Pokémon Academy: Ch 1a: A fresh start [IC]
Jory replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Upon seeing Danielle enter the battlefield, Jacob immediately shouted at his Pokemon, "Teo, cancel! CANCEL!" The Trapinch immediately obeyed, shuffling his feet and using Sand Tomb to return all the sand he had conjured up, wet and dry, back into the ground. The Trainer quickly clicked the return button on Chalchi's Poke Ball and sprinted onto the field himself, scooping up Teo and continuing to the other side of the field. He stopped only when he had reached Danielle, setting Teo down and kneeling next to the girl and her Pokemon. Out of breath, he began to apologize, but failed after a stammering start. Jacob took a deep breath and calmed himself before speaking again. "I'm so sorry, Danielle! I didn't mean for you or your Pokemon to get hurt. Is Corona okay? Are you okay?" he asked, looking around. Other students had begun to gather near the sidelines, anxious to interfere but unwilling to cross the line before the official end of the battle. Jacob looked at the other Trainers. Recognizing some of Danielle's friends among them, he beckoned them over and gave them an "ok" hand gesture. That was more than just this battle. No one panics like that in the middle of a regulation battle with this many first responders nearby. He then looked meaningfully at Danielle and wiped a tear away from her eye, then put his hand on her shoulder. "Come on, Danielle. You should get up so everyone knows you're okay." In a more hushed tone, he carefully said, "Later you need to tell me why you jumped into the battle like that. I think I deserve an explanation, don't you?" -
I'll be putting up a post shortly. EDIT: I'd like to thank everyone for a prompt reaction and resolution. I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh. I felt very strongly about this from day one, and to see it culminate in a move as unnecessary as that really irked me. This was a particularly sore subject because I'd been working diligently for several hours while managing a post every now and again, and when I did work for longer so I could finish it and give the RP my full attention I found that the events that had been carefully pieced together had been knocked over like a Jenga tower haha
-
All I have to say is that if you'd interrupted someone's conversation like you did that RP battle, they'd look at you like you have 3 heads. It's common courtesy. Nothing special, just something you need to have for people to not dislike you being in a room.
-
I think the discussion is nonexistent and you wait until the next post to see what happens. Just because there is a post doesn't mean you have to react to every single one, particularly in forum RP where people leave messages and then resume the rest of their goddamned lives. And Hukuna, I'm sorry for yelling, but it's ridiculous that I even have to say something. Hijacking someone's battle is infantile at worst, a cry for attention at best (unless you're the host). ExLink, "first come first serve" doesn't apply to conversatiosn
-
Essentially, because the pacing of this posting has been so quick, when I stopped posting for 45 minutes to GET MY FUCKING SCHOOLWORK DONE, I came back to find that the battle I waited patiently for behind these people had been ended without my knowledge or consent. That's incredibly inconsiderate, especially considering ExLink and Commander had no fucking right to step onto that battlefield. EDIT: And before you try to use semantics, ExLink, remember that the cloud was only above the bowl, and not below it. Plus, given the relatively small scale of both the attacks and the field, it would be pretty easily noticeable IF SOMEONE WERE SCREAMING AND THEN SOMEONE ELSE RAN ONTO THE FIELD. EDIT 2: THIS IS IN ALL BOLD AND ALL CAPS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS SHIT. IF I CAN'T STOP POSTING FOR LESS THAN AN HOUR TO DO MY SCHOOLWORK, THEN THIS ENTIRE SECTION IS AS GOOD AS DEAD TO ME. WHAT EXLINK AND COMMANDER HAVE DONE IS IGNORE THE CONCEPT OF COMMON COURTESY, INTERJECTING THEMSELVES IN A SITUATION IRRELEVANT TO THEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING THEIR CHARACTERS RELEVANT TO EVERY POSSIBLE PLOT POINT. IF YOU'RE GOING TO INTERFERE IN SOMEONE ELSE'S SHIT, PM THEM FIRST.
-
No such thing is happening until you and ExLink retcon. The idea that that entire sequence of events took place with Jacob standing in his Trainer's box like an idiot is unacceptable.
-
Next time I get ninja'd in my own battle, I'm leaving the RP. Jacob reacted quickly to everything else in the battle. He would obviously be the first to notice if THE OTHER TRAINER JUMPED INTO HIS POKEMON'S ATTACK. This is fucking ridiculous and unprofessional. If Chimchain wants to interfere, that's one thing, but seeing as I'm the only one directly involved I'd say that Commander and ExLink should retcon immediately before I freak out. EDIT: I won't be posting until you two figure out how to go about that in a way that doesn't smell of white-knighting where it's unnecessary.

Jacob was forced to laugh as the tiny bug rocket-propelled itself away from the hole and back onto Danielle's side of the field. However, he did not stop thinking about how to handle the situation. We can win a ranged war with that Larvesta. So let's start. Jacob grinned, knowing he had the upper hand. "Calchi, use Water Gun on that pesky Larvesta again! Teo, use Sand Attack, then follow it up with our signature strategy, Glass Castle!" Teo quickly kicked sand toward the falling Larvesta, making it so Corona would have no choice but to fall headfirst through the cloud if she wanted to try the trick with her Ember again. Chalchi immediately followed up with Water Gun, dousing the smaller insect in water before its descent into the cloud. "Good! Now where's that glass castle?" Jacob asked rhetorically, prompting Teo to slam the ground with his feet, using Sand Tomb once more. This time, however, the sand traveled upward, forming a bowl of undulating sand beneath the falling Larvesa. Upon falling through the cloud, Corona was coated in now-wet sand that got into her eyes and mouth, reducing her accuracy. Once she fell below the cloud and into the bowl, Jacob's eye twinkled deviously. "Now, Teo, for the Glass Castle!" he shouted. Upon reaching the bowl, Corona would find the sand on the top of the bowl too steep to climb up. As Teo began to move forward, the bowl began to collapse, quickly threatening to inundate Corona in sand. -

((I'm just going to assume that Larvesta has magical flame-retardant string for these purposes since I don't want to be rude about it)) Perfect, Jacob thought, grinning to himself. The plan had worked even better than he'd hoped. Initially, he'd been hoping for the Larvesta to try its luck at hurdling the hole, but by putting itself on a single string it made itself an easy target. "Teo, open up your jaws and get ready to repel the impact using Strength! Chalchi, get ready to fire off a Water Gun at my command!!" he shouted excitedly, happy that his plan had worked. Teo once again set his feet and opened his jaws, preparing for the impact. As Corona collided with intense heat and force Teo was forced back, his feet dragging in the sand as he fought to keep a grip on Corona. "Come on, Teo, don't stop! Send Corona up in the air!" he shouted. His Trapinch gave a loud gurgle of effort, then bucked forward, throwing the Larvesta into the air. Teo's legs gave out after throwing the Larvesta, sending him to the ground. He struggled to get up, managing to barely climb back onto wobbly legs as he watched the Larvesta travel through the air. "Chalchi, NOW!" Jacob ordered. The Lapras fired a jet of water at the Larvesta, scoring a direct hit on the airborne fire bug as it plummeted toward Teo's pit. -

Jacob watched Danielle's Pokemon intently, not ready to let his Pokemon go down to some surprise attack tactic that he could see coming from his viewpoint. However, as he looked up toward the Murkrow, he realized the sun was extremely bright. Hmm... That's why that Larvesta's Flame Charges are so powerful. But even with that, there's no way Teo's about to go down. I think it's about time each of my Pokemon showed off their most powerful moves. It's time to end this. He looked up at Danielle apologetically, then began giving orders. "Chalchi, it's time for Avis to taste your signature move! Use Freeze Dry! Don't worry about that Larvesta! Teo, it's time for that Larvesta to slow down. Use Sand Tomb!" Chalchi craned her neck and appeared as though she was straining with no visual result. However, despite the sun's heat, the moisture in the air around Chalchi began to coalesce into an icy mist. Jacob looked on in amazement as the cloud of frost reached up toward Avis, who was coming in fast. As the Flying-type entered the mist, ice suddenly began to coat her wings and body before Chalchi let out a cry, causing all the ice to shatter immediately and dealing heavy damage to the Murkrow. Teo gurgled a challenge at the oncoming Larvesta, setting his feet as though he was going for another Strength attack. Teo then reared on his hind legs and stomped hard on the battlefield, opening up a ten foot deep, ten foot wide pit in front of him with sloped walls that continually crumbled inward in order to force the land-borne Pokemon either around him or into the air above the pit. -

Chalchi cried out in pain as the flaming Larvesta hit her, but was mostly unharmed by the attack. Jacob was able to react to Avis's attack faster. Teo's jaws are incredibly strong, even moreso than that Murkrow's wings. If she wants to battle with brute force, we're going to win. And the closer Chalchi is to her target, the louder her lullaby will be. "Teo, now! Catch Avis in your jaws and use Strength to force him into the ground! Chalchi, take care of that Larvesta! Put her to sleep with Sing!" The Trapinch set his body solidly on the ground and opened his jaw, waiting for the Murkrow to strike. When it did, Teo clamped his powerful jaws down on the bird Pokemon and jumped into the air, using his opponent's momentum to swing him around and send him crashing into the earth below him. Chalchi craned her neck, surrounding Corona, and began to sing an enchanting lullaby. Teo landed on the ground immediately after the Murkrow, panting in exertion. -

Jacob was caught off guard by the sudden combo attack. It appeared as though Danielle would be a great first match. However, he quickly recovered. Birds can't fly when they're wet! he thought to himself. And sand sticks to wet things. He began shouting orders. "Chalchi, use Water Gun to take those flaming feathers out of the air! Teo, use Sand Attack!" Chalchi immediately obeyed her Trainer, firing her Water gun across the field toward the enemies and their attack, dousing the flaming feathers and bringing them to the ground. The jet of water continued toward Avis, threatening to hit the Pokemon if it was unable to get out of the way. Teo turned around and continuously kicked up a cloud of sand toward Corona and Avis, creating a cloud of dry sand around them. Good, Jacob thought, prepared for the next volley of attacks. If they get hit by Sand Attack and Water Gun, the sand will be much harder to get out of their eyes! -

Jacob chuckled. "I think we'll skip the battle points on this since it's our first match!" he said happily. Then, his expression became more serious and he reached for his Poke Balls. "Alright. I've been wanted to do this ever since I got my first Pokemon. Teo, Chalchi, come on out!" he shouted. With that, he clicked both buttons and threw his Poke Balls, causing Chalchi and Teo to be released at the same time. The two landed on the battlefield, wearing their most serious faces. "Ladies first, Danielle. You make the first move!" he said loudly, waiting on her. -

Jacob smiled and looked over at Colin, who was still admiring Chalchi. "Thanks for the compliments. But Danielle's right: we have a battle to start. Teo, Chalchi, let's go!" he called, clicking the return buttons on their Poke Balls so he could walk onto the field. He got into his position at the end of the battlefield and took out his Poke Balls, looking expectantly at Danielle. "Come on, Slowpoke, let's go!" he said jokingly, tapping on an imaginary watch on his wrist. He looked at Danielle's Pokemon, deciding what strategy would be best to win this friendly match. Hmm... Chalchi has an Ice-type attack that can clip that Murkrow's wings and Teo knows Bite, Strength, and Sand Attack. He then addressed Danielle. "I'm ready to start whenever you are! Just let me know when." -

Thanks for the hint. We've got it from here. -
I would say that to dodge more than 1/3 of attacks at similar levels is completely OP, a stage that could only be reached at a significant plot or character development point.

Jacob looked on, feeling at a loss as to what to do. Come on, think! he said to himself, trying to formulate a plan of action. But, as good as he was at dealing with Pokemon, he found it infinitely harder to adjust to what a person needed at a particular moment. Suddenly, he got an idea. Wait a second... Chalchi's moves are Freeze Dry, Water Gun, and... Sing! Right! He turned to his Lapras and gestured toward Tal. "Chalchi, whisper her a lullaby! Use your Sing attack, but make sure only Tal can hear it!" Chalchi craned her neck toward Tal's head and began to quietly hum a slow melody. -

Jacob looked over to Danielle, surprised to see that she had been knocked over by a Snorunt. The teenager couldn't help but laugh at the standoff between Corona and the Snorunt. Both Pokemon were tiny, which made the desperation of Corona's attempts at treaty even funnier. Chalchi craned her neck to look on, amused by the proceedings. Then, a rather confused Shiro came over and started rambling about losing control of his Pokemon and... not having Poke Balls. Jacob laughed lightly and signaled to Chalchi, who sprayed a bit of water on the Snorunt's face in an attempt to wake it up. "Why did you knock out your own Pokemon, Shiro? Even if it was disobeying, that's not really the way to go about it!" Jacob said, chuckling. -

Jacob cheered as Evan began to work on his strategy for defeating the team that seemed to have the advantage. Hmm... Those attacks are going to do a lot of damage to that Combee. Why isn't he focusing fire on that while the Dwebble can't hit anything? he thought to himself, happy that he had been able to work out a viable strategy. He was especially happy because it already showed improvement over his relatively poor performance on the battling strategy portion of the earlier exam. "Hey, Danielle, wouldn't it be cool if Evan's Eevee was able to knock out that Combee with a Flail? That way, Evan could give himself the advantage in numbers. Combee is only making things harder for him, after all..." he said excitedly. Teo and Chalchi were mirroring their Trainer's expression, having switched spots with Teo now sitting on Chalchi as they watched the match. The two Pokemon seemed to get along well. Good, Jacob thought, smiling lightly. It'll make them an even better team. -

Jacob nodded, studying the Cleffa and Eevee closely. "Neither of them seem to know anything that would give them an edge over his Dwebble, let alone that Combee. I think this is going to play out very well for Alivin, and poorly at the very least for Evan he siad absentinmindedly, offering his opinion -

Lux noticed the drop in cheer in Beverly's voice and laughed, pulling her toward a group of people. "Why so sour? Are you gonna be able to be your usual charming self?" he asked lightly, bumping her with his elbow. "I need you to make these people like you. And we all know I'm not the best on that front," he said, again making sure to lighten the mood. "Let's talk to these people," he said quickly. They approached the group, waiting for Beverly to play the part of the socialite. -

Jacob nodded excitedly, walking to the field and sitting beckoning for Danielle and Shiro to join him. He couldn't wait to see their battle unfold, but he was even more excited at the prospect of finding out what Chalchi was capable of. His Pokemon eventually caught up with him, Teo smiling happily as he carried the jubilant Chalchi over to the battlefield. Jacob took out his Pokedex and quickly scanned his Lapras. Hmm... So she's a Water/Ice type. I already knew that... Let's see what else. She's going to get much bigger, it indicates that much. Let's see what moves she knows... he thought as he scrolled through Chalchi's entry. So she knows Water Gun, Sing, Mist, and... "WHAT? FREEZE DRY!? THAT'S SO COOL, CHALCHI!" he burst out, looking at his newest Pokemon with even more respect. "You're gonna be the biggest threat we have, other than Teo here!" Jacob laughed, causing Teo to gurgle happily. He then looked toward Shiro and Danielle, waiting for them to catch up as he watched the battle. -

Jacob approached the group, which seemed to be the source of some commotion. He beckoned to Teo and Chalchi to follow. The Trapinch sidled under Chalchi, causing her to cry uncertainly. However, she began to cheer happily as Teo lifted her up on his back, carrying her over to the people. He tapped Danielle on the shoulder and pointed at the impending battle between Evan and Alvin. "Looks like those two are at it again, except they're using Pokemon now. They're going to be rivals all throughout the year, I just know it," he said excitedly, keenly interested in the battle. "They're going to be incredible to watch, don't you think?"
