  1. Remember when I said I was gonna make this a bit shorter? This is the longest part yet, lmao. (Or at least the one with the most images) Now then, onto Part 4: Ecruteak City - Chuck: Next time, Olivine Lighthouse and Jasmine at the very least. This game seems to completely ignore anything that HGSS changed. Also for those who are interested in trying this game, but are having trouble with the included emulator it turns out that you can run this game on any GBA emulator with a catch: The Day/Night system and the daily events do not work.
  2. Hmmm. That's an entirely different issue in of itself. I believe that's one of the system files on a computer. Not quite sure how to deal with that.
  3. Err, apologies on my part. I'm pretty sure most patches (or at least all the ones I've played) work just fine if the patch and the rom have the same name and are in the same folder. Ex: Pokemon.gba for the rom, and Pokemon.ips for the patch. Liquid crystal requires you to hard patch the rom with a program like lunar IPS. You
  4. Now then, it's time for part 3: Bugsy's gym - Pre Ecruteak city: For future parts, (aside from the very beginning of part 4) I will be taking more screenshots during new story sequences, as it makes it kind of awkward to only have bits and pieces of dialogue that are unfamiliar to everyone. Next time, Morty's gym and a bit onward from that. This hack, aside from the special/physical split completely follows Gen 3's mechanics including Pokemon learnsets.
  5. Link: http://pokemonliquidcrystal.com/ I'll keep that in mind. I do like making substantial progress in every part, my main concern is making it so it doesn't drag on.
  6. Now then, onto Part 2: Sprout Tower - Pre-Bugsy Rival Clusterfuck: Part 3 will probably be either sometime this evening or tomorrow.
  7. I've been on a Pokemon high of sorts lately, and I've really been feeling the urge to do a playlog, so here we are. I'll be playing Pokemon Liquid Crystal, a Pokemon Crystal remake for the GBA that uses Fire Red as the base game. Why this instead of Heart Gold or Soul Silver? Well, I kind of felt like doing something different, and speaking of doing something different, apparently Liquid Crystal has taken some liberties and did some things differently from HGSS. This is going to be completely blind, except for one thing: I've heard that trade evolution Pokemon have been changed to evolve through other means. If this is the wrong forum for this, apologies to the mods. Now let's begin... Part 1: Beginning - Falkner: Future parts will still use images, but I'll try to make them shorter. The start is a pretty long thing to get through. Next time, Bellsprout Tower, Union Cave, and maybe Bugsy. Feedback is appreciated
  8. 1: As others have said, many fan favorites were in the game and available early on, but most of them either A: Trivialized many bosses easily, B: Were used by basically everyone and overshadowed everything else, or both. While I disagree with some decisions (Like Mudkip being axed, or Elekid and Magby being moved to right near the end of the current release and you have to trade their evolution items to get them so you can't even evolve them, when other fire/electric types like Arcanine or Magnezone/Magneton are better than them.) 2: It's a toxic, overcrowded and under funded city being actively sabotaged by terrorists. It's also partly like that to set up for when the city gets better in the next episode. I understand a bleak atmosphere for so long being tiring though, but I personally quite like the contrast it creates with the rest of Reborn's world. 3: I can see how the Arceus is quite hard to deal with unprepared, but the game does give you ways to deal with it, like using focus sash on a perish song user, or spamming thunderwave until El stops using full heals. The other overlevel'd bosses like the PULSE Pokemon are meant to be like that, so you can't just OHKO them. 4: I personally like the cosmetic look of the map, but it is quite incomplete and I can see why it'd be confusing. 5: Most dragon types barring Druddigon, Non-mega Altaria, and arguably Noivern and Goodra are super powerful. I'd insist that most dragons should not be available until late game. Also it seems that your friend does not know about common candies, which lower a Pokemon's level by 1 so as to not have problems with obedience, and they are readily available in the candy shop in the Obsidia ward. Glad to hear that you like the game, and welcome to the community.
  9. Even as someone who strongly dislikes entry hazards as a whole, I still get some kicks out of spamming whirlwind with Skarmory while I have 3 layers of spikes and Stealth Rock up.

  10. My sleep schedule has gone so out of whack that it has become somewhat normalized again. Well, lets hope I can keep it that way.

  11. Huh, in Red and Blue Pikachu can evolve without a thunder stone if it levels up with Growlithe being the lead party member because Growlithe shares the same hex value with the thunder stone. TIL.

      Shadow Sketches

Conspiracy Theory: Thunder stones are actually made out of compressed Growlithe's that are butchered in poke-meat factories.

  12. She and a number of NPCs will be on an elevated rock overlooking the waterfall just north of the entrance to Amethyst cave from route 2. If she's not there, try talking to her again in Gearen.
  13. The Johto starters. I can't really think of any other Pokemon more deserving than them. They'll probably be the last starters to get megas though.
  14. Farfetched, Deliberd, Quilfish, Girafarig, and basically all of the no evolution Pokemon that have stats around middle stage Pokemon of a three stage family.
  15. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen2ou-337617473 Most satisfying win I've had in a loooonnnggg time.

Kept trying for way too long to get special defence drops on that Umbreon with Crunch though.

Although gen 2 is my favorite, it had by far the worst competitive metagame of all!

  16. Fun fact: Out all of the sets of starter Pokemon throughout the series, the johto starters have been obtainable in more games than any other set of starter Pokemon in a whopping total of 6 games. (GSC, Emerald, Colosseum, XD, HGSS, and ORAS) The closest any other set of starter Pokemon gets to this are the kanto starters which are obtainable in 4 games. (RBY, FRLG, HGSS, and XY)

and yet i feel like they get the least love

  17. Pokemon Red and Blue for the 3ds will be able to use the Pokemon Bank. Welp time to use the Mew glitch lmao.

  18. While nowadays I can have a pretty comfortable and fun time going through the hardcore mod, my first playthrough was an experience to say the least. I completed episode 12 with only a Typhlosion, Swampert, Mightyena, cannon fodder Heatmor, and two other cannon fodder Pokemon because I was playing badly and not going out of my way to find stuff and was very picky. I still remember my hype when Heatmor barely scrapped by Serra's final Pokemon.
  19. Whoa, what? Already? That's pretty cool, but take your time.
  20. Welp, Fates is now playable for those who purchase it on the E-shop. Fun times commence.

  21. Just finished my second run of Rejuvenation, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. My second run did not go as smoothly as the first run (which also had some trouble), as half my team really sucked up until I replaced them right before Erick. I did do all of the side quests, barring a few event Pokemon this time around though. I've had quite a bit of fun with the plot, and am looking forward to seeing where it's going. It's simple math, it's not like it's a really involving puzzle and all you gotta do is run around and find the numbers. Although he's gotten stuck on easier things before...
  22. Yeah it's impossible to go back at the current point in the game (my wording was a bit confusing sorry). You made the same mistake I did missing the dusk stone that's right next to the odd house, so scratch Mismagius of the list. Perhaps change it with Mawile, which would be mostly fodder to keep Manectric healthy? That Seismitoad should be able to take out Lanturn or at least weaken it enough for Manectric to start getting to work on Valerie's team. Your main focus should be taking down Politoad and Lanturn ASAP, wait for rain to end, and then let Manectric go to town, while also foddering things to keep it healthy if need be.
