  1. Albert Camus- "Should I kill myself or have a cup of coffee?"

Me- *Proceeds to drink literal gallons of coffee*

  2. Psychonauts and A Hat in Time are really fun games but cost money.
  3. I wish Snake would make a comeback but I have doubts... If they can't get Snake at least get like Raiden or something I mean that would also be pretty crazy.
  4. There are actually some ant species that form alliances with other colonies. These combined colonies become these mega-colonies that can span over a billion individuals including at least a million queens. So you essentially have the UN of ant colonies containing a metric shit-ton of ants just roaming around in some forest out there.
  5. Ok what the hell, I've been creeping around here for a while now and I have yet to see you actually do anything really detrimental to the community unless I'm missing something big here. Whether what these strangers say is true or not, you have every right to defend yourself. This whole situation stinks something awful...
  6. Me and friends get together every night to play Terraria together. I've only ever played it solo in the past but playing with friends is definitely a lot more fun. Other than that, I'm afraid I've fallen into the Fortnite pit and now find myself playing that game when I should be doing work. Game is really goddamn tough but I'd be lying if I didn't think it was fun as hell.
  7. All I can say is thank God for the sort item feature.
  8. ... I accidentally put my written response answer on the question sheet and not the answer sheet.

    RIP Exam grade...

Annnd I've been given an email warning me I'm in danger of failing the course...

Time to go full tryhard mode.

  9. Please take care of yourself IRL. I love what you're doing with this game but if you ever feel something else is a major priority, then by all means put more effort into that.
  10. Guys help! My leg is caught in a Fortnite and I can't get out!

Welp, it was nice knowin' ya! Nothing can be done for that l'm afraid.~

  11. Having a tutorial is perfectly fine. Having a tutorial that is 50%+ of the actual game only proves that existence is pain. All of this depends on how complex the game is. Few games manage to strike a perfect balance between having a brief tutorial that teaches you the basics well and allowing you to learn the little tricks as you play further into the game.
  12. Psycho Pass. Its got feels but not the "Oh wow that's so sad!" kind of feels, more like the "Wow that's some fucked shit." kind of feels.
  13. I'm going to level with you here, things don't get easier from here on out and based on how you're handling your responsibilities, you certainly won't get much further from here. I don't know very much about you so all I can say is this: Just try to find something worth working toward. It can really be anything but the moment you just drop everything, you're pretty much done for. The future doesn't wait for you. Either you start taking action or you just call it quits here. Ultimately its your choice but I highly recommend you take some time to reevaluate your priorities if you have any. If not, make some.
  14. I made a thread trying to discuss horror literature last week and seems like nobody wants to comment. Softly cries in empty thread.
  15. What do you guys like in a good horror story/movie? I've never actually been too much of a fan of the genre in the past but up until recently I just can't seem to get my fill. Its not so much the actual genre I'm so interested in but the question of what makes a good horror story/movie. Based on what I've analyzed, its a lot more simpler to create an effective horror story than it is to create a romantic one. Mostly because a good horror story shouldn't have to put too much effort in building itself. Rather, the reader's imagination should be handling that aspect. The beauty of this is that the reader pretty much does this without even knowing they're doing it. Its kind of like a dream that you're witnessing instead of experiencing for yourself. I came to this consensus based on reading/listening to a metric crap-ton of SCP documents. I won't go too in-depth on what these are since you can literally go see for yourself but they are a textbook example of how to pull off this spontaneous, subconscious world-building. These documents are intentionally vague whether by literally censoring certain parts of the document or just the fact that these documents read as being based off of indirect observation as to provoke a sense of confidentiality like you're not supposed to be reading this. As a result, you begin to put things together in your mind and the result is truly horrifying. On the subject of vagueness, I observed another interesting feature of good horror development. This time its from ya boi Junji Ito, a horror manga artist. Ito's style of horror pretty much takes half the effort of reading a SCP file by providing visuals and more fleshed out (hehe) characters and settings. The ironic thing about this is that Ito rarely ever puts any effort in actually developing characters. While pretty much all his stories feature "main" characters, they are never really elaborated on. This may just seem like bad writing, but its actually completely intentional. You see, the focus of these stories are never on the characters themselves. They are just a means of eliciting the actual horror from the story. They're like paintbrushes and the fucked up spectacle of horror is the canvas. This way, the reader will never develop any real attachment which would take away from the spectacle. You are merely here to see some people get absolutely fucked up. A final thing I'd like to speak on is rationalization or rather the human need to make sense of what we see. When I was younger, I watched Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood and remember just shitting myself as I watched Jason Voorhees go to town on a bunch of helpless teens. Well... at least until the end. You see, in Part 7, one of the main characters is a girl who possesses telekinetic powers. She and Jason face off and long story short, she wrecks Jason. At that point, I was completely over this movie. By introducing some overpowered character that can face off against this brutal psychopath, the movie rationalized my fear of Jason. Up until then the movie seemed like a pretty wholesome (lol I'll stop) horror movie but the fight felt completely out of place. Its almost like the writers suddenly decided they wanted the movie to be a superhero movie which is total bullshit. Now going back to Junji Ito, he likes to end his stories (well, at least his best ones) on pretty precarious spots. He pretty much just goes "Lol, the end I guess" and leaves it at that. But that's the thing, he doesn't neuter the horror effect by wrapping up the story. He leaves you with pretty much nothing except a shrug and the dreaded feeling of not knowing what happens after. His job as the creator of the story isn't to make sense of what he's writing, he's just giving you a scenario and showing what happens when shit hits the fan in that scenario. That's about all I have time to write on so again, I'd like to know what you guys think makes a good horror story.
  16. 5hift

    A Proposition.

Wasn't Sucker Punch nerfed in Sun and Moon? Honestly, if you're losing against AI with the most baitable move in existence, you probably need to rethink how you play this game.
  17. I have pretty much the same problem. After I meet someone new and introduce myself, there's always that awkward silence that comes afterward. Introducing yourself is never enough to initiate conversation. You just gotta go in and get the ball rolling. Don't put too much thought into everything you're going to say and don't be afraid. This isn't a job interview, first impressions shouldn't matter that much.
  18. Holy crap I thought you and I actually went to the same university when you said your campus had a Starbucks and a Chick-Fil-A and also used Campus Bucks. Then I saw your school mascot and realized we weren't.
  19. Recently I have found immense fascination in reading SCP files.

There is truly something terrifying about how their authors manage to convey that sense of helplessness through their work.

  20. Depending on how your school handles printing, you definitely want to have your own printer or at least get to know someone who does. At my school they charge like .25 cents per sheet and I just really don't feel like going all the way to the library just to print something. Thankfully my roomate allows me to use his printer as long as I pitch in for more paper and ink. This Epson Expression Home XP-440 will set you back 50 bucks but it sure makes printing stuff more convenient. Not to mention its nice to be able to help others around you out when they need to print something as well.
  21. Rotating map confuses the hell outta me sometimes. I feel its better to sort of physically "see" where I'm looking on the map.
  22. If I were you, I'd take this as an opportunity to fully dedicate yourself to a goal such as succeeding in school and finding a place of your own where your annoying ass mother can't reach you. Life is basically chock-full of uncomfortable situations. What sets you apart from the people who have unfortunately chosen to end it here is that you're still around to change things for yourself and maybe even the people you care about. Please, do not stop here. Treat your situation as a catalyst to improve your life, rather than destroy it. A mere change in perspective can go a long way.
