporting is a more isolated community, as someone whose done a lot of stuff there I can promise you that people who make posts like the first one I made can be frustrating because once you know how everything works, mistakes seem stupid. But rather than unleashing this frustration onto the person, giving them the help they need and giving some advice on how they can improve in the future is overall a better solution for everyone, and might help some people who currently only are here for episode releases join our community. So by all means, point out the people who make "when is E16 coming out I want it now" threads that we don't have a specified release date yet and that they can check out the development blog for updates. That's being a helpful community member. But to do this, sarcasm and injokes aren't needed, because while they might be amusing to you, they help to contribute to a really negative culture in our community, which to me is one of the main reasons why the number of new active forum users has dropped significantly. Who knows, if we start being nicer to people we might get more people willing to introduce themselves and come out of their shells like so many of us have done before them.
  13. If you've got pokemon essentials downloaded, I think there's a default item called the EXP All which gives EXP to the whole party. I'm not sure if by a double exp share you want something that doubles EXP, as I don't think that item would do it (although you could probably change it). You can give it to the player the same way you'd give any other item (either through an item ball or as part of an event. For all of that stuff, I'd recommend checking out the pokemon essentials wiki as they've got pretty detailed information on a lot of this stuff.
  14. I'm pretty sure if you if you follow the forgot my password process (if you log out and go to sign in there should be an option) it will send you your username as well, as the only thing you need to get a new password is your email address. If that doesn't work, let me know and there are probably a few other things we can try.
  15. Happy Birthday Azery! It's a shame that my quitting the redemption league and drop in activity has resulted in us barely talking to each other anymore, but I still think you're a great guy and have been a really sound addition to the auth team! Have an amazing day!
  16. Happy Birthday Ikaru!!! While I really don't know as well as I should but I have a lot of respect for you as a leader and voice of reason in all matters! Your leadership in the auth team is always appreciated, and the community would be way worse off without you. Have a fantastic day!
  17. TFW today the results came out from our same-sex marriage plebiscite came out with an overwhelming support for legalising it, so we should finally have marriage equality in Australia by Christmas!
  18. I found it on the list of fan games on the pokemon essentials wiki when I was playing around on that in an attempt to make my own game. I downloaded it because I thought it looked kind of interesting and then made a forum account because I was really bad and constantly needed help.
  19. @Arkhi I've added that to the OP and hopefully it will be discussed at the next meeting, so if there's any more detail you want to add as to exactly what you want to happen, feel free to let me/ Ame or someone like that know.
  20. I've moved it over to the mod market as I agree it probably fits better there. Fantastic work on the texture pack by the way! It looks great.
  21. Happy Birthday Viri!!! We haven't spoken in ages due to my being almost non-existent on the server/ discord, but it was always fun having discussions with you in the past! Have an incredible day!
  22. Happy Birthday Marcello! Let's see if I can give you a whole bunch of irritating to fix bugs once the pre-alpha starts as a delayed birthday present! Have a great day!
  23. I've moved regal from the status unknown into the discontinued category as I have no intention of continuing it.
  24. There are currently eight of us working on the dev team. There's Ame who obviously is in charge of everything and does most things. Marcello is the main scripter so he writes and fixes code for the game. Jan does a bit of everything and anything. Jasper and Kanaya help out with mapping. Then Smeargletail and I work on attack animations. Inuki also does attack animations, but he does some other stuff as well. These people all work on the game itself, as the website has its own team of staff. Ame and I are the devs who are also involved with forum moderation/ administration. Anyway, in terms of the dev test for this episode, there will be 10 people involved, as our two other forum administrators (Dan and Ikaru) who have done a lot of work on the game in the past and continue to help out all the time are also involved in the pre-alpha.
