    Jory nodded. "Aye, sir!" he shouted, jumping at the terrified Ralts and unleashing a Tail Slap that hit it four times with two critical hits. The Ralts gave a cry and fell over, unable to battle anymore. The Minccino stopped, breathing heavily, and looked over to Jake. "You okay, bud?"

    Jory's Tail Slap connected a resounding four times with one critical hit. The Exeggutor wobbled unsteadily but stayed up. A greenish energy tether connected it to Jake. "Watch out! It's using Mega Drain!" Jory said frantically, launching another Tail Slap against his foe, this one landing three times.

    Just to clarify, Jacob thinks that Kage just has REALLY bad vision. Like the difference between someone who's 20/100 and someone who's legally blind.

    Jacob paused for a moment. A seeing-eye dog? What's that supposed to mean? he wondered to himself, not daring to break the palpable tension in the air. He'd noticed that Kage had been acting a little bit strangely, but had simply chalked it up to differences in culture between Unova and Hoenn. Unless... he thought to himself. It would make sense, although I'm not sure why he'd hide it. Teo trotted out of the room behind Jacob, a huge smile gracing his frosting-covered mandibles. The Trainer looked down and noticed this with a panicked look. "Teo, tell me you didn't! Tell me you didn't just eat every single one of my cupcakes!" he said quickly, lifting his old friend off the ground. Teo belched in his Trainer's face, a small chunk of cupcake hitting Jacob squarely on the cheek. "That's it. There is no Arceus. I'm calling it quits on life." He turned to the other teens. "I'd brought cupcakes for everyone, but Teo decided he didn't want to share." He put the Trapinch down and sighed, trying to remember what they'd been talking about. He snapped his fingers and looked at Ryan. "You were just about to tell me that Kage has trouble seeing, right?" He turned to his roommate. "That's probably something you should have told me yourself."

    Jacob poked his head out of the door. His hair was wet and unkempt, but as his entire body exited the door it became apparent that he was clothed in a blue and gray horizontally striped v-neck t-shirt and a pair of white cargo shorts, as well as a pair of flip-flops. "Kage, who the hell are you talking to-" he began, then noticed Ryan. "Oh, hey Ryan! Kage and I are roommates, dontcha know!" He laughed and walked out to greet the other two, combing his hair as he did so. "You ran off before I could say hello earlier. But don't let me interrupt. How's Glacien adjusting?"

    Jory immediately jumped in, landing a Tail Slap that hit a resounding four times, one of which was a critical hit! The Alakazam wobbled on its legs and tipped over, clearly incapacitated from the surprise attack. "Now, let's get the tree!" Jory shouted, jumping toward the Exeggutor with a Tail Slap ready to land.

    Something on the table caught Jacob's eye and he leaned into inspect it, ignoring Kage's question for the moment. He was delighted to find two Pokedexes stacked on top of one another and each of the Trainers' books. "Hang on, Kage, there's important stuff here. I'll take the top Pokedex," he said quickly, grabbing the red Pokedex off the top of the pile as well as his books. "I think we're just claiming rooms." Jacob got up and walked to the rear of the apartment, poking his head into each of the simple bedrooms and returning to the sitting area. "Seeing as they're both identical, I'll take the one on the right. You can have the one on the left. I'm gonna jump in the shower. We should make sure we get something to eat before we head to the Contest Hall." With that, Jacob walked into his room and closed the door, preparing to get ready to shower.

    Jacob smiled at Kage, who had been successful in catching his gaze. "Not an issue. Sometimes I have the same problem. And Accumula Town is pretty cool, I guess. It's a slow place and not much goes on at night, but it's very safe. Much safer than it was back when Team Plasma was around. It's really close to Castelia, so sometimes my friends and I went into the city to go for dinner. I'd say that's the best aspect of it." He paused for a moment, thinking of something else to say. "What's Mossdeep City like? Have you been to the Space Center?"

    Dru simply sat at the table, his mouth hanging wide open in shock. Bartimis's appearance in the room took everything Dru knew (or thought he had known) about the divines and threw it through the tallest window in the nearest vicinity, then ran it over with several horse-drawn coaches. What in the actual hell is going on here? he thought to himself. It's one thing for the Divines to reach out to one in a dream. It's another thing entirely for one of them to heed the call of a mortal and actually appear on this plane of reality. Who knows what the consequences could be?

    Jacob smiled and followed the other teen down the hall, progressing toward their room. "Yeah, you're right about that. I'm not from Hoenn. I actually came here all the way from Accumula Town in the Unova Region," he replied, curious about the other trainer's origins. He looked at the other young man. Something was definitely off about him, but he couldn't pinpoint what. The pair reached their dorm, and Jacob approached the door with his key in hand. "Don't worry, bud, I got this." After fiddling with the lock and key for a moment, he got the door to open and strolled in. Jacob was taken aback by the grandeur of the room. It was infinitely larger than his room at home and seemed to be a complete living space. He smiled and entered, putting his bags down on the couch. When he turned to invite the other teenager in, he finally realized what was so off about his new roommate. "Hey, Kage, we're indoors! You don't need to wear your shades!"

    Because I have a life outside of things I do on my computer...? Anyway, yeah I figured it wasn't too weird because at home my front door faces East, so I actually walk outside with shades on pretty frequently.

    Jacob smiled at the other trainer. "I'm in 027 as well. I guess we're going to be roommates, then!" The Unovan boy chuckled and continued walking toward the dorm. After a bit, the building came into sight. The trainer opened the door to the dorms and held it for his roommate as Teo walked near Lucas, prodding him curiously with his closed mandibles. "So, where are you from? And is there anything I can call you that's shorter than your given name?"

    Jacob chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, I've got my map right here. What do you say we head on over there right now?" he asked the other student, happy to help the other Trainer. He gestured for the other boy to follow and began speaking as he was looking at his map. "What room are you?"

    Jacob blinked rapidly, unable to process Ryan's apparent enthusiasm for meeting new people at the expense of actually getting more than five words across to each of them. Jacob sighed and turned to the other boy, the one with the Ralts, as Teo looked on closely. "Hey, what's your name? And what program are you in? I'm in the Trainer program."

    I want a response from YOU AND MURDOC. HAHA ONEUPMANSHIP. But seriously, Glacien and Teo seem like they'd be great friends. They both like food.

    Jacob tapped his foot impatiently. He'd been waiting in line for nearly twenty minutes already, and although the queue was moving quickly he was anxious to get inside and begin his career as a Pokemon Trainer. His parents had said goodbye at the airport in Castelia City, where the young man had boarded a plane bound for Lilycove. From there he took a ferry to the Ymora Region and local transportation to the school. So, after many long hours of traveling, he was understandably tired. At least he hadn't had to make the journey alone, though. A light tapping on his calf derailed his train of thought and the aspiring Trainer looked down at his companion. Jacob chuckled and took a pink PokeBlock out of the side pocket of his backpack, dropping it into the eagerly awaiting jaws of his Trapinch and having a chuckle as Teo's huge jaws tried to process the chewy treat. "Couldn't even make it to the cafeteria, huh buddy? Maybe you should've been born a Munchlax!" At that, his companion made a plaintive sound, but continued chewing his treat. "Next!" shouted the person at the desk in front of Jacob. The young trainer stepped up to the desk and handed in his forms, distracted by the formation of a small group of students. After being handed his key, he decided to approach them, his Trapinch wobbling slightly as he hurried to keep up with his Trainer. He approached a boy with a Spheal and another with a Ralts, looking down at Teo. The Trapinch didn't appear to care and was still working hard to get the last of the pink PokeBlock out of his mandibles. "Hey guys, I'm Jacob, and this is Teo. I figured why_not try to make some friends on the first day, right?" he said cheerfully, following his mom's advice to smile and be positive.

    Jory examined the room, giving it a few looks over before deciding on a strategy. "Alright, listen up. That Alakazam is the most dangerous foe over there. Provided we take that out first and then immediately move to Exeggutor, we shouldn't run into any problems. If that Ralts tries anything stupid, I'll be over there to feed it a Tail Slap in a heartbeat. Lead with Night Slash. Ready?"

    We've drawn up monos with all of our types. Similar to how not everything used in OU will be in OU, not everything you try to pick will be specifically from your tier.
