  2. They're all viable options, although less people would have played with popplio as it was only added recently, so people probably couldn't give you as much advice. Charmander makes the early game ridiculously easy because it has access to dragon rage which kills everything. Chimchar is just relatively solid throughout most of the game. Froakie might struggle early on due to typing (although its hidden ability helps in this regard) but its a pretty good team member throughout the game. So really, you can't go wrong with these choices, but they'll shine in really different areas.
  3. I have a lot of sympathy for this request as I have pretty similar browsing habits to you and therefore mostly forget to go into any clubs. That being said, it is somewhat difficult to add club functionality to the main forum index, as given that they require you to join, different things would have to show up for different people. So its possible that we could add a link to the general clubs page in a similar way to a subforum, but I doubt we could have the most recent post show up (except for possibly the most recent post in an open club). Edit: Looking back, this answer is not particularly coherently written, but hopefully it communicates the point well enough.
  4. Lin is actually a train confirmed... If you want a boring person explanation, that's currently the graphic for our in game test trainers, that are used for testing animations/ battle bugs and so on.
  5. I approve of this answer. For me, it'd probably be a tie between dedenne and azumarill, as I like small cute things based on mammals I suppose.
  6. Grinding options are pretty limited for the first gym. Make sure you've explored properly and found every trainer, as there are quite a lot of them in various places. You'll get access to rebattlable trainers in the grand hall relatively soon (or its possible they might be there now, go back to the grand hall and talk to everyone to check). If not, you'll have to deal with wild encounters for now, but grinding gets significantly easier once you make it a bit further in the story. You'll get access to a daycare within a few hours, although you do need to do a little bit of simple sidequesting to be able to use it once you get there (it will give you pretty clear direction on what this is.
  7. Congrats once again Alistair! I'm sure you'll continue to do great things in your new position as you've already shown yourself to be a worthy choice in your week of lower responsibility! Remember, you can always ask any of us if you're unsure about anything. We want you to have as comfortable a time as mod as possible. To Njab, thanks for all of your incredible service as a moderator. You've been such a consistently helpful presence in the community, and getting to see you move from member to local mod to global mod as a reward for your fantastic work was a great experience. We'll all miss you on the auth team, but I'm glad that your life will become a bit less crazy now.
  8. The warning point change will make no difference to how we deal with spammers. We flag them as a spammer and it deletes everything they've posted so this change will only affect actual members who happen to violate the rule.
  9. Okay, we've updated the associated punishments. Here's the new list. These warnings only apply when the warnings are active (i.e. once your warning point expires you'll be able to request clubs again. 1WP: The user may no longer request clubs 3WP: The user receives a week long moderator approval on forums, and a week long mute on discord 5WP: The user is unverified on discord and loses ownership of any clubs they have 7WP: The user is muted and on moderator approval until their point threshold reaches 0 10 Lifetime WP: The user is banned from the community
  10. Okay... that's really odd. I don't think there's anything we can do to fix it, but I'll chuck it in the OP and bring it up at the next meeting to double check it can't be resolved.
  11. This is actually intentional. Sometimes people only are responding to a certain part of other people's posts, and so they can remove unnecessary information. So there aren't really any problems, as we can still see what the initial person posted, so people can't forge things from others. Wait, are you saying that the thing that you attached when removed turned into a link to another post? Can you link me to some of the status updates/ posts where this is happening.
  12. Hi there! Welcome to the forums! I remember the struggles of Noibat all too well, but at least you get some reward for your suffering... While you're here, it'd be great if you could check out the community rules to avoid any problems from occurring! If anything needs clarification feel free to ask and I'd be more than happy to give you a hand. Enjoy your time here provided that reborn hasn't crushed your soul too much to enjoy anything anymore.
  13. We've already somewhat implemented this shift, but after the reborn game is finished the community isn't being destroyed, it is just getting a bit of a focus shift from pokemon to games in general. Moving the main server from showdown to discord was illustrative of this shift, as we're trying to foster a community that exists regardless of whether reborn is in active development or not. That being said, even people who are only here for games Ame develops will have something to look forward to, as her RPG Starlight will be in development once reborn is done. So while the community will probably fade at some point, it would be very unlikely to disappear when the game is done.
  14. Joined the site when I was 14 and I'm currently 16 putting me well on the younger side. The community is pretty old so it makes sense that it is more heavily skewed to people in their early/ mid twenties, especially among the active veterans. Then even after the reborn league ended, the age demographic for the game was late teens to early twenties, so those who were around for the early releases and made forum accounts would almost always be in their twenties by now.
  15. I swear to god, if you guys end up with another celebrity president the world is just going to stop taking your voters seriously. The fact that Oprah is charismatic and writes/ reads good speeches means that she can be invaluable in the campaign aspect of the process, but when push comes to shove, she has no real political knowledge or ability. Good ideals are pretty much useless if you're unable to convert them into policy. My personal picks would be either Warren or Gillibrand. They're both articulate progressives who have (particularly in Warren's case) really strong voting records and are experienced enough politicians to be able to sell their ideas to both voters and congress. That being said I feel like the DNC is more likely to nominate someone less risky like McCain or Booker, or possibly just decide that nothing matters and go with Sanders for some inexplicable reason.
  16. I really doubt it given that Ame has said she doesn't care how people play the game and there would potentially be issues with the online system. That's not to say its impossible, but it doesn't seem like reborn's style to me.
  17. Yes, you're correct that double posting is fine in this thread. This is certainly an interesting idea conceptually. While I don't think we'd get rid of the total members count as there is some value in having the whole number, it may well be able to be added next to it. I can't promise this would be doable, but it doesn't immediately seem like something impossible to me so I'll bring it up and see what can be done. I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be a thing. We already have a few different themes and we at least had a theory that some of the site bugs were caused by theme related issues (although I think we're less sure about that now than we were). I'm not saying this is never possible but I think this probably isn't the best time for it.
  18. The pokemon I've used in the most games would be azumarill, although realistically based on my presence on this website dedenne has become my signature pokemon.
  19. I went with Florinia and Cal. While a lot of the interaction with Flobot comes earlier in the game, I've always felt like it is some of the strongest in the game, and as you uncover a bit of her backstory she becomes quite sympathetic. Cal was only just my vote here, but I've always loved his redemption arc and attempts to find a way out of Blake's shadow.
  20. I somehow doubt that this is the kind of thing we could fix, except by possibly making the menu shorter so it doesn't overlap with anything else on the homepage. Otherwise, I think it would unfortunately fall into the category of stuff that we can't fix due to not having a lot of power over the inner workings of the site. I'll double check this with the admins, but I'm not hopeful. Also sorry for not responding in the Site Inquiries thread @DreamblitzX, I saw your post and was going to check whether it was fixable with those who would know better, but I entirely forgot to do so and it just slipped by.
  21. @Dypatome I'm almost certain that that unfortunately falls under the category of stuff that we can't change as we have really limited control over the inner workings of the website and generally can't change the coding itself, which this would require. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  22. Other than trying not to have too many open windows when playing, we can't do a heap about overworld lag. In battles, you could try disabling animations (you do this through the settings part of the menu) and things might speed up a bit. We've tried to cut down on lag through episode releases, but unfortunately the game still does just lag a lot in some areas as they're so large.
  23. If people need threads moved into a club, feel free to report them. That way everyone with the ability to move it gets notified and you'll get what you need done pretty quickly (please only do this for your own threads though)

oh, good idea! thanks for mentioning that!

  24. If Reborn was a main series pokemon game, released by Gamefreak, I would absolutely agree with your friend. In many ways Reborn is far more graphic and violent than any main series pokemon game, whether or not they discuss similarly dark themes (albeit more vaguely). However, the difference that your friend is missing is the fact that a game uses the same set of characters as a more child like scenario doesn't mean that it is targeted at the same group of people. All of our download pages and the website in general make it pretty clear that this is a game targeted towards teens/ adults due to its more mature themes. Additionally, even if they had missed this and just downloaded the game, the train bombing scene sets the tone immediately, without being too graphic or scarring itself (as compared to something like the Orphanage or Corey's story arc). For this reason I don't see how Reborn can be seen as immoral, as in the end pokemon themselves are just images and programmed stats and therefore nothing about them can be corrupted for that. The concern would come if the fact that we were using a franchise that has a younger audience would cause them to see things that were too confronting for their age, but I don't see that as a potential occurrence due to the reasons I outlined above. Everyone wants to experience pokemon in their own way, and your friend is perfectly entitled to not enjoy the game, as to some people pokemon is all about lighthearted fun. However, the fact that it isn't their cup of tea shouldn't automatically relegate it to a disgrace to pokemon that doesn't deserve to exist, as in the end if they don't play it it has absolutely no affect on their lives or their enjoyment of more uplifting games.
