  9. -Probably a better place to continue that discussion-

Most of my playthroughs have been through regular teams, with the occasional challenge run such as a nuzlocke, or the recent ghost mono, so I tend to restrict myself to set mode to keep things fair; the AI doesn't particularly get to switch between KO's either. It adds a layer of strategy in positioning which isn't nearly as existent in shift mode in my eyes.

I've seen the AI swap out in cases you use a Super-effective move with charging turn.

e.g., I used Dig with my Sandslash vs Heliolisk. Half the times I did so, it swapped out (in Rejuvenation, but still).

A nuzlocke/mono in such games are already punishing/hard enough, so Set would be really masochistic, if I'm allowed to put it this way. Especially in a nuzlocke, in a mono you may manage, be tough vs the type disadvantage leaders, but manageable with correct roster. Nuzlocke... NOPE!

I might try it in my Normal monorun though. When I actually find time to start it...

I didn't try it on my nuzlocke because I had little confidence in my ability to beat the game in a nuzlocke with set mode on, it'd have turned a certain boss that I had already had trouble with into an absolutely nightmare :unamused:

Sometimes, I feel bad ("cheat") for playing on Shift. I did once, in my Danganronpa themed Rejuvenation run, which was on Intense difficulty as well. Then, I checked my battle recordings. I noticed that I never really switch out after OHKO'ing a 'mon. I felt less bad afterwards.

  13. @Jess You're right on the Outrage thing it seems. Weird, thought set mode allowed you to switch out. I'd probably still keep it on as a last resort simply for the raw power. Same for the Iron Head thing. I'll be on the lookout for those then, super useful for my ghost mono too. @Zander Sticking solely to Choice Scarf is a pretty bad idea/waste of other items it could possibly run. Not like Hardy or Saphira are gunna put up much of a fight against it's overwhelming advantage against them anyways. Not like you can get Choice Scarf without try harding against Indra anyways.
  14. I wouldn't really bother with a Choice Scarf when there's much better forms of speed control for an in game setting. You're best off getting Bulldoze/Dragon Claw or Rush/Stone Edge/Iron Head for now with a Life Orb. @Jess - Facing Fairies with Garchomp: Most fairies are slower than Garchomp so with a Life Orb, and just a bit of chip damage, Garchomp can pretty easily finish them off by hitting their generally low physical defense with Poison Jab or Iron Head. Iron head is the better option here as it hits Ice types for super effective damage too, and is generally more reliable than Stone Edge. - Outrage If Stomping Tantrum tutor was in right now, I'd absolutely suggest Outrage on the last move slot. The raw power increase from Dragon Claw > Outrage is obscene, not to mention that most people play on shift mode, meaning after a KO, Outrage's drawback is entirely negated. If the AI has a fairy type to switch to, just don't use Outrage until they're in range for a sure KO. Trust me, having basically tested out nearly every inch of the new AI, exploiting it is pretty easy. - Stone Edge PP Where in the world does one procure some PP Max. I need myself some of these for my own Garchomp and Rhyperior. Finally this should be moved to Team Showcase, tagging @Ice Cream Sand Witch for this.
  15. No it's the superior species, Typhlosion. Perhaps you've heard of it?
  16. Get a Life Orb or Muscle Band for it. Aside from that, once E18 comes around replace Dig with Stomping Tantrum for a reliable ground stab.
  17. Bulbasaur: 26 Charmander: 8 Cyndaquil: 28 Totodile: 20 Mudkip: 24 Turtwig: 19 Chimchar: 14 Piplup: 23 Snivy: 16 Oshawott: 19 Chespin: 20 Fennekin: 16 Froakie: 16 Rowlet: 20 Litten: 12 Popplio: 23

(Doing this early because I won't have time until late tomorrow.)
  19. Why not just Bug/Dragon with Tinted Lens(WHICH IT SHOULD HAVE MIND YOU). It's not like Pokemon can naturally Mega Evolve anyways :x
  20. I'd accidentally already stumbled on those videos before as you'd uploaded them to your channel already, so congratulations! I've already mentioned the Toxicroak thing so here's a few more alternative ideas or general thoughts; - If you used an Elemental Seed Amoonguss or Venusaur, you could've stalled out practically her entire team. Venusaur lays down Leech Seed and Toxic and just Giga Drain away while it regains incredible amounts of HP from Aqua Ring and Leech Seed on top of Giga Drain(Elemental Seed on Water Surface raises SPDef and gives the user Aqua Ring; it practically turns Venusaur immortal against her.) - Why not have Tailwind on Crobat over Cross Poison? You're running a Poison Mono so the extra poison coverage doesn't provide much, whereas Tailwind is amazing utility for your slower, yet hard hitting Pokemon such as Nidoking and Drapion. - Are you planning on picking up a Gengar? I know you don't particularly lean towards more Popular Pokemon, but Gengar brings quite a few niches what with it's advantage against Psychic types, fast Destiny Bond, surprisingly clutch Cursed Body ability(even if it's not levitate, this ability is VERY handy.) and what with you running a Poison Mono, you've got easy access to toxic spikes, to even give it reliable poison STAB in Venoshock.
  21. Scizor never relies on U-Turn but instead uses it because it synergises well with it's signature Bullet Punch; Come in to revenge kill? They switch out, but you predict that and get off a decently strong stab move and can counter that switch. Bug Bite is just a strong stab move. I'd personally be a bigger fan of Fairy's being weak to/resisted by Psychic though. Would make the Fairy matchup for Dragon bearable what with Latios/Latias actually being able to play on even footing. More over it'd make them all synergise well with Dark/Fighting types on top of the Dark/Fighting/Psychic cores as they can all take care of each other. gib more wuv to jewwy baby reuniclus plox. Mfw you like basically every Dragon type to a degree. Garchomp, Hydreigon, Flygon, Kindra and Salamence remain my top 5 though , got your absurdity and obligatory 'edge' in landsharkdinosaurjetplanedragon(it's absurd and amazing.), weirdly adorable Chubby Hydra and Antlion Dragon, and then majestic Seahorse Dragon and the bogstandard but obligatory European Dragon. Honorable mention goes to Alolan Exeggutor, actual perfection. Where's my Flygon and Kingdra Megas, Game Freak >:(
