  1. Final tally of my third day of Skullgirls: I got Filia, Cerebella, Big Band and Eliza figured out. Still working on that Squigly, I do feel like I'm making progresses, but I still cannot master the "using stance cancels to extend combos" thing...

  2. Random Cold Steel thought #20: playing through NG+ with unlimited bonding points is making me realize just how many events I had missed in my first playthrough... Which in turn is making really hard for me to decide who I should romance. They are all so sweet, and have such elaborate personalities...

Already did in first playthrough (Emma), now I dunno who else I should go with... And Azure, can you even dance with males at the final event of the festival?

Well what better time to find out than now

  3. There is a NPC in Skullgirls named "Lorenzo Medici". Here is what the Wikia has to say about him (copy-pasting): "Lorenzo is named after Lorenzo de' Medici (Lorenzo of the city of Medici), an Italian banker who was the de facto ruler of the Republic of Florence during the Renaissance period. He was also one of the most powerful and violent crime bosses at the time."

I lived in Florence for a LONG time, so I know more than a little something about it. While it is true that the Medici had become rich thanks to involvement in the bank business, and while it is true that they committed many atrocities on their way to prominence (the most infamous being the massacre of the rival famili, the Pazzi), Lorenzo himself was not a banker nor a crime boss.

He was the honest to God feudal lord of the city, and one of the most prominent political figures in the entire country at the time. Not to mention, a skilled war tactician and a refined lover of arts: in fact, he is credited as being one of the minds behind the Renaissance as a whole.

  4. I know who Roshi is, I don't get what that has to do with the pic you singled out <.<
  5. Random Cold Steel thought #19: I love Sharon. Her interactions with Alisa are so damn funny, and the way they slowly build up her hidden depths is done absolutely to perfection. It's great for a game like this to have side chars that are as good as the main chars...

  6. Gonna be outside for the rest of the evening and most of the night. See you guys later.

  7. Eliza vs Beowulf be like "BACK OFF, RUFFIAN!"

  8. Guys, the OP gave Mega Nidoking good SpAtk. This being the case, I see no reason for even considering giving it any ability other than Sheer Force: it's the ability that benefits its movepool the most, and now that it actually has the needed SpAtk, it can succesfully exploit it. The +40 to SpAtk should make up for the loss of LO just fine.
  9. Big Band vs Peacock be like "Ah! Look at what my MUSICAL FIST OF DOOM does to your puny projectiles!"

Hmmm... Skullgirls is probably a game I should pick up one day. I hear it's tutorial like... actually teaches you how to paly a fighting game and I've always kinda wanted to. Sadly, I'm broke XD.

  10. Random Cold Steel thought #18: "What fair maiden doesn't carry around smoke grenades?" - Fie

  11. Random Cold Steel thought #17: you know, I am absolutely shocked by the impact Pokemon have had on everyday life. Having to say "I feel the same" during a conversation with a NPC, Rean says "ditto". This is an official dub made by a company, NISA, that has nothing to do with Nintendo, and keep in mind that, in this setting, the Pokemon franchise does not exist.

I HAD NO IDEA. Well, now I know what's the origin of Ditto's name, I guess...

    3. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

Yep, that's the origin of the name in english. It's a word that ((more like phrase)) that means "same" basically lol.

    4. Raindrop Valkyrie

      Raindrop Valkyrie

it's a phrase derived because of those marks since they basically mean "the same word is used here" so it's a term for same when used by itself like that.

  12. Lando gets Knock Off, which is kind of a mandatory move these day. That was my reason for suggesting Rocks on Clef. But if set-up sweeper Clef and Stone Edge Lando works better for you hey, it's your choice
  13. Realistically, the only move Breloom will only use to deal supereffective damage is Rock Tomb, and even that only on the switch (it's not like it can take on Mega Pinsir or Talonflame one on one). Reason being, Breloom's firepower is infamous, so I doubt there will ever be someone so stupid to leave a Pokemon that is weak to Fighting and/or Grass on the field, when you send Breloom out. Because of this, I believe Expert Belt is not a good idea: I unerstand the guy is so frail that losing HP on every attack doesn't sound appealing, but Life Orb is going to be more beneficial most of the time. Also, is Clefable a supporter or a set-up sweeper? Because the former doesn't need Calm Mind, and the latter needs Flamethrower over Thunder Wave (unless you enjoy being forced out every time Scizor shows its ugly face). So yeah, either give Clefable Stealth Rock over Calm mind and make her a full-on special wall (this has also the advantage of freeing a moveslot on Lando), or give her Flamethrower over T-wave and make her a full-on set-up sweeper. The rest of the team is solid, so I have nothing else to say. Overall, nice work
  14. *watches the Squigly video provided by Pyon* well, this is going to be much harder than I expected.

  15. See, this is the kind of post we want to see. Much like that one time when Pineapple complained about the lack of diversity, with this kind of detailed feedback we can pinpoint the issues our creations have, and make balance adjustments on the fly. Keep in mind, games like Reborn/Rejuv don't have to worry about balance (outside of "let's decide at which point this Pokemon will be caught"), but we are dealing with our creations... And well, even with my competitive experience, getting the balance of my own creations right on the first try is virtually impossible. Mainly for one reason: thanks to my competitive experience, I know what makes a Pokemon balanced in the competitive environment... Which means, at level 100 and with its full movepool available to it. But a game is not made of level 100 Pokemon, and while predicting how a Pokemon will play at level 100 is easy for me, predicting how it will play at level 1 through 99 is MUCH more difficult, because there are so many variables. I might think that, since a Pokemon is going to be so powerful at level 100 and with its full movepool available, it is a good idea to make it hard for it to access its full movepool, and/or make it level up slowly... And this could lead me to overdo it, giving it so many crippling weaknesses that people will not care about its power at level 100, simply because they will be discouraged from keeping it in the team for that long. On the other hand, I might be tempted to give early game tools to a Pokemon that is weak at level 100, and this could end up making it broken for the early game. How do we avoid making such mistakes? Well, simply put, we don't: it is absolutely inevitable, we WILL make these mistakes. So the only solution is to fix them afterwards, based on the feedback of the players. Which is why detailed posts like this one, that really explain the how and the why of each consideration (as opposed to simply saying "this or that is broken"), are really a Godsend for us. I really wish more people would make posts like this. With this being said, let me address Author's points: 1) I am curious about which ability your Elftik got upon evolving (there are two different possibilities, both of which are useful, I am curious as to which one you got), as well as what this "diamond in the rough" is. If you don't want to spoil for the others, please send me a PM. 2) As you may or may not know, I created the starters of this game. And Eufur's final evo is universally considered, among the lucky ones who already know the full Graterras Pokedex, my bestest creation, not just among the starters, but overall. However, I made with it the mistake I was talking about above: at level 100 this guy ends up being the absolute best at its job, in the history of the franchise, so I thought that a good way to keep its power in check would be to overspecialize it, I.E. cause it to be so great at its job, but crappy at more or less everything else. And to achieve this, I figured I would have it learn offensive moves very sparingly. The result is the situation you lamented, which really cripples the poor guy at low levels, making it that much worse than the other two starters. It was an obvious mistake on my part, but thanks to the detailed feedback we received on the subject, in Ep 2 we will fix such issues, making it easier for Eufur to make itself useful before it unlocks its tremendous Magikarp Power. Roobber and Lifoam will be retooled as well, to improve even more its offensive game and to give it more options to put its versatility to good use, respectively. So yeah, I think it would be better, for people who have trained their starter past level 18, to start a new savefile when Ep 2 comes around, or they may miss out on some moves. Of course, none of the moves in question has early-game potential, so if you don't feel like restarting and you think you can fend for yourself regardless, that works too
  16. After learning the basics of the combo system with Filia, moving on to learn Squigly (who was my intended main all along) brings back so many memories: it feels the same as when I learned Blazblue's basics with Ragna, and then moved onto learning Hazama...

  18. Oh hey, remember that comment I made about Ryder's career? Well, it was made without having watched Raw. Now I did watch Raw and, surprise surprise, looks like they already took the title off him. And there were actually people on the internet who were excited to finally see a Ryder push...
  19. My prediction for Ryder's career going forward, based on the way he has been booked so far: he loses to every major star in sight (much like Wade Barret did last year), while retaining his title in a couple of meaningless matches with NXT people and assorted jobbers, matches that of course never make it to PPV (pre-show at most). He then loses to a returning Neville (who was the one who was meant to be at 'Mania to begin with, being replaced by Ryder only because of an injury) and proceeds to do absolutely nothing, never to be mentioned again. Of course, to see Zack Ryder embark in a grand storyline of redemption, of finally grabbing that brass ring, would be a dream come true... But knowing WWE bookers, which theory seems more plausible?
  20. After my first 24 hours of Skullgirls, I only found 3 things I don't like: Double (all that morphing gives me a headache), Big Band's guard point punch (it is so damn easy to bait and you can see it come from a mile, it looks like they made it the classic "noobs just spam this" move on purpose) and Marie (I hate the whole concept of "boss with no hitstun"). Everything else is awesome and I love very much.

  21. Keep in mind, you will see the results of our efforts in the optional scene that follows the final credit roll, after beating the champion and being inducted in the Hall of Fame. And it is a LONG way until then. So yeah, I highly doubt that your findings/impressions from Ep 1 and 2 will let you draw any relevant conclusion for the time being
