  1. Man, I just love Roserade in draft leagues. It's so nice being able to have a different 90 BP coverage move of your choosing every battle. It's an excellent Steel-type lure.

  2. The Other Meta of the Month, Full Potential, is completely insane. I encourage you all to try it before the end of the month.

  3. Sigh, I wish Bulletproof blocked things like Fire Blast, Ice Beam, and Flash Cannon.

Eh, it's not so much localization problems as it is just general inconsistencies. Flash Cannon in Japanese is Luster Cannon, so the problem remains.

Although I do agree Beak Blast is a better name in general.

The difference in cannons might be one is firing a solid projectile while the other fires just energy.

  4. No one remembers Izana or Yukimura, RIP.
  5. While I do appreciate the buffs to older Pokemon that arrived with Sun and Moon, it does somewhat stretch the limit of which Pokemon can be salvaged by slapping Quiver Dance on there.

      Heh, Quiver Dance Wormadam.

  6. not going to lie, Specs Swellow is a lot of fun to use this generation.

  7. I'm making teams for a draft league that I signed up for, but I am rather unconfident in my own skills as a teambuilder. Would anyone be interested in critiquing some of the teams I design? I would rather not do an RMT on it because it opens up the potential for my opponent to see the team in advance due to public access. If you are interested, just shoot me a PM. If not, no sweat, you do you.

  8. Time to raise up a new Lissa to give her Renewal to Femui. I swear, this Heroes update is bonkers.

  9. so I somehow ended up with Ninian and Jaffar (idk how, but it happened). My impressions are pretty straight-forward so far. Ninian: She is like a strange mix of Corrin (F) and Azura. She has the dancing utility of azure and also buffs for her team through her weapon and another skill. Her weapon is Light Breath, which increases the Def/Res of adjacent units by +4 for their next action. Her other noteworthy skill is Fortify Defense, which becomes Fortify Dragons at the final tier. Similar to the calvary, flier, and armor versions, it grants adjacent dragon allies +6 Def/Res for their next action. This creates and interesting question of synergy, as despite their common weaknesses, it would seem like Corrin (F) would be one of her best natural partners. Corrin's debuffs partnered with Ninian's buffs could potentially result in significantly less damage coming towards you. Of course, they still get thrashed by Julia and Falchion users, so maybe Lililna or Tharja would be good there to nuke them from afar. Jaffar: He is oozing excess offense. There is no reason for him to have so much offensive pressure. To start with, his weapon, Deathly Dagger. Deathly Dagger takes the normal dagger debuff to the next level with -7 on each defensive stat, plus an additional 7 damage will be dealt if the unit initiates the attack (similar to Poison Strike from Fates). Already that makes him incredibly threatening since he can deal a reliable 7 chip damage while removing a sizeable portion of a unit's defenses. But here's where it gets to be a little too much: his skills. Life and Death 3 grants Jaffar an extra 5 Attack and Speed at the cost of the same amount of defenses. This already guarantees he will at least outspeed, and in many cases, double other units, but, as if that wasn't offensive enough, he then has Threaten Speed. Basically, he has a very high chance of outspeeding foes, doubling them, stripping away their defenses, and then dealing a set amount of damage to even the most defensive of targets. He is quite the definitive glass cannon, however, so if you can get the jump on him with a dancer+flier, or luring him out with a Hector or something, you should be fine. I do shudder to think about which units people will end up inheriting his skills over to.
  10. Fun fact, with the removal of HMs in SuMo, Cut is now Kartana's signature move. That's right, the infamously awful Cut can now be exclusively learned by an Ultra Beast with 181 base attack.

@Swampellow it is still the only Pokemon capable of learning the move in Sun and Moon, making it a signature move.

  11. Yeah, Gaiden is a very different game from every other game in the series. Later games incorporate other elements from it, like split army management (FE10) and monster fighting (FE8, FE13-14 in some ways), but it definitely shouldn't be one of the first games you play simply because it will give you a very different impression of what the series is like. Personally, I played Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (the eighth game in the series), also known as FE8) as my first game based on recommendations from folks here on Reborn as well. It is a very forgiving entry that lets you grind up your units if you need to be stronger to beat a specific chapter (and also provides a host of over-powered characters for you to use). If you are looking to just put your toes in the water to check how you fare, The Sacred Stones is a very solid option. Other good starting options are Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (the seventh overall game in the series, but the first released outside of Japan, where it was simply called "Fire Emblem") and Fire Emblem: Awakening (13th overall game, 6th outside of Japan). Blazing Blade is a straight-forward game which includes a tutorial mode that spans the first 10 Chapters of the game, so this is a helpful tool for jumping into the series. Awakening has an extraordinarily forgiving Casual Mode (which prevents the series' hallmark Permadeath feature from taking place), a built-in Guide feature, and several tutorial levels as well. It also includes opportunities for grinding your units into the most broken characters in the series. So to surmise my recommendations for your first game: Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (FE8) Fire Emblem: Blazing Blade/Fire Emblem (FE7) Fire Emblem: Awakening (FE13)

Ah, the joy that is Google trying to translate Japanese websites.

That's the Offical Nintendo Thracia 776 website, in case you're wondering.

  13. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7hackmonscup-546557079 Hackmons Cup is the true test of a player's luck skill. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7hackmonscup-546555420 Totally. Edit: I wasn't planning on adding another reply here, but this game was too good to not share. Warning: there is some Hackmons Cup Stall in this one. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7hackmonscup-546561280
  14. Playing through Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 is taking some time to get going. Not because the early chapters are particularly hard or because the version I am playing is entirely in Japanese, or even the plethora of unique features Thracia 776 employs, like Fatigue or Capturing. All of these things I steadily adjusted too. The main hurdle for me is editing the Fire Emblem Wiki to actually have the data found elsewhere on the internet because the FE5 section on the wiki is extraordinarily underdeveloped and unembellished. I can't just move on with the game until I am finished editing the wiki to have actually helpful information on the chapters. As such, I just beat Chapter 3. Whew.

  15. Try to take advantage of allied units in the Voting Gauntlet and feed any of the heroes from the Siblings Bond event the kills, as this contributes to the Siblings Bonds quests which require kills by certain characters!

  16. The Pokemon Conquest start screen always cracks me up. There's Groudon, Articuno, Zekrom, and Mewtwo, all of whom look fierce. And then there's Jigglypuff just chilling in the corner like it belongs. Like, "Yep, just another Legendary Pokemon. Nothing to see here."

  17. Also worth noting that Xenologue 1 begins with Veronica focusing on Ephraim and Erika, so that was likely an intentional reference on the behalf of the writers.
  18. tbh I have no idea how competitive this event will be. Like, just looking at the numbers so far, it looks like Lucina is just going to steamroll through. As I am typing this, the score for Lucina vs. Sharena are 944, 539, 330 (Lucina) to 446, 760, 488 (Sharena). Your eyes are not deceiving you, that is a 500 million point lead there. We'll see how this plays out, but I think Lucina will destroy everyone in her path. Feel free to post the numbers from the other sides if you have them.
  19. I'm interested in playing Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, partially to test myself and partially because I'm bored as hell, but there aren't a whole lot of viable options for doing so unless you understand Japanese (a skill I distinctly lack). Any suggestions on what I should do?

Me? Yeah I've played them, Binding Blade is meh but Genealogy is one of the best games in the franchise.

I quite liked Binding Blade due to it being among the harder games in the series, and a few standout characters such as Zephiel and Guinivere made the story quite enjoyable. Though I do agree, that games like Radiant Dawn and Blazing Sword are better.

I've gone through and beaten FE4, FE6-10, 13, and all the routes of Fates. I'm interested in Thracia because it is considered the hardest entry in the series and it seems fascinating to me. And I suppose I will just play in Japanese with a guide open. Thanks fellas.

  20. So far both Grand Hero Battles in FE Heroes have been harder than they are worth. Narcian is an Emerald Axe wielding flyer, putting him at the mercy of any of the countless Red units or Archers. And Robin-F is basically a poor-man's Julia, because while she is a decent mage, she suffers from the same unfortunate Green weapon as Narcian. And she doesn't have Julia's perk of nailing the ever common and annoying dragons for effective damage. Fingers crossed for a more helpful Grand Hero next time.

I'm still waiting for those special art version units of the top 2 voted FE heroes for each gender.

    2. Hect

      Hect

Hey, hey. Female Robin could become more useful if viable cavalry units get introduced. Just give it some time and see how things play out. Narcian on the other hand gets outclassed by Camilla, so he's really just a budget unit. Also, you can just get the two star hero from the battle and level them to three stars fairly cheap. I'm still waiting for Ike. Wonder if there's gonna be two versions of him -- One for PoR and one for RD.

  21. Hackmons Cup continues to introduce me to all sorts of disgusting combinations, like Regenerator Golisiopod. With defenses like that, it was straight up nasty.

  22. http://prnt.sc/ecoczc Hackmons Cup is the best Pokemon format in existence.

  23. Okay so I managed to beat the Robin-F Hard map, although I spent almost the whole 50 stamina doing so. I ended up using my +Def Julia who is honestly a godsend, Takumi, and Femui with dance support from Azura (Olivia works in her place since she never saw any combat). Julia went out and fired off some damage at the axe user after receiving the +attack buff from Corrin. Takumi stood adjacent, blocking the area my units come from. He is -Res, so I have to play him carefully here. Corrin stands by behind him to be able to support more next turn, Azura doing the same. Enemy phase: Axe user advances on Julia and deals a lot of damage, but she lives fairly comfortably. The mages advance and deal damage to Takumi and Julia, but the mages take the brunt of the exchange. From there, Takumi polished off Robin, Julia executed a mage, Corrin killed the Lancer, and Takumi killed the axe-man and the remaining mage with a dance from Azura. Bam. Although tbh, Robin-F probably wasn't worth the effort to get her, but hey, limited characters are limited characters, right?

  25. My first *4 I moved up to *5 (yes, past tense) was Corrin-F. I enjoy running a lot of mages and destroying teams from a far, so Corrin is an excellent asset for that. She is all about debuffing foes. After combat, she gives the person she was engaged with -7 Resistance and if she initiates comabt she gives all nearby enemy units -5 Attack and Speed for the next turn. Couple that with her being a blue unit that can at least halt the advance of the numerous reds out there and decent bulk, she seemed like the best option for me. Julia and Leo especially love to abuse the lower enemy Resistance and Speed, greatly increasing their damage and sometimes letting Leo double a foe when he otherwise would not have. Furthermore, she boosts the Attack of adjacent allies, meaning that, due to resistance debuff and the attack increase, one of my mages can potentially do +12 damage for every attack they get in. So my team atm is Takumi/Leo, Julia, Corrin-F, and Lucina, although idk if I will keep Takumi or Leo on there. Takumi is generally better for certain sticky situationz with fliers, but Leo can help with my Kagero weakness. I am also training up Azura, Camilla, and Lyn simply because I have them and I might as well have all my *5s at 40.
