  1. Dobby “I feel the same when it comes to my little brother…” Jaime pondered. “Unfortunately I only arrived this morning so I missed the spectacular show since I was on a ship. I don’t deal well with those things so I was either in my bed or rolling to some place where I had the opportunity to turn my stomach inside out. I wish we were able to see it though since Lily kept bothering my mom about it. Apparently she has her eyes set on becoming a Coordinator.” Zephyr Lana chuckled. “That sound weird coming from you. I already have a strategy in mind so I hope I can catch him off guard. What about you? Did you actually prepare this time?” Phoebe’s waiting room (K_H and everyone else in there) “Yes! Free lunch is almost mine for a week! I should’ve bet our Pokémon’s food too… dammit! Alright, Destructive Kid, get moving to the field. If you lose I’ll make you pay my dinner!” Hosts “That was a quick battle. With his performance Jacob shows why he’s one of the favorites! Nadia is warned! So, Professor Redwood, why don’t you introduce us to the C-Block competitors?” “It would be my pleasure. The next battle is between Kenny and Paul. Both of them are, again, in the trainer program. Kenny is an unusual trainer to say the least. He uses an offensive style, like Paul, but the latter is more unpredictable in his battling. Kenny really relies on his Lucario and Zorua so I wonder how they will fair against Paul’s Croagunk and Swellow. At least that’s the battle I’m expecting. There’s a possibility Paul might go for his newly evolved Accelgor. ((You can pick 2 out of the 3)) Jory When Bert recalled his Poliwhirl, Kristen already moved back to ‘ waiting room. She could tell the outcome even before the battle started.
  2. Leaving the grounds isn't the smartest way. It can lead to being expelled.
  3. Gates are usually closed unless there's a trip or something. But with the Winter Cup it's wide open. Expect severe punishment for those that leave the grounds though. I never mentioned it. Rustboro might be decent but probably too crowded to put down something similar as Ymora Academy. (Which isn't located in a city fyi) I'd say somewhere close to Mauville City or maybe even Slateport. I prefer the first location though.
  4. That's fine. I'm not going to control Bert so if you want to make things easier you can just mention you won. First round isn't that important.
  5. Commander and Dobby “Claude the Extraordinaire?” Jaime chuckled. “I don’t have such a great intro, but I’m Jaime, Evan’s brother. As you can see I inherited the looks, personality and skills!” he laughed. If Claude had an eye for detail he could see the brothers shared a similar build and cheekbones. The hair and eye color and Evan’s glasses seemed to be the only differences. “Don’t forget the ego,” Evan added before turning to Henry. “I had to deal with that every day so I can handle the extra trouble.” He then looked at the screen. “It looks like the crying kid lost so I’m heading towards the waiting room. My Block is almost up.” He passed by Claude and Jaime and smacked the latter on his back. “Oi! I’m in a wheelchair! Be gentle with me!” the boy pouted. Evan raised his finger in reply. “Ah, you got to love brothers. Tell me, Claude the Extraordinaire, do you have siblings?” Zephyr Lana mused. “To be honest I would’ve preferred to battle him later in the tournament. I know what people say and I really wanted to prove them wrong. Despite that I’m shy and don’t show confidence, I know my Pokémon can put up a decent fight. I just hope Mareek doesn’t go easy on me…” Phoebe’s waiting room (Jory and everyone else in there) The Water type expert entered the room again with a big grin on her face. This was her chance to gain the advantage over Tyron and make the score three to one. “Alright troublemakers, where is Jacob? You better win your match, Pretty Boy!” she yelled. Hosts (Jory) “Poor kid,” Marco said when he saw Shiro cry. Devin and Redwood were silent. They made eye contact and the Elite Four member shook his head. It was time Shiro stood on his own two feet and this was an opportunity the boy could learn from. Redwood accepted Devin’s decision and took the word. “Now the Coordinator’s winning streak is broken, it’s time for the second battle in Block B. A lot of students have been waiting for this one. Jacob, considered the favorite by many, is facing Bert. Both are in the trainer program.” Before Marco could officially announce both trainers, Bert already entered the field. He walked confident like he didn’t fear Jacob and maybe even tried to intimidate him. The boy took his place and already released both of his Pokémon and waited in silence, arms crossed. “What’s this?” Marco asked surprised. “We’re only in the first round but it’s one thing after another! Why would Bert already release his Pokémon?” It was Devin who replied. “He’s making a statement. He doesn’t care if he has to fight at a disadvantage. He prepared for this battle and hyped up his Pokémon, just look at the expressions on Poliwhirl and Hitmontop’s faces. Tacos A cry could be heard as a Skarmory swooped down from the sky and entered the Arena’s hall. The steel bird overslept after the performance she gave on top of the Haunted House yesterday and Evan hadn’t bothered waking her up. To be honest he probably felt relieved the bird didn’t stalk him for a few hours.
  6. EQ is fine. He learns it naturally so I don't see a problem. If someone goes around creating perfect movesets I'll say something about it since I want to keep that for the second year. Edit: Since Shiro is out, I'm going to control Nadia as an NPC when she fights Jacob.
  7. Updates are coming probably tomorrow or Sunday. I didn't have the time today and Saturday's are busy.
  8. Tacos and Jory “One small incident?” Kristen snorted, “This has been happening since the Pre-Academy. Once there’s an audience or someone I want to make proud I can’t keep my head clear and mess up. So don’t compare this situation with what happened in the Hills. I still don’t know what exactly happened there and I don’t care about it.” The redhead almost burst into tears when Jacob hugged her. “It’s not like you need me there to win, but if it helps I’ll watch from the stands. I don’t need other students stare at me and wonder what I’m still doing in the waiting rooms after losing to Henry and his Skitty.” Zephyr “You mean Mareek?” Lana absentmindedly still petted Lucifer. “No, we have to battle each other and I’m in Professor Silva’s waiting room. I guess he’s either somewhere in the audience or in Professor Arlyn’s room.” Her attention was drawn when Shiro and Nadia entered the field. “What about you? Who’s your opponent again?” Commander (K_H and Stratos) “Is the show over?” Evan asked to no one in particular when Kenny and Mareek left. “Pity, I was about to grab some popcorn…” "Sorry for ruining your nice conversation. I just...felt the whole situation was eerie. Good luck with your battle." “I don’t even know what that was all about. By the way did you just say that guy is Kenny? Interesting… He’s in my block so I might have to face him. How nice of him to give away what his Lucario and Zorua can do.”
  9. No, they aren't necessary. But don't worry about it, if you don't want it I can always level the field so Claude isn't at a disadvantage against someone who has it. Also I control who finds a stone and when. There won't be a Lucarionite or a Blastoisinite or whatever without my permission.
  10. Yes, I mentioned in the last update she's using Prinplup and Klink. Her personality is up to you. And she's a Breeder.
  11. Btw about the Kenny and Mareek situation: Ryu could've located Java before the Porygon went inside the tv. After that he can notice something being wierd but not that it was Java and certainly not what he was doing because that's spoiling everything that's going on. The last part should be impossible to tell anyway. Not exactly sure how they did in the movies / anime when Lucario tries to locate someone by using his Aura, but I just see it as some sort of 'spiritual' form and not in the shape of what he's looking at. That also means it's impossible to put names on the aura he senses. Example; he can sense 2 aura's where Evan and Henry are, but can't tell them apart. For all Ryu knows it is Evan who's leaving instead of Henry.
  12. I don't even know why Bonemerang counts as a ground type move... So yes, it does damage to Pokes with Levitate or Flying types.
  13. Good to know you're still around. And you can choose. DarkLight did the battle but you can just say you won if you don't want to do it.
  14. I don't care if they move around. I just wanted to avoid pushing everyone in the same room and it makes sense you don't see your opponent right before the battle. It also gives me the opportunity to play around with Phoebe. Since I have no idea if Bfroger is still around, I'm going to wait 48 hours before mentioning Shiro somehow won his battle and move on to Jacob.
  15. Outside Phoebe’s waiting room (PCs can hear this if they want) Evan was watching the battle on one of the screens in the hallway. He didn’t feel like going into the waiting room filled with students. There were still 4 battles before his so he decided to work on a tactic. He was tempted to use both Vaporeon and Ninetales to shut down his opponent’s water and fire attacks, when someone smacked him on the back. “Watch out where you… JAIME? What are you doing here?” “Hey little bro,” the boy in the wheelchair said, “And you know, I was just rolling around in the neighborhood and thought I’d say hi!” he grinned. Evan raised an eyebrow. “Very funny. You should become a comic. Can’t get any worse compared to your trainer skills.” “I would but it would make me too popular with the ladies. It’s a pain being this handsome.” He waved his hair around pretending to be a model. Evan knew that his brother, despite his joking, really was popular at the Hoenn Academy. Jaime was barely taller if he managed to stand up straight, but what really made him popular were his deep blue eyes and long brown hair. His looks coupled with his skills as a trainer made him the number one in his year. After a rocky start in his first year, Jaime was undefeated for 8 months now. The boy never bragged about it except when he teased his little brother, adding the pressure for Evan. “Shut up idiot. Where are mom and Lily? They aren’t here are they?” Jaime frowned. “Why wouldn’t they be? They’re in the stands right now. Lily wanted to see you but mom said not to distract you before your battle.” Evan sighed. “You know what I mean! How did she get the money to come to Ymora?” he whispered. He didn’t want everyone to know he was poor as hell. “Double shifts…” Jaime didn’t like it either but he couldn’t stop his mother. “I told her you wouldn’t like it if she overworked just to come here. She knows you would prefer for us to watch at home but she really wanted to come. At least she promised me she would stop working double shifts when we get back home.” Evan shook his head. “You should’ve stopped her. There are better ways to spend that money. I can handle myself.” “That’s not it. We just wanted to see you battle. Not everyone gets into Ymora so we can’t miss this.” Jaime explained. “What about you? Shouldn’t you be at Hoenn Academy?” “I left early for a doctor's appointment. I skipped the tournament but I won last year and I still have next year. I don’t mind missing out this time.” Jaime smiled a little and gave Evan another smack on his back. “Relax a little and concentrate on your battle. Worrying about mom and Lily right now isn’t going to help anyone. Lily sees this as a holiday so we decided to stay tomorrow too. Anyway I’m heading back to the stands. I’m looking forward to see you get your ass kicked!” A hearty laugh and a friendly wave was all Evan got when his brother went back to the rest of his family. Tacos and Jory Kristen wasn’t in the mood to get advice or whatever Ryan was trying to do. “I don’t know what you’re up to or hope to achieve with this, but leave me alone. I’m not going to have this conversation with someone that doesn’t know anything about me.” She turned around, ready to leave Ryan behind, when Jacob showed up. “No, I’m not. I thought preparing and researching everything about Henry could help me with battling in front of a crowd but I just can’t do it. I need to think about what I’m going to do next because obviously I’m not cut out to be a trainer.” Kristen’s tone was blunt and harsh, but at the same time she tried her very best to hold back her tears. Zephyr Lana clapped with enthusiasm when her roommate when her battle. She also secretly admired Danielle’s courage for singing a song in the middle of battle. The Breeder waited for the next competitors to arrive when she noticed something warm above her. “Oh hey Lucifer, what are you doing here?” She stuck out her hand to pet the ghost type. ExLink Instead of escorting Nadia to the battlefield, Phoebe stared at Slade. “I noticed this in class but you really are one of the weirdest kids this year. And I’m including Fruity so that says a lot.” She nudged her face in Claude’s direction to make clear who she meant. “Oops be right back! I need to escort the students to the field! Oi, Steel Girl, where you at?” she yelled through the waiting room before sprinting to the door. “Wait for me!” Hosts (Bfroger) “And Danielle takes the win after one of the most unique strategies I’ve ever seen!” Marco yelled in his mic. Professor Redwood chuckled and Devin nodded in appreciation. The latter was impressed by how Danielle managed to get the Larvesta out of her shell. After the referee gave him his mic back, Marco took the word again. “We now know the final in Block A: Henry versus Danielle; a battle between Coordinators! But Professor Redwood, what about Block B and the upcoming battle?” “Ah yes, the next battle is between another Coordinator and a Breeder. The Coordinators are doing really well so I’m curious if Shiro, a shy boy, can uphold their winning streak. His opponent, Nadia, is a Breeder that’s specializing in Steel Types. Unfortunately for Shiro that specific type counters his whole team offensively and defensively but some of Nadia’s Pokémon aren’t Steel types yet so that might be his way to win. Bfroger Tyron quickly located Shiro in the waiting room. “Your turn, kid, give them a good show and make sure you win!” He grinned and gave the Coordinator thumbs up before dragging him to the field. A minute later the buzzer went off and Nadia released her Klink and Prinplup.
  16. She's leaving the stadium. She was in Phoebe's waiting room so you can mention seeing her somewhere there.
  17. She's in the stadium since her battle isn't any time soon. But since Mareek is with Phoebe she'll be in Tyron's waiting room when group F starts battling.
  18. ExLink and Azery “You sure know how to talk, Red,” Phoebe said to Slade. She had a habit of nicknaming her students despite knowing their names, skills and reputation. “But do you have the skills to back it up? The Cup isn’t that easy as you make it seem. The further you go, the more you give away about your tactics. If you don’t self-destruct in the first round that is,” she grinned. Every year there were some big mouth who blew themselves up, like that Kristen girl, and Phoebe secretly enjoyed it. “Anyway, Grandpa over there,” this time she pointed to James, “is being too cautious. If you give your opponent too much credit you start off in a bad headspace. I’m only telling you this because I don’t want to pay for Tyron’s lunch. Find the right balance in respecting your opponent and having confidence in your own skills. Do that and you’ll avoid a situation like we just saw.” She grinned when she looked back at Danielle’s battle. “Oho, Missy seems up to something. I like her style!” DarkLight Marco didn’t reply. He stuttered something barely hearable, trying to find the right words as to what was happening. This year seemed to be full of unique characters because he never experienced a trainer leaving in the middle of a battle and run over to the hosts. Or was Danielle just mad? The blond host settled for an expression that was a mix between amusement and staring with his mouth half open. Devin sighed. “I don’t know what you’re up to, but take mine. I don’t want this thing anyway,” he said, offering the microphone in front of him. Professor Redwood, at the other end of the table, chuckled in amusement. “This year’s students really are promising.”
  19. Logan was caught off guard by Sleepyy’s latest action and looked around the convenience store. It took him a minute or two before he fully realized there was someone else with them. A civilian? In the Urban Games area? That shouldn’t be possible… Did this mean they left the town? “I’m sorry but I can’t tell any details to a civilian about whom we are or where we came from. I don’t even know where we are…” The medic tried to make eye contact with Lars in the hope his fellow soldier could help him out.
  20. @Zephyr: If Raiza wants to meet up with Henry she can find him at the other side of the stadium. I placed him in Tyron's waiting room, but since his battle is done he's free to go where he wants as long as he's back on time for his next battle. And has anyone seen Snap around lately? I haven't seen her in days.
  21. Trystane looked with a blank expression at the duo in front of him. “In that case I’m ready to go. I took care of supplies so I’ll be waiting at the meeting point.” He gave a small wave when he left the shop and went over to Argo. “It seems like our job is done. Let’s go, maybe some of the others are waiting already.”
  22. Commander The paralysis kicked in and caused the Skrelp to be hit by another Psybeam. The Poison type could barely stand and swirled around. Kristen realized she had made one mistake after another and that it was too late to change the tide. She stared at the audience and cringed at the booing she thought was also aimed at her now. “Skrelp, come back, you did your best,” she said as soon as her Pokémon fainted. The Vullaby on the other hand didn’t seem to care about the Skitty. She went on a full out offense, hit her Faint Attack and followed up with Pluck from close range, trying to rip the Skitty’s fur and tail to pieces. “Mandy, that’s enough. We lost. I’m sorry but I just can’t keep it together in front of a big crowd like this,” she whispered, not loud enough for anyone to hear. The Vullaby just glared at Henry and his Skitty before she was recalled. The Dark type held grudges for a long time… Kristen then turned away from the field and walked inside with her head down. She realized it was about time she changed things around and gave up on becoming a trainer that participated in tournaments. Phoebe’s waiting room (Darklight and everyone else in there) The Water type expert jumped up. “Alright, Missy, it’s your turn. I hope you did your homework on your opponent. I’m supposed to be neutral but I made a bet with Tyron. If I have more students in my waiting room that win their first battle, he will pay for my meals for a week. Right now I’m losing 1-0 and I don’t want to pay for his meals!” Hosts (DarkLight) “And the battle is over! After Skrelp went down Kristen, overcome by nerves, decided to forfeit the match!” Marco yelled in his microphone. “Don’t underestimate the pressure that comes with the Winter Cup, ladies and gentlemen, but nonetheless I ask of you to applaud both competitors!” After the applause, and booing for Henry, died down Professor Redwood took the word. “Our next competitors in Block A are Danielle and Nico. The winner will face Henry later today when Block H’s battles are done.” “Can you give us some more information about these two gladiators that are about to enter the ring?” Marco’s added drama made Devin roll his eyes, but the host didn’t see it. His attention was on the battlefield where he saw Danielle and Nico leave their respective waiting rooms on opposite sides. “Danielle is a Coordinator and quite the opposite of Henry. She’s popular and has a varied team. Her Murkrow, Avis, is known to be a real prankster but isn’t to be underestimated. Nico on the other hand is in the trainer program. He usually keeps a low profile and snuck his way into the tournament. His ace is a Heliolisk. This should be an interesting battle.” ((I’m not going to control Nico. I only gave some information about him so feel free to decide on his second Pokémon.))
  23. It's not like Vullaby has a high attack stat to begin with... Anyway the Skrelp is down. Once I have the time to update it's 2 vs 1.
  24. The Vullaby is her ace and has a similar personality, only a little more cruel and unforgiving. Kristen has her under perfect control.
