I only said it was probably the better of the three, because I looked at it in the (very) long run, perhaps. I can understand that fennekin has some good moves, certainly by level-up, and chespin gets some very helpful type advantages from the beginning. I will not disagree with that. Personally, I used the ability of froakie and it's evolutionary line mostly defensive to get just enough damage off while taking a soft hit, to then delivering the KO-blow. Sure, it doesn't get very strong moves by leveling, but the ones I had were (almost) always enough to severely dent my opponent (except garchomp...). Also, chespin can be gotten by event, and there are other strong psychic-types you encounter. But good water-types are rather scarce (except azumarill, for now). So I also based my choice on what you get during the game.
