  1. Commander Kristen didn’t even hear Henry’s taunts. She was too distracted while listening to what the public was yelling. Because she let the audience distract her, she completely missed the stun spore attack. The yellow powder rained over the Skrelp. “There is that Skitty! Poison it!” The water-poison type’s movements were slower than usual but it still managed to pull off the Toxic attack. In the meantime the Vullaby woke up with a loud cry. The bird, that often showed the same temper as Kristen, was pissed because she fell asleep so easily and went after the Venonat. “Finally, use Faint Attack!” The little egg walked over disarmingly before throwing a Sucker Punch with her small wing.
  2. I decided that on the spot xD I felt like it would be a bit too much if you could freely disable whatever attack you want without restrictions. Also the gust would be more annoying for Henry to deal with since that's Kristen's only counter against Sing / Stun Spore.
  3. Commander The second disable failed. Apparently once the move was already in effect it didn’t work twice. “Skrelp, use Water Pulse on the ground!” Even if the Venonat could still see her Pokémon, the same didn’t apply for the Skitty. Kristen could only hope the dig attack was also aimed at her airborne Skrelp so she could dodge both attacks. The Vullaby, still sleeping on the ground, was wide open. “Come on, Mandy! Wake up and use Feint Attack!” When nothing happened Kristen cursed and was forced to turn to her Skrelp once again. “Poison that Skitty, Toxic on the ground when she shows up!” ((Ground type attacks hit flying types on the ground. Vullaby is still asleep))
  4. Kristen still has a Marill. Aside from the Vullaby (which I only added because of Avis) her team will be all out offensive. In a one on one she could easily take Henry if there wasn't an audience. In a double battle she's at a disadvantage because I didn't give her decent support moves compared to the Skitty's Sing or Assist. Anyway I made her give in to her nerves because I have other plans with her in the future.
  5. Commander Kristen cursed when first her Vullaby’s Gust was disabled before she fell asleep. “Come on, wake up!” she yelled. Because of anger and nerves she was too late to instruct Skrelp. The poison type took a lot of damage, tried to shake it off and released a Smokescreen on his own accord. The smoke hid both Skrelp and the sleeping Vullaby from view. “Water Pulse! Keep on firing on both of them!” A series of water spheres blasted out of the smoke. Hosts “Kristen is in trouble now! Henry managed to put Vullaby to sleep gaining the advantage in numbers!” Marco yelled excited. “But what is the crowd yelling?” The host kept his mouth shut for a second and turned his microphone towards the audience. “Boo!! Cheap tactics!” “Did you never learn to fight fair in Orre?” “Go back to your sandbox!” Professor Redwood reacted immediately by covering Marco’s mic. “Wow, I never expected them to hate Henry this bad,” the host said. He was impressed by the negativity some of them showed towards the coordinator. “In all my years as hosting tournaments I have never seen so much hostility…”
  6. Commander Kristen didn’t even hear Henry. Her eyes were fixated on the crowd as she realized how many people were watching this event. She gulped and her thoughts drifted off to the many people that were watching back home or at their work. The Winter Cup was almost as popular as the Pokémon League. The redhead’s though returned to battle when she heard Henry order the first attack. “Use Gust and follow with an Acid attack!” The forceful wind created by the Vullaby blocked the sound based attack, blew away the yellow powder and died down before it interfered with the poisonous substance fired at both Gypsy and Rosie. Hosts “Henry makes first move and just listen to the crowd booing! Why is that, Professor Redwood?” Marco asked. The commentator didn’t know all that much about the students and had been too busy to look up their information. Redwood mused for a second. “Well, Henry doesn’t really have what you call a positive image. He isn’t popular to say the least and switched his Pokémon around before the Cup. It isn’t against the rules but it rubbed many competitors in the wrong way… What they don’t know is that the Skitty was his original partner.” “I see, this should be tough for a youngster like Henry but he doesn’t seem to be faced by all the negativity. I wonder how this will affect his battling style…” Waiting room with Phoebe The water type expert was still sitting next to Danielle and heard the entire conversation the coordinator had. “Well this battle is over so you might as well prepare yourself, Missy. Your rival never won a battle in front of a crowd and she looks like she’s about to give in to her nerves. Her Vullaby saved her this time by blowing away both attacks, even though it happened on accident. That redhead has no idea how to counter that Skitty’s singing. The Gloomy Kid wins once he hits his first attack… I hope your battle will be at least somewhat exciting…”
  7. “After that excellent performance from our Coordinators, we will close this first day of the festival. Tomorrow at 10 AM Henry and Kristen will start the tournament with their battle! Don’t miss it, it will be in the stadium! I thank you all for coming and I’ll see you tomorrow!” Marco said as soon as the bowing Pokémon left the stage. *********************** The next day; 9.55 AM “Welcome ladies and gentlemen! We are now live on television as well so all of you that are watching at home; you’re missing out on a lot of fun! Come over and experience the festival at first hand. You won’t regret it!” Marco smiled at the camera and gave a wink. “At my right is the one and only Professor Redwood! And on my left, well you probably recognize him; Devin Cadmus, Elite Four member. Both of them will stand by me with the comments and give you some insight in the participants. But as you all know the Winter Cup isn’t that easy. Every round has a different challenge and as soon as Henry and Kristen are ready, Professor Redwood will explain the rules of the first battle round. Every student has the same rules and will be disqualified if they cross the line.” Professor Redwood nodded in acknowledgement while Devin just stared at the battlefield. He didn’t like this part of the job and would probably keep quiet most of the time unless Marco asked something about the students in question. “AND THERE THEY ARE!” Marco yelled over the tremendous applause that could be heard when both Henry and Kristen entered the battlefield. Phoebe was standing behind Kristen and gave her the thumbs up while Tyron wished Henry good luck. Both of them disappeared back inside to attend to the next challengers and stand by them. Phoebe found a place next to Danielle, who was in the waiting room and could see Henry’s battle on a screen. Some others, like Jacob from group B, were there already as well. Shiro on the other hand had to wait with Tyron on the other side. “Professor Redwood, can you inform us what kind of extra challenge the competitors are going to get?” Marco asked when the applause died down a little. “It would be my pleasure,” Redwood smiled. “The first round is a double battle! Each competitor is allowed to only use 2 Pokémon. To make it even more difficult there is no switching out. Once someone loses both Pokémon, it’s over. Both students have to pick their Pokémon at the same time so there is no advantage by deciding last. Henry and Kristen; if you both are ready you can choose your Pokémon without releasing them. Once you hear the buzzer the battle starts. Good luck to both of you!” Kristen was nervous. She felt like throwing up and stared at the ground. She didn’t even look at Henry or made any of her bitchy comments. She grabbed her two Pokémon and waited for the buzzer to release them. She expected Henry’s Skitty and Venonat and the only way to counter his ace was to counter with hers. From there on out she could only hope to gain the advantage over the Venonat. A few seconds later the buzzer went off. “Let the first match of this Winter Cup, the first match of group A between Henry and Kristen, begin!” Marco yelled enthusiastically. A Vullaby and a Skrelp were standing ready on Kristen’s side on the field while their trainer secretly wished she had a bucket.
  8. Alright I was just confused because it didn't look like that was the last part. Anyway I'll wait to update until it's finished. I just wanted to see some movement after days of barely any activity.
  9. “Good idea, Lars.” Logan quickly tossed one of his empty capsules and captured the Spheal without too much effort. The young medic stared at the ball for a second before turning to his fellow soldier. “So, any luck with Sleepy? Because at this rate we’re going to wander around for a very long time…”
  10. “I see…” Trystane replied. “Well, thanks for the supplies. I think I’ll take your advice and visit the Cartographer next. He gave the man a small wave and quickly left the store. “One more stop, Argo,” the young Hunter informed the shadow steed before heading off to the next shop. "Anyone here? The stars led me here!"
  11. So did Commander finish the show? If he did the next update will probably be tomorrow.
  12. 'Tomorrow' ended a long time ago. I'm starting to lose my patience and interest. You all have until Sunday to finish it before I'm moving ahead and won't give another chance to do something like this.
  13. While Flora was working her magic, Logan managed to sneak up on the Spheal and slowly started to treat it. The Ice-Water type shuddered with fear when the young medic came closer and prepared for the worst. Flora’s soothing started to lose some effect as soon as Logan touched the Spheal’s wounds. “Shhh, easy, we won’t hurt you,” the medic mumbled and as soon as he touched the wounds, the Spheal fainted, allowing him to heal it much faster. Logan turned to Lars. “I finished healing, but we can’t leave it here. I think I’ll take it with me.”
  14. Why_not? I'm Chim and I usually lurk around the RP forums. I'm bad at writing something about myself because this is all I can come up with. xD Anyway like some other users my very first RPs were on this forum. I only started out a few months ago by joining Surge Story and in the meantime I run my own. You may have seen the Pokémon Academy threads around. It's just a little RP *cough*. Before joining RPs I used to write small stories but never finished them because I either got distracted or lost interest. I took a giant break and didn't write anything for years until almost a year ago. I quickly fell into old habits and only seem to finish things when others are involved. If it goes at my pace it either goes incredibly fast until I lose interest or I postpone for too long and forget. I never really wrote for people to read my work because I never considered it good. An old friend of mine is the only one I showed some funny short stories. Even if you ask me about those now; they're all gone. Which brings me to strong and work points. I have no idea about the strong ones because half the time I'm just doing something. Building worlds, if I'm familiar with the concept, might be one and I enjoy creating stuff. It makes me feel like god. I can also come up with things on the spot which is necessary in the way I host and I like to collect all my information in word documents, but that's more a habit of mine. The weak points! Oh boy, where to start? Inexperience, grammar mistakes, typos, ... I used to try and update even when I was tired / in a hurry or distracted (I do it less now xD) and my writing pretty much sucks if I do that. If I read it back I just want to delete it all. What else? Plans maybe? Well that's pretty simple: finish Ymora and don't get (immediately) killed in the other RPs. I may also start a side story that's been dwelling in my mind for weeks. If I'm not too lazy...
  15. “Do you see that?” Logan asked Lars. “It looks hurt… Wait! We won’t harm you!” The medic released Flora and chased after the blue ball, quickly catching up. “Flora, do your thing.” “Baay!” An aroma escaped from the Dinosaur’s buds as she tried to calm the Spheal down. “Ok, let’s wait until this works before I can start the treatment.”
  16. “I’ll just be taking some food and water for a long trip, good man,” Trystane tipped his head as thanks and walked over to the water first. “But if you don’t mind me asking; what do you mean by one of them? It’s like everyone here expected our arrival before we even decided to come here…”
  17. Sigurd was shocked when he saw Marcus. “This can’t be… Marcus… Who? What happened?” he mumbled, still in disbelief. He considered the Fire Templar a friend and rival more than anyone else in the group and his rage started to build up. “WHO DID THIS?” he asked again, this time his voice was pure rage, “AND WHERE DID THE BASTARD RUN OFF TOO?” The Wind Templar’s saliva flew around as he tried to find a clue to where to go and unleash his fury. ((Not like Akuma’s berserker thing. Sigurd would probably get killed if he fought like that))
  18. As soon as the Coordinators are done I'm going to move forward to the battles the next day.
  19. I won't be able to update for a while in the RP section because I'm sick. Just looking at my screen is already too much.

  20. Panda left the RP. This means groups B and F change. (I'll edit it once I find that post) Block B: (Winner vs Block D) Shiro vs Nadia Jacob vs Bert Block F: (Winner vs Block H) Kageharu vs Caleb (NPC) Kyle vs Victoria
  21. I was expecting Colin back! Anyway, congrats on making it into the school you wanted. I'll miss you in the RP section. I really enjoyed writing stories with you or just read what you wrote. Take care!
  22. Jory and Azery “Fine, apparently I switched you and Slade around. Not that it matters much since both of you are alike when it comes to battling. And you better not underestimate the importance of statistics. Humans are creatures of habits! When something worked for them in the past they will try to use it again if they are cornered. All of that is recorded in the statistics and I’m prepared for it. During the preliminaries a few people already resorted, unconsciously, to their habits in order to make it to the Cup. I recognized their strategy and could tell what they would do before it happened! So no, I’m not stupid enough not to check out the competition when they are battling. I merely use any source available, unlike you!” Kristen yelled at James before turning to Jacob. “I’m sorry but I’m not going to watch the opening. I want to go over my strategies one last time before tomorrow. I’m battling first so I want to have an early night.” She gave Jacob a peck on his cheek and left. She hurried over to her dorm and only a few minutes later she logged in onto the website she mentioned to James. Stratos Lana nodded and followed Mareek and his Porygon. Over the last few days she had tried to get Danielle to spill the beans about her performance, but her roommate never gave anything away. It’s not like the Breeder wanted to surprise to be spoiled but she really liked these kind of things, probably more than battling, and couldn’t help herself. Coordinators “Alright Ladies and Gentlemen, are you ready for this amazing show? Here they are! The Coordinators!” Marcos yelled enthusiastic. He clapped his hands while leaving the stage and the crowd quickly followed his example. The Coordinators were met with an incredible applause when they took their respective spots. The second years in the lead gave the signal to start. Kristen I can’t believe I messed up my facts… How could I mix up the battles James and Slade fought? It’s not like I researched everything about James, but I did so with everyone who was mentioned as a strong battler. The redhead took a deep breath and started recalling everything she had on Jacob. As usual she got her facts right and after a quick check she did the same with Henry. Of course she hadn’t studied the Orre rebel all that much, but enough to know his battle style and tricks. Henry Baldwin; the least favorite competitor and had to deal with a lot of negativity. He will most likely keep his head cool and not screw up because of stress or pressure. Therefore we rank him last on the Self-destruction List. Kristen recalled it perfectly but it didn’t raise her confidence, on the contrary, her nerves increased. Being a local Kristen grew up with stories about the Winter Cup. A competition that tried it’s very best to test students and throw them off their game plan. Preparation wasn’t everything as there were a lot of uncertain factors. Competitors never knew the rules about the upcoming battle, the field and had little to none tricks left. And then there was the visibility factor which left trainers that couldn’t think on their feet behind. Aside from that there was the stress factor and battle history. It wasn’t unusual for a first year to lose his calm and lose his nerves in front of such a big crowd. Some older years still struggled with it. The battle history was basically a play by play from each battle a student fought while attending the Academy. Students that pushed their Pokémon over the limit to reach victory usually met the backlashes around this period of time. Over the years there were some surprises, like favorites freezing on the spot, or students outdoing themselves, but not many. The Competitor Ranking Website took everything into account which earned them the reputation of being a very reliable source. And that was exactly what Kristen was afraid of. Self-destruction List Nr. 4: Kristen Brown. While this trainer has top grades and some skills in battles, she has never won a battle in front of a crowd. She’s her own worst enemy and will probably lose due to her nerves. The only reason she ranks fourth on this lists is because the three above have Pokémon that reached their current limit.
