I refuse to live in a country where you're allowed to hire someone to stab you in the face with a needle full of the most toxic substance on Earth but you're not allowed to smoke God's Lettuce. Honestly, it's goddamn ridiculous. How is it that our country (the USA for those of you who don't live in the greatest country ever) went from allowing ownership of other human beings to saying "you can't grow this plant" within a hundred years? Did our government really become such a helicopter parent that we felt the need to allow them to strip away the right to purchase and use certain products as we see fit? And another thing. What the fuck is up with the fact that alcohol, which is responsible for thousands of deaths a year, is legal, but marijuana (which is safe compared to alcohol) can get you up to a month in prison. Shit's crazy, man. It's not right.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

Jacob sighed, looking down at Spitfyre's Poke Ball. The Charmander hadn't acclimated to him nearly as quickly as Chalchi had. In fact, he hadn't done so at all. The small flame lizard was proving to be a particularly obstinate Pokemon. Each time he came out of his Ball he would simply stare Jacob down until the Trainer returned him, frustrated after his commands fell on deaf ears. However, when he saw the Bagons, Jacob got an idea. What if he needs a win? the Trainer thought to himself. Teo and I beat him pretty badly. He's prideful, so maybe that's the issue. The Trainer looked toward Devin only to see the Dragon master was occupied by Claude. He walked over and patiently waited for a moment before speaking up. "Sorry to interrupt, but I have a question too. I caught a Charmander earlier today, but he just won't listen to me. Should I try using him in a battle or having him sit on the sidelines and watch my other Pokemon?" -

Ghost should certainly not be Generally Not Very Effective. Not all insects are part of a hive mind. Take for example the humble dragonfly. From birth to death it is a solitary animal that focuses solely on hunting and reproduction, similar to many mammals and other invertebrates. I would say that in specific instances (Beedrill, Durant, etc.) this should be the case, but not the norm.- 1189 replies

Dru laughed, clapping the old Dwarf on the back and smiling broadly. "Yes, my friend. I met them both during my travels in the Shadowed Isles. We have all been traveling together since the incident at Brinestar, but Lady Jupiter did not join us until we reached Passthrough." Upon saying the last part, Dru frowned. "Flint, my old friend... We have discovered something truly disconcerting. An evil is stirring, one so dark that the very fate of Graterras hangs in the balance. We will speak more of it later, but suffice to say that we are going to need all the help we can get." He then looked back toward the group and cleared his throat. "Let's get moving. We need to find a safer place to make camp by nightfall," he said, beckoning to them to begin on their way again."

Jacob laughed as the playful Pokemon grabbed him gently by his hand. The Trainer was immediately grateful that he'd worn gloves for the trip, as he could feel the sharpness of the small Dragon's teeth even through his handwear. Teo immediately picked up on the game and got underneath a Tyrunt, lifting it up on his back and carrying it around. The wild Tyrunt was at first startled and flailed around comically, but eventually it cried out happily and lay flat on the Trapinch's back. As he played with the Tyrunt Jacob looked down at his belt and smiled. He hit the release button on Chalchi and Spitfyre's balls, causing them to be released among the Tyrunt in a flash of light. The friendly Lapras cried out happily as the saw all the playful Tyrunt and began playing with one by putting her neck down and allowing him to jump over it. Another began climbing on her back and slid down her fin, landing in a heap on the ground. It promptly got back up and began climbing again. However, Spitfyre simply stood with his arms crossed and glared at Jacob. The young Trainer frowned. Well, at least he's staying out of his ball this time. ========================================================================================================================== The blue ball of fire flew over Jacob and Teo and hit a boulder behind them, smashing it in a rather spectacular explosion of pebbles and dust. The Trainer jumped to his feet and grinned at the Charmander, preparing for battle. “You’re pretty tough. But you’ll see that we’ve got what it takes, right Teo?” The Trapinch nodded, growling at the Charmander. “Alright, Teo! Lead off by Digging underground!” Jacob shouted. The Trapinch jumped in the air and pointed its mouth downward, burrowing into the earth as it hit the ground. The Charmander looked from side to side warily, taking a combat stance. It growled lowly, inviting an attack. “Trap it with a Sand Tomb!” the Trainer ordered. A cyclone of sand began to circle around the Charmander, slowly closing in on it. The flame lizard took a step back, startled by the sudden attack from an invisible enemy. It began to cover its face, attempting to protect itself from the stinging flurry of sand. “Quick, while he’s off guard! Hit him from below!” The Trapinch burrowed rapidly upward, slamming into the Charmander from below in a flurry of limbs and gravel. It was sent flying rapidly backward as it spun through the air, the force of the blow evident from the sheer distance the Charmander traveled. The flame lizard rolled backward, ending up in a heap on the ground. It struggled to its feet, roaring a challenge at Teo. Its claws suddenly took on a shiny metallic tone and it charged at the Trapinch. “Now, Teo, this is the moment! Use Strength!” The Trapinch set its legs and opened its jaws, prepared to receive the attack. The Charmander leapt through the air toward Teo, swinging its claws furiously. As the two collided there a large cloud of dust was thrown up and Jacob had to shield his eyes. As he looked up coughing, he saw Teo standing over the Charmander. The Trapinch was breathing heavily and the Charmander lay exhausted on the ground, unable to continue battling. Jacob grinned. “You’re gonna fit in perfectly,” he said quietly, pressing a Poke Ball to the Fire-type’s head. ========================================================================================================================= Jacob sighed, shaking his head at the Charmander. I just don’t understand why he’s so obstinate. I’ve tried PokeBlocks, I’ve tried introducing him to Teo and Chalchi… Nothing seems to work, though. -

I think the basis behind Fighting and Dark is that "Fighting" is roughly equivalent to "noble" or "light" in Japanese, and that good will always triumph over evil. Despite it being scifi, I kind of like the idea that a righteous, positively driven aura would be able to drown out one based on fear and deceit.- 1189 replies

Dru shook his head at Sigurd. The poor lad will never get on with anyone if he keeps up the brash attitude, he thought to himself, stifling a laugh at Flint's indignance. "I am glad Spindal did not accompany you. It would have killed the old man if I of all people had rescued him," he said, his expression remaining deadpan. "And don't you think I didn't see you fall out of that tree, Little Flintie," he joked as his usually gravelly tone turned to a happier one. "Still, I didn't expect to see anyone from the Encampment all the way out here. You should travel with us for a time. It'd be safer than on your own, and if the Orcs come back I'm sure they won't be happy that I've returned."

The Awakened - First Pillar (IC Thread)
Jory replied to Flux's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Lux scanned the room as the small group made their way toward the stairs, beginning to look at the people he'd registered as threats early on. The man in white seemed to react to their movement, indicating that he was, as Lux had presumed, some type of government security. The other man at the bar who had made a scene hadn't seemed to notice that they left, and the Bartender acknowledged them as they walked by. Once they reached the top of the stairs, Lux leaned over and whispered to Beverly once more. "I have a bad feeling about this. I'll stay outside and keep lookout. Make sure you get everything we need from him." The woman nodded, staying in the room with Mr. Taylor. She sauntered toward him and put her hand gently on his wrist, squeezing it playfully. She batted her eyelashes and looked up at the man, studying him. Not a bad looking one at all. It's a shame he won't remember me, she thought to herself. She leaned up and whispered in the man's ear, "Tell me everything you know about The Pillar and the government's reaction to its appearance. You have ten minutes," as she reached down to her brooch and behind it, hitting a small "On" button for the embedded recording device. -
Jory grinned as Surge assigned him his squad. Ever since the events at the tarmac, Jory had begun to undergo a change. There was no longer a pit in his stomach when he entered battle. Instead, it was a hunger, and one that was no longer held back by his concern for his own well-being. Seeing injustice and being able to act on it was the greatest feeling he had ever had. The adrenaline rush of combat was like nothing the young man had ever felt before. It wasn't just exciting; it was downright addictive. Logan's interruption shook him from his reverie and the Corporal nodded, taking stock of the situation. "Alright guys, here's the plan. We're going to sneak around back and get up into the woodline. From there, we should be able to move around the enemies' lines and hit them where they'll never see us coming. We move on my mark." The Corporal watched from his position, waiting for Pimparella to begin her dirt barrage. Once she did, he turned to his squad and barked his order. "Move it, move it, move it!" he shouted, poking his rifle over cover and providing suppressing fire so his team could move toward the woodline. "Once you get to that cover, provide cover fire for me to move up!" pointing to cover on the way to the woods.

Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]
Jory replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Chaaarrrr....." The echo sounded through the cave as Jacob walked with Teo through the rock formation. Suddenly, he stopped and put his finger to his lips. "Hear that, Teo? That's Charmander's cry!" The student grinned wildly and picked up his Trapinch, looking to his left. The rocks formed a natural staircase, making it safe to ascend. The Trainer looked to his partner for confirmation. The Trapinch nodded its large jaws, gurgling lowly in anticipation. Wow... My first capture attempt, and it's a Charmander! This is gonna be tough! he thought to himself, remembering all he'd read about people trying to catch the Flame Pokemon. He continued to go upward toward a lighter area, which seemed to indicate the presence of an exit. As Jacob crested the top step, he was let out onto a ramp that came up the side of a rocky outcropping. He slowly walked along it, his head spinning as he looked down at the area around him. "Easy... Easy..." he said quietly to himself, relieved when he finally made it to the top of the rocky area. There were several Pokemon up there, but only one caught the Trainer's eye. "There you are..." he muttered, setting Teo down. He looked at his Trapinch. "Let's get this guy right now, alright? I'll lead with a Poke Ball." Jacob burst from cover and reached to his belt, taking off a free Poke Ball and expanding it in his hand. He flung it toward the Charmander, aiming squarely for its back. Suddenly, the Charmander slapped the ball out of the air with its tail and turned around, glaring at Teo and Jacob. It inhaled a large amount of air, then fired a huge ball of blue flames directly at the Trainer and his Trapinch. "Oh, for fuck's sake!" Jacob said loudly, diving on top of Teo as the Dragon Rage narrowly missed him. "This isn't gonna be easy, bud!" -
Dru stood speechless, gazing up at the golem. When they'd first arrived, the half-Orc had simply assumed that his eyes had played a trick on him from afar. However, hearing the voice emanating from the creature cemented the speaker's identity. Especially the way he still calls me his little boy... the sorcerer grumbled inwardly. I've been around far too many seasons for this. Still, having friends return from the grave is always a welcome surprise.. "Yes, I know him," the half-Orc said, sighing as he approached the golem. "The lunatic who controls this golem and I know each other quite well, actually." He then turned his attention to the golem, extending a palm toward it and grinning. "You've gotten sloppy. If we hadn't come by, those savages might've picked Anchor Flint apart."

Pokémon Academy: Ch 2a: Dragons [IC]

Jacob breathed heavily, tired out after the tough run from Brendan's location to the caves on the Western side. He wiped sweat from his forehead using his arm, shaking his head to clear it of fatigue. Shortly after, he reached down to his belt and released Teo from the ball. He looked excitedly down at the Ground-type, smiling broadly. "Teo, we're gonna find ourselves a new teammate today!" he said happily. The Trapinch mirrored his Trainer's enthusiasm, gurgling happily and turning toward the caves. "We're looking for Charmander, but we'll battle anything we see!" Jacob decided, beginning to walk toward the mouth of the cave. I don't think we'll be finding any Charmanders any time soon, but it'll be worth the training to go in, he thought to himself, wanting to surprise his Pokemon. It would be better training if he wasn't prepared for it, after all. -
Dru nodded, seconding Helze's warning about the Knifeweed. "It's an incredibly powerful toxin. One that we should make a point of not being on the receiving end of, I might add," he said, his low voice rumbling in comparison to Helzebeth's. "The wildlife here also features several ambush predators, so we should be on guard at all times," he reminded the group. "Especially you, Boney. Wouldn't want your leg ending up in some eagle's aerie where Sigurd might have to go up and fetch you back, now would we?"

Jacob made his way over to Brendan and Rebecca, his mind concentrated on one question as he neared the instructors. He cleared his throat and waited to make eye contact with Brendan, then spoke. "Are there any non-Dragon types around? Teo here is going to be my only Dragon. It's because he's the best there is, so I'll never need another!" he said jokingly, causing Teo to gurgle happily. -
Dru nodded, taking each party member's opinion into account. They seemed to have reached a unanimous decision, and so as the guide Dru spoke up. "Good. I am happy that we have avoided conflict on this matter. We shall take the road through the wilderness, straying away from the hostile town. However, this means that at night we will need to keep watch in pairs in order to avoid the fate that befalls those who are not fit for the danger of the Shattered Hills." The sorcerer pointed in the direction the road they needed to take, grinning at the prospect of traveling deeper into his homeland.

Jacob frowned in disappointment as he heard his name called in a group other than Devin's. Crap... he thought to himself, shaking his head. I had really wanted to go with THE Dragon master. But I suppose Noivern and Altaria are alright. He then thought back to the other names he'd heard. He remembered hearing Robert's name, but other than his and Mareek's he didn't recognize anyone else. I guess I'm making new friends today, the young Trainer thought to himself as he reached down to his belt and hit the release button on Teo's ball, causing him to appear in a flash of light. "I'm ready to get moving, Teo. What about you?" The Trapinch gurgled excitedly, looking toward the forested area. -

Jacob looked on quietly at the conversation, sighing in disappointment. Oh well. There'll be time for socializing later. The young Trainer began to think about training his Pokemon later that day and decided quickly that an attacking drill was in order. I don't want to have anything like that battle with Flare happen again, he thought to himself. That means we need to be able to take them from a lot of health to none quickly. Teo's attacks are already more powerful than Chalchi's, so I'll need to make sure he gets a lot of training in. -

Lux nodded at Beverly, ready to make his move. After a long night of socializing and guesswork, they'd finally acquired their target. If everything goes according to plan, this shouldn't take too long, the young man thought to himself. He then looked back toward the target. "You know, the real reason I'm here is the artwork you have hanging in your home. I'd heard rumors that you were a collector of some note, and the way you've decorated your home indicates to me that those reports are correct." He flashed the man a reassuring smile before feigning surprise and embarrassment. "Oh my! I'm so sorry sir, I didn't even introduce you to my date! Beverly, this is the host of the party," he said casually, introducing his partner. "Charmed," Beverly said quietly, flashing the man a pretty smile and extending her hand for a shake. "Perhaps you'd be able to show us a few pieces from your collection? Like a private show of sorts?" she asked inquisitively, waiting for the man to grasp her hand. -
Dru turned, sighing wearily to Helzebeth. "Very well, Helzebeth. I believe that those who have knowledge of the area should be those who vote, though. It would not do to have the blind leading the sighted." The sorcerer leaned to the side, looking out among the group following him. He then turned his gaze back to the Ranger. "I for one favor the road. I am much more confident in my ability to dispatch those who I know are hostile. I have no use for prying eyes and needless hate." He then called out to the group. "Who here has knowledge of this area? Any who do, step forth and let us hear what you have to say. Any who do not, kindly remain silent for those who do."

Jacob grinned and shot off toward the elevator like a bullet, easily passing Danielle as he held Teo tucked toward his stomach like a rugby ball. He entered the elevator just after Slade, smiling at his friend. "If that'd been a fair start, I think I would've had you!" he said, looking back into the hall. He then looked down at his Trapinch, who was excitedly looking around after the awesome burst of speed. "Don't worry, buddy! Devin said you're halfway to evolving, and we just started out here! You'll be able to go faster than me once that happens," he said excitedly. Teo gurgled happily and flapped his front legs, eager to take to the air. "Soon," Jacob said wistfully. -
Jory marched to the South, in line with the rest of his squad. I wonder what Clemont has in store for us today? he pondered as he continued the autonomous movement of his legs, heading toward the front gate.
