8.5/10. I can't pinpoint why, but your avatar resonates with me.

Guh, ignorant hatred pisses me off. It's what ISIS wants. If the western world rejects and discriminates against Muslims because of extremist asshats, it raises the risk of more of them feeling rejected by the world, and that increases their chance of ending up in a group like ISIS. They are a tiny minority who are out of control because they use brutal tactics and exploit fear.

Fixing it up (A Pokemon Reborn Hardcore Playthrough)
Personthing replied to Commander's topic in Team Showcase
Oh cool, glad to see that the new update is out. I've been playing through Reborn hardcore to kill time before Super Mystery Dungeon's launch, so this update will be a treat. -
Well... I'd love a return to tittle option
Personthing replied to tinyranitar's topic in Reborn City
The F12 key does that. -
Let's check all the terrain boosts the Mudkip line can take advantage of: Corrosive field boosts mudshot and muddy water (which it won't have by the time you face Corey, but can be used later if you give it Sludge Wave in the grassy field). Muddy Water also gets boosts from the broken factory (which Swampert can't create on it's own until it gets Earthquake), Kiki's field and the Swamp Field. So that's pretty good. Too bad those field effects aren't around the whole game, and the rest of the game Swampert has to rely on it's mediocre special attack without any sort of assistance from the field effects. Oh, speaking of the early game, Mudkip can barely contribute in a few fights such as Florinia, against the Pulse Tangrowths, and correct me if I'm wrong, I believe a fair few of Shelly's Pokemon are packing Giga Drain as well. Azumarill completely outclasses the Mudkip line due to a good physical movepool (It gets Aqua Tail at level 21 and Play Rough at level 25, holy crap) and Huge Power. It does suffer the same speed issues though. The Oshawott line is good due to an early Razor Shell, Water Pulse (It's good both specially and physically), Fury Cutter, Revenge, Aqua Jet, and although you'll be passed Yureyu it gets Swords Dance as well. By the way, have I ever said the Mudkip line is horrible? (If I have, then you can hold that over me) I just believe it has enough going against it to limit it to the B-tier, but enough going for it to not make it any lower. Hell, it's my third favorite Pokemon line of all time (only behind the Cyndaquil and Totodile lines), but it's flaws are pretty glaring even with it's strengths.

I don't care for X-items in the slightest and I don't use them, but to completely ignore a resource that the players have easy access to is silly. Like, I don't believe they should even have a major effect on tiering, but if a Pokemon becomes a god tier sweeper after just 1 X-speed (Any more, and that's too much needed to be considered useful), then that's a bit too much to completely ignore and should factor in somewhat. (Like if we were rating a Pokemon out of 10, maybe a 1 point boost) On Mudkip, simply put, it doesn't deserve A-tier. You've said it yourself, it has a mediocre special attack, is extremely slow, and it's movepool is primarily special until it gets Earthquake at level 51. In that time, other Pokemon, including other water types, outperform it easily. It's saving grace is that it becomes quite solid after it gets Earthquake, and Rock Slide provides decent coverage. It's typing is also good, and I do believe that it has enough going for it that it should be somewhere in the B-tier.
-
Certain Pokemon make much better and more efficient use of these resources, you'll get much better and more efficient results by giving one X-speed to a Diggersby then spamming X-items on an Unfeazant, for example. While I don't think how much a Pokemon benefits from an X-item should be a major part of their ranking, if a Pokemon gets massive returns for the use of 1 X-item (more than 1 is inefficient), it should be considered somewhat. It's a resource very easily available to the player, so it can't be completely ignored. EDIT: To be more clear, of course I believe prioritising a Pokemon's natural ability. But if they get a massive payoff from just 1 use of an X-item, I believe that it's too much to be completely ignored and has to be factored somewhat.

Lillipup/Herdier/Stoutland Tier: B+ Availability: 1 badge Abilities: Intimidate, Sand Rush, Scrappy Movepool: Pretty good Comments: The Lillipup line can be a very solid crutch throughout the early and mid game, and while it loses a bit of steam in the late game, it's still perfectly usable. It starts with Take Down, and gets Crunch at level 24 which means on top of having good offences and early evolutions (Evolves into Herdier at level 16, and Stoutland at level 32), the Lillipup line has access to powerful moves much earlier than many other Pokemon you get at a similar point in the game. When fully evolved at level 32 it has a very high attack stat (Base 110), and pretty good stats all around (85 HP, 90 Defence and Special Defence, and 80 Speed). At level 63 it gets Play Rough, and once you get to the move tutor it can get all of the elemental fangs for coverage. It also gets STAB Strength. It also has a great ability in Intimidate which lets it manage physical threats with ease, and while Scrappy is usually a good ability, it's a bit less useful as Stoutland gets Crunch. These are the reasons why I believe the Lillipup line belongs in the B+ tier. why not? A pokemon should be judged by it's ability to use all of the resources available to the player, and not merely judged in a vacuum.

May as well do shorter ranking after my long Typhlosion argument. Pancham/Pangoro Ranking: D Availability: 1 badge Abilities: Mold Breaker (Useless in game), Scrappy, and Iron Fist. Movepool: Mediocre Comments: Pangoro is slow, has ok bulk, and hits hard. On top of being slow, Pangoro's early movepool is horrid, and aside from body slam it's most notable move before getting Hammer Arm via move tutor is Crunch, which it gets at level 42... Pangoro has 3 abilities, and it can make good use of Scrappy early on, but as the game progresses Iron Fist becomes the better of it's abilities. Once it gets some decent moves, it's speed is still crippling, and weaknesses to Fairy, Fighting, and Flying don't help it in the slightest. It has a pretty good offensive STAB typing though. Despite my bias for the thing (I used it for the whole game on my most recent run, and I had to break my rule of no EV training to make it's speed not such a crippling issue), I can fully say Pangoro blows and I do not recommend it for long term use. Outclassed by basically every fighting type. I'm assuming if the tier list was separated the tier list, the Pokemon would still retain their rank on how the match up with the rest of the game, correct? I'm behind this. (The current format should also be kept as it's easier to just check and see where each Pokemon stands) And jeez, 5 hours and 59 minutes? I can't even fathom going through Reborn fast enough to get that time.
-
Oh a +Speed -any stat that isn't special attack (-attack makes the early game even worse on it though so Naive/Hasty are better early on IMO) nature is definitely the best nature Typhlosion can hope to have, it doesn't really care about the excess power any +special attack nature gives. The EVs you get just by KOing stuff are enough to make a difference in it's speed as well, and unless you're actively rotating you're team (Some people do this, I've never tried it) you should never have trouble being near the level cap at any late game gym leader fight without grinding. (I never grind.) Also, I really don't mean to come off as aggressive or condescending, so apologies if I come off that way. My main issue with froakie is that while it does have the speed, special attack, and a decent attack stat it's moves lack the power needed to offset it's frailty for a long time and because of it's frailty the only water starter it really outdoes early on is Totodile. But I'll concede now.

I fail to see how Eruption is unreliable. Yes, Typhlosion has to be at full health to get the 150 power of Eruption (225 with STAB) but it's fast enough to outspeed nearly everything, and will OHKO a vast majority of the foes you encounter with it's base Special attack of 109. No other fire type aside from Blaziken can faceroll the late game better than Typhlosion can. Chandelure can't completely trivialize nearly half of the late game like Typhlosion can. It's the hardest hitting non-setup Fire Type in the game, not to mention it's ability to destroy 4 troublesome field effects, and even replacing some of them with the burning field, and that gives a full HP Eruption a ridiculous power of 375 (Flash Fire included) if I'm doing the math right. Typhlosion's only real strikes against it, is that without breeding it's best move set is Eruption, Flamethrower, Nature Power, and Hidden Power, and that it's early game performance is only acceptable, which is enough of a problem to push it to B tier instead of any higher. Feraligatr does miss the physical STAB. Crunch and Ice Fang, even with Sheer Force just don't cut it. Mudkip doesn't get a physical STAB until level 51, which while better than Feraligatr having to wait until level 63, the only notable physical move it gets until then is Rock Slide. Froakie is definitely not A tier, as even with Protean the only useful moves it gets until Dark Pulse from Luna are Water Pulse and Extrasensory (at level 49). It's early game blows, and it doesn't get good for a long time.
-
Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion: Since my reasoning was long, I'll put it in a spoiler. Also no, Mudkip is C+ at best due to most of it's movepool being special until it gets Earthquake (I'm still a bit peeved that it was considered too strong for when you got the event one, seriously it's not), and Totodile is D+ at best because even though it gets Sheer Force, Crunch, and Ice Fang it doesn't get a physical STAB until level 63 and it's special attack is mediocre.

Yeah, I always knew Sky Attack was from Gen 1, and not because I'm clever. I have a really old guide for the original Red and Blue that mentions Sky Attack. Similarly, for the longest time I thought Skarmory was a gen 3 Pokemon, because I never found it in GSC and I thought that it's anime appearances were a promotion for Ruby and Sapphire.
-
Going back to these points, I think the new recruitment system allows for a harder game (and a better one, IMO). If you could recruit any Pokemon by just beating them, then it'd be possible to recruit these super powerful Pokemon and break most of the game. (Aside from when they get locked out for story reasons) Also, almost none of the negatives that have been listed are negatives to me. Also making better items cheaper makes the game much more fair to the player whereas inflating item prices would be artificial difficulty.

Fixing it up (A Pokemon Reborn Hardcore Playthrough)
Personthing replied to Commander's topic in Team Showcase
If the AI absolutely refuses to cooperate at all, then just go for the calm mind team. It'll save the headache of trying to fix Radomus, and is a good temporary fix. For the other questions on the poll, Bennett should drop Butterfree, that species is way too weak to even be considered a threat by that point in the game and is just OHKO fodder. Samson, I'm a bit torn on his mega. Mega Blaziken is nice and kind of overkill, but Lucario is merely OHKO fodder without the mega. My current vote on that is for Blaziken though. -
How's the difficulty with an EV trained team?
Personthing replied to Ronan Erudon's topic in Reborn City
I've EV trained once. It killed the enjoyment of the run as it made everything so easy, and this was before a few nerfs to certain leaders. -
Sounds like this game will be a good addition to the Mystery Dungeon series, and from what you've heard it looks like the series has regained it's footing. Really looking forward to it now.

Fixing it up (A Pokemon Reborn Hardcore Playthrough)
Personthing replied to Commander's topic in Team Showcase
I just wanna say I really like most of the changes that you've made with 1.8, aside from Shade feeling a bit too weak. Florinia can put up a good fight now, so you especially did a good job with her. Looking forward to 1.9. -
Things that you DONT like on Pokemon Reborn.
Personthing replied to Karyuudan's topic in Reborn City
I wouldn't say money is scarce... I mean in the beginning of the game it really is, but as the game progresses trainers give a ton of money, and some of the sections of the game are massive money dumps like Sigmund's orphanage where you get about $3000 per battle, and basically every section with a lot of team Meteor battles after the Beryl ward. -

Undertale is a great game. I did a genocide run because I had watched a true pacifist run, and goodness did it leave me drained. You don't feel like you're failing to be a hero in most games with a morality system in Undertale, you feel like you're successfully being an angel of death, and it doesn't feel nice. Deleted and reinstalled the game afterwards, so I may do a true pacifist run of the game and never touch it again afterwards.

I've played both of the Symphonia games and Abyss. I've enjoyed all of the ones I've played.
