Like nick said, you have to balance how much experience each of your pokemon get. And if overleveled, it's probably worth bringing them back to an usable level. Personally, I used only once a common candy, for my golbat against florinia (it was episode 10), which overleveled in the fight. I pretty much used him for the bigger threats in that battle, to maximize it's worth. Aside that, it comes back to the first sentence. The nice thing is that, in leveling those less interesting mons up, they can prove to be suprisingly big assets (like pachirisu). Reborn is kinda made to be a bit harder than the normal games. I was taken by suprise, too.

I agree. Rename your old save file, and start from scratch with a protean froakie. You can also get noibat early (which is 6th gen), but I don't recommend it. You can try, though.

Since you're doing a monotype psychic run, and I assume you already played though (most of) the game, should we maybe try to give advice/find tactics on how to fight Shade? You're not going to have any pokemon that doesn't take super effective damage at that point, if I'm correct, so that why I'm asking.

To be fair, the primary puzzle in that factory was not so easy. It didn't immediately come to my mind how to get all the extras (ditto and a rare candy). But yeah, you're probably able to get a ditto somewhere 2 gyms later, I think. (I know it's in 7th street for sale) You're gonna need to breed creatively, then. You'll be alright.

First, get rid of the weaker HMs, and put those on a slave bibarel or so... Like cyaloom said, having multiple moves of the same type on one pokemon isn't recommended (eruption + flamethrower is, however, since eruption isn't a move wth fixed BP). You should decide if you want a physical or special attacking crobat, mixing causes it to be less powerful. physical could run cross poison (or poison fang for maybe a lucky hax) and acrobatics, while the special one can run venoshock (or sludge bomb, if you find a way), air slash, HP, shadow ball, dark pulse...pick four Maybe you want to breed a primeape with elemental punch(es)? You can also get lucario in an event Grass knot works quite well on raichu, and maybe a nice HP (idk, ice perhaps)? Do what you want with flygon. Mine has rock slide instead of earth power, but you might want to keep it hence to some less fun side effects of EQ. I sadly never used dewgong, so I don't have advice on that one. The same for florges. There are probably better moves for espeon than swift. HP, for examle, if it gives you more coverage. Goddamit etesian, I was almost finished :/ Theboomstick, the post above gives you way better and more complete advice. He pretty much already mentions what I wanted to say.

Ferrothorn, lucario, scizor? (I got no moveset suggestions)

For fighting serra: maybe it's worth raising a vulpix with drought (or even evolve it) to counter the hail and melt those chilling pokemon? A nice weather support pokemon can sometimes be very useful. Azumarill is also an option, if you're not that fixed on getting a sylveon, especially if you can breed it aqua jet. You can also get aron in the railnet, aggron will really help against the next gym badges.

Crobat can also be a nice addition. Immune to ground, and flying-type is way more relevant from Radomus on. You can run a physical (acrobatics, cross poison, etc) or a special set (bred nasty plot, venoshock, air slash, shadow bal/HP). Most people prefer the latter.

If you're going for an Iron fist-infernape, you might want to consider breeding one with thunderpunch for some nice coverage, and EV-training it's attack and speed. I don't know about poison point on Roserade...it's got a quite thin physical defense, however, I got one with natural cure, and I only benefitted from it twice, I think. Maybe consider swapping it's ability for it's hidden ability? (I thought it was regenerator, but in all honesty idk) I don't know how mamoswine learns icicle crash, but I think it is preferred over ice fang because of a bigger damage output.

If needed, use sounds of joy/agony as 'glue' for it. You'll get there I had the same, but with this reaction (viewer discretion is advised, if (mild) cursing gets you riled up very easily): Well, yeah. Didn't expect that to happen. It was my first run, I didn't even do the vulpix event before that, I think, so this was the first overleveled single-pokemon boss I encountered. Fuuuuuun...

If it took you days to try/find a way to beat a single ******************** pokemon, you bet it's going to be memorable. I planned/trained at least one week trying (maybe two, idk). If then the reward isn't that great (when you did't even get more than 700 exp for it), or you stumbled on some crippling bugs (X-items didn't work at some point), and something very jarring in the story happens right after...let's just say it's going to leave a mark of achievement/disbelief that's going to stay for quite some time. I also remember that, at one point, the X-items were broken, so my stategy (which I posted earlier) wasn't nearly as effective (and costly) I also managed to do such a trick with gardevoir, giving that the X-items, Calm minding+healing, then nuke with moonblast. Not that it will work now, ralts now appears later in the game...

Same tactic, but with ekans and growlithe. But yeah, without cofagrigus I cursed a lot more...When it wasn't a superheated field, I had one intimidator (arcanine). I switched into almost every other pokemon as death fodder, to get -6 on him. (Then I used a cotton candy for my scrafty, if my gardevoir didn't take a dragon tail.) After that, I send out scrafty to get it +6 def with X-def. From there, my tactic was to stall the hell out of it, hoping it didn't land a crit, and healing off with items. And it didn't give so much exp back then. So yeah, cofagrigus is godly, even if you want a gengar.

Snorlax is mostly seen with curse instead of belly drum to aid it's defense simultaneously, but to be honest, I wouldn't know either what to run on it, since I never used one. Etesian will probably know what to do, just wait and he'll probably comment.

You pretty much nailed it. every medium has gone through such a phase, being seen as only for a specific target audience. A problem with the stigma of games not getting broken is that it gets generalized to which ones get the most attention, and those games tend to be, or marketed, childish or juvenile (refer to EA's promotion campaigns of, like, dante's inferno or dead space 3, for example). Games that push the boundaries are generally less successful, but, unlike movies, they don't get the attention they deserve, while movies have the Oscars, Golden Globes, Cannes...since the few game award shows that exist now aren't even close to those standards. Extra Credits made a compelling video about the latter subject, if I'm correct.
