  1. Gen1 Fav: Agatha. She's a strong willed trainer and an acquaintance of Prof Oak. This alone gives her more of a story than the others. Not Fav: Bruno. He's kinda bland and he's an easy battle. Gen2 Fav: Karen. There are good reasons why she's at the top of the elite four of Johto. She's strong and actually has some good strategy. I've sweated when battling her. Not Fav: Will. While Bruno remains to be an easy battle, Will is quite the pushover. Gen3 Fav: Sidney. I was going to say Drake, but Sidney is the only member of this gen that doesn't have a duplicate of a pokemon. It gets boring battling two Banettes, two Dusclops, two Glaile, two Sealeo, and two Flygon. Sidney may not be tough but he has variety. Not Fav: Glacia. Out of the four members she doesn't stand out. Gen4 Fav: Flint. It was a good move to introduce this guy in Sunnyshore city. His friendship with Volkner and the knowledge that you'd be fighting this guy actually made the pokemon league interesting again following team Galactic and all the legendary business. That and he's pretty cool. Not Fav: Bertha or Lucian. Like the other least favorites I don't like these two as much because they don't stand out. They are simply a ground and psychic trainer respectively and not much more. Gen5 Fav: Grimsley. Do I have to explain this? He's the handsome dark character. He's like a cross between James Bond (cause he's a smooth gambler) and Batman (cause why not?). Not Fav: Caitlin. I know the backstory of how she was the leader of one of the original Battle Frontier facilities, and that makes her more interesting, but in gen 5 she's boring. Literally, she is bored of the battle and seems to expect to be blown back by any dark type. That doesn't make for an interesting battle. Also, all the gen 5 elite four get over shadowed by Team Plasma. Note: I have not played this gen, but I can have an opinion anyways. Gen6 Fav: Wikstrom. He's a literal knight. He has a sword and shield pokemon. Then there's the theory that his Aegislash is possessing him. From what I know so far about him he's awesome. Not Fav: Drasna. I can pretend that she's a badass dragon trainer, but compared to Lance, Drayden, and even Iris (who got plenty of character from the show) Drasna seems like an old trick.
  2. Some things that I've seen in a couple fan games but not the main games: -Nuzlocke mode: where nuzlocke rules are active to make a play through tougher. -Choices: in-game choices that the player makes that can actually change the story. -Tough rivals: pushover, friendly rivals are boring. Give them character and skill.
  3. This is gonna be great for those fans who have been around so long that they know almost everything about the Pokemon universe that has been explicitly said. Every new thing is like a piece of candy for us.
  4. I'm of the mind that the early movies are better. The newer one seem more kid oriented where the first few tackled some dark themes. I love Mewtwo so the first movie's awesome. Pokemon 2000 is my favorite as Ash is THE hero rather than a hero. Pokemon 4Ever is heart wrenching. The only newer one I like enough to add to this list is the Rise of Darkrai movie. Because Darkrai's awesome, I prefer Palkia over Dialga, and the tower's song is pretty awesome. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then go watch the movie again.
  5. Yeah I see the connection. If that is what the developers were going for then great, but if not it's a happy coincidence.
  6. Part of the challenge of this game is the sheer limit of Pokemon you have access to in early game. The Pokemon you can catch really diminishes if you're picky about what they are. I don't know about the necessity of Trubbish but it has some good defense and the possibility of poisoning the foe would help a lot. That being said, this game focuses on strategies. You aren't allowed over leveled Pokemon or super rare Pokemon, so the only avenue is to develop strategies to counter your opponent's. Status effects and stat changes can be just as important as type advantage. Hope this helps.
  7. I would chose Max (May's little brother) annoying as he is I'm sure it would be fun to help him in his early trainer years.
  8. If you don't like games like Harvest Moon then this is very similar.
  9. I really like these guys even though they don't have pictures or names yet. The rock one seems to literally be glass. Some suggestions. First, I'm guessing the evolution curve is 16 and 36, but it would be good to say this up front. Second, some move ideas. For the rock type I don't see Toxic even in the list of possible TMs. A future poison type should be able to use Toxic. The fighting type could use more ghost moves for when it gets that typing. While it seems to prefer kicks both Shadow Punch and Shadow Claw are physical ghost moves that could help. For the flying type, considering its low attack stats it would benefit from continuously damaging moves. I don't know what could work with a flying steel type. Just some constructive criticism. Hope this helps a bit.
  10. That is concerning. I've been waiting so long for Reborn to update and would hate it if Nintendo tried to take it down as well. If they don't like these games going up then Nintendo should at least hire these talented people rather than snub their creativity and passion.
  11. I never knew that. One that I just realized though. I though that Rotom was just a play on rotor, but it's also motor backwards. Why did I not see that?
  12. Reborn was my first. I started playing Pokemon Insurgence after seeing ShadyPenguinn start playing it. I haven't finished it yet since it still has to update like Reborn. After that I played through Pokemon Fusion Generation. Now I'm playing Pokemon Omicron.
  13. I chose electric because I most favor the speed stat and many electric types are fast. Not only that but electric moves usually hit hard and inflict paralysis.
  14. Hoenn- I started there. It is the region I grew up in and has a lot of memorable Pokemon. It also seems pretty tropical (not counting Kyogre's monsoons) and could be quite the place to live. Starter: Treeko Team: Newt- Mega Sceptile Peridot- Sableye Tungsten- Aagron Feldspar- Camerupt Numbus- Altaria Kelvin- Walrein Note: Only Peridot was a premeditated nickname.
  15. I usually don't make topics here mostly because I have trouble finding topics that are either not already taken or topics that are interesting in the first place. But now I have one that I think might spark some interest. Maybe. So, without further ado, which legendary Pokemon would you want to exist in real life? One legendary or trio (such as the Regis) that would exist on modern day planet Earth to interact with humans. Would their presence be good or bad for humans? How would humanity react? Keep in mind that other Pokemon do not exist in this case and the legendary(ies) are completely unique. So have at it. Which supernatural force of nature would you unleash upon our world?
  16. Zygarde and version Z will probably be saved for after Sun and Moon when Game Freak is trying to buy time to come up with a new region or likely another remake (Sinnoh).
  17. First I'm not sure it was meant this way but the poll lets us pick as many of the options as we want. Thus anyone could pick every single starter or just one. My Answer: Meganium, Samurott, and Chesnaught. Meganium - It's just a bad starter. Mostly everyone knows this. It's is plain grass type without learning any strong non-grass moves (besides maybe Body Slam). It also has a disadvantage in the region it's introduced with the first two gyms plus others. Samurott - This isn't based on stats and only a little on movepool, but mainly on my expectations of its evolution line. Oshawott and Dewott suggested an upright figure and followed the samurai theme, but Samurott ended up hunched on all four legs. This ruined it for me as my expectations were shattered. Chesnaught - This also plays off of Samurott. After having my expectations for Samurott broken I saw Chespin and its similarity to Oshawott in body shaped got my hopes up. Then we had Quiladin the pin cushion and Chesnaught the hunchback juggernaut and I was again disappointed. So there are my reasons and opinions.
  18. I would pick Litten but I'm really interested in seeing how Rowlet grows. This is the first owl pokemon since Noctowl and it's a starter so I hope it turns out great.
  19. While I used Simisear for a very short time (replaced by Victini) I think I'd like to use Simisage (if forced to use one). Simisage is the coolest looking one of the three and could probably hit hard if needed.
  20. I'll just go down the generation line: Gen 1 -Lapras pre-evolution Lapras is so iconic but this makes it almost too rare for it to be used. When it is available you will get it in late game and have to replace a member of your team. If it is just given to the player (Kalos) it loses value. Gen 2 -Dunsparce This desperately needs an evolution and is primed for a type change (dragon?). -Delibird Part of me want an evo for Delibird because I'm a fan of ShadyPenguinn but also because this bird is useless otherwise. Note: There are many more from this gen that need an evo but I stuck to the ones that needed it most. Gen 3 -Solrock and Lunatone Obviously. Note: There are many here that could use an evo but I either like them the way they are or don't care. Gen 4 -Carnivine This pokemon gets little love next to Roserade and other grass pokemon of the generation. Gen 5 -Emolga Emolga is already great, but an evolution would peak its potential and make it so much better. -Stunfisk Why does this exist. It screams for an evolution by just existing. Gen 6 -Dedenne While many Pika-clones are one stage deals made for prime cuteness I would like to see what could be done with an electric/fairy rodent.
  21. I'm not sure what all's been discussed so far but I'd like to point out something about the reaction on whether competitively breeding Pokemon is considered inhumane. Breeding tons of "imperfect" Pokemon has its faults but casual players have their own offenses. I'll list a few: - leaving a Pokemon in the daycare or using the experience share both seem to be forms of neglect. The trainer may intend their Pokemon to get strong without battling, but I would wager that if they were considered pets (or as partners) it would be painful for the trainer to treat them as such. Can you see your dog (or other pet) wearing a helmet to learn new tricks? - there is little evidence of what benefit Pokemon get from battling other than experience. It is basically up to trainers and the league challenge that Pokemon are set to battle as much as they do. Granted, Pokemon would likely battle naturally. Given this there is no guarantee that a Pokemon will be captured by a good trainer. - the 'gotta catch them all' slogan. Don't tell me you have time to care for 700 some creatures of various sizes and behaviors. Even if every Pokemon was evolved (or not if no evo) there would still be around 350 Pokemon to worry about. No one has time to properly care for all of them especially considering the power some hold, such as the legendaries. - talking about legendaries who thinks kids (or anyone for that matter) should be allowed to catch and wield almighty forces of nature. I'm gonna leave that one there. Sorry for the long rant pointing out some of the obvious parts of Pokemon. Nonetheless I hope this sparks some conversation.
  22. I recently took one of the online quizzes for determining spirit Pokemon and got Keckleon. I would like to disagree but now that I think about it I tend to blend into the background when with people. I'm not sure what else is implied about this Pokemon assignment.
