Things Ame should do (lol not do) in Pokemon Reborn.
Chase replied to Reignited'Light's topic in Reborn City
I think if it's a feasible challenge, and there is at least one counter, Ame should just go through with it. No matter what it is. -
If we're going to try and legitimize the idea that Reborn has ties to a original religious belief, I would have to go with option 2. Arceus was the most worshiped deity. The Arcean citadel under the Grand Gate is probably the oldest standing structure in the region. This leads me to believe that before Team Meteor began their antics, and possibly even before the construction of what was originally Reborn City during the time of Adrienn, there were people that worshiped Arceus in the area. It should also be known that the belief in Arceus as a deity originates from the Sinnoh region (as evidenced from the records found in the Canalave Library) Now, whether or not you accept those records as fact or poem (A la the book of Genesis) is completely on you to decide for yourself. This means that people that believe Arceus is a creator "deity" Pokemon are not merely a cult located in Reborn, for it seemingly was a national theology in Sinnoh. It's possible that Reborn and Sinnoh have some sort of immigration based history, and knowledge of the Arceus story traveled with the original Reborn settlers to the new region. The "apocalypse" most certainly has had an effect, but not due to "forgotten" faith. The cause of the agnostic or atheist belief became prevalent as Reborn City was built over the citadel. Here's where we can classify "believers" of such diety. 1. Nominal Arceanic people - Those who believe Arceus created the earth, but hardly practice any given commandments or worship Arceus (There is no official compiling of commandments, and the only official texts regarding Arceus are those of the creation story. There is existant religious text excerpts in the Episode 11 area regarding the extremist Arceanic cult located in Reborn however, which the player is encouraged by Randall to read, and it proves helpful in the player making his or her escape.) 2. Practicing people - People that believe Arceus is the creator deity and actively worship/proclaim as such, but do not ltranslate "texts" completely literally. 3. Extremists - (El and his cult exemplify this in-game, no need for explanation.) Now, Extremist believers tend to be the ones that stay true to the path the most and are the least affected by outside philosophical ideas. Elsewhere though, the construction of Reborn City as a hub for ideas could have potentially hampered the spread of Arceanic ideals. Finally, we have the reign of Team Meteor, which moved most Reborn citizens from pursuing intellect and safety needs (as found on Maslow's pyramid of Need) to the bottom of the pyramid, hunting down physiological (or basic) needs such as food, shelter, etc. No need for religion when you need actual bread over the bread of life here.

NAME: Minerva SPECIES: Honedge (Level 13; No-Guard (Both Honedge’s and opponent’s accuracy is raised to 100%) Notable “moves” - Shadow Sneak (through breeding parent Honedge evolutionary relative with another.) - Cut (through previously learning the Hidden Machine) - Protect (through previously learning the Technical Machine) - Swords Dance (known from Pokemon’s birth.) GENDER: Female AGE: 77 (We’re talking about a possessed sword here, but I was shooting for a non-Sue age) APPEARANCE: Standard Honedge anatomy - Blade, Hilt, cloth appendage. The blade itself is a Honedge’s natural tint of silver, while the cloth is a significantly faded version of Honedge’s shiny variation. QUALITIES: Quiet, Helpful, Methodical, Patient….(negatives- Mourning, has trouble holding conversation that isn’t in the form of following orders, is hard to grow attached to as a friend.) BACKSTORY: Years before Team Galactic succeeded in capturing the Pokemon of Time and Space, there was an elderly man who lived in Kalos with his Pokemon, Minerva - a young Honedge. The man and Minerva were companions that travelled the various regions and worked tirelessly for the common good of humankind, through the means of protecting settlements by engaging in battles with troublemakers, and cutting down foliage so that towns and cities could expand. The man then found out he was dying due to an illness, and wanted the best for Minerva. Knowing the possessive qualities of the Honedge evolutionary line, he decided to put himself to rest quickly by brandishing Minerva and allowing her to consequently drain his life energy. Minerva understood her trainer’s wishes and his ailments enough to comply, so this was by no means a tragic death. After the man died, Minerva left the body, which appeared to be safely tucked in bed, save for the one arm that had brandished her. Lack of scientific confirmation on Honedge at the time led to the cause of death being the illness, leaving Minerva in the clear. Minerva’s qualities largely resemble her previous trainer, willing to help when needed, as well as brave enough to fend off most existing threats. Her mentality, very much like the old man’s, is built around purposeful strategy and finding joy in completing tasks. This leads to her being secluded and only present to others by happenstance caused by the other party or in times of need. Rumors have it that the sword Pokemon is possessed by a Kalosian warrior woman (no notable reputation) that served the King that built Parfum Palace. Minerva found herself continuing the old mans services as she boarded ships and travelled the Earth without a Trainer to claim her. Eventually, the calamity happened, causing her to be separated from others for the time being. Have at thee, and do feel free to make suggestions. This was a rough first take.- 603 replies

I was trying to be subtle about it. Despite how good it is in Reborn, it's not one of my favorite starters. That's not the point of trying a challenge like this of course.
-
Well, I figured I would try this out with an OC and see how it goes. Name: Crispin Trainer ID: 54291 Looking at the criteria, Crispin will have to befriend the Generation 3 Fire Starter, Torchic. That's not a bad draw, I guess.

Is there room for one more? This sounds really interesting. I do know that jumping into a story has to be approved first. If it is alright, I would like someone to compile a list. I got the impossible Steel/Ghost typing doing the trainer test the last time, but before then had rang up Ghost the previous.....six times.- 603 replies

Ah, X and Y's evil organization..... For me, it just seemed like Team Flare was a series of multiple ideas spurred on by other parts of the game thrown together in order to hastily create a story, and as a result, it seemed very "messy". Let's start with the bottom rung of Team Flare - The grunts. The people that spent their life's savings on being a Team Flare member. If you converse with these characters the recurring theme is "style". As stupid a cause as it sounds, it does mirror the importance "style" actually has in the games. continuing upward we have the Admins, sporting contrasting white suits with orange insignia as opposed to the usual red with white embellishments. The biggest theme here is a tie between the importance of Lysandre and taking care of one's own hide. Well. We're getting somewhere here plot-wise, but the major point of the Admin's dialogue is to stress survival. If you do some reading between the lines, you will remember that AZ and his Floette also had to come to terms with this theme. However, the evil organization interprets this as a selfish and seemingly groundless reasoning for wiping out the Kalos region....Doesn't add up quite yet. Perhaps it will get better? Unfortunately, it doesn't begin to come together with the most disappointing characters in the game - the Team Flare Scientists (or the four "boss-battle" chicks that are encountered multiple times throughout the game.) These scientists do raise interesting points if you walk into them, such as Mabel commenting that the player and Team Flare are after similar goals after giving you the Elevator Key. However, they don't provide much insight at all as to what Team Flare is trying to accomplish up-front, which I feel left me a little lost throughout the initial playthrough. and finally, we have Lysandre himself. The man who is after a beautiful world....and if you don't put much thought into it...that's all you really get out of him too. The thing Lysandre notes is that overpopulation will lead to competition. He comes off as a rather communist thinker here, and -IF- you catch the reference, you finally have a little appreciation for the attempt at a story. However, we're left to equate captalism and competing for/hoarding resources to be just cause for firing some sort of ultimate weapon. Secrecy, Survival, Style, and the quest for a Beautiful World. All thrown together in a mixed bag that requires analysis and historical attribution in order to see the arc Game Freak wanted to provide. The themes mirrored all the themes for the rest of the game, but it wasn't presented in a way the typical Pokemon player would understand and appreciate it. ...which in reality, is a bit of a shame, considering that the previous Generation brought all kinds of amazing story to the Pokemon Universe.

I don't know where the final battle with Fern will take place, but you further solidified the validity of the theory of Anna being champion by mentioning the third piece of evidence, which happens to be much more concrete and explained in the dialogue than my analysis was. (I like to speculate, and for what it's worth, all I did was throw darts at a board and tried to find the perfect trajectory for the dart to come as close to the target as possible.) Radomus. We know that we will have a gym leader for each Pokemon type here in Reborn, no repeats. Because Radomus was a Psychic gym leader, as you mentioned, Anna can't be an "acting" Psychic gym leader. This leaves her with three possible positions. 1. Anna may be a "reserve" gym leader, a la Aya or Fern. (This is a buzzkill scenario, as the orphanage scene generates quite a buzz for another position.) 2. Anna may also be a member of the Elite Four, and she zipped Noel up for the sake of denying the player knowledge of his opposition too early. 3. Anna may be the Reborn League Champion, which is where all of the evidence tends to lead.

Gah...I'm still awake.....Anyways, you did say please. Right back at you, Oozy.

Based off of what we know, Anna seems like the best bet. - As Rose above pointed out, Noel tries to tell the player who Anna is after she is finished introducing the other orphans when the player first visits, only to be stifled quickly by his sister in the process. It's almost in the same scene that we find out about Laura being an Elite 4 member, and Noel being a gym leader. Further evidence that would suggest Anna being related to the Champion's title goes as follows. Anna is a Psychic type trainer in the Reborn League. A common trait among Psychic trainers in the games is that of foresight, or being able to predict an event before it happens. The other ability Psychic trainers display is that of telekinesis. The former is the relevant trait here, possibly seeing events such as the protagonist challenging brother Noel, friend Charlotte and possibly sister Laura, a recently relinquished orphan that had aged out of the system. Does the foresight stop there? There's the issue of "glowiness" - or the visual attribute Anna gives to the player after he or she is let into the orphanage that first time. Now, what is physical to Anna may be an abstract representation that is meant to indicate something more concrete. In this case, the protagonist may have a potential "glowing" destiny ahead of them. Why is this unique? Anna is the first character to project a positive light on the protagonist that isn't only referencing a current or recent past event. (other characters, such as Julia and Florinia will acknowledge the help that the player was in their exploits against Team Meteor, but Anna will only mention that the player is "glowy." and will not elaborate why.) Now, what does "glowiness" have to do with being Champion? Let's take a look at a couple of main series titles. RSE character Steven Stone, a champion, is encountered very early on in your Hoenn adventure, and one of the first things out of his mouth, upon merely meeting the protagonist in Granite Cave is about the protagonist potentially becoming Champion. The only thing known about Steven is that he is the Devon Corp. President's son, and the recipient of the letter you were supposed to deliver. Diantha, a champion, is only known to be a movie star upon your initial encounter with her. The interesting words from her lips are those that indicate that for some reason, Diantha would like to participate in a Pokemon battle. This scene takes place in the cafe Soliel. Later on, the player battles two Team Flare grunts in the front of the Team Flare HQ, which happens to be known as the Lysandre Cafe. So, Pokemon Battles happen in cafes.....why didn't Diantha battle the player right then in there, if battling was so important an urge to her? Both Steven and Diantha -forshadowed- the player's destiny. This ties directly in a possibility with Anna forshadowing the "glow" of glory that is being crowned Champion. She is decisively more vague than both main series champion examples, yes, but only because the medium of forshadowing stems from extrasensory forsight as opposed to outward acknowledgement. All of that, coupled with Noel's silencing, leads me to believe that little Anna is the best candidate for the job at THIS point in time.

Alright, I did some thinking on some grand master list of possibilities. Because of the size of the list, it shouldn't really spoil anything. Also, this is all mere speculation, so there is a large chance all of my darts miss the board. Pokemon that may be implemented -somewhere- in the game to counter the next gym leader. (Presumably Terra) Phantump - The evolved form of this Pokemon is a Grass/Ghost seed staller 'mon competitively. It's one of the few Kalos Pokemon that isn't released in Reborn yet that -isn't- an obvious write off due to competitive prowess. The biggest apparent case against Deku scrub here is that Pumpkaboo is obtainable in Reborn already, but due to how far we have come in the game, it may still be a possible event 'mon. Ferroseed - This one seems unlikely, but with regards to Terra, Ferrothorn would lose it's resistance to Ground type attacks, which makes Earthquake threatening. Also, it's a slower Pokemon. It would probably find it's way on a few teams for other uses than for this gym. The double-standard puts the Pokemon on the list. Frillish - Yet another wallish Pokemon, this team evolving into Water/Ghost type Jellicent. This Pokemon probably is very unlikely, if I'M Amethyst. But, because I'm not, this pokemons still on the possibility board. You don't see too many people run Jellicent on story teams. Cacnea - The major problem with this Pokemon is that the desert area of Reborn doesn't even look like a remotely near future happening. As an event 'mon that could be a potential offering with regards to the next gym though, this pokemon is not a standout high echelon competitor and would, in my eyes, one of the greatest possible picks from this list. If Ame were to release this Pokemon, I would probably have to hunt for it the moment I see it's been discovered. (Ah, Pokemon Online...) Mountainous Terrain Pokemon Skarmory - A good defensive Pokemon that would not enjoy being hit with the move Smack Down in Terra's gym. It's not the greatest offensive Pokemon there is, and Reborn will put some limits on it at this stage in the game. I would anticipate this Pokemon being a rare find in the wild. Meditite - I don't know what the plans are regarding Mega Stones for this game, but Medicham is a decent Pokemon that I could see living in the next area. This may also be an event Pokemon. I just have a feeling about this one. Hippopotas - X/Y has provided me with the inclination that this Pokemon may appear in the near future, given that game's Hippopotas habitat. Rufflet/Vullaby Rhyhorn - potential area near the next episode.

playing through Y version again, thinking of using a different set of Pokemon from my first team to run through the Elite Four. I know for sure I'm running Chandelure, Krookadile, Gallade, Azumaril, Crobat, and...probably Mega Ampharos. The problem is, I have alot of breeding and hunting before I can have that team rolling. For now, thankful for Bibarel and it's uncanny field move mastery.

No thanks Sheep. I like the feeling of having to find all of my Pokemon, and using those that may not be the cream of the crop stat wise in story runs. I really do appreciate the offer though!

Pretty sure I pay Bibarel with Pokepuffs, playtime, and battle experience. I'm not one of those trainers that doesn't use their HM user in battle.

Howdy. First things first, know that your adventure won't exactly be like anyone you may have seen playing the game before. Updates happen regularly, and with them changes are made to previously existing content. If you a play an MMO, you get kinda the same treatment with reborn. Secondly, you might want to check out Timber Dragon's "So, you want to play Pokemon Reborn..." thread. It's not a walkthrough, and only "spoils" the most troublesome parts of the Reborn League and the way it works. If you ever find yourself laying there after Florinia turns your team into jello and takes a few of your scarce pokedollars away from you without even showing any kind of emotion whatsoever, this thread also provides a sort of brutally honest, yet refreshing burst of....... something. Thirdly, the best way to keep in touch with fellow Reborn trainers is by hopping onto to the Reborn Server on Pokemon Online. Talk, battle for enjoyment, and whenever the "League" starts rolling, take on an assortment of Reborn Gym Leaders inspired by characters in the game for badges, ranks, and glory. Fourthly, leave your expectations and sanity with the doorman and he would gladly stow them away for you. Here in Reborn, things such as these have no place. If you have questions, you are welcome to ask them to anyone, but I would recommend people like Tempest above, or some guy named Vinny. He rolls around with some silly lookin' Weavile avatar that looks like it was drawn by either a college student on drugs or a sober third grader. Finally, I hope you enjoy your time in Reborn. Try not to commit any life threatening deeds, don't be bashful, and most certainly heed every warning you find on this site. We forshadow because we love....mostly.

- Ironically the first thing I want to see is a more streamlined 3rd person camera angle that isn't at all like Lumiose City whiplash cam, should they make Slateport or Lilycove a monstrous city, or just try to add some neat viewing effects. - I want to see a return of the Battle Frontier. I never played Emerald, but looking at what it did for competitive battling (which wasn't so much a thing as it is today mind you) was revolutionary and could be expanded on so many fronts. For example, they can leave the Safari Zone in-game be and put the friend safari at the Battle Frontier (Basically, Kiloude City is the Kalos BF) - I want to see Trainer Customization make a return, instead of having to appear as an Ace Trainer or something in competitive battles. Plus, Dress up is fun. - I want to see more encounters with Wally. This doesn't mean Battles, but I would love to see him have a side story that is actually told on screen. - I would like the ability to get starters from Generations 2 and 4, like Kalos. - I would like to see Secret Bases be incorperated with Streetpass mechanics instead of being able to locate them after your friend tells you where it is, as well as functionality with the PSS. - I would like the opportunity to catch either Deoxys or Jirachi in-game, as opposed to both being event Pokemon. - I would love to see Swampert and Sceptile get Mega-Evolution love, if that's going to be a thing in Hoenn this time around. - I would love some post game story that is unique to this remake only. - I would love to rebattle trainers and gym leaders using Match Call on the PokeNav. - I would love to see new Mega Evolutions, mostly for Pokemon that are relavent to the story, such as Camerupt and Sharpedo, or Mightyena, along with Pokemon that are not usually used. - I would love the ability to use field moves such as Rock Climb and Waterfall to explore new areas. .... I'll stop. I'm just happy the game I played the living daylights out of is getting a remake, but there are so many great things that could be added. HYPE.

Nothing is worse than noticing a typo in something that will probably be copy pasted on every welcome thread ever. Thanks Vinny, stole my show. Hello, Challenger. Welcome to Reborn. Good luck.
