Torterra's nice although you can only get it say around mid-game, which would incline you to pick Turtwig as your starter; then again you have Swampert from Mudkip, which has a lack of weaknesses and generally better all around bulk, whereas Torterra's more physically inclined. I guess there's a bonus to each depending on what you want. Blaziken and Infernape are pretty much very easy mode, especially the former; while I'm unsure as to whether these events still exist, I believe Chespin and Tepig have out of starter events, so it's not exactly a good idea to pick them up; having the option three starters is nice if you're running a Fighting run. There isn't really a matter of superior choice when it comes to monotypes apart from their distribution. It means some runs have a harder time getting Pokemon of that type in comparison to other runs, in which some people can provide you by "trading" specific Pokemon into your files. If you want the type in which it's easiest to get tons of options Normal is your best bet; Flying is probably second easiest, and then say Dark, Fighting, Psychic and Ground. I'm not sure, this is just my opinion. Good luck.

She has some Pokemon that fare strongly against your Hariyama, so Fighting types aren't exactly your most reliable bet. If you have an ability Capsule, Flash Fire on Arcanine (although it has the possibility of swapping it into Justified as well, I can't say I'm too sure) would help a lot in sponging her attacks. Dragalge is also great against her given high Special Defense and resistances to most if not all of her moves. It's just scared of one thing on her team.

When I finished Black2 and beat the PWT in all forms, all types of battles against gyms and champions from all regions, in singles, doubles and triples. With only my in-game team.

I'll say this -- I defeated her Cradily with a level 20 Trubbish. I'm not lying. Cradily tends to try and either set up or heal a lot, so if you manage to put up early Toxic Spikes her longevity cuts down easily, and since she lost her Foongus, she has no defense against the Spikes. I didn't even need TSpikes for her Cradily, I just got a lucky Poison on my first Sludge as she set up Sandstorm (noting that my Trubbish outspeeds that Cradily with 0 investment in Speed and with a Bold Nature, 22 IV), proceeded to Acid Spray her to -6 while she became greedy in setting up Stockpiles before Recovering. Poison took it's toll and Sludge damage eventually took her out after she kept Recovering. She only managed to hit me with one Smack Down, which I very easily survived with around 55% of my health left.. I had a lucky Black Sludge, so I suppose it's not all that easy since the Sandstorm damage can be annoying. You can still do enough, noting that my Trubbish has a pretty low Special Attack IV as well. Apart from that, picking up Hariyama/Litleo/Numel helps in the long run -- Kricketune's good for this gym, but as you head to the new ward you're supposed to go, you'll find a better Pokemon to use in the from of Sewaddle, which evolves into Leavanny. It has higher Attack and Speed and Grass type moves too. If you want to evolve it through happiness go to the salons/massages in the Peridot Ward where you see the girl with the Vulpix.

Well, here's my character. It's kinda long, but I hope it'll suffice.

It's nice to see someone else try and commit this -- I've done this throughout all of my playthroughs, although if it comes to your starter Pokemon, you stick with a fixed +1 Attack and HP EV against Cain and Victoria. Good luck!

Pretty interesting RP, I'll see if I have the time to enter this after a pretty long while of being away from these forums. Is it possible for warriors to utilize one-handed swords without a shield, though? It's either two-handed stuff or one-handed with a shield. I could be wrong.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay in Reborn.

If you're post- Radomus I'll assume your Pokemon are in their mid-late 50s, or 60. For Greninja, you can only get Dark Pulse after you face a later gym after Radomus. Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. For the moment your Dark type options bail down to Night Slash (through Heart Scale tutor) or Feint Attack, although the former is obviously better. Shadow Sneak isn't that good on Greninja given how fast it is, little damage even with Protean, and the bad coverage it provides over other options. Greninja gets Hydro Pump at level 60, so be sure to pick that up, since you only get Surf in a pretty late stage of the game. If you're inclined to rebreed your Scrafty, you have a lot of options such as the elemental punches, Dragon Dance, and Bulk Up (could be wrong, but also you need episode 12) as options. I don't particularly object with it's current moveset. Noivern gets Boomburst which is a 140 BP move as an option through Heart Scale tutor as well as Hurricane -- you should pick them both up until you reach Flamethrower which is again a late-game thing. Roost is also a nice option to heal if you'd like, although Noivern appreciates the coverage more. I'm not sure if you're able to reach Route 2 yet, but it you can, you can pick up a Reaper Cloth there and use a Link Stone to get Dusknoir, in which you get the Elemental Punches as options. As you head into late game, Brick Break's also an option for the Ghost. I'd recommend you using your Budew since a Grass type fits your team pretty well. You have a lot of defensive synergy covered for it and at the same time Roserade's offensive presence (and if you breed things like Spikes/Sleep Powder on it, utility) is a nice addition to have on your team, in replacement of your Diggersby, since having a Fighting type and a Ground type on your team is personally fairly redundant. If you desire a strong Electric type, you actually have Heliolisk as an option, and it's actually obtainable early-mid game through an event. Debatably, some prefer Ampharos over Heliolisk, but I'd note it gets Thunderbolt naturally, learns Grass Knot through tutor, and is able to learn Surf late game, so I'd recommend this. Ampharos will help you still if you'd prefer the Bulk over Speed, noting that Heliolisk is better since your team is looking to benefit a lot from Rain with Greninja and Noivern. Dry Skin means you are immune to Water attacks unlike Ampharos and you heal from them and rain as well.

If Noibat was put later in-game, it probably would've been a better addition overall. Otherwise the early game means it's difficult to train effectively and does end up as "dead weight" during the mid game but ends up as a very worthy addition lategame.

It only works once against a direct attack, and even then won't save it from things such as passive damage from hazards, burns, toxic, weather and the like.

If there's something I could ask here, it would be as to how Pokemon and items between save files are modified. I'm not sure if this is something I should be asking, but given it's alright to do that I could always just pick things up from my old files. Any clarity is appreciated.

I'll PM you one separately. You can find Klink in the very small part of the underground below a house in the northwest of West Obsidia. EDIT: I'm aware I can pick up Flare Blitz, yeah. Unfortunately I have to go through a series of fairly tedious back and forths and only after I finish the Grand Stairway Quest. I'm also not sure if Fly is implemented yet, but it's also a pretty late feature to make things convenient.

I am aware of my current ground weakness, yes, but I'm not as concerned of that as of the current state of the game. Again I desire things that are obtainable at this point of the game, and I am aware of future options -- particularly more resilient Water types instead of Ducklett/Swanna. For now I'm alright with my composition, I just am picky with the quality of what I have. I find Masquerain better than Kricketune due to better bulk, Intimidate (which at the moment DOES help with my Ground weakness as well), as well as better options like Quiver Dance and Bug Buzz. If it weren't for the tutor rework it'd be destroying things right now, but Masquerain won't be a permanent or even a significant member as I proceed to the mid-game. Kiki I'm alright with to be honest. Garbodor helps most of the time apart from Medicham and I can always set up TSpikes to make things easier. Thanks either way, though. Are you able to do anything?

So it's been a long while again since I came back here and there. To this, I've noticed a lot of people do "trades", although some willingly manipulate files for specific Pokemon that one cannot attain at some point of the game. At this point I've replayed my game and am at Florinia with a pretty.....okay-ish team, I'd say. Here's what my current team comprises of: Monferno -- Level 25 (pre-Tangrowth), Naive with 31 Attack/27 Special Attack/30 Speed but bad overall defenses. Trubbish -- level 18, Bold with 31 HP and Special Defense and average other stats, with Defense sitting at 16 or so. Got a lucky Black Sludge on it, too. Onix -- level 18, Relaxed with 31 Attack and average other stats bar Speed, I think. Masquerain -- Level 23, Bold with bad (7) HP, and average other stats, the highest being 27 Defense with the rest sitting at around 18-22. Whismur -- Level 16, Lonely with 31 Attack, average other stats. Apart from that I do have a couple of baby Pokemon like Cleffa and Happiny in my box with pretty good IVs, if anyone likes them for breeding purposes. I also have a plentifully horded stock of Common Candy if need be, but I don't think I'll need them as of this point. Basically, I seek to improve my team within reason. I don't want Pokemon unobtainable at this point of the game but I seek improvement such as better IVs or moves with what I currently have. With the Move Tutor out of commission, there goes my plan of picking up Bug Buzz for Masquerain which would be useful for both Florinia and against the ZEL/Taka match, which through all of my matches I've always beeen weak against, although that's because I passively EV Train my Pokemon so I am pretty wary of what each of my Pokemon knocks out. Things I seek to improve: Monferno -- Better IVs would be good, and since Florinia doesn't give Grass Knot anymore there goes another coverage move. Particularly not so bad defenses even if they don't matter and 31 Speed. (I'm picky, lol) Although Infernapes here commonly run a pure physical set and there have been debates on things like ThunderPunch, I'll still stick with my mix factor particularly when I pick up Flamethrower through Charlotte, unless someone can provide Flamethrower/Fire Blast as of now, in which would be great. Grass Knot I still want as a coverage move though (helped tons against Terra), so I might need links for old Reborn games (sorry if this is, well, prohibited.) Klink -- I've honestly been considering picking up a Klink because I've used a a Klinklang to great effect in BW2, as well as being backup for Florinia's Cradily. I forsee it being pretty good as a teammate even if it evolves late. I'll try and grind this myself, but should anyone possess one -- particularly any + Attack nature that isn't Brave or an Impish one -- that'd be great as well. Honestly anything that can be caught up until this point of the game that has good IVs will work for me -- my early game started off okay, but not as smoothly as the previous rounds I've been through, considering that most of my Pokemon are underleveled and I placed too much emphasis on Monferno as usual. Training is fine, but again -- EV obsession. Thanks in advance to anyone who is willingly to provide me with assistance. I shall insert my rx.data file as I obtain a response.

Yeah, that's probably a bit too complex, so while reliable, I guess I'll try to be less picky when it comes to IVs, although I've seen quite a few players in Team Showcase that have like...tons of them. Thanks though.
-
I believe you were the one that made the thread initially? I thought it's something that's not built into the game, but apparently uses, well -- save files. How does it actually work?
-
Oh, thanks. For the moment I guess I'm reseting for a decent IVed/Natured starter for the moment, though. I've seen people with 31 across the board stuff, knowing that it's through breeding, but, well -- how do people get the parents for this stuff, actually? Thanks.
-
Thanks. Wow, all three of these are early-game grabs now? I mean, Magikarp I know, but the other two? Wow. Pardon me if I misunderstand. I'll probably play from scratch instead.

So.....I've not touched this game for a whooping 4-5 episodes due to IRL business, but now that I have some air, I'm finally back in action. My name's YagamiNoir, although I'm commonly known by one name (Yagami or Noir). Do as you please. As a result of the long time I've been away from this game, I kinda don't have a clue what to do post-Julia battle. Any tips and advice on building a reasonable in-game team would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It has been a long while since I'd last played this game, more on less come on forums due to IRL events that I need to settle. But now I've returned with required help on a new team. Before I begin, let's just say that I've been playing quite some Nuzlocke Runs already, and use the same starter as my last showcase due to Greninja and Blaziken easily sweeping things that made the game less of challenge. I'm aware of the accessibility of the Grass starters mid-to-late game, the other Fire starters not suiting my forte, and Swampert/Feraligatr also fared decently. Note that I do not want to run a Nuzlocke for this and instead now prefer to make a team as competitively based as possible. For now, I've just begun my journey with two Pokemon, and require help particularly for the Team Meteor factory quest -- specifically, what other Pokemon are accessible that can aid me throughout this time round. I intend to make my Pokemon EV Trained, too, although that's not something that's really capable of being done strictly early game. Well, as always, this guy's my starter. He's currently level 17 with 29/24/23/25/28/27 IVs, Naive Nature and Iron Fist, with Taunt/Ember/Fury Swipes/Mach Punch. Hit fast, hit hard, like always. Amidst my disappointment of the Ralts replacement, I've found her really good thus far. At level 13, she surprised me with whopping 20/15/31/31/26/28 IVs despite a Docile Nature, and Competitive as an ability (although from what I've experienced, doesn't work thus far.) She has currently Pound/Tickle/Confusion/Fake Tears, and may level her up for Psybeam to face Julia later.. Looking at a few past pages, I've heard there's Onix from here thus far, but I'm unsure of where to get it. Headbutt may also add to the variety of what's accessible, but again, I don't know if it's accessible at the moment (after the update anyways.) Recommendations would be nice. Thanks in advance, and will be updated as time passes.

Admittedly I'm lacking in the world building department, but relatively know of how some fictional worlds are and their uniqueness in the story. The world is the background you make in one story, and personally I'd prefer to not hold back on possibilities and let my own creation run wild -- you can literally add anything you want, and what I personally do would be to follow my instinct and ask, "would this bring about interest?" or "would placing this be too complex or inappropriate as a background? Personally, world building is like making a sketch in a picture-- without this guideline, what you continue to add next may result in something messy and unorganized. Basic traits that need to be added into what you want to create a world are it's main characteristics, specifically how it distinguishes itself from real life and other worlds to make it unique. People there, for instance, I find more significant than most -- people can not be people but creatures/aliens or so forth, and you don't need to give special superpowers (although very cool) to make the people in a story unique. A world also doesn't necessarily need to be entirely human based as there are things like animal characters, much like Pokemon itself although humans do play a significant role in that. Once a background and sketch is established, what appears in the story, more specifically what and who makes the plot for it, should be taken into account first, although most of the time I only do it roughly and don't go so far into details. Thereafter characters are made, events, past, present and future, come next, again, speculatively -- although most of the time when I write something, I tend to think of events and what sort of character would be more suitable, and don't precisely establish a detailed character until a solid plot comes into my head. Time of the story is also important, as it may be in the future with the story mostly explaining about past events, again a flow and backbone that leads to a solid story.
