I assumed it. However, and as you imply, there are 3 possible scenarios:

1. The Duchess roleblocked a scum (Caimie), and that's why there was not a kill.

2. The Duchess roleblocked a scum, and a scum with the roleblocking ability acted on Caimie (town).

3. The mafia abstained from doing the kill. Admittingly, this option is the most interesting. It would certainly be quite clever, as we would assume option 1 by default, so we'd lynch whoever the Duchess said they roleblocked.

Just to make things clear @purplecicada are you claiming Duchess?

I was the original Old Maid, so work it out.

I don't know why Nicki would insinuate the existence of the 2nd possibility as it increases her chances of being scum herself, but it's interesting.

Posted

Since you know the role PM of the Duchess, do you think you could ask Nicki any question to prove she's actually holding that role? @NickCrash

EDIT: I now see your edition, we were thinking the same. Anyway, my second statement still stands.

Yes, I know you didn't say it. I edited it so that it conveys the message better and does not appear to be targeted at a specific person.

I also meant to include your suggestion in that. For Nicki to prove it, she would have to give me something, about either the Duchess or the Old Maid.

Pepper and similar spices.

Although with this information, I appear to have drawn a large target on my back.

Would it be too soon to reveal to whom you've given the curse?

As a matter of fact, and in the town's interest, I believe that it should not be said when the Old Maid role is successfully passed (or to whom, for what it's worth). Only when they find a scum. Right?

I thought you'd say that.

I don't disagree completely, but I'll list my reasons

1. It helps monitor the position

2. A failed attempt would signify mafia

An improvement would be a declaration a day after, which meets the criteria and has successfully removed the target from the previous owner.

This way we may lose its current position and have trouble determining whether the claim is genuine or not.

For example, if someone killed you, the next owner has no reason to reveal.

@Candy Do you mean to say you've found out how to read Bean?

Posted

LOL @NickCrash unless I'm being played by Bean's randomness, "alaris targetted a town, he is no longer useful" sounds like he knows Alaris targeted town fosho and the only wae he can be so sure is 1. if he got his role swapped or 2. the penguin told him(?) which is unlikely.

Hm, I admit I hadn't thought of anybody in the chain dying. You're right, we could lose their position that way.

However, I'm not sure whether it compensates the perk of not saying anything.

A failed attempt would indeed mean Mafia, and that's why I suggested them to disclose it, if such a case ever happens.

Your reasoning is out of focus.

Simple stuff. A succesful attempt means Town, and that means one less suspect.

The only goal of all this is not only to find mafia.

That we know, but hiding information on who is a Townie will be dangerous in case the Old Maid dies before saying who it was.

There's one thing that's bugging me right now...

@Filthy Casual why were you so supportive of Archeric? I recall you saying somethings like "what did Archeric do to deserve this" and "Archeric, I thought you were dead and I'm glad to find you alive". Please give us explanation and perhaps a list of people you think are scum. No need to role claim yet.

Another thing that bugs me...

@Cataline why did you vote me last minute when Archeric's lynch was a given?

Yet another thing that might be useful to know...

@purplecicada now that you've role claimed and been confirmed + under mafia's radar now rip sorry, who did you role block on N1 (aka night before last)? Was it Jace, Cataline or me? This might show that there is indeed a second role blocker, likely mafia (which wasn't apparent from D1). Moreover, I find it strange that @Jace Stormkirk didn't elaborate further on his getting role blocked when Alaris asked him about it 🤔

Finally...

@Caimie tri to defend yerself, or yaw might get lynched this day phase!

Posted

@Candy the way I read Amber's previous message, I thought Eric was killed by Mafia. When I read "meow can we lynch archerc now, a message said to me that he was "mafia/third party", I assumed he was being framed or something like that. I've been busy running through the Mystery Dungeon games, so I admittedly didn't really read it properly.

As for scum... I don't know. I'm sorry I can't really help on that front, but I'd suggest to start looking for people that haven't really been too active (yes, that includes me).

Well, I decided to roleblock Jace on N1 because I didn't like his behaviour shown on D1. I also did roleblock Caimie N2 because I found her contributions to be kind of... odd.

Part of me wanted to roleblock Sparks because of behaviour shown, but I figured if he was maf and they're taking it in turns for the night kills, Sparks would never carry out these kills if they know a roleblocker exists (which, they do now) until that problem has been dealt with.

Although, you brought up a good point about Jace, Candy. Why didn't he elaborate when he was prompted? It could be that he is scum. Playing as mafia with him in a previous game makes me lean in the scum direction for Jace, because he's not acting very different than what he did in that game (which iirc was what lurks below).

The only reason I've roleclaimed is because I think it would be odd for the mafia to abstain from killing when they have plenty of towny-like people to deal with.

Also, before I forget, I received a message that told me that LykosHands didn't visit anyone.

Too bad for Jace, because I'd have been more inclined to believe him town had he been role-blocked by a supposed mafia role blocker.

I still don't know why Cataline's action failed on me, though, because in my stoopid brain the only way that could've happened was if I'd been targeted by a nurse and thus role blocked + protecc'd. But could the nurse be mafia? Idt it's jailer since I wasn't in contact with the jailer, and mafia would've killed me had they jailed me 🤔

@Candy Is it possible your role prevents another role from being used if they happen to target you, or if someone else visits the same person you do? I am not sure if that's even a thing.

I'm out of ideas. 🤷‍♀️

Posted

Not that I know of, and me thinks if roles couldn't target me I'd be OP :venus_shrug: so I'm more inclined to think it's Cat's role that ain't compatible with mine lul

Oh that's nice that no one died in the last night phase. Also about that message, yes i didn't visit anyone last night.

So do you think that Jace could be mafia?

Caimie's lack of defence makes me think she could also be scum. As for Jace, I'm not 100% confident but I'm leaning that way.
