The battles are surely better, but I'd say overall the anime has not become anything much different. This time Ash has a team full of glass cannons and a pikachu, still missing a 6th. What I really hate is the insertion of this ashfrog thing in the anime due to it being complete bs. In the same gen that they introduce the concept of mega evolution in that anime, they also introduce some special snowflake frog that puts mega evos to shame and makes them out to be more or less a joke. Especially given the moveset ash's greninja carries( cut..aerial ace, DT and water shuriken), it is complete bs to watch . Since XYZ, they're also shoving the frog down your throat because almost every episode is about it and ash , once in a while you might see the rest of the team. To think they're overdoing it to the extent where you even begin to miss the constant spotlight on a pikachu... wellp. But hey, the battles are cool if you exclude the bs. Team Flare probably makes for a better story too, but nothing super different than usual

Wellp, no I'm not sure, but sometimes it's only the pre-evo or the evo that's used for 1 and the other for another ( I recall sneasel for dark and weavile for ice) but I'm not sure. Have to rewatch the water ones I guess.. Maybe water is an exception since there are a sh*tton of them so they reused 'em for other vids? EDIt: saw freshwater again, and yeah, only binacle was there. Barbaracle was left for rock video . Shellos blue was in the seawater video, Gastrodon was left for ground I guess? They may reuse some things anyway because dragons aren't too many but we'll see

For me personally, any graphics for a pokemon game from gen 3-4 onwards are fine. What I deem important is map and sprite quality I'd say... I know it's no easy process and I probably couldn't do better myself, but in all honesty, fangames that may have the best stories are capable of putting me off with abominations for spriting or mapping. tldr as long as it looks good for the graphics it's modeled after, it's fine

I would not say blatantly religion, but since the "cult of the sun and moon" exists in enough places around the world, one could pass it off as cultism. I mean , all evil teams are some form of "cultism" in that they formed a group with a goal based on some belief.. some are more fleshed out than others, but SunMoon could also be based on some cultist belief regarding sun and moon (I still want my dual cultist evil teams)

I believe nobody would ever beat a later gym in that case, unless you use said battles to heal your team THEN ? If that's possible even.. Regardless, it would be a hassle. I saw a video a while back theorizing about that same thing based on the name.. It makes sense since owl is written like Fukurō and our trademark name is also with a Mokurō . Tbh I would not mind a wood owl grass starter but they better pull it off well
