  1. That's what I said. I shouldn't have to have my Pokemon using ridiculous attacks like these just to land them. 101 should actually be OHKO'd by the 4x super effective attack from a Pokemon with one or two levels on it. But, you know, if more godmodding is gonna happen then so be it. EDIT: I'm done posting for tn. I have friends over.
  2. The explosion did not hit Teo effectively, as it was cushioned by the sand. Teo's attack landed perfectly, hitting the Magnemite squarely in the middle of its body with the full force of the Sand Tomb ascent and Teo's own Dig attack. The Trapinch then fell to the ground, landing in the pile of sand created by the pillar. Teo got up on shaky legs and set his stance, letting out a triumphant "Pinch!", as he was still able to battle but clearly took damage from the exchange.
  3. Jacob sighed. "Teo, defensive maneuver 'Dig to Kanto'" The Trapinch complied, digging far down into the sand and staying put, waiting for further orders. Jacob snapped his fingers, having figured out what to do about the problem. "Teo, use Sand Tomb and Dig to ascend!" A large bulb could be seen forming in the sand. Suddenly, Teo shot out of the ground, a pillar of sand propelling him far faster than the Magnemite's ascent. The Trapinch quickly advanced up the sand pillar toward the Magnemite, protected by the massive onrush of sand from a potential attack. "Use Dig as the sand reaches it! Go!" Jacob shouted, encouraging his Pokemon. The sand pillar rapidly reached the Magnemite's elevation, with the oncoming Trapinch not far behind.
  4. Teo gave a startled cry as he was launched into the air by the attack. Two of the three sonic waves hit the Trapinch, beginning a spin. Jacob smiled broadly. "Teo, use Glass Castle!" he ordered. Teo slowed himself in midair and dropped quickly back to the ground. A funnel of sand rose up to greet him, firing him quickly into the ground. Suddenly, a huge wave of sand rose up and collapsed inward, trapping the Magnemite from all directions. "Now finish him off with your newly learned attack, Dig!" Jacob shouted. Teo began burrowing toward the Magnemite while underground, his whereabouts unknown. Jacob began to count under his breath. "1... 2... 3..."
  5. Jacob laughed. He has no idea what he's up against. "Teo, get underground! Head straight for TX-101!" he shouted. Teo complied, immediately burrowing into the sand and heading straight for the Magnemite. The Magnet Bombs harmlessly hit the ground above him, unable to break through the thick layer of topsoil that the Trapinch was under. His Trainer began counting, and once he hit three he gave the order. "Teo, Sand Tomb! Lock that Magnemite in!" he said loudly. Suddenly, a huge plume of sand flew out of the ground underneath the enemy, surrounding him in a swirling vortex of sand.
  6. I'm correct in assuming that TX-101 doesn't know Flash Cannon yet, right...? RIGHT???? D:
  7. Jacob paused. He'd been sure that Slade was going to lead with Flare. Hmm... I don't want to send Chalchi out to get KO'd, but if I send in Teo I'll look like a jerk for picking a Pokemon with such a huge type advantage, he thought to himself. This is a tough decision, but there are BP on the line. I'm going for the victory, he decided. He grabbed a Poke Ball off of his belt and took a deep breath. "Sorry to do this to you, Slade, but you asked for it by sending in TX-101 first! Teo, come on out!" he shouted, launching the ball into the air. When it opened its capsule released its visual effects, producing a cloud of deep red sand that sparkled in the sunlight as it drifted down to the ground. Teo landed on his feet. "Trapinch!" he said excitedly, hopping between his feet. "Since you have the type disadvantage you can move first," Jacob said, ready to battle.
  8. Jacob nodded and prepared for the battle, checking that his Pokemon were at full health and would be able to continue battling for the entirety of their match. Satisfied with this information, he nodded to Slade. "Sounds good to me!" He's definitely got a plan if he wanted to do singles so badly. I'll need to be on my toes, he thought to himself, trying to read the other boy. But there's only so much he can do with the team he has right now. I definitely have the advantage as far as type goes, so let's see what happens. "If you're ready to start, we can."
  9. Lux smiled, continuing to walk toward the door to the estate with Beverly on his arm. "Well, I'm a leader now. I have to be able to deal with people. Especially in situations like this where keeping a low profile is absolutely key." Lux couldn't help but notice that as they approached the estate, the concentration of guards seemed to increase. "He's definitely inside. Let's get this done. Ace and Kenny have probably already completed their mission, but we don't even know where our guy is yet." Eventually, the pair reached the door to the estate and walked in.
  10. Jacob pumped his fist, an excited gleam in his eye. "You know I'd never joke about anything as serious as a battle with my training partner, especially with my reputation as a battler on the line! If I'm going to be a top competitor in the Ymora League, then I have to push myself to win every match. You're on, Slade." Teo gurgled in excitement. He was happy to get a little payback on that Growlithe for hitting him with that Flame Burst. Chalchi looked thoughtfully at the other Trainer's Magnemite, eyeing it warily. It's slow, she thought to herself. But Jacob already knows that. He knows that knowledge is key to being a good Trainer. Jacob looked at his Pokemon and smiled. Chalchi sighed. Of course he wants us to make an entrance. It's all a part of his battle plan, though, so we'll have to go along with it for now... she lamented. Just a boring, regular Poke Ball. What's so great about that? she wondered. Jacob pressed the return button on both of his Poke Balls and walked over to a position on the battlefield, waiting for Slade to do the same. "What do you say to a friendly wager, buddy? How about twenty BP?" he asked, grinning like a madman. This battle should be good, he thought to himself. I'll be able to use the combo attacks that we've been working on if it's Doubles, and if it's Singles then I don't think either of his Pokemon can take on Teo one-on-one. My oldest friend is turning out to be an absolute monster for people to face down, he thought, chuckling. But I want Chalchi to get some training in as well. I'll just have to play it by ear, he decided, beginning to develop strategies for each situation.
  11. ExLink, please keep your OOC in here. It makes my organized self cry.
  12. Jacob smiled as Slade was able to get Flare to make his Flame Bursts more effective. "See? If you train easily, you'll never be strong! Training is all about overcoming whatever obstacles are in your way, whether they be mental or physical." Jacob tossed Teo an Oran Berry and the Trapinch ate it quickly, the small scorch marks on his tough hide disappearing as he scarfed down the Berry. "I'd recommend practicing like that every day! And Teo, don't think you're off the hook! You shouldn't have gotten hit by those Flame Bursts. I know you're limited by your legs, but if you want to get strong enough to be a Flygon then we need to strive for perfection!" he said enthusiastically. Teo gurgled in agreement, hopping from foot to foot to demonstrate his agility. He then turned to Danielle, who was red-faced after Slade's praise. That's weird. I've never known her to be embarrassed by compliments, he thought to himself, noting her change in behavior. Eh. Probably just a girl thing. Best not to overthink it, he thought to himself, Danielle's reaction still nagging at the back of his mind. "I think that's enough training for today," Jacob said with a smile on his face. "Does anyone want to battle us?"
  13. Slade, you can shoot as many things as you want. Teo's been doing this training for almost 6 weeks and is actually at the level cap (aka 20, because I'm an ass like that). He's more than capable of dodging those Flame Bursts without direction from Jacob. And even if he gets hit, Jacob has Oran Berries on hand. Go nuts with bunnying him for the training exercise. Please don't RP an injury; we don't need that right before the trip.
  14. Jacob chuckled at how hesitant Slade was being with his attacks. "It's not practice if you don't make it hard for Teo!" he called to the other Trainer as Teo easily sidestepped the fire, tapping his feet expectantly. Chalchi's attacks were fired in way more rapid succession. Unless Slade picks it up, this is going to be pointless for Teo. "Slade, you need to have Flare put more pressure on Teo. If you take this much time to pick your shots when there isn't another Pokemon attacking yours, you've as good as lost! Now let's go, pick up the pace!" Jacob shouted, now completely in 'coaching mode.' Chalchi shook her head, feeling sorry for Slade and Flare. As she'd learned in the past six weeks, Jacob's training exercises were quite rigorous and demanded as much from their participants as could possibly be given. But he's also kind and gentle and intelligent, Chalchi thought to herself. He pushes us only as hard as he pushes himself. And the more he expects from us, the more we deliver. I'm glad he picked me, she thought happily, looking over at Danielle. Over the past several weeks Chalchi had noticed that Jacob felt rather strongly about Danielle. But she'd also noticed the way Danielle looked at the other boy, Slade. He's going to get hurt, she thought sadly. It's not her fault. She's allowed to choose who she likes.
  15. Lux inclined his head toward the stranger in thanks before steering Beverly away from the group. He once again leaned in to speak in hushed tones. "Let's head inside and ask around for a bit more info. Now laugh like I've said something funny," he said quickly, a big fake smile on his face.
  16. Jacob nodded to Slade. "Sure thing, bud. Lana, Mareek, it was nice to meet you. You're obviously welcome to come train with us if you'd like," he said with a smile before walking over to his Pokemon and taking a position off to the side of Teo so as not to be in Flare's line of fire. "Alright, Slade, the way this works is simple. You heard me tell Chalchi what to do earlier. Same concept, but let's work on that Flame Burst of yours," he said enthusiastically. If there was one thing Jacob loved, it was helping to teach his peers how to be better Trainers for their Pokemon. "Teo, I know you're a little tired, but we're working on building your endurance. That way when you evolve no one will be able to catch up to you!" Teo nodded and gurgled excitedly, preparing to dive. "Whever you're ready, go!" he said to Slade. I barely even have to coach Teo at this anymore. It's nice having a Pokemon as smart as I am.
  17. Jacob smiled at Slade, nodding. "Of course Flare can practice! I'll just ask you to have him going at half power so that if he hits Teo, we can just give him an Oran Berry and get right back to it." He looked over to his Pokemon and at his stopwatch, which had just ticked to the ten minute mark. "Perfect timing, too!" He immediately whistled loudly, causing both of his Pokemon to stop what they were doing and approach him. Over the past six weeks, Chalchi had grown substantially and was now taller than Jacob. She had also developed an annoying habit of moving around by using Freeze Dry on the ground under her and sliding along the ice, which had resulted in more than one other student slipping behind her. "Alright, Chalchi, you get a break. Teo, you're going to do the same thing for Flare." The Trapinch gurgled happily and went back to the battlefield, ready to train some more. Jacob then approached Danielle and her roommate, as well as Slade's roommate. "Hey, guys," he said to them happily, a huge grin on his face. "Training's going really well. When he evolves fully, I don't think there'll be any Flygon able to outspeed Teo. Even as a Trapinch he's able to outspeed a lot of other Pokemon," he said excitedly, then remembered he didn't even know Danielle or Slade's roommates. "I'm Jacob, by the way," he said quickly, extending a hand to Danielle's roommate a nod of acknowledgement to Slade's.
  18. Jacob smiled, content with his choice of new Pokemon and his packing ability. Well, I did set the high score on the Tetris machine in the Accumula Town Arcade... he thought to himself, chuckling at his spacial relations skills. Teo shook his head sleepily, unable to handle how hard his master was apparently able to geek out over packing of all things. Chalchi stuck her head into the room, emitting a small cry to get Jacob's attention. Her Trainer looked at her and Chalchi held up Jacob's alarm clock in her mouth. Oh, shoot! I'm late for training! he thought, beginning to panic. He quickly got dressed and returned Chalchi to her ball, scooping up Teo without a problem and sprinting out the door toward the practice field. Once he arrived, he was pleased to find Slade already training. "Hey, buddy! Is Danielle here yet?" he asked, panting lightly from the run to the field. He scanned the area, answering his own question. "Okay, I guess that's a no." He then let Chalchi out of her ball and sent Teo to the other end of the field. "Alright, guys, let's do some practice! Chalchi, I want you to fire Water Guns at half power at Teo, who's going to be digging into the ground to avoid you. The catch is that Teo isn't allowed to stay under for more than 5 seconds at a time. We'll do this for ten minutes, then take a break. Let's go, guys!" he said loudly, clapping his hands. His Pokemon began to get to work, Teo diving into the soil and popping out as Chalchi tried to hit him with Water Guns. The two Pokemon had bonded closely over the past six weeks and Chalchi loved her new Trainer. As far as friends went, Jacob's feelings toward Danielle were begin to flow from romantic ones to friendlier ones. It wasn't that he didn't think everything about her was perfect; it was an inner acknowledgement of the fact that she didn't return his feelings. Ryan and Jacob had continued to be quite close throughout the term, as Kage and Ryan were together a lot. He thought Slade was an awesome guy, and his Pokemon were strong training partners for Jacob's. Overall, everything was going great.
  19. Apparently Jacob's face is going to be red for the whole trip.
  20. Jacob stood over his suitcase, trying to decide what else he needed to pack. Hmm.... Maybe I need more underwear? he thought to himself, completely at a loss as to what to do. Teo was curled up on a pillow on Jacob's bed, snoring gently as he slept. Chalchi was relegated to the common room, as she wouldn't physically fit in Jacob's. She watched her Trainer pack intently, unsure of where they were going. And so, finally, she gave an inquisitive cry. Jacob turned around and laughed at the head in his doorway. "Don't worry Chalchi, you're coming with me! The whole class is taking a trip to the Boulder Hills. They're gonna go catch some Dragon-type Pokemon and learn about them in their natural habitat. But I think we have enough Dragons on our team with Teo here," he said quietly, trying not to wake the Trapinch. Chalchi nodded understandingly and continued to watch her Trainer pack from the doorway. What should I catch? I need another team member, but it needs to be one I can catch in the mountains, he pondered. The young Trainer slipped his PokeDex out of his pocket and began looking through the National Dex. However, he stopped only one scroll down and grinned like an idiot. "Yeah..." he said aloud. "That'll do. That'll do just fine."
  21. Jacob chuckled as the Magnemite shocked Slade. He knew the Pokemon wouldn't do anything to seriously harm his trainer. He then looked over at the two and smiled. "Yeah, I guess we could do some training! But we need to figure something out for Chalchi so that she can get trained, too!
