  1. Lux looked around as the couple entered the mansion, taking in the area and everything in it. He quickly looked toward the Bartender. Having him here makes this seem a whole lot easier, the young man thought as he progressed through the party. The man who had caught his eye- a large, well-built blond man in a white suit- seemed to be the only sedentary object in the lively room. Lux turned to Beverly and nodded, then looked for another group of socialites to interrogate. Spotting one at the opposite end of the bar from the Bartender, he led Beverly over and gave them his biggest fake smile. "Hello, Lucius Jett," he said warmly in his English accent as he extended a hand to the man who seemed to be commanding the group's attention. "And this lovely lady is Beverly, my date. Do any of you perchance know where I might find the host of this little soiree?" he asked. "I'd like to thank him for his invitation and for this lovely event."
  2. Jory snapped to, immediately raising his hand to indicate that he already had a question. "Will these be live-fire exercises, sir?"
  3. Jacob stumbled as he was showered in rubble, falling forward and threatening to land on Teo. He released his Trapinch and tucked his head, rolling over the Pokemon and, somehow, ending up on his feet. He reached down to his belt and clicked the return button on Teo's ball, calling back the Trapinch as he watched from his new vantage point. The Salamence's blows were landing harshly and on target, but the Hydreigon's blasts were the truly dangerous part of being a spectator for this match. I may have underestimated how dangerous this was going to get! he thought frantically as he dove behind a rock, narrowly avoiding another of the Hydreigon's smaller Dragon Pulses. Even its weak attacks are blasting holes in the ground! he thought to himself, shielding his face as he was once again showered in dirt and pebbles. At least I'm a little safer here... he thought, breathing easy for the moment. He peered out from behind the rock, seeing the Salamence and Hydreigon rather close to him. I'd best stay still. Don't want to draw too much attention to myself.
  4. A bright blue light flashed and a Dragon Pulse headed straight for Jacob. Thinking quickly, he dropped to the dirt and covered Teo with his body, closing his eyes tightly as the powerful attack flew above him. When he opened his eyes the Hydreigon and Salamence were still going at it, their blows echoing like thunder throughout Devin's garden. He turned his head frantically, searching for the other students in the area. Upon seeing Evan jump down a hole in the ground and Danielle follow suit, Jacob was tempted to follow them. But if I follow them, then I'll be missing out on the experience of a lifetime. Who says learning has to be safe? he thought excitedly, a sly grin appearing on his face. The grin turned to a chuckle as the earth shook around him and Teo's head poked out from underneath Jacob to see what was going on. "All right, buddy," he said softly. "Let's see if we can get a better view of this brawl." With that he sprung to his feet, scooping Teo up and beginning to run in a curving path around the Dragons so he could see how they moved with so much power.
  5. Jacob's jaw dropped as he saw the Salamence hit the Hydreigon like a meteorite, sending it crashing suddenly to the ground. "Woah!" he shouted in surprise, unable to fully comprehend the power behind the blow. To bring down a Hydreigon in one hit... He's so insanely strong. Devin's training methods have really paid off! he thought excitedly. "Come on guys, pick up the pace! I want to watch Salamence fight that Hydreigon!" he said excitedly, a bit of the old fire returning to his eyes as his mind strayed from Danielle. He began to walk more quickly, his eyes glued to the Dragons in the distance.
  6. He took the gold lead in the last 5 minutes of the game though...
  7. Brand, y u so carry? I started off with an early Athene's but sold it for Rylai's toward the end do help my team with Nasus.
  8. You could also say Chalchi > Glacien, Teo > Feroces, Not a Dragon > Dragon.
  9. This poll is now closed. I'll speak further with Ame about the proposition of a prize.
  10. Jacob nodded in agreement with Danielle, smiling at Kenny as they moved toward the site of the conflict with the Brutal Pokemon. "Yeah, Kenny, we wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Thanks," he said quietly, deep in thought as he carried Teo along with him. The Trapinch gurgled excitedly every time he caught a glimpse of the Salamence flying overhead, flapping his legs uselessly all the while. "Don't worry, bud," Jacob said levelly. "Soon you'll be strong enough to evolve into a Vibrava. Then you'll be able to fly as much as you want!" he continued. Teo gurgled once more with a sense of urgency. "You can't evolve yet! We still have to train you more!" The Trapinch pouted at this, looking away and closing his eyes. Jacob shook his head, sighing. He's been getting more and more restless lately. That just means we need to train harder so he can evolve, just like he wants to.
  11. Looks like Sceptile is going to be where I throw all my shards between Giga Drain and Dragon Pulse. EDIT: To clarify, since I already have an IV bred Rash Sceptile I'm gonna most likely start with Mudkip.
  12. Jacob nodded, impressed at the Salamence's seriousness and speed in reacting. "Right! Let's follow him!" Jacob suggested to Danielle before taking off after Kenny, Teo jostling in his arms as the Trainer ran through the underbrush.
  13. Jacob stared in awe at the massive Salamence. It was like nothing he had ever seen before. Its head was the size of Jacob's chest and its wings were larger than any Pokemon's he'd ever seen. Teo looked extremely excited, as though he wanted to become best friends with the Salamence. He approached it cautiously and extended a hand to the Dragon, allowing it to inspect him before he began speaking. "Salamence, Professor Cadmus told us that it's really important that we tell you to find Hydreigon. He said you'd know which one I was talking about. I think it has something to do with the other students," he said quickly, trying not to sound as excited as he was.
  14. Jacob entered the clearing behind Danielle, his eyes brightening a bit at the sight of other people. "Guys, this is important. If Devin wants us to find a Hydreigon it could be bad news. Those things can become extremely hostile toward people or Pokemon who they perceive as intruders." He looked over at Danielle, feeling the odd emptiness again. It's better than not being able to be friends with her at all, he reasoned. Teo looked up at his Trainer, excited to see his change in mood. I can deal with this. I've dealt with worse before.
  15. Jacob stopped in his tracks, then turned toward Danielle and nodded, avoiding eye contact with her. He pointed in Kenny's direction, waiting for Danielle to lead the way into the confrontation.
  16. Soon after they began walking again, Jacob halted and put his hand up as he heard loud footsteps ahead. He carefully pushed a few branches aside and looked through the thick brush, spotting another student in the middle of a group of Druddigon. I shouldn't be too concerned. They're Devin's, after all. Let's just skirt around them, he thought to himself as he lead the way quietly, beckoning for Danielle to follow as he made his way around the Druddigon group.
  17. Jacob watched as Danielle began to cry, willing himself to stay rooted where he was. He wanted to comfort her, to tell her everything was going to be okay, but try as he might he was unable to. Her words echoed as hammer blows on the lid of a coffin. It felt odd. There was no sense of loss, no sense of pain. Everything simply was. He had expected the stinging pain of rejection and the crying afterward, but there was nothing. Jacob took a deep breath, his mouth feeling stuffed with cotton. What was that he was feeling? It's like... it's just like there's a big space in my chest, he thought to himself, confused at his own reaction. Teo looked up at his Trainer, equally surprised. The only thing that managed to snap the Trainer out of his trance was the sound of Danielle softly sobbing into her hands in front of him. All Jacob could do was shake his head as he closed his eyes. When he opened them, they seemed to be staring far off into space. "Let's go find Devin's Salamence," he said quietly. "Then we can go back to the Academy."
  18. Jacob kept following the path, occasionally having to move a branch out of his way but proceeding otherwise undisturbed. If I can just complete this mission, I'll be on Devin's good side. Then Teo will be able to benefit from his experience, he thought to himself, trying to keep his mind off the girl behind him. But she's my friend, some part of him said, trying to wedge its way past the emotional block he had put up. That same thought was what made the whole instance so horrible. I don't want there to be this incredible awkwardness, but... But what? he began to question. She deserves a chance to explain herself. Finally, his better nature won out. He stopped walking suddenly and turned around, taking a deep breath. "We never got to finish that conversation earlier," he said quietly. "I think I'm ready now."
  19. Oliver (Grovyle, M)- Growth 28 Nefertiti (Nidorina, F)- Growth 29 Sampson (Ponyta, M)- Growth 29 1.5 from each of Oliver's Tier 3 fights put him at level 23 before the timeskip and Neffi and Sampson were each at 24.
  20. Jacob pressed the return button on Chalchi's ball, calling back the Lapras after Devin asked him for a personal favor. "We'll get on it right away, Dev- I mean, Professor!" he said excitedly. Wow... Professor Cadmus entrusted me with something important! I'm one step closer to earning the respect of one of the greatest Trainers in the world! he thought happily, beckoning Teo over to him. The Trapinch reluctantly left the Haxorus alone and came to Jacob's side. The young Trainer then looked over at Danielle, feeling a pang of heartache as he heard Devin scolding Slade for flirting with her. Could she be any more insensitive? I just told her that it's that very thing that's been making me miserable. He sighed and cleared his throat. "Danielle, whenever you're ready we should go find that Salamence," he said curtly, suppressing his emotions for the time being. No matter what's going on in my personal life, I won't let it interfere with Devin teaching me how to unlock Teo's true potential, he thought sternly. However, as he looked at Danielle, he knew that it would be difficult. She's my best friend, but she can't support me on this one, he thought to himself. I need to be self-reliant. I need to be disciplined, and I need to have willpower, he realized, remembering Sensei Igor's words: "If you can't control yourself, you can't control the world around you." With that, he resolved that no matter what he would not break down like before. I can do this. I've done harder things in the past and I will need to overcome greater obstacles than this if I want to be a truly great Trainer. This is just one step on the pathway to my future. Jacob and Teo began to walk where Ryan had pointed as the young Trainer beckoned to Danielle to follow.
  21. Well, looks like my overpreparedness paid off. I got to the airport super early. My flight doesn't even board for another hour >>
  22. Jacob couldn't help but burst out in laughter as Devin came walking out of the brush, confirming his suspicions. He looked over at Danielle, causing his heart to feel as though it were twisting in pain. I need to finish talking to her, but first I want to talk to Devin. The young Trainer approached Devin, allowing Ryan the opportunity to show the man his broken ankle before speaking up. Wow. So he trained all of the Haxorus? he thought to himself in wonder, realizing for the first time how well cared-for they seemed to be. In his research of Flygon, Jacob had come across the indicators of a well cared-for Dragon, and these had all the signs. Their scales shone beautifully in the light of Corona's ember attack, and their tusks & claws were razor sharp. Their eyes shone brightly in the dim light of the forest, and when he approached the one near Devin he could feel its body heat emanating from it. "Wow, Professor Cadmus... These Haxorus are all really strong. I'm sorry we attacked them, but this is the first time I've seen one in person. I guess I panicked a little bit," he said quietly, his face red in embarrassment. When he noticed the two from the pit approaching him, he scooped up Teo and brought him over to the Dragons. "Professor Cadmus, can you help teach me to make Teo as strong as these Haxorus? He's like me. That is to say, he hates losing more than anything else." The Trapinch nodded in agreement and squirmed out of Jacob's grip, moving forward to investigate the Haxorus pair. Jacob calmly extended a hand to one and, seeing that it was docile in the presence of Devin, pet it. He was immediately surprised by the fact that its body was nearly as hot as Flare's. "Professor, why are Dragon-types so warm? Is it because of all the excess energy they produce?" he wondered aloud, beginning to walk around the Haxorus and inspect it closely.
