@baldr I used to play Warhammer Fantasy with a group of 10 people over the course of 3 years on the same campaign 10 years ago, but haven't touched anything pen-and-paper related since then. There's this huge role-playing convention near where I live that lasts 5 days once a year where people come to roleplay that I've been meaning to go to for years now, but due to clashing with the time of my exams I've never been able to... And I either play with a friend of mine, or I'm part of a larger board game group. Though it rotates members quite often, so while 6-7 core members are there at every meetup, another 10 or so vary from time to time. So I don't really have a "stable" board game group.

This is an interesting recommendation. From everywhere I've read, and talked to people have disliked the movie immensely. What parts of the movie did you like, and what makes you recommend this movie above all else?

@baldr You seem to have played many more games than I. I only get to play around 1 board game a month, and typically it's relegated to the 20 ones I own, so I rarely try games outside of my comfort zone. Because of this I've never actually had the option to play very many Euro Games like the ones you mentioned. Catan, Five Tribes, 7 Wonders Duel and Race For The Galaxy being the only ones I've played. So far my favorite board games I've played are: - Eldritch Horror (I've played this one at least 20 times) and will continue to play it for many years to come. - Mage Knight: A perfect information adventure game incorporating deck building elements. Probably the most well-designed board game I've played. - Twilight Struggle: A wargame for two players, with deep mechanics and a satisfying gameplay. Among other games I've liked are "Traitor games" like Avalon, Ultimate Werewolf, Battlestar Galactica and Dead of Winter which is a genre I'm quite fond of. Who do you primarily play with, Baldr?

Hmm, I think my original intention with the question didn't come across as clearly as I'd have liked. In, essence it was about sacrificing oneself, not specifically referring to suicide, but rather by committing yourself wholeheartedly to a specific cause or forcing yourself to take specific actions which you don't particularly want to do. The question is thus, if such a path existed, whereby walking it you could with a 100% certainty better mankind on a macroscopic scale, would it be immoral to refuse to walk it. An example could be, say we have Albert Einstein for some reason wants to become an art student in his youth. He has an incredible capacity to the sciences and is a genius that will revolutionise the whole field of physics if he commits to it. But say he found physics terribly boring and felt that the arts were his calling in life. Would it be immoral to follow the path in life that gave him satisfaction rather than take the path that would benefit the world? When applied to the individual: Between doing something one finds unenjoyable that is of great benefit to the world, and something one finds fun but has no inherent value to anyone, which path is correct. And where do people get such thoughts from? From the accessory part of the cerebrum of course! Now were the question "why" people get such thoughts, I'd say it's because people are uncertain about how to chose their paths in life and want to exchange ideas with others so as to gain a fuller picture of the world, and for this hypothetical scenarios are useful. I'll pose the same question as last time, as explained in the first section.

That's a great idea, though they do this with games already. Games are organized in plastic bags, though I supose they don't use tackle boxes because it would be to difficult to find tackle boxes in the right dimensions for every single board game. The main thing that makes this difficult is, say a plastic bag has a bunch of cards in it, they have to count those out by hand... Which can grow tedious is a game has hundreds of cards.

No, because to save one life I'd have to ruin two, the one I kill and my own. Even if I had to kill one person to save 10 or even 100 I'd refuse because murder is morally wrong no matter the situation. Yes, it's a fun experience and a good excuse to hang out with people. Though I must confess I dislike larger cinemas with too many seats as I feel it gets too stuffy. I much prefer smaller local cinemas. If given the option to alter your genome in such a way to make yourself stronger, smarter, give yourself dashing good lucks and immunity to all diseases, at the cost of having your skin turn purple, would you take it?

@KosherKitten So, I was in my local library today to get a few Board Games I ordered (apparently you can loan board games too...) and I started talking about one of the librarians, who confirmed that they check the condition of materials returned like you suspected. And apparently, this is true for board games too, where they have to make sure that every single part/piece is returned... Which must be a nightmare since they have to count every card, tile and cube by hand. And considering a light board game typically has at least 100 components, and larger ones can easily have 500<, I can feel bad for librarians having to do this.

So, Zumi inspired me to try and draw something hooray for bad life decisions in the Rejuvenation fanart thread, and while sketching before realising that said thread was for Reju and not Reborn... At which point I was too far into this sketch to restart and do a Reju character instead. Anyway *welp* here it is, drawing is apparently way more difficult than it looks, and trying to actually do decent textures and lining is tedious... And don't get me started on drawing eyes, how do you guys do it? If anything this endeavour has taught me to appreciate all the hard work going into the wonderful pieces in this thread.

No, I mostly write notes or any thoughts I may have on my computer or phone when I go out. How do you feel about the fact that the national dish of The United Kingdom is curry, something that didn't originate nor has any roots in the country?

Again, I feel like any medium can be used to tackle any sorts of themes and topics if used correctly. Even Pokémon can be used to teach heavy-handed themes. Those particular issues you mentioned have been a criticized for being tackled poorly across everything from film to books, and what may be the biggest thing preventing them from being discussed more openly is that it's not really a topic most people know enough about to discuss it, much less write about it. Secondly, it's not something most people want to read/play through in a medium they want to use as recreation. But that isn't to say Pokémon can't be used to discuss such themes, perhaps not directly but through Aesop and analogy, it may be possible. In the end, any medium can be used to tackle any given theme, it's just a question if the creator is good enough at using the medium to discuss the theme properly. But I do agree with the fact that, I'd rather not want to see themes of sexuality in Pokémon games due to how likely the chance of the writer of the games handling those poorly, and having said themes drag down what would otherwise perhaps have been a good game.

@Tempest That set-up is incredible, good job putting it together. I'm loving the sleek black finish on the table, and how organised it all is. 4 computers, 2 consoles and a TV may be a bit excessive, but it's quite impressive how up to date everything is. May I ask how often your buy new gear, everything seems very new. On that note, do you ever have problems making space for work materials on your desk? it seems kinda small, and has little space to move the keyboard aside.

How do said games compare to Reborn? So far the only fangames I've played are Reborn, Rejuvenation and Light Platinum. The later two of which were incredibly disappointing after experiencing the depth of the characters, world-building and story in Reborn.

For anyone who plays and or has finished the game. I have a few questions. - How worthwhile did you think it was to play through this game as a standalone experience when compared to regular FE games? - How long did it take to get through the campaign, and how much of said time was used doing grinding and or stuff that didn't progress the story? - How is the buisness model, and can one get through the game without paying money within a reasonable timeframe? (ie. how necessary is it to spend money to have fun in the game)

@doombotmecha Which means that you have to play how long to get a character? And am I understanding correctly that all character gains are now random? If it is, that seems like a bad move on Blizzards part. It's going to be difficult to beat Paladins acquisition rate which is around 1-2 hours per character (I have every single one available after 20 hours of play :O), or something like Duelyst which is 10 hours for a top tier deck. Still, I do find the game fun enough to play a game every few months. I just don't know what it would take for me to play it regularly (outside of having too much time on my hands)

I don't own a PS4, but if it ever comes to PC, I'll consider getting it. Hopefully it's better than Persona 4, which I found to be a bit long winded. Do you continue to struggle and fight, even if you know that a situation is hopeless, and struggling will only prolong the inevitable?

So, I took this one a while back, and both this time and that, I got ISTJ-A. Still, I'm uncertain as to the value of such types of tests, as they seem very broad and don't actually describe a person's actual personality, but rather some major traits, don't seem to useful when describing individuals. Though I can definitely see why such tests are appealing to so many.

What level of quality are we talking about here? To me, Reborn is top tier and unsurpassed among all Fan-games. But at the same time I disliked Light Platinum for it's lacklustre story and repetitive gameplay, but you seemed to enjoy it, which may indicate that you and I search for different things in games. In either case, the top 3 Pokémon fangames are pretty widely considered to be Pokémon Reborn, Rejuvenation and Insurgence, so if you liked Reborn, you'll probably enjoy those other two.

I do think that you've made Reborn into a better place since your arrival and given rise to many fun antics and threads, so at least from what you told, I think you've succeeded in partially accomplishing your goals.
