Imagine if Nintendo and TPC actually cares for their long time fans and instead of taking it down, they suddenly decided to support the fan game community and their projects. That’s wild.

@Youmu9 Not supporting them and ignoring them is fine and good, but pulling a C&D to games like Uranium and Prism, also to Pokemon Essentials itself? That’s some bullcrap.
Like you said, they aren’t going to be affected at any way with this type of things. So why hinder or stop creativity? Why stop something that’s not even getting any form of profit but solely for dedication and love for the franchise?
I get the whole “they must protect the brand name” and all of the factors that come with that being their market is directed to children. But really, there’s literally no reason to do that if they don’t get affected whatsoever. Even Sega is encouraging developers to make fan games of Sonic.
It’s just blatant selfishness.

I'm basicaly repeating second/third hand info but basically the leader board of nintendo(don't know about game freak/The Pokemon Company) are really old fashioned and this kind of thinking is not their style. And I think most business men don't quite buy that fangames are basicaly the same as fanfictions and not a concurrent game(the existence of donation is also a factor)
Although they don't seem to actconsistently: they did took down essentials, uranium and the likes but don't seem to actively hunt down fangames(I mean a simple google search gives you the name of the most popular fangames so it would not be that hard). It might be that they just want to set an example/not tarnish much ther image
