Hey I just reached the part where you have to fight Saki and Venam in a double battle. Is there a way to battle them by yourself and not be dragged down by Melia? I think I heard that it was an option in one of the earlier versions. I'd rather not wipe because every one of Melia's team (except Zoroark) is weak to Steel and Poison, leaving me to beat them 1v2. Is there still a chance for that or was it axed completely?

Soooo just a quick update. Version 9 has changed a lot of the early game areas which I've already gone through in this Nuzlocke and apparently some story elements have changed as well. For example I've apparently met a certain person before in this version when I know I haven't in the Nuzlocke run. I've was thinking about restarting this run when I heard the news but ultimately I decided not to. Mainly because of Rose. Because I'm never going to get a jackpot starter in one try again So I'll probably dedicate a chapter or two to reestablishing what happened in the story when the time comes. Anyway thanks for reading, there'll be a new chapter either today or tomorrow

First there's a random number between 1-19, where the first 18 correspond to the normal starters and if it lands on 19 it generates another random number between 1-50, where one of those numbers corresponds to ralts another to axew, and if it's any other number it will reroll the entire process from the beginning. Run the math on that and you'll get that there's a 1/902 chance of getting one of Axew/Ralts in particular, or a 1/451 of getting either one of the two. Presumably with Eevee included this will be changed to 1/903 and 1/301 respectively, assuming the second RNG is still between 1-50. Those are the odds of getting a jackpot starter in this game iirc. So basically I got Silver Chariot Requiem from part 5? Not bad.
