  1. Ah, nothing like the art of oscilating between deep discussion and meaningless banter. [09:36:41] ~AmethystBlack: I'll probably look more into that then. [09:37:50] Kurotsune: Please do! [09:38:13] Kurotsune: I'm actually looking into hinduist meditation, but if you were to look into the buddhist side we could discuss them and it'd be a very interesting experience, I feel. [09:39:14] ~AmethystBlack: I'm down. [09:46:00] Kurotsune: OH GOD [09:46:02] Kurotsune: NO [09:46:04] Kurotsune: STAY WITH ME [09:46:07] Kurotsune: DON'T GO DOWN AME [09:46:10] Kurotsune: YOU MUST STAY STRONG [09:46:11] Kurotsune: also breb [09:46:49] ~AmethystBlack: I'm so far down [09:46:53] ~AmethystBlack: I'm drownninnnnnnng
  2. As mentioned, the way the battles will work will be explained in the tourney itself. And no, sorry. The reason these tours are always on the first weekend of the month is because that`s the only time I can do them. That's fine.
  3. I'm not offended. You presented a reasonable point and I elaborated on it. That said, pure types don't fit the trio criteria. A fighting type isn't fighting/fighting, they're just fighting, so they can't be used in that fashion.
  4. The thought process coming up with that rule was the following: a) just use any secondary typing you wish -> kills the entire purpose of the tour b) be forced to have triangular weaknesses with the same direction as the primary -> Is less interesting as a rule and there's a lot of really powerful combinations there (diancie, salamence and megasaur, for example) that are fairly no-brainers and easy to think of. c) -//- inversed -> Thus the most logical choice
  5. (( Quick disclaimer. As mentioned in this post, I have indeed left the community due to health issues. However, since these tours have been a joy to make and take a minimum amount of effort in my part, I'd like to keep them going, and mayhaps do more in the future. )) First and foremost, congratulations to the winner of the previous tourney, DestructoSkitty! (Destructo sounds cooler than Destructive, so that's your new name) Skitty's team of californian girls bested the competition, securing their victory and making their opponents fall to their knees against the sheer gloriousness that they are. That said, we must move onto the next challenge, and this time, the tour is The Terrible Trifecta! To it's winner, goes the prize of the Tantalizing, Terrifying, Tyran- Hydreigon! What, you thought I was going to say Tyranitar? That's not a dragon, silly! But since you insist... The triple trifecta, like the Double Dragon tourney, will have two prizes! And one twist, coming right up! This tour will not be fought by one person, but by pairs! Each trainer will have their own trifecta, and at the start of the tourney, they will each be randomly assigned a partner! The trainers must then put their triple teams together to tackle the tourney and take home their prize! There's one small detail, though: Each triple team has to be in a type-weakness triangle! In other words, each pokémon has to be weak to one of it's teammates, and strong against the other! "But what about double types, Kuro?" You ask, realizing soon afterwards you should've learned not to ask those things by now. Well, my dearest, if you want to use double-types, then //all// your pokémon must be double types, with inversed weaknesses! In other words, while you could have one Flying, one Fighting and one Rock type team, if you want to use dual types they'd have to be Fire/Flying, Water/Fighting, Grass/Rock! Also, keep in mind "solo" types won't be allowed - No dragon/dragon/dragon or ghost/ghost/ghost. Come on, people! Be creative! Rules regarding how the prizes will be distributed and how the matches will be executed will be clarified during the actual tourney. If you want a handy chart in type triangles, you can use the following: http://i.imgur.com/7xPBzeg.png However, keep in mind this chart is outdated. Triangles like Fairy/Steel/Fighting aren't listed there, so if anyone has or is willing to make an updated version, please let me know. Also remember the solo triangles are not allowed! (Also, Psychic/Bug/Poison one is defunct so it doesn't count either) This tour will take place on November 1st, at 4pm EST as always! The same rules to prior dragon tourneaments apply.
  6. You melt my frozen heart. As always, I am alongside Hukuna in his words, and I add to them this: The burden falls on the host. If the writer is bad, I won't create or follow rules to enjoy the book. If the game is bad, I won't create or follow rules to play the game. If the movie is bad, I won't create or follow rules to watch the movie. In all these cases, I'll simply walk away. This is always going to come back to the host and their writing. Creating games around player interaction won't fix that. Creating rules won't fix that. If anything, those will kill the forum faster. Find out why people aren't playing, talk to them one-on-one, approach them in private, offer to teach and review what they write - A good number of people in this forum know I've done this constantly to try and improve some of the quality in some member's posts. But ultimately, adapt and evolve. Don't try to change the audience to fit your views, change your views to fit your audience.
  7. My personal opinion is as simple as: Y'all are creating a lot of rules and taking the "game" aspect out of it. Let people play how they want to play, lest this stops being a game and becomes a chore. If this forum can't maintain itself while staying true to the idea of having fun above all, then let it perish. It happens.
  8. I probably should've written this sometime last week, but time was short. After Amethyst's problems started showing up, I started heading both Animation and Development teams as she recovered. During that time, my own health issues came into play, and quickly began worsening to a point where it was no longer feasible for me to dedicate as large amounts of time to this project as I have in the past. So I decided that rather than become a crutch to the development team, I'd leave as soon as Amethyst was well enough to make her return. That happened sometime last week. This is also the reason for my recent absence, as well why all my future appearances be it on the forums or the showdown community will be sporadic at best. As I wait to see how this situation develops I have not much of an idea of when I will be able to return to my prior activities, if ever, and thus the amount of information I can share on the subject is limited. While I cannot make promises, I've full trust in the current members of the development team to make sure they will be able to implement all systems I wanted to eventually, and making sure the game's code remains up to par. Thank you all for your time.
  9. Nope! Hoopa-unbound isn't cute at all.
  10. Answer a question of the day. Hey, I guess dreams DO come true!
  11. Edited the main post as someone pointed out I had failed to state the tour tier!
  12. "I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy. Because they know what it's like to feel absolutely worthless and they don't want anybody else to feel like that" ~ Robin Williams. Posting this here because someone has recently reminded me of the sad reality of it.

      Raindrop Valkyrie

Trust me... not a single person in the world should feel that way. I'm lucky I'm even typing this... having and still struggling with that stuff. Trust me... no one should feel that darkness... it's crippling.

I was in that place, once. It's not a fun place to be, and I still fear I might end up back there. But if I make someone laugh, my day always feels brighter.

This quote gets me more than I'd like to admit.

  13. Well, the only thing I'd say to keep in mind here is that this wouldn't be a new reborn league. Literally the only two ways a "new reborn league" can occur is if either it's creator decided to, or gave the permission for someone else to do it. If I recall correctly, I've seen Amethyst state she doesn't have the intention to do either. Somewhat of a nitpicky post, but I just feel like it's important to make this clear; If you want to make your own league that's fine, and certainly no one would shut it down, but don't make it under the assumption or concept that it's the "new reborn league"; It'd be it's own beast, completely separate from Reborn and not really related to it in any way.
  14. Any theme is acceptable, the point is execution. Though creativity will be rated. You're almost certain not to win since the battle portion is worth just as many points as the team portion, but you can try. Amethyst legitimately finds those pokémon cute. She's insane. And again, any theme is viable. Though you run the risk of the judges not knowing the source material which would probably hinder the effort.
  15. So, I've recently started playing a game called Skyforge. Skyforge is one of the newer releases in the recently popular Action-MMORPG genre, and so far it's pretty cool. Instead explaining the game in details, below is a conversation between me and Arkhidon where I describe what I found as the most exciting features of the game when I first played it. If you are interested in playing, I'm currently playing in North America, just post your name or send me a PM and we can meet up. Website: http://sf.my.com/us PS: Not all videos below contain good opinions or good impressions all the time, but I've added them nonetheless for the sake of being fair. Gameplay videos: Conversation with Arkhidon:
  16. Shaymin-sky is uber, Shaymin is "eh"
  17. All of them. Unless it's otherwise impossible. But since everything here is basically worth points, the more related to the theme everything is, the more points you'll get.
  18. As always, the tour will be OU, so no ubers will be allowed. Megas are fine as long as they're in keeping with your theme.
  19. We'll get to that in a minute. First and foremost congratulations to the winner of the double dragons tourney, Vlado Vladmir! I promise you'll get your pokémon sometime this century. Now onto better things. The theme of the next tour is pretty pokémon! Or, specifically, the pokémon me and Amethyst find pretty. Here's the list of acceptable pokémon: Amethyst's gemstones Kurotsune's lovelies How is this going to work? Well, this tourney will be divided in two stages: First stage, the walkway: Each team will be scrutinized by the judges, and rated with grades through 1 to 10. T This criteria will work as it follows: 1-> Every team must have a theme, and this theme has to be the guiding choice behind every pokémon choice and every move chosen. I.E. if you're picking a theme of "dancers", there better be some dance moves in there! 2-> Every team must be composed solely of pokémon from either list. You don't have to pick just from one list, you can have any pokémon in either. 3-> Every pokémon must be named! The names might follow the theme, a theme of their own, or no theme at all, I just wanna see some creative naming here. (All forum rules apply. If you name a pokémon "dickbutt" you're immediately disqualified. Please, try me.) The second stage is the simpler one - The battle stage! After all, what's the use of a pretty pokémon if it can't fight? The battle portion will be more straightforward. "But Kuro!" You cry out, "there's clearly unbalanced choices in that list!" yep, there most certainly are. Good luck trying to fit them all in the same theme, though, and good luck convincing the judges the theme will be good if you do so. Just picking the strongest choices here isn't the way to go; It's picking the mons you like and making them fit a theme and working around those constraints. Each stage will be worth 50 points. Everyone can get the maximum of 50 points in the first stage, but only one person will get the 50 points in the second stage (the second will get 40, the third 30, the fourth 20 and the fifth place 10, though additional battles may be necessary to determine these positions) Whoever gets the most points is the winner. Should there be a tie, the winner will be decided by the judges based on overall performances. EDIT: Oh right The tour will be october 4th at 4PM EST, and the prize will be Salamence. The general rules apply - The tour will be OU, so no ubers allowed! I also really want to see some unconventional choices, so keep that in mind when choosing your mons. If you just cherry pick from the OU tier, odds are I won't like it.
  20. God damn it I'm torn between a few of those
  21. Gizmo, Leon, Leonis The huntress sighs. "Let's start from the top then..." She motions to the floor around her, and Raphael takes a seat. "About two days ago, a creature came to this town. Interestingly enough, it had the ability to kill fae." Her tone is stern as she speaks, and you'd notice Raphael's eyes widening slightly below his hood. "You mean actually kill a fae?"The general asks, the woman simply nodding in response. "Yes. The ones who were attacked turned into stone and we couldn't feel their souls returning to the Cycle. They simply... Ceased." "I see," The general is pensive as he answers. "Prithee, then. Did the people who fought off this monster return? Are they still after it?" The huntress shrugs. "I wouldn't know. They might be dead. I can only point you the way they went." Raphael nods, and the woman gestures further down into the forest. "There, then." The general stands up, effortlessly picking Gizmo off the ground, then gestures towards the other two. "Come. We're investigating this." Jewel, Seyr, Jem'es The arrow flies narrowingly past the Fairy and her construct, but the creature effortlessly grabs it before it can connect. This is no mindless beast. It hisses. A loud, sharp hiss with gurgling sounds that seem like the creature's flesh is ripping itself apart by it's attempts to produce sound. This is accentuated by the creature's erratic expressions, bending it's face as if contorting it in pain. Once the sound subsides, the creature's labored breathing can be heard. It glances first to the centaur, then to the wyvern upon the skies. In something that feels like a split second, the creature lunges upwards, shooting itself into the sky, getting face to face to the creature. This wasn't simply strength; Time was stopped. This was chronomancy. Before the wyvern could move again, from the monster's nostrils spewed forth four gushes of bright silvery flame that hit the wyvern directly in it's snout; When time returned to normal, Seyr goes reeling back, but is able to maintain his altitude. The creature, however, falls down towards the ground... This could be an opening to attack, but this thing has just used two different schools of human magic at once; It quickly becomes clear that caution is required. Levaline Boring, boring, boring. It was a week since you came to Mirthwood, seeking some sort of adventure at the request of your guild. You protected some dignitaries, you helped some merchants cross the border, and you've considered killing yourself probably about three hundred and fifty four times, just today. When the creature lunged towards the fae, and the humanoid one took the form of a wyvern, you were obviously surprised. Yet, this could mean opportunity. Despite the creature's strengths, you had a tradition of dwarven prowess behind your back. And even if you don't fancy yourself a bard, you certainly know a good story when you see one. And this might just be the kind of good story you'd want to participate in.
  22. No. Because emotion implies personality; As I've said before. A character responds agressively? Maybe one character wouldn't; Maybe they'd respond calmly. Maybe they're not bothered by Fern. Maybe their pride is not so low to be hurt by grovelling if it means saving their lives, or maybe it's just low enough. Either way, adding emotion to a response implies an emotional response. Emotional responses are subjective.
