[OOC/SIGNUPS] Aurora University for the Preternaturally Gifted

Hello, dear student! I am Minerva Agnusdei, President and founder of the Aurora University for the Preternaturally Gifted. I am delighted to inform you that you have been accepted to our ambitious new school, and I hope to see great things out of each and every person we've chosen to attend. Enclosed in this letter, you will find several items that will be essential to the first days of attendance, including a class registration form to be returned as quickly as possible as well as a document collecting some vital data we will need about you. . .

-Acceptance letter from Aurora University

So what is this?

This is a (hopefully) newbie-friendly roleplay about a bunch of young adults considered "supernatural" for one reason or another facing one of the most feared challenges of modern life: college. They'll learn standard college subjects like mathematics, law, literature, and the like alongside more esoteric ones like orthodox western wizardry and the proper veterinary care of magical megafauna, with the hope being that they will be able to establish themselves in both their home magical communities and the greater human world at large. It will focus mostly on character interactions without a real tight schedule - everyone's going to have a slightly different one anyway, and you never know who's gonna have to disappear into the library for midterms - alongside the occasional prod to keep things fresh and moving along.

Setting

Aurora Academy is in a world that is essentially Earth, unless where noted otherwise. The primary difference being that magic and supernatural creatures are real, and always have been real, but non-magical humans largely drove them into hiding a long time ago because, as it turns out, people are generally not huge fans of being eaten or turned into newts. The Academy is an attempt to turn that around, as the supernatural world has (mostly) moved past such barbaric ways. The hope is that they can get "monsters" to integrate with normal society seamlessly, and then reveal themselves to the world. Most, if not all the player characters, should know this. They do not, however, have to care. You're here to get an education and Aurora offers a great one at a pretty reasonable price.

Rules

  • Be respectful of the time of the GMs and the other players. Don't be excessively disruptive.
  • No bunnying, or controlling another's character without their permission.
  • It goes without saying, but follow the forum rules.
  • Keep mature content (gore, sexual, etc) minimal, and treat what does come up tastefully.
  • Listen to the GMs and moderators when they talk.
  • Try to avoid bullet-posting, or writing a number of very short posts in a short amount of time. It makes the game hard to keep up with and is bad writing practice. However, it is understood that posts in a conversation will be shorter than otherwise. This isn't a hard and fast rule, more of a guideline.

Character Sheet

Name: Should be self-explanatory. The Academy is a big deal, it'll attract people from all over.

Gender: What's in your head, not your pants.
Age: Should be at least 18 or species equivalent, unless you've got a good excuse for being younger.
Species: Pretty much anything is legal here. If you're a human with a supernatural ability, list it as "Wizard" or "Psychic" or what have you.
Appearance: Describe what the character looks like. Faceclaims are OK, but only if paired with a written description of the character as well.
Personality: A short blurb describing what the character is like. Keep it fairly brief; imagine they're being described by someone who only met them a week or two ago.
Backstory: Tell us a bit about where you came from. What was life like as you grew up, was the family big or small, did you screw around outside or sit inside and play video games. Most importantly, why did you come to Aurora? It's a bit of a risky proposition, even if you're not required to go out and do anything in particular.

With that, there's not much else to say, other than dropping an invitation for the Discord server. I hope you enjoy the game!

Franken Furter huh?

Spoiler

Name: Rocky Furter

Gender: Half a brain. A male one specifically.
Age: 18
Species: Frankensteinian horror.
Appearance: Rocky is fairly attractive by human standards, his facial damage being minimal and the stitches that were used only really adding to it. His eyes clearly mark him as a member of his species, being an almost sickly yellow in color. His hair is a deep black and cut short so that it'll stay out of the way while he works or reads. Mad science has come a long way since the days of Victor Frankenstein, which means that unlike the papery, loose skin of the original creature Rock is well muscled, and has rather smooth skin where his limbs haven't been reattaches. Breakthroughs on miniaturizing have not worked nearly as well as others, but Rocky isn't absolutely towering. He's about 7'. Okay, he's still freakishly tall but the original creature was like, 8 feet tall, that's progress.
Personality: Rocky is a fairly quiet person, but he enjoys being praised and is more than willing to stand up for anyone who's being looked down upon.
Backstory: As it turns out, monsters of Rocky's styling have a history of being involved in hunting especially rambunctious supernatural beings. Probably due in part to the fact that they are far stronger than any human based being has a right to be and also due to the fact that they're really easy to patch up if they get hurt short of brain death. After being "Liberated" from his "father" he took to studying many books on subjects that happen to have been related to law enforcement, which really kickstarted his interest in the subject. Which is why he's in this academy obviously. He has an interest in full contact European martial arts since and broken or removed limbs can just be sewed back on and his organs aren't really needed for the most part. He really loves classic action movies.

Spoiler

Name: Polly Geist

Gender: The girliest of girls.
Age: 19
Species: Ghost demihuman.

Appearance: She's medium height, five foot seven or so, and very pale. Her stylishly curled hair is platinum blonde and her eyes are a luminescent shade of emerald green that stands out against her colourless face, emphasised by long, fake eyelashes. Her lips are the same shade as raspberries with frost covering them and she has a little snub nose that crinkles whenever she's annoyed. Her outfit shuffles with her mood, her wardrobe is filled with a wide array of t-shirts and hoodies bearing logos and designs from every brand you could think of, with as many bright colours as she can get her hands on. Her physique is quite lithe, with a small amount of muscle lining her frame as proof of her commitment to taking care of herself.

Personality: Polly is a pretty enthusiastic girl, she loves to play around and have fun, sometimes at the expense of others. This enthusiasm hits its peak when she starts talking about fashion, she loves talking about and comparing aesthetics with other people and finding new ways to style herself.

Backstory: Polly is the child of a ghost and human couple. On her birthday, after a night of spiritual reconnection between her parents who had been separated when her father died, she appeared from the two of them. Her dad, who had been about to move on to the afterlife, then stuck around to protect his half-dead baby girl.

Growing up Polly showed a variety of spectral traits, not a fun night when she woke up inside her bed after unconsciously phasing through it as her corporeal body became immaterial. She eventually got a hold of the phasing though and generally lived a happily normal life, although she wasn't above surprising her friends by popping up behind them through a wall. She picked up fashion as an early passion, always citing to her parents/walking wallets that "I have a real body and I should do my best to make it look good.". Following these interests she'd often spend time at the local gym and the mall with her likeminded friends. Has a history of running cross country.

Polly came to AA after being asked by one of the few other monstrous girls in the neighbourhood, a troll girl, how to look good. Faced with the challenge of styling a monster Polly found an interesting challenge for herself and she wants to follow this with a fashion major at AA and setting up a business of some kind that caters to monstrous men and women, what that business is exactly she isn't sure yet.

Name: William 'Will' Hearthstone
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Species: Human; he can be considered a wizard since he has in-birth magical abilities

Appearance: William Hearthstone is a tall man with a slender build. He has short messy, blonde hair. His deep blue eyes appear to match his smooth eyelashes on his good looking face. He is considered by most as a handsome person. He usually bears a stoic and serious face, although at times, he is seen to be cute when he flusters and is embarrassed. He often wears a blue jacket, a black zipped up shirt, black pants, and blue rubber shoes. He also wears a ring on his right index finger.

Personality: William Hearthstone is seen by people as a saint. Most consider him as a polite and respectful person, one who always cares to greet everyone with a smile. He is also a helpful person as he often gives time to help those who are in deep trouble, and he is also known to be a generally cooperative person, one who supports the team wholeheartedly and mediates when there is conflict. One thing people should know is that despite bearing good looks, he isn't too good at intimacy. He often becomes intimidated and flustered when a person of the opposite sex does some kind of intimate action, such as hugging. Along with this, he isn't so good at love. He is often dense, and if he turns out to fall in love with someone, it would take him long to realize it and even longer to tell his true feelings.

Backstory: William Hearthstone is the second son of the 94th Hearthstone Generation. His parents are the owners of a company while his older brother is a doctor of a prestigious hospital and his younger sister is currently studying her elementary years in a private school near their home. The fortune of the Hearthstone Family is great, as they own a 50-hectare area of land while they have mansions in different cities around the world. William Hearthstone grew up in their main mansion in England, where his entire family also resided. Although they were a rich family, they were close-knit as the parents of William were not blinded by greed and interest.

At an early age, William's magical abilities were discovered by his parents. Despite being mundanes with no magical abilities whatsoever, his family accepted him wholeheartedly, even going so far as finding a tutor to teach him the basics of controlling and utilizing his power. He became good at it, and with his parent's and sibling's support, he decided to pursue magic by going to the Aurora Academy, the place where he believed that he could learn how to become even better at controlling his powers and nurturing it.

Name: Lin Zoren

Gender: Male
Age: 90
Species: Chinese Sea Dragon

Appearance: Zoren is a young sea dragon about 50 feet long in length and 3 feet in width. His body is covered in aqua green scales, with yellow fins lined along the spine. At the end of it, there is an aquamarine tail fin about 4 feet wide. His head is adorned with a large pair of golden horns that glow in darkness. Two white whiskers extend from his crocodile-like nose.

He takes a human form when traveling on land. In his human form, he's a six-foot tall, yellow-skinned teenage boy of average build, wearing verdant and white oriental clothes much like that of ancient Chinese scholars (Like this, sans the face). He takes a feathered fan with him all the time.

Personality: Zoren is very orderly and tidy. He's very interested in human culture and politics and often shares his thoughts on it. He's also a very strict person, taking upon himself to enforce rules around his living space. He rarely goes out on his own, often reading newspapers and other information media. However, with a simple 'Please', he can be dragged out of his dorm easily.

On relationships, he's often the kind that waits passively and breaks up passively, rarely making either kind of move on his own. For some reasons, he never seems to be hurt from breakups ever. Though, he does seem to read a lot of romance novels after breakups.

Backstory: Zoren hails from the East China Sea, a descendant of the East Sea Dragon King. 'Zoren' came from 'to assist' and 'man'. As a child, he loved to play with sunken ships and planes on the seafloor, but it didn't take long for him to get tired of them. He wanted to know about the world above water, so he asked his parents. In return, they took him to a Chinese hermit and had him as Zoren's teacher. The hermit was a sagacious Jinshi of the late Qing Dynasty who went into seclusion upon the Xinhai revolution. He taught Zoren all that he knew about the world, especially the politics. The young dragon showed huge interest for politics. The hermit tried his best to persuade him not to involve himself in the affairs of man. Unfortunately, when the hermit died, Zoren did not give up his goals. He'd read newspapers sold in the seaside towns nearby, constantly keeping himself updated on the state of the Asian countries. During this time, he had also exchanged information with sea monsters traveling by the Kuroshio and the Oyashio, learning even more about exotic cultures. He wanted to travel with them as well, but his parents did not allow him to do so, fearing that he might become a revolutionary with their aid.
One day, the news of the Aurora University spread to their ears. Believing that he'll be much safer in the university's care, Zoren's parents sent him there. He decides to take a major in History and aspires to raise poor countries from poverty and war.

A cup of tea is brought to someone's mouth.

Name: Edmund Blackadder Esq. The twentieth
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Species: Human Wizard
Appearance: A man of perfectly average height and an almost purposefully nondescript and average frame, he is the sort of person who could have won a school contest for the dubious prize of "Least Noticeable Person", if they had actually bothered to notice him for once. His curly black hair is kept short and neat, and his dark brown eyes have a wary look to them. He is neither spectacularly handsome nor peculiarly ugly, and the words "Cute" cannot be used to describe his sometimes slimy appearance. His expression has a tendency to rapidly flick from thoughtful to annoyed. and the man is most often found in an ancient looking Regency style black long coat, a pair of black pants, a pair of black gloves, a pair of comfortable looking black sneakers, and a pair of sunglasses that he has the good sense to never wear indoors.

Personality: Edmund Blackadder Esq. Is naturally not a very quiet person, as a part of him still yearns to be followed around at all times by a pair of adoring sycophants who would love to do nothing more than hear his brilliant plans and try their best to perform them. Of course he knows that they will inevitably fail horribly due to some sudden and uncontrollable bursts of bad luck or pure incompetence, but of course they don't exist inside of college.
Of course people don't just change at the drop of a hat, which is why outside of a class you will often find him with a set of books about alchemy when applied to poisons that he idly reads sometimes, a silver coated snuffbox with a rather noticeable dent containing several unmarked mint sweets that he occasionally snacks on and offers to anyone he is sitting next to out of what seems to be a standard British politeness, and perhaps even the brand new acoustic guitar he has brought from his home.

Backstory: Edmund Blackadder Esq. Was the only one in his generation that was blessed/cursed with the rather infamous name. A name that has supposedly influenced history at some point in the past, presumably by dying in a World War, or by being some unliked prince's butler, or perhaps even being a very minor and very impoverished Lord!. But to be brutally honest he isn't the type to talk at length about his past. Although the way the man carries himself, his noticeable contempt for the lower classes for being the lower classes, his contempt for the upper classes for being a bunch of lazy, incompetent....people, and the way that he purposefully reacts and turns to face the speaker when somebody even mentions the word "Lord" or "Sir"; suggests that he could possibly be in fact a descendant of some unknown British noble, or that he is just messing with your minds just to see if he can. The one thing that is certain is that he is here in the University simply because his parents could not think of a better place that could teach him to harness his magical abilities better, and if there is one thing that Edmund certainly liked, was the prospect of gathering more power.

Things Edmund does:

Online guides to Mongolian (He is terrible at pronunciation, although he can sort of understand people if they don't have an accent that makes it all unintelligible).

Chatting with "The Thrush" in France (He is actually quite fluent, although most of the chat is populated with swearwords and death threats on The Thrush's part).

Fencing club (Edmund is very inexperienced with this, although he has mastered the art of not hitting yourself with your own sword).

Random guitar playing (He was in a high school band as the singer and lead guitarist. It didn't pan out but a man doesn't just "forget" how to do something, especially if he was actually good at it)

Spoiler

Name: Seong-Min Jeong
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Species: Siren
Appearance:

B575hANCMAAv3jQ.jpg
(Something a little like this, with different clothes)

Seemingly easily chilly, this person's short, tidy, orange-brown colored hair is covered by a grey beanie. Their thin neck and body is covered by a dark blue scarf, coat and long-sleeved shirt, respectively. They wear shorts, revealing white-and-cyan-striped leg warmers that cover a pair of otherwise bare, bird-like legs that protrude from the knee down. In addition, wings the color of their hair protrude from their back.

Personality: A little wary of strangers, but very cheerful and friendly to people he knows. He doesn't go out of his way to make friends, preferring to be alone, especially when working on something (which is pretty often). However, he is very willing to hang out with the friends he has in his free time. Sensitive to criticism. Just a little naive.

Backstory: "There are numerous ways God can make us lonely, and lead us back to ourselves. This was the way he dealt with me, at that time."

Seong-Min Jeong was born as a siren, an all-female race of birdpeople. Taken in by his mother to be taught in South Korea, as a child he had little friends, but at the very least was a hard worker, earning high grades to the pleasure of his mother. What did not please his mother, however, was that her "dear teenage daughter" was beginning to feel a sort of resentment to "her" gender. Little Seong-Min was, outwardly, not too badly affected by this, but anyone with a brain could piece together how he really felt with the fervor with which he threw himself into his studies. Though he had aspirations of becoming a musician, perhaps being scouted by a major company, he insisted on being accepted into the high-ranking university of Aurora. Additionally, inspired by popular Kpop bands, he seeks to debut in the human musical industry. Thus, he figures learning how to integrate into their society easily from Aurora would be a good idea.

Hokay, sheet notes incoming for the ones that have been submitted thus far. As a note, spoiler tagging them will make it a lot easier to navigate the thread.

kj1225: Muggles are a veto. Mad science isn't magic. It's a supernatural academy, man.

Felix: Looks ok to me. Fashion is a bit odd of a choice, but not an unacceptable one.

Mr. Divergent: . . . Hooookay, where do we start. First off, the appearance section is a little odd. Black eyes aren't really a color, unless you mean to say his irises are black, which is, uh, unusual. A "colorful" face is also a bit odd; is his face multicolored or something?

Onto the personality. This is basically a mess of contradictions. He's an arrogant dick, but also a ladies man. Except he doesn't like them, but they like him regardless of how much of an ass he is? He's cold, but easily flustered, and nice to people. I can't really get an image of the way this guy acts at all.

Backstory is also strange and contradictory. His parents wanted to live a mundane life but also surrounded their kid with all sorts of magical tutors but also didn't ever let him do anything until he. . . asked them nicely? It also highlights him as rather too "special" and comes off as Sue-ish. (There are pinned topics about what Mary Sues are.)

My final advice: pick a direction with the character. Start with one or two basic ideas of what you want to do, and build around those. Right now, you're all over the place with the character, and it comes off as really incoherent.

IntSys: Looks alright. Backstory is a little much but not egregiously so.

Cronos5010: Looks ok, but I'd honestly rather see a character that isn't sociopathic out of you.

Sl4cker: Backstory justification is slightly weak when it comes to justifying why he's at Aurora. Otherwise looks okay.

Ok, here's my sheet. Did my best.

Spoiler

Name: Exorcia Miranda

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Species: Human Inquisitor

Appearance: She has long brown-black hair, brownish eyes, with headphones around her neck. However, there are times when she will listen to her headphones. Here's a picture of her:

Atr4Ms9.thumb.jpg.7fc7ba054ac8584f04ef54528d0d60a1.jpg

Kind of like this. But she is medium height wearing the academy's uniform.

Personality: She can be quite shy at times. However, she'll bond closely with people who approach her. Whenever she has to fight, she will remain strong and fight with all her might! Little by little, she starts to talk more the more she's around people. She's also a bit standoffish.

Backstory: Exorcia Miranda was born into a Catholic family. She lived a normal life like everybody else: going to school, having friends etc. However, her family had a dark secret: they used dark magic. She would do a lot of church work where she would serve food to the homeless, sing in the quire, and help people. She was very caring and wanted to give back to the people who helped her when she was bullied. Her parents did their best to take care of her, but they didn't really understand her. She was living out a normal life until one day, a evil spirit attacked and her dark magic awakened. Her parents know dark magic, but they saw that hers have awakened. That is when they decide to enroll her at Aurora. They heard about Aurora from family friends and thought that maybe by going there, her dark magic can be controlled. They were always worried about her even though they didn't talk to her about it directly. (btw side note, the jutus and all of that are taken from Bleach and Naruto, but she'll also use her own stuff, so yeah ;) )

Let me know what you think of this. Like I said, I haven't done much role-play, so sorry if I'm bad :(

Here's a character; I'm a geography nerd.

Name: Chloe Kauai

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Species: Location Spirit (of Kauai County, HI)
Appearance: Chloe Kauai isn't, physically, an exceptionally large girl: she stands at 5'4", and her build is pretty slim, a stature that befits the spirit of a couple small islands. She looks human, has white skin, and her hair is a sandy brown color -- in fact, it's the exact same color as the sand one would expect to find on a beach, her straight hair falling down to her shoulders. Her eyes are a vividly deep blue in color, and sometimes almost seem to be shifting, like the Pacific Ocean that surrounds Hawaii for miles upon miles. Her outfit is a bit varied -- but one thing for sure is that she really likes the colors green and purple, and these two colors show up a lot in the shirts and shorts she tends to wear. And she does wear short-sleeved shirts and shorts most of the time, the spirit being woefully unprepared for cold weather.

Personality: Perhaps the most immediately obvious facets of Chloe's personality are her energy, her naïvete, and her curiosity: Given that this is Chloe's first time outside of her home county, everything around her is new, and since she's a cheerful person in the first place, this means that Chloe's vivacious desire to learn about the things around her is pretty prominent. Chloe's talkative, especially if the topic of Hawai'i should for some reason ever come up, at which point she'll probably hijack the conversation to her encyclopedic knowledge of the county she's the spirit of. Chloe is a kind person, and should someone ever be at her hospitality, she will do her best to be welcoming and pleasing.

Chloe isn't perfect, though. Her sheltered upbringing means that she just doesn't understand some of what goes on around her, and Chloe... isn't a particularly brave person. Her typical method of conflict resolution is getting out of dodge as fast as possible.

Backstory: It's a well known fact that there are spirits of things like rivers and mountains. What's not quite as well known in addition to spirits of natural areas, spirits can exist embodying political boundaries as well - spirits of nations, or of states, or of cities... and since these spirits are actually (relatively) plentiful, this even extends to things like counties, though the power of a spirit is tied to the importance of its location. This extends to Kauai County, an American county in Hawaii created a few years after its conquest by the United States. The status of such American spirits in Hawaii can be... problematic. Hawaiian mythological figures still reside in the more remote parts of the islands, and though they don't bother the humans living there, they don't usually tend to appreciate the incorporation of Hawai'i into the United States -- it may have been a century ago, but these are some very ancient beings. This means there's a tension between more American supernatural beings, and more Polynesian ones, a fact that was thrown into sharp relief in 1998 when Chloe's predecessor went too far in insulting the aggressive Hawaiian god of boars, Kamapua'a, and promptly got herself killed.

Well, when she was killed, the county didn't exactly stop existing, so a successor came to exist, and was found as a small toddler out in the forest on the island of Kaua'i by a mage of the Council of Hawaiian Mages, a group of nine leaders of some of the supernatural and wizard communities around Hawaii, who promptly took her in and started to raise her in order to prevent another unfortunate incident. Throughout her childhood (spent exploring the lands and communities around the county, enjoying its beaches and waters, and being essentially homeschooled in manners mundane and magical by the Council members), a debate was waged around her by the Council. Would it be better to keep her incognito in the county so as to prevent any conflicts from arising, or should they take the fact that she's a relatively weak spirit of contemporary origin and therefore rather nonthreatening and try to introduce her to the world. As she grew up and the council members started to feel more and more familial to her, the argument also began to focus on whether or not it would be better for her to keep her safe or to show her more of the world and opportunities. Given her predecessor's demise, for a very long time the former side of the argument won, and Chloe stayed in Kauai County. But as Chloe turned 18 and Aurora University's presence became more prominent, and the argument shifted the other way: perhaps she'd be an ideal candidate to reveal to the world, and it seemed like Aurora was a safe way to do this. Naturally curious, Chloe was all too happy to head over.

Extra supernatural bits: As a location spirit, Chloe can't be killed or permanently injured by normal, non-magical means. This isn't to say that she can't get hurt, because she certainly can, but unless something supernatural and harmful is involved, it'll heal up fairly quickly. Chloe knows practically everything about Kauai County, naturally, and quite a bit about Hawaii, but the pre-American history of the islands she only knows thanks to the tutelage of the council. Kauai County is highly tied to water, what with the ocean surrounding it for thousands of miles and with Mount Wai'ale'ale being one of the rainiest spots on earth, and Chloe thusly has simple elemental control over water, including being able to glide on it, though not breathe in it. She can also float, although she rarely ever does. She keeps a pendant of sand collected from her home islands, in order to keep her strength.

I think that was just a joke on kj's part, though I'm not the GM and don't know if your character would be allowed to be armed or not.

Name: Omni
Gender: Demimale
Age: 30 since reactivation, ancient.
Species: Nanobot Swarm

Appearance: A human-shaped transparent slime blob, with a rainbow of colors, dominated by blue. His skin and body are constantly flowing and shifting, giving the illusion of him being made out of soft gel.

Shapes on his head imitate fluffy, shoulder-length hair. He is only 5' by default, but can stretch to pretty ridiculous heights. When not constrained by clothing, his arms and legs are slightly more swollen than a normal human’s, making him anatomically closer to a cartoon character.

Personality: Omni is fairly naive and clueless, if you told him anything he would believe it. He is fairly quiet, but this doesn’t mean that he is shy. In fact, he is pretty friendly and perhaps even slightly overwhelming as he will ask a lot of questions and listen intently to anyone if the topic interested him.

Omni can come across as… alien in his demeanor, sometimes hinting at hidden ancestral memories that he himself couldn’t remember. He can be rather too friendly with people, and does not feel any shame in complimenting someone’s good looks, especially a male’s.

Backstory: Omni was found as a pool of unidentified substance in a mostly burned-out craft that fell onto the planet. The substance became active during testing and devoured anything presented to it. As research on it continued, the goo gradually became more responsive to stimuli and seemed to develop intelligence. As the years went by, the goo’s overall mass and intelligence grew in a gradual curve before beginning to exhibit animal-like intelligence, then the intelligence of a baby’s. It capped out less than two decades ago, with human-like intelligence. Omni develop at roughly the same speed as a human being, faster in some areas, and slower in most. As he grew up, the question of his rights as a sentient being came up. To keep him forever in secure facilities would isolate him from the rest of the world, so he was sent to Aurora to learn like anyone else.

Shaun the Werewolf comes to town...

Spoiler

Name: Shaun Goldsworth

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Species: Werewolf

Appearance: Looks completely normal, with silver and brown eyes. He usually wears normal uniform whenever he is bothered to get out of his pajamas, which is not very often. He's rather tall for his age but is gangly and has no muscles. He always wears a beanie to cover his wolf ears and stuffs his tail inside his pajamas though it sticks out above his collars slightly. He has permanent two dark circles under his eyes, and is always seen shuffling around in slippers or thongs and carrying around a coffee mug. The coffee mug usually has a draught for his lycanthropy or just regular old coffee.

At full moon or when he decides to (though he almost never bothers to), he turns into a giant silver wolf. He retains his consciousness and ability to speak in his wolf form, and usually takes the full moon nights off as an excuse just to get some more sleep.

Personality: Friendly and casual, but mostly drowsing. He is scatter-minded and clumsy, forgetting most of his belongings here and there. In a rare occasion, he can get serious and suddenly enthusiastic about activities, though when the session ends he looks like he desperately needs a nap or two. His usually disposition perks up when he's talking about gaming, but then slowly sinks back into his semi-comatose state. Otherwise, he cares not for anyone's appearance or abilities, as long as they are 'alright blokes'.

Backstory: Shaun was born a werewolf and was part of a large clan called the Silverfangs. As a very mild-mannered and neutral boy, Shaun wanted nothing to do with the frequent clashes between clans and stayed mostly out of the conflicts. As such, he was mostly shunned away from his own kin and didn't manage to make too many human friends either, for Silverfangs forbade relationships between humans and werewolves. In order to escape involvement in the battles altogether, he decided to simply run to a place where he knew his clan wouldn't dare set foot upon - the Aurora Academy.

"There are motions I would like to show you."

Spoiler

Name: Idunn Thormundsdottir
Gender: F
Age: 18
Species: Valkyrie
Appearance: Idunn is quite tall, standing around 6'10", with a very clearly athletic build and rather tanned skin. She is clearly quite large, most of her mass being muscle; indeed, Idunn is clearly toned, with her muscles quite toned. Idunn has long, wavy blonde hair, let loose behind her head, which she takes meticulous care of; indeed, it never quite seems to get dirty. Her clear blue eyes complement her hair, which is combed out of the way to keep her eyes free. Her face is usually unadorned with makeup; she finds such adornment rather useless. Her attire consists of large, bespoke white shirts and black jeans, with large black coats which she refuses to wear properly but instead wears over her shoulders with the collars chained together to keep it on her, leaving the sleeves to flap, completely empty; an affectation taken from various TV shows she watched.

Personality: Idunn is quite strong-willed and boisterous, living how she pleases and encouraging others to live the dream with her; she flirts with who she pleases, talks with who she pleases and does what she pleases, although she has long learned what the limits to that particular thing was. The young Valkyrie throws herself into everything with gusto, vibrant and hearty. She is honest to a fault, being rather blunt sometimes, but she means well, and will just as hastily make up for whatever she does wrong. Idunn also loathes those who are dishonest and those who bully others; indeed, she has gotten in trouble many times for roughing up bullies herself. She is almost motherly in her desire to help others out, even if it is in her weird way, and will do her best to guide others around.

Backstory: In times of old, the realm of Folkvangr was the home of the goddess Freyja, home to half of those who die in battle. Home to Sessrumnir, the Hall of Freyja's dead, Folkvangr was staffed by the Valkyries, the Ravens of Freyja, who plucked those worthy of Folkvangr from the fields of battle, who fought and trained the spirits of warriors and who hunted in the fields of the nine realms in preparation for Ragnarok. Indeed, Folkvangr was a great realm, abundant with food, arms and mead the envy of all save Valhalla.  When it eventually became clear that Ragnarok would not come- mostly because it had transpired that the Great Wolf Fenrir had long been freed and his place taken by the trickster Coyote and therefore the prophecy was rendered moot, Folkvangr's glory slowly faded, as the Valkyries, without purpose, went away to greener pastures. Few remained by the side of their goddess, and some who remained paired with the Vanir, founding families of their own now that the threat of Ragnarok was long past.

Idunn is the daughter of the Valkyrie Sigrun- not to be confused with the Sigrun of old, though she is related- and the Vanir Thormund. Her father had always been enamoured with humanity, rather intrigued with human trinkets and had, at one point, brought fireworks to Folkvangr with rather fiery results. It was in the aftermath of cleaning up the fireworks- and Thormund's face- that Sigrun met her future husband. It was a rather interesting- and by interesting, we mean comedic and a little adorable- romance, worthy itself of a story in some sort of anime, but they eventually got married and within a year, were with child. Eventually, despite their lives being decent in Folkvangr, Sigrun realised that their child could not be raised here, in a land that had stagnated with its purpose lost. And so it was at a young age that Idunn was taken by her parents from Folkvangr to Midgard- what we call Earth, and Thormund and Sigrun masquerading as a mortal family. Sigrun still worked as a psychopomp for Freyja on the side- an occupation that Idunn had occasionally seen- while Thormund took up a job as a merchant of weird curios; not difficult, considering the massive collection of odd curios he'd collected and the odd curios he still collected.

Of course, Idunn found it hard to adapt to Midgardian society from Folkvangr. She got into trouble often; usually because most Midgardian children tended to be far weaker than the daughter of a Valkyrie and a Vanir and she tended to accidentally injure them. In high school, she grew a tendency for being an excellent sportsperson as well as the sort of person who went around beating up bullies; her high schools were often calling her exasperated parents after the parents of the bullies she victimised demanded to know why their seemingly innocent children were going home beaten to pulps. Of course, having had experience with both the supernatural and the mundane, Idunn yearned for at least a taste of the world she had left. After years of having to live in the mortal world with very little interaction with the supernatural, Thormund and Sigrun decided that their daughter ought to meet those of similar origin, and as soon as she graduated, Idunn was enrolled into Aurora, in order that she may finally have interaction with beings like herself.

Extra Supernatural Notes: As a Valkyrie, Idunn possesses innate knowledge of martial arts and weaponcraft, along with strength and reflexes beyond most humans and supernatural beings alike. Permanent injury is incredibly difficult to inflict upon Idunn, in part due to her ability to regenerate from damage, a boon of Thormund, her father and a Vanir associated with healing, and most means of injuring her barely faze her at all. Idunn can also perceive and interact with spirits of the dead to the extent of being able to physically harm them, a requisite of the duty of the Valkyries to fight with and give drinks to the Einherjar who once lived in Folkvangr. She possesses an aptitude for runic magic due to her Vanir blood, in particular for clairvoyance and healing, but she was neither taught how to use the magic of runes nor cares to learn.
