  1. Right, we ran it in the evenings and they had a weekly schedule- they needed to be on-call about three nights a week for around five hours. If they weren't able to make it, we had back-ups that would take their place secretly so the challenger didn't know. They did not use their real names-- lord, if i I had to find people whose real names were puns... I took care of setting it up, recruiting, and in some cases, even training them on their specific types.
  2. dude i cant even find that damn lapras in RMXP half the time........
  3. Shofu actually tweeted me and asked for some help. I suggested a few more ideas he might employ to beat her based on comments I've seen around the forum. The AI is made to do what Shofu discovered, actually. I'm not a huge fan of this, but that's how it is in base Essentials. Maruno told me so himself after I proposed some redesigns to the base AI a long time ago and he basically said 'nah we're gonna have the AI cheat'.
  4. Not hard, just tedious and easy to miss stuff. You're correct that solving the issues is not difficult in the least; catching all of them, however... By the way, the wasteland was already a single map, and required the fewest adjustments of any. I basically just had to delete a lot of events from there (sad face) because over ~200 events on a single map tends to lag computers.

    "The Axe"

"hey where can i get a download of E14???" ...is probably a question we're going to see axed-- I mean, asked (that was actually not an intentional typo but let's roll with it) when E15 comes along. As it has come to be referred to on the forums, I occasionally give Pokemon 'the axe' in terms of their availability, meaning I either remove them from the game (what's up Magikarp) or push them back a bit. So, firstly, why do I do this? Well, because I'm a sadi-- no. One of the goals of this game (and one thing I hear semi-frequent compliments about) is to encourage players to use a variety of Pokemon, particularly ones they might not otherwise think of using. However, when popular/strong choices of Pokemon are available early in the game they tend to eclipse later similar options. As an example, why would anyone bother using Misdreavus ever when they can get the (sorry Ikaru) veritably superior Gastly at exactly the same point of the game? Well, they just won't. Now obviously there's never going to be a perfect balance of this where every single Pokemon has its place (and honestly who cares about half of them, like I'm pretty sure nobody misses Tentacool (I could be wrong?) after six generations of it being shoved in our face) but there are definitely some points for improvement. While this may be disappointing for some players who are used to using, or favor these choices, it is ultimately me correcting a mistake for the sake of the final product. I view it as such- a short-sighted mistake. Like, what part of me thought it was a good idea to put drought Vulpix in before the second gym?? I am not sure, but that part is dead. Additionally, in some cases, such as Gastly, it's a matter of perception of length-- i.e when it was implemented at the end of E8 there was no content for it to be used in so it wasn't an issue, but now that's just about 50% of the way through the game and most players will jump at the chance since there's so much to use it in. Since the amount of game to which its applicable has increased, so has its value, and as such it needs to be adjusted. Hopefully with these comments, you can understand why I make decisions to move or remove certain Pokemon. While the above two are instances I will be reconsidering, I am not promising that they or any others will or will not be changed. However, it is also partly dependent on what kind of Pokemon I replace them with. Because variety is important to this game, especially in the early chapters that can potentially get redundant if one only has access to the same Pokemon each playthrough, I will be sure to add something in earlier for each thing that is moved significantly far back, or removed. SO that said, I am looking for input on what Pokemon the early game is missing, but could reasonably fit in there. Now, let's get this out of the way right now: No, I'm not putting in your pseudo-legends, your talonflame, your aegislash, etc early. That's just not going to happen. Don't even. Nahh. But, examples of Pokemon that would be good fits for the early game are things that may not have a very important place later on and come too weak to really be of use. Some examples of Pokemon like this that have been added into the early game in past episodes were things like Ducklett, Gulpin, Cacnea-- they're not really popular, but it was also a while before you could get them at which point nobody cared. I'm looking for things like that. So, if anyone has any ideas they feel strongly about AND that will be appropriate for the early-early mid game, I won't make promises, but I will listen and consider them.
  6. Serra and Bennet's last name is Voclain. Charlotte, Laura and Saphira, are Belrose.
  7. all right i may hate terra but you and i are gonna tussle
  8. This is something Essentials actually supports, so it's not impossible, but there hasn't really been a need for it. I won't say never.
  9. tl;dr i made the league for my best friend and then we had a fall out so i made it public instead as a 'fuck you' most of the leaders i recruited from friends and friends of friends and so on and then it just kind of kept growing oops. this site is just a giant 'fuck you'
  10. Relevant new content that the people who saw the previous post would likely be interested in noticing warranted a the double to bump. This is why I wanted to do a .5 release. Anti-lag adjustments can be volatile. Route 2 is a perfect nightmare example of why: Before this update, it was two separate map files, and we merged them. But in order to do that, we had to copy and paste each individual jump spot from one map to another because they can't be moved en masse. Further, they have to be moved right into the same spot as they were before. THEN once everything's on the same map we had to expand that map, meaning we had to shift the events, one by one, back to where they were before the map was expanded. In fact we had to do that three different times. So, all of those events got shuffled around and copied and pasted and dragged and replaced over and over. Then considering that there were originally about ~450 events on that map, it's easy for one or two to slip through unnoticed, or get left in the wrong spot, or not get copied, or get put in the wrong spot, etc. Or in some cases the IDs of the events changed because they were copied/pasted in a different order, so other events that referenced them (whats up crustles) no longer find them, and potentially crash. It's just. Bad.
  11. I promise you all, of all the impatient people on this website, I am the worst of them. It is almost physically impossible for anyone to be more impatient for this game to release than me. I get the concern, and we're doing our best here, but if I can hold out, so can you. Please consider conducting yourself more respecfully in the future.
  12. Take down the yellow saturation on Mienfoo just a bit, otherwise they're good for backspriting. Darm sprites should be good too. Fetus Reuni is... effective, but gross. I'd still be interested in seeing one that looks more like the traditional jello-red With the Eelvolutions, there's a shade of red or two that look out of place- http://prntscr.com/6cl7ht I'm not entiiiirely sure what these shades are trying to do,but they need some work. Based on the pixels around the spot on its 'hand' it looks like it's supposed to fade with those pixels into the second colour, and also fade into the black elsewhere, but it's too highly saturated to do that atm. There's a couple outlines on Emboar front that should match the nearby colors better- http://prntscr.com/6cl9ha - grey outline should be a darker-uh, bacon color. Meloetta's 'skin' shading is a little awkward, especially on the front facing normal form, it almost looks like it has a beared because it's too dark. The top left of the front of Piroueette is the same as well. The pixels connecting Swanna's face to its bill look a little odd on the back sprite- fade them in a little better? Front sprite swanna should also have a white eye instead of a grey eye. Heatmor's looking a little bacony for now. Let's save that for Tepig. Since Dur's en grey let's make the presently dark-red part of the Heatran blackish and that faded pink color a mid-tone grey to contrast against the light grey we already have. In fact, all that done, it'll actually end up looking kind of robotic, which is neat with all its pipey looking stuff. I'm personally not a fan of these colours for the geneies, but I'm at somewhat of a loss for ideas. Alternatives? Trubbish line is looking good, but I think since the green trashbag is the dominant color it doesn't feel all that different... Could we try fading/darkening the trash bag part of these guys just a little to set them slightly more apart? Trubbish moreso, perhaps. Interested in trying other concepts for Sandile line. fun fact 'sandile' rearranges to 'sad line' anyway. Cinccino is... tough. I think the fur is too dark right now and it's contrasting harshly. Maybe try lightening the black fur and darkening the white just a little so it's not quite so jarring on the eyes The pawn line is looking pretty all right, be a couple nitpicks. One, they've got two different shades of balck between them. One is a blue-black, preferable, and the other looks more grey. This should probably be kept consistent. Secondly that little shine on Pawniard's helmet is a bit too light. A darker shade for those couple pixels will do well. I'm not a huge fan of the audino personally but others seemt o like it... at the least, the back sprite's darker-black shade should be adjusted a bit, as it's currently too dark compared to its lighter shade. Those Golett/lurks aren't bad-- do people like the clay concept vs a Steel or Marvel Iron Man one? I'm a fan of this Esca, personally. http://prntscr.com/6clh1j Other opinions? The tao trio look awesome in their latest to me, just need backs. Gothi line- new plan. Let's keep the majority black, but from the canon thing, switch the white and purple. so it'll have light skin, and purple laceythings. Blue Moon Vanill line is an -awesome- idea. But from the latest, let's get some of that glowy yellow color up in there. The crystally bits in its ice-cream body (i.e not the cone part) should take this yellow colour. I kind of like this pair of Basculin http://prntscr.com/6clkdm personally, but any other thoughts? Mallard ducklett is great but there's a stray shade here: http://prntscr.com/6clldb It doesn't really fit in- looks like it should maybe drop in saturation and brightness? The darker shade of white bouffalant looks to be a little too dark Musharna just needs the gradient fixed for the other facing, either style is fine, I kind of prefer the dithered (first) ungradiented one myself. Simi-monkeys, Druddigon, Sawk/Throh, Tynamo, Pignite/Tepig, Crustle line, Chandy line, Muuna, Haxorus line, Durant, Electric blue joltik line, Scraggline, all accepted. Really great job everyone! Keep it up!
  13. I'm not really that concerned about comparing games, especially given that this is a fan-game, firstly, and secondly that it's not really a comparable genre. I just remember being very impressed by that game's production quality and thinking a good deal as I played it about what kind of team was behind it. I didn't actually look it up, so I'm just, surprised. And impressed.
  14. Contrary to my expectation having two separate threads was more awkward than not, so this is doubling as the status update thread and the discussion thread. Knock yourselves out. Here's an explanation of what these categories refer to.
  15. huh. he still doesn't let you in there? oops.
  16. You're kidding. And over how many years? Because it's taken me this long to make Reborn which is like 16-bit graphics, but that's way more involved for both art and programming...
  17. ...I came in here fully prepared to write an entire welcome post in catspeak, but I suppose that won't be necessary. Mror.... Welcome, and I'm glad you've enjoyed the game! I'd be very interested in seeing your art, be it concept/digital or pixel.
  18. traditional turn-based rpgs. or the vast majority thereof.
  19. Yes, I wasn't expecting anyone to find them for a while, but I don't really consider people looking into RPG Maker itself. Oops. But even then it's limited to the player's chance to get the 1% Blue Moon.
  20. possibly landorus. being a legendary is lame and being a ground type is lame and looking like poop is lame lame ^3
  21. 14.5 is an unstable release so it will not be replacing the main downloads. Check the news post in the forum for it.
  22. Step aside, Ark. I'm giving this one the work. How do you plead, sir?
