Somehow even smugger in her recent success (as she chose to interpret it), and decidedly unruffled from her recent tossing, Masako gave the occasional flap and floated along with the others.  She brushed off IP's confusion with a wave of her hand.  "Nonsense- I was perfectly professional.  Scarlet simply needed a proper push from someone clever enough (me) to see it, and she'd take Izayoi back without any problem whatsoever.  Which she did!  And without reducing any of my humans to a fine red paste, too."

Masako swooped down, just enough to give Isobel a prod on the nose.  "Not that some of us aren't trying, anyway.  You really ought to listen to the maid, here!  Just because we tengu are above it doesn't mean OTHER youkai wouldn't look at an outsider human and decide you look like some sort of... well, blood milkshake, in this case.  Everyone's perfectly in their rights to eat you--until you properly settle in, in any case.  Afterwards, they at least have to ask permission."

"If even speaking to the people we intend to help carries risks such as being mutilated... Then things are considerably more dire than I had previously believed.

Though I must ask - what do you mean when you say you are a 'tengu'? What does that mean compared to being a human?"

LOTUS hopped onto IP's shoulder during the deal with Masako jumping in, and now proceeded to explain: "No, she isn't the leader at all, and don't listen to her when she acts like she is," LOTUS chimed in. "There's no commission, and no detective agency -- our group is of a more ad-hoc nature, and the leadership does match that. Masako here has actually only been around as of very recently, and is not really a credible source for the operations of the group. I would actually be amenable to discussing further details with you later, but for now I do have another responsibility to attend to, thusly it will in fact be later." and LOTUS hopped off of IP's shoulder, wildly fluttering her wings and only really managing to soften her impact on the ground to make it just embarrassing. Then, with a cleared throat, she walked over to Isobel and began to climb up the botanist's uniform, only for Isobel to to walk over to IP anyway to regain her things.

For Isobel, the situation had been unexpectedly scary, and she remained mostly silent, looking down as she got her stuff back. That... she'd walked up so confident that she could easily solve the situation without anybody being hurt with just a little speaking nicely, but the moment the vampire's eyes showed that predatory instinct, she'd been lanced through with a bolt of fear. She'd already begun to reconsider her actions by the time Sakuya had pulled her aside, and could only nod dumbly. Had she almost got herself attacked? Had Masako's ridiculous actions actually saved her...? Maybe it was just another reminder that she was out of her league, just a random botanist in a sea of very dangerous individuals -- the kind of person who had to be protected. It was humbling, and it didn't help when LOTUS finally made it up her shoulder and began to speak.

"Do you understand why I do the things that I do? You are scared, and the small vampire would appear to have been considering you as prey. I do not take a wary attitude just to be mean and nasty, I do it because it is inherently my responsibility to see to your safety, and if you fail to perform threat assessment, you are going to be blindsided by threats. I know what I am doing, I am not a defective or subpar device. Don't shush me before I can speak -- listen."

Walmond

Once the activity had begun, Walmond had gotten quiet, stepping back as Meiling kicked the door down. Not her preferred way of getting in, but that was out of her hands. While the scientist didn't step into the room herself, she did poke her head through the newly made entrance. At the very least, she could recognize that Remilia was the girl in the portraits, thanks to the blue hair that poked out from underneath a mob cap, and very noticeable red eyes. The sight did make her question Remilia's actual age, the paintings seemed very old and she looked as though she had never aged a day since they were made, but that was inconsequential to the matter at hand.

Unfortunately, that was all she could think about when Masako went in and proceeded to make the situation worse my actively antagonizing the 'young' girl. Which had as bad of a reaction as one could guess. If nothing else, it seemed to get Remilia's head back in order as the group was forced out and 'escorted' down to a tea room.

... Perhaps she'd have to take a more active role from now on. Isobel could only handle so much before she got overwhelmed.

"As we have time, I would like to pose my question to you again, Miss Patchouli. Is this Mansion's library open to humans like I doing their own research? There's theories I'd like to investigate, and a concentrated source of magical knowledge might help me find keys to those theories" Walmond idly asked the fellow mage, while Lambda silently floated behind him, still on high alert as they moved.

"No," she said somewhat flatly, seemingly ending the discussion. However, after a moment's contemplation. . . "Typically. Though I don't think anyone has ever asked. This is not a safe place for humans to be." Patchouli glanced at Lambda for a moment. "You can tell your. . ." She frowned for a moment. "Shikigami to calm down. Despite what I said, the only threat here is Flandre, and it's doubtful that she would cause an issue with both of us here." She gestured vaguely at Sakuya before pondering something for another quiet moment.

"I could make an exception. If you bring in something to add to it, and don't disturb it, I will let you peruse the library. I am not, however, responsible for babysitting you in case Flandre gets bored."

Rory, having gone with the rest without protest, turns to the maid, eyeing her for a few moments. That was the difficulty of huntsmen and other who had their aura and semblance awakened, it was normally difficult to gauge their strengths without getting into an altercation of some form. Rory hadn't really considered that the guard was the one that sent Sakuya flying earlier, but even connecting that information now they wouldn't have used it as a huge measuring point of strength. He could do that after all, with a little assistance. Curiosity getting the better of the faunus, he spoke with the usual amount of tact. "So the guard, Meiling I think, has some kind of strength enhancing thing going on. I assume you have some form of semblance too?"

"Hm?" She turned with a questioning look to Rory. "I'm not familiar with that term. I'm assuming you mean some sort of supernatural ability, which is yes, of course. Though I'm surprised you ask about Meiling now. That wasn't a particularly unusual feat, for her, and I don't believe she has used any sort of magical art to enhance herself." She turned to face forward once more. "I don't know what you expect of the servants of a vampire, though."

Rory shrugs. "Well, I don't expect much from them, if only because I don't imagine there's much in common between them... Or well, there's plenty but you're a bit too colorful to be a Grimm. But I guess if I had to say, they'd have to be devoted to a vampire for one reason or another, which both of you appear to be, and I imagine you have to be pretty powerful to be more than just common rabble." Rory rubs her chin thinking about what they actually expected of Sakuya... Giving her a quick once over again, an looking at her less impressive physique compared to the guard, only two things stood out, one, she had to use something less physically intensive as a weapon than pure strength. Likely guns or maybe a knife? Knife gun, a knife gun was the likely answer. The other thing is that if she has some form of semblance, which she almost certainly would, it had to be something that didn't rely on her taking hits, or dealing out really heavy damage with brute strength. Eventually though, Rory shrugged. "But I'm just guessing, would have to see you in a fight to get an accurate read most likely and I highly doubt one of those will be happening soon."

Walmond

Well, Walmond couldn't fault the reasoning. Though she didn't understand the problem with Flandre quite yet, Lambda was capable of protecting her if anything went wrong. Or entertaining the other Scarlet. Speaking of Lambda, upon Patchouli's request, Walmond lifted her hand to get the doll's attention, "Lambda, calm yourself" he commanded, earning himself a rather blank stare from the automaton. After a second of that though, Lambda nodded, folding her arms in front of herself and following behind... Only casting glances at the decor of the hall, as if finally taking in the sights.

"I appreciate the consideration. I'm sure that I can find material to add to your library. I doubt we'll stay long after meeting with Miss Scarlet, hardly long enough to make use of the library, but I'll make sure to pass by before we leave for good."

Masako completely ignored Lotus's (patently false) claims.  Though she still seemed rather offended by the robomaid's question.

"The tengu and humans," she said, as stuffily as a bird could manage, "are hardly comparable.  It's like asking the difference between a crow and a half-shaved squirrel!  Sure, we interact with them more than a lot of other youkai, but-"

It sounds like a rant is building up.  While no doubt interesting for scholars of youkai in general and the tengu in particular in what it could provide, someone really ought to stop her.

IP held up a hand in a "stop" motion.

"I do not require such an in-depth explanation of the differences between tengu and humans. After all, we will be meeting with Lady Remilia soon, and I doubt keeping her waiting is a good idea. If it is at all possible to be concise, please do so."

"You would be correct. My skillset has worked well to deter the odd vampire hunting 'hero,' I think, assuming they get past Meiling. Not that they're a frequent problem." She didn't really respond to the comment about fighting, but it did prompt what might've been a pensive look for a moment.

"Well, if you can be helpful and avoid making a mess, then I look forward to it. Much better than my usual visitor. . ."

The sound of footsteps sounded from behind them as Meiling caught up, patting Chen's head (who had been following with some measure of confusion for a while) and prompting an offended squeak from the bakeneko, which Meiling promptly ignored. Sakuya raised an eyebrow at her. "Done already?"

"Don't look at me like that, it was just a door." Sakuya simply looked at her for a moment before turning to face forward again, then gesturing at the door ahead. Chen seemed to have stopped at some point behind the party, staring off into the distance as she occasionally did. Sakuya took a moment to glance at her before pulling the door open, revealing a well-stocked tea room with a blonde woman in what looked like some variety of black uniform seated at the table and looking somewhat disoriented. Evidently their hosts were not expecting her presence, as Meiling dropped into a fighting stance and an alarming number of knives appeared in Sakuya's hands.

UB-65 is in!

UB-65 turned her head, looking around the tea room for anything familiar to her. Her vision was blurry as she heard the door open to her side. W-What happened? D-Did I get captured or something? She blinked rapidly as her vision began to clear and the image of the group at the door becomes clearer to her.

She grimaced at the sight of the group. When did they do it?! I could’ve sworn I never fell asleep. Her eyes began to dart around the room, looking for something. For someone.

Gott in Himmel. This is bad.

She lifted her hand into the best friendly wave she could, “Hallo, meine Damen. How may I be of assistance to you all?”

Rory had initially just assumed that the woman in the room was supposed to be there. Mainly because it wouldn't be the weirdest thing to happen that day and besides, it's not like the place didn't already have it's share of weirdos. But the fact that the woman looked confused but not hostile, and more importantly, their escorts dropped into a fighting stance, made the faunus second guess that. So she quickly went into action to hopefully avoid someone getting hurt as fun as that'd be. "Wait, I think she might be with us!" Rory looked to the woman in uniform to address her. "You could start by telling us who you are and why you're here."

UB-65 locked her eyes onto the person asking the questions and began to look her over, looking for distinguishing features or anything that could give away whoever may have captured her and brought her into this strange area. She lowered her hand and placed both of them on her lap, as to not agitate the armed one of the group.

“I always assumed that to be taken prisoner like this that my captors would at least know my name...”

She let an unsettling smile formed across her face, “I am UB-65 of the Imperial German Navy. And I can only assume I'm here because you caught me during my most recent assignment." I knew I should've drank some coffee to stay awake. I could've prevented this! "And who might you all be?” Her eyes darted across the face of each person visible to her. I bet they’re with the British, of all people. Its because I sunk that sloop a while back isn’t it?!

The gynoid (still wearing its own frilly headdress) smiled and waved a hand in greeting, seemingly oblivious to the reactions of Meiling and Sakuya.

"I am Kaida Corporation Prototype Training Series Model 00-27C, Serial Number F7DXOQ29604509X, also known as 'Instructor Prototype' or "IP". Manufactured September 18th, 1927. Placed into storage February 8th, 1943. Reactivated March 15th, 1985. A pleasure to meet you, UB-65. Do not be afraid. You are not a prisoner. In fact, I have reason to believe that you have been given a mission similar to ours - to find and eliminate creatures known as 'Trespassers'. If you were not informed of this mission, I can help provide details to the best of my ability."

Empi looks almost incredulous, then resigned, then accepting, of their new party member.
"Wait....UB.....okay.  There's another one of you?  What kind of world is there where boats are girls now? And when can I visit because I'm assuming if there's boat chicks there's more of you and I'd like to, ahem, get a little better acquainted with others."

Rory nods along with IP's Explanation. "Yeah, you sound like you're in the same boat as me at least. I mean, I've never even heard of an Imperial German Navy. I'm Rory by the way." Rory briefly remembered how he had found out about this whole universe saving business, waking up after a night of drinking, and internally let out a little annoyed sigh. Nothing she could do now though.

UB-65 mulled over the thought for a few seconds. Could this be some new interrogation tactic to make me let my guard down? There has to be something in the Hague's against this... She narrowed her eyes onto the the group. And what did they mean by there is another one of us here? Could another ship be here too? Could they have captured Deutschland or König as well?!

"And how do I know you're telling the truth? From my point of view, this could just be some elaborate plot!"

She sat back in her chair. There's no way. This can't be true. Completely outrageous! She frowned at the idea and crossed her arms across her chest.

“In addition, I’d like you to take a look at our group’s members. In particular, I’d like you to notice that none of us are wearing uniforms, and that none of us are equipped with any kind of standard-issue weaponry. I can assure you, none of us belong to any nation’s military force, let alone one that considers the Imperial German Navy to be an enemy.“

UB-65 sat stunned at the replies for a moment. I-I didn't think of that...Maybe this could be real or maybe even just one of my dreams. That's it! Nothing more than a dream, so they can't be enemies. Or maybe he caused the diesel fumes to leak out again and I'm just hallucinating. And what did that one mean by what year I'm from?! Is it not still 1918 in this dream?! She blinked a few times trying to put her thoughts into words but coming up short.

"I see..." That does make some sort of sense at least. Prisoners are usually disarmed and restrained before information gathering occurs. "...But what are these 'Trespassers' and why are we here to defeat them? And I'm assuming that it isn't still 1918 here, is it?"

"Okay, let me explain this to you as delicately as possible. Trespassers?  Uh....you're German, probably familiar with the beliefs of that one carpenter, and you're about ten years too early for Lovecraft, so lemme say, uh....well, you know Hell? These guys make Hell look like a country fair.  They also do real bad things to just about anything they touch, like....uh....turn them evil and eat them. And....well, I don't actually KNOW if it's 1918 here, but I'm assuming it isn't, given they know what an inhaler is. Where I'm from, at least, it's 2018. Ish. Your human years really mix together for me sometimes."

UB-65 sat back in her chair in shock. I-Its 2018 where she is from?! 100 years!?!? T-This has to be a dream...

She took a moment to steady her thoughts and to slow her breathing which had become harsh and wheezy. She leaned forward in her chair, "So, if these are as bad as you say they are how do we plan to beat them? Can they even be defeated?" She reached carefully over and gave her hand a hard pinch just in case she would wake up from it.

She frowned at the fact that that wasn't the escape she had hoped for, "So, what do you need from me with these 'Trespassers'?"
