My Awesome Pokemon Adventure

An hour had passed since I left Serra’s Gym to go train my Pokemon, as well as heal my hand. My team had leveled up some and gotten stronger. When I made it back to Serra’s Gym, it was still raining. So I was glad to finally be out of the rain and into a house. Before I went into the room Serra was in, I noticed the computer that contacts Ame. I hadn’t talked nor seen her in a while. I pressed the button and Ame’s face popped up.

 

Ame: Matthew? Is that you?

Matthew: Yep. Long time no see Ame.

Ame: It’s been so long. I see you’re at Serra’s estate.

Matthew: Yea. It’s been 1 hell of a journey to get here.

Ame: I can only imagine. So anything new with yo- Wait… Whoa. What the heck happened to your cheek?

Matthew: Incident with a Garchomp.

Ame: Wait! You wait up against a Garchomp?!

Matthew: Well it’s not like I did it on purpose!

Ame: Wow… Well, it’ll at least be a cool scar.

Matthew: I suppose so. Ohh. And I’m also dating Laura.

Ame: Laura? You mean the member of the Elite 4 Laura?

Matthew: Yea… Is that a problem?

Ame: No. I just… I never expected her to be with someone. She always seems… Timid or afraid or something of that nature you know?

Matthew: Yea. I have to deal with that sometimes but I think she’s gotten good.

Ame: Well that’s great. I’m happy for you both Matt. Anyways, you prob want some pointers on Serra’s Gym right?

Matthew: Well, unless you can tell me something else besides light and beam attacks bounce back, missing a physical attack will cause the user to take damage and that evasion and critical hits are higher than normal, not really?

Ame: Umm… How did you know all of that?

Matthew: Her son Bennett.

Ame: Ahh. Yes. He always battles his mother’s challengers before they officially battle her. He wants to become and Gym Leader some day.

Matthew: Yea. I heard…

Ame: Well I guess the only info I can give you is that if you can shatter the mirrors somehow, her advantage will be gone.

Matthew: Well, I don’t know what would destroy the mirrors but thanks for the heads up there.

Ame: Alright. Well hey. It was nice talking to you again.

Matthew: It was nice talking to you too Ame.

Ame: Good luck Matthew. Bye!

Matthew: Later.

 

And with that, the call was over. I walked up through the rooms and finally made it to the area where I last saw Serra. She was still standing where she was last time but looked bored. I stopped at the opposite side of the arena and held a PokeBall in my hand. Serra noticed me and took her place as well.

 

Serra: Took your sweet time didn’t you Matthew?

Matthew: I decided to get some training in while healing my hand which you can see is now all healed up.

Serra: Good. Let me formally introduce to you my arena. Welcome to my Gym.

Matthew: It looks nice… and shiny.

Serra: You, along with my others, may consider it vain, but I’ve always had a fond of mirrors. They reflect much more than appearances.

Matthew: Ohh don’t tell me you’re 1 of those people that things the reflection is a different version of you.

Serra: Of course not.

Matthew: Alright. Goo-

Serra: I’ve watched my whole life painted in a silver frame.

Matthew: Ohh… You’re 1 of THOSE people.

Serra: But that frame is not the same anymore. Splintered and shattered… Just how my life is now. Which is fine, I suppose.

Matthew: Jeesh… Are you ok?

Serra: I’m fine. Thanks. The Ice Type, it’s the most beautiful. Within reflections and crystal imperfections, there’s art.

Matthew: I suppose you’re right about that.

Serra: Ahh. My apologies. Enough about me. I’m sure you don’t wanna listen to an old doll ramble on.

Matthew: You’re not that old and you look fine.

Serra: Thank you for the kind words Matthew. -pulls out a PokeBall but in an elegance way- But know this. This will be over before you know it. Just like everything else.

 

 

 

After the winner of the battle had been determined, Serra sighed and closed her eyes. I was afraid I might have done something wrong but she opened them back up and a smile of some sort could be seen upon her face.

 

Serra: It seems I’ve already reached my breaking point.

Matthew: I don’t know about that. That was a VERY close battle Serra.

Serra: -walks over to me with a badge in her hand- Here you go Matthew. This Rime Badge badge is yours now.

Matthew: Wow…

 

I looked at my new badge and smiled at it. I now had 6 badges. I took out my badge case and placed the Rime Badge inside.

 

Matthew: Thanks Serra.

Serra: You’re welcome. So, I suppose that’s the show. If-

 

At that moment, the whole house shook. It only lasted a couple of seconds but it was still kind of frightening.

 

Matthew: Again with that?

Serra: Who wants to bet that was the PokeCenter this time? Hell. Maybe the whole Grand Hall came down on us this time. I gotta go check it out.

 

Serra left the room to go investigate what made that noise. I stood in the same place for about a minute or 2 just in case it were to happen again. After nothing had happened, I walked back out and into the main room. I could see Serra was sitting down on the couch. I went past her to exit the house but I looked back at her and she didn’t seem to have any expression on her face. She seemed distant. I stopped and turned to her.

 

Matthew: Serra? Is everything alright?

Serra: Well… The good news is that the PokeMart isn’t on the roof anymore.

Matthew: I wonder where it ended up at now.

Serra: Who knows. But if I had to guess, it shouldn’t be too far from here.

Matthew: Well I hope you’re right. I need to get medicine for a friend of mine.

Serra: Ahh. So that’s why you seemed annoyed you couldn’t get into the PokeMart. Well I hope you are able to find it and get the medicine for them.

Matthew: Thanks.

Serra: Anyways… the bad news is that Bennett isn’t here anymore.

Matthew: What? Why?

Serra: I guess that El person has some kind of connection with the league. My son said he’ll be studying with him to join the Elite 4.

Matthew: El… I don’t trust him.

Serra: Why?

Matthew: Something about him just gives me a bad vibe. And his mentioning of his daughter Luna… Just seems like a bad dude.

Serra: Hmm. Maybe… But still, my son in the Elite 4? That would be something.

Matthew: I mean I guess…

Serra: But I should feel happy for my son right? I should…

Matthew: Serra?

Serra: … Matthew, can I ask you for a favor?

Matthew: Yea. What’s up?

Serra: I don’t know if it’ll ever happen but if you ever run into him somewhere, please look out for him for me.

 

I looked into her eyes and could see the concern for her son. I could understand why she didn’t feel all that thrilled with him going off to the Elite 4. While he did creep me out, I didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.

 

Matthew: Yea… Yea sure.

Serra: Thanks. I’m sure he can take care of himself but… Well you could probably already see but he doesn’t always make the best choices.

Matthew: Yea. I could see that. I’ll look after him though. When or if I ever see him.

Serra: Thanks again Matthew… All things fade away it seems…

Matthew: Well… I’m gonna head out now. Thanks for the battle and badge and everything.

Serra: You’re welcome. Farewell Matthew.

 

And with that, I walked out the doors. Unfortunately for me it was still raining. So I had to walk through the town, through the weird ass forest to get back to the cave. But as I was getting to the entrance of the cave, I noticed a familiar blue building that wasn’t there before. And then it hit me.

 

Matthew: Oh my Arceus! The PokeMart got teleported here! I can get the medicine!

 

I walked in and walked up to the cashier. Obviously, he felt scared and concerned.

 

Matthew: Uhh… You doing alright buddy?

Cashier: I’ve been teleported Arceus knows how many times! It’s a frightening experience! So no! I can’t say that I am! Unlike that kid over there!

 

I looked over and saw a small child jumping up and down thrilled with this teleporting business. He seemed to be having a blast. But I could understand why the cashier would be scared.

 

Matthew: Well I could understand that… Buuuut could you give me some medicine please?

 

The guy gave me a sharp look. He sighed and went underneath the desk and got a bottle of liquid that would surely get Anna back to health.

 

Matthew: Thanks. How muc-

Cashier: Just go. On the house. I just need to figure out what to do.

Matthew: Uhh, ok… Thanks.

 

I quickly walked out of the PokeMart. That guy seemed to have gotten mad at me for asking him if I could buy something. But I couldn’t think about that right now. I had to get back to the house to get Anna better!

I raced through Tanzan Mountain and through the garden that led up through the house. I was happy that I was able to get my 6th badge and get the medicine for Anna but I was also exhausted. By the time I got back to the mansion, it was nighttime. It was also raining which didn’t help. I was looking forward to just giving Anna her medicine and having a good rest in a comfy bed with my girlfriend. I walked through the door but was a little surprised no 1 was downstairs. Then I remembered about Anna.

 

Matthew: -thinking to myself- They must be up in her room making sure she’s ok.

 

 

I walked over to the steps and climbed them and entered Anna’s room where everyone was. I walked over to Laura and hugged her.

 

Laura: Hunny! You’re back! How are you doing? Did you get what you needed?

Matthew: I’m good but also tired. And yea. I got both my 6th badge and the medicine for Anna. Although wow. When I have a good rest, I have a lot to tell you guys.

Charlotte: Well how about you give Anna her medicine 1st.

Matthew: Ohh yea. -walks to the front of the bed- Hey Anna. Here’s some medicine for you.

 

Anna slowly opened up her eyes and looked at Matthew across from her bed.

 

 

Anna: Huh? You got medicine?

Matthew: -hands the medicine to Anna- I sure did.

Noel: It’ll make you feel better. So drink it.

Anna: Oh my gosh… Did you go and get this Matt?

Matthew: I sure did.

Anna: Thank you so much! I’m sure Nostra will really appreciate this!

Everyone: What?!

Anna: Here you go Nostra. This will make you feel better.

 

 

Anna tipped the bottle of medicine over and the liquid went all over the doll. I stood there in disbelief as I watched the medicine fall onto the doll.

 

 

Matthew: Ohh no. I’m gonna have to go get another bottle of medicine aren’t I?

Laura: Anna, stop that! What are you doing?! You really shouldn’t be pouring that onto your doll…

Noel: Anna! You’re gonna waste the medicine of you do that!

Anna: What do you mean wasting it? If I don’t have Nostra drink this, how will she get better. She’ll be sick even longer!

Charlotte: Ohh Anna. We’re not worried about Nostra. We’re worried about you.

 

 

But it was all too late. Anna had “given” the medicine to her doll. Everyone had a disappointed look on their face. Anna seemed confused.

 

 

Anna: Why do you guys look like that? Look! She drank it all! See?

Noel: It’s soaked.

Matthew: Not to mention the blanket and sheets are also wet from that too.

Anna: But she feels oh so much better now!

 

 

To the surprise to all of us, Anna jumped down from the bed onto the floor. Laura almost fell down. She seemed way better than a couple of minutes ago despite not being the 1 to “drink” the medicine.

 

Anna: Thank you Matthew!

Matthew: Umm… You’re welcome I guess?

Anna: You saved Nostra’s life!

Noel: But she’s not-

Matthew: -whispering- Noel, remember what I said.

Noel: Ohh. Uh… Right. Umm… He sure did.

Charlotte: Well, she certainly seems to be feeling better. I’m not sure how but I feel better about it.

Laura: I guess that’s all that counts.

Matthew: It sure does hun.

Anna: Matthew, I’m sorry Nostra caused all this trouble! But I appreciate you going to get medicine for her!

Matthew: It’s no problem Anna. Like I said, I was happy to do it. Now it’s time for me to-

Anna: Now to make it up to you?

Matthew: Hmm? That’s ok Anna. I just rea-

Anna: Ohh I know! Noel! You and Nomos should have a Gym Battle with Matthew right now!

Matthew: Right no- It’s ok. I can wait til later.

Noel: Besides, it’s raining outside Anna and-

Anna: Come on Noel! I just know that it’s gonna be important that Awesome collects every badge really soon!

Matthew: I appreciate the gesture but I can really wait til tomo-

Anna: It only makes sense! We have 2 Gym Leaders right here!

Charlotte: Yea. Matt isn’t on my level yet but I wouldn’t mind seeing him have a Gym Battle now.

Matthew: But guys-

Anna: So you’ll do it right Noel?

Noel: Umm… -sigh- I guess so.

Anna: Yay!

Matthew: -whispering- What do you mean yes?!

Noel: -whispering- I’m just remembering what you said. Better to go along with her to make it better. Besides, you know her. She won’t stop til it happens.

Anna: Yay! Let’s go outside and watch Matt beat Noel for his Gym Badge!

 

 

Anna rushed out of the room and down the stairs. Everyone was left shocked at the events that just occurred.

 

 

Matthew: I will get you back for this Noel.

Noel: Ohh stop. It’s just a Gym Battle. Even if you lose, at least it’ll get her quiet for a few hours.

Matthew: Haha. If I lose? It doesn’t even sound like your sister has any faith in you at all. She literally told everyone to watch me beat you.

Noel: That’s not… You… Just come outside and we’ll do this already. -leaves the room and goes outside-

Laura: I… I have ceased to understand her… or any of this to be honest.

Charlotte: Me either. But that’s why she’s so interesting. Alright. Everyone, let’s get going.

Laura: Good luck Matt. You got this.

Matthew: Thanks babe.

 

 

Everyone walked down the stairs and out the doors where Anna and Noel were as well as the rain. I took my place on the opposite side of Noel. Something seemed different about Noel. He still seemed his normal self but he also seemed to have some kind of determination in his face. We each clutched a PokeBall into our hand.

 

 

Matthew: I wanted to get some rest and relaxation but I suppose beating you for your badge before a good rest will be even more satisfying.

Noel: Just because Anna said she wanted you to beat me for my badge doesn’t mean it’s going to happen Matthew.

Charlotte: Alrighty then. This battle will be a 6 on 6 Single Battle. Either trainer is allowed to make- Saphira!

Matthew: Who?

 

 

Everyone looked across the lake and saw something flying towards us at lightning speed. It flew passed us and then back down to us. It was a Dragonite with a girl on the back of it. She looked familiar to me though.

 

 

Saphira: Charlotte. You’re here.

Charlotte: I’m surprised to see ya sis.

Saphira: And Anna, Noel. You all escaped. How?

Charlotte: Matthew and Shelly over here helped us. We’ve gotten away from the Doctor twice already. Aaannnd guess what el-

Saphira: Save it. It’s about to be 3 times.

Matthew: Huh? What do you mean?

Saphira: The Doctor. He’s coming here. Along with Team Meteor. And they’re coming now.

Shelly: W-Well what do we do?

Saphira: Well a group is coming across the lake. Which means-

Laura: Our only option of escape is cut off. What should we do now?

Matthew: Easy. We fight.

Saphira: -looks at me- This guy has the right attitude. Alright. Listen up everyone. Charlotte, Anna, Noel and uh… Umm… you girl.

Shelly: I-It’s umm… It’s actually-

Saphira: Not important right now. Get inside now and find somewhere to hide.

Charlotte: Wait what? You want me to hide? Hell no. I’m not going to go run and hide. It’ll be more fun to melt their faces off.

Matthew: I mean I have to agree. Why would you have her hide?

Saphira: You don’t get to have a word in this. The Doctor still has potential legal authority over you since you’re not an adult yet. Maybe we cn resolve the escape charge but we don’t want you to have to deal with resisting arrest twice. This is how it’s gonna be.

Charlotte: But-

Matthew: Charlotte!… She’s right.

Spahira: Laura and Matthew was it? I’m charging you 2 with defending the house. If ANYONE gets in… destroy them. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is going to touch my family! Do you understand Matthew?

Matthew: Of course I do. I don’t want anything happening to you guys… Especially you Laura.

Spahira: Good. The Doctor is coming around the long way. Team Meteor, however, is on the water.

Matthew: Wow… Team Meteor is just getting more stupid everytime we have to deal with them.

Saphira: You’re right about that. I’m sure they think they’re being clever making sure we can’t escape but there’s 1 flaw in their plan with that.

Laura: What’s that?

Matthew: They’re vulnerable to attacks. Easy pickings for Saphira I’m guessing.

Saphira: Correct. I’m going ahead and take down as many of them as I can. You all know what to do right?

Everyone: Yes!

Saphira: Good. Alright Dragonite. Forward!

 

 

The Dragonite flew out towards the lake as we all made our way inside the house. I could already hear the sounds of moves being used and cries being let out. I didn’t dare look back though. We all gathered in the room to discuss a plan.

 

 

Matthew: Alright. What are we gonna do here?

Noel: I’m not sure. There’s not really a lot of good hiding spots here. If anyone gets in, they’ll easily be able to find us.

Charlotte: That means that Matthew and Laura are our primary line of defense. Which is good. Laura is-

Matthew: No offense Charlotte but we already know she’s part of the Elite 4. We need to hurry this up.

Shelly: Umm… I have an I-idea…

Charlotte: Shoot.

Shelly: Well umm… we shouldn’t hide in the same place so we should maybe umm… split up?

Laura: That’s probably a good idea.

Anna: Ok! How about myself and Noel hide upstairs?

Charlotte: Then Shelly and me will find somewhere in the kitchen to hide.

Matthew: Alright. Laura, where do you wanna be? Down here or upstairs? Whichever you don’t choose, I’ll guard that area.

Laura: Umm… I’ll take upstairs and you’ll stay down here. Is that ok hun?

Matthew: Sounds good to me babe.

Laura: Good. Although, PLEASE try to be gentle with the living room.

Matthew: I’ll uhh… try my best hun.

Charlotte: Sounds like a plan.

 

 

Anna and Noel ran upstairs to hide as Charlotte and Shelly ran into the kitchen to hide. Laura and I stood in the living room for a couple more seconds.

 

 

Matthew: Alright. You ready for this hun?

Laura: Yes. Thank you Matthew.

Matthew: Anything for you. Ok. Now get upstairs fast.

Laura: Right.

 

 

We both hugged each other and then kissed. Laura then ran upstairs to guard the twins. I stood in the middle of the living room waiting for someone, anyone to come in. It was a bit nerve wrecking. I didn’t know what was gonna happen or who was gonna come through those doors. But shortly, I got my answer. It was Dr. Sigmund.

 

Matthew: Great. It’s you.

Dr. Sigmund: Ahh. We meet again.

Matthew: I’m going to give you 1 chance. Just turn around and walk out the door and you won’t have to humiliate yourself.

Dr. Sigmund: Intriguing offer but I’m afraid I have to decline.

 

 

Just then, 2 orderlies that belonged to The Doctor came in and stood by his side. I grabbed a PokeBall from my belt.

 

 

Dr. Sigmund: See, I have no intention of extending the same mercy as when wet met last time.

Matthew: Well if I may be honest, I’m somewhat upset we didn’t have our little encounter.

Dr. Sigmund: -laughs- You are quite intriguing. But anyways, I am here to reclaim what you have stolen from me.

Matthew: Stolen? Wow. You talk as if they’re objects. Not humans. What happened that made you like this?

Dr. Sigmund: Silence! Those children! They belong at the orphanage! They are my property!

Matthew: Do you hear yourself talking? They’re your “property?” They are human beings.

Dr. Sigmund: It does not matter what they are. All that matters is that they come back. Orderlies? Go search the upper floor. I shall eliminate Matthew here.

Matthew: -watches as the orderlies walk up the stairs and shouts to Laura- Be on your guard Laura! Some orderlies are headed your way! -looks back to Dr. Sigmund- So… Ready to dance old man?

 

 

 

The battle was fierce but in the end, I came out the winner. However, the look on the Doctor’s expression on his face barely changed.

 

 

Dr. Sigmund: -laughs- Ahh. It doesn’t matter what you try to do. Any of you. Your petty resistance only delays the inevitable.

Matthew: What do you-

 

 

Before I could finish my sentence, the door swung open and a man came inside. I recognized who it was.

 

 

Matthew: Fuck. It’s you… Sirius.

Sirius: Yes. It is me. But blast that feral woman!

Dr. Sigmund: Sirius. Your men. Where are they?

Sirius: For all I know, they’re dead.

Matthew: Yea. It prob wasn’t the smartest idea to just try to cross the lake was it?

Sirius: You! Shut your mouth up! That accursed woman with the Dragonite… She just swooped down and shot at us as we were crossing the lake. Luckily for me though, I clipped her wings in return.

Matthew: No way…

Sirius: And then I drug myself out of the water. Now listen here Matthew. I am NOT leaving here empty-handed! Do you hear me?! I won’t allow it?! Where are the children?!

Matthew: Why the fuck would I tell you that? Unlike you, I’m not stupid.

Sirius: Hmm. Doctor, I can’t help but notice that there are 2 of us but only 1 of Matthew.

Matthew: But may I point out that 1 of you can’t use your team of Pokemon because they are knocked out.

Sirius: That hardly matters. So here’s what we’ll do. I’ll go over here and you Doctor go over there. Whoever Matthew decides to stop will be free to get the children.

 

 

As Sirius said, he went on 1 side of me as the Doctor went to the other side of me. I was in the middle. I had to think of what to do. I thought about the last time I had battled Sirius. I was victorious but I also had Cain at my side. And my team wasn’t anywhere near at full health to battle him again. So I decided to make sure the Doctor didn’t move.

 

Matthew: -thinking to myself- I hope Laura can take care of herself against Sirius.

Sirius: -laughs- So that’s how it is is it? Fine. I’ll just take a look upstairs.

 

 

As I held the Doctor in place, the door again flung open but this time, it was Saphira. And she looked severely pissed. In fact, she looked so pissed that it made me weaken my grip on The Doctor.

 

Saphira: Sigmund.

Dr. Sigmund: Saphira. -laughs- This is great. With your presence here, that all but confirms that your sisters must be here after all. Ohh Charlotte?~ Where are you?~

Matthew: Do you honestly think that she’ll just-

Saphira: Sorry Sigmund but there’s no 1 here. Only me.

Matthew: A-And me!

Dr. Sigmund: Hmph. That’s “Doctor” to you.

Saphira: You? A doctor? No. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. You know what you are? A criminal. Is that a scar I see? I heard that she left 1 on you. It brings me joy to see that on you. I wanna ask you something. How does that make you feel? It has been a while… hasn’t it? But trust me Sigmind, I remember VERY well how “nicely” you treated my sisters and I back at the orphanage. And now? Now is the time I returned the favor. Hold still.

Dr. Sigmund: What… What are you-

Saphira: Come on out Dragonite! Use Hyper Beam!

Matthew: HOLY SHIT! -jumps for cover-

 

 

I jumped behind a bookcase as the Dragonite launched its Hyper Beam right at Dr. Sigmund. I didn’t see the attack launch but when I looked back, I could see no trace of Dr. Sigmund. All I saw was smoke, rubble and a huge hole in the wall.

 

Matthew: Whoa… Holy fuck.

Saphira: Hm. Well “Doctor,” I do believe we’ve made a break-through this session.

Matthew: That was intense.

Sirius: Poison Jab!

 

 

Out of nowhere, a Seviper slithered fast over towards Saphira and used the move it was told to use. In a matter of seconds, she fainted. I was shocked and horrified.

 

Matthew: What the… You-

Sirius: This is a day of misery. You there Matthew! You should be glad that that woman softened us up! Otherwise, I’d have ripped that girl to pieces upstairs. Although… Let’s just say that it’ll be hard to not think of me while you 2 hold hands. -laughs-

Matthew: Wait. What? What did you do to her?!

I couldn’t do anything but watch him pick her limp body up into his arms and walk out the door with her. I started running towards the door that leads to the upstairs when I ran into Laura coming downstairs.

 

 

Laura: Hunny! You’re ok!

Matthew: I am but what did that dude do to you!?

Laura: I’m fine. I-

 

 

I grabbed her hand and examined it. There was nothing wrong with her hand from what I could see but then I looked up her arm. There were bruises there. As if someone grabbed her by the wrist and squeezed really hard. She took her hand back and somewhat blushed.

 

Matthew: Why did he do that to you?

Laura: I… I don’t know. But I’ll be fine.

Matthew: I’m gonna smash his face in next time I see him.

Laura: No! It’s not worth it.

Matthew: Hunny, he hurt you. He hurt my woman. I’m not gonna let him get away with that. And if Saphira were here, I’m sure she’d say the same thing.

Laura: Wait. Where is my sister?

Matthew: Shit. You don’t know. Well… She got-

Laura: Oh no! -runs closer to where the hole in the wall is-

Matthew: I know it’s hard to hear this babe but-

Laura: The wall!

Matthew: She… Wait. The wall?

Matthew: That… This… 1st off, Spahira made that mess. Not me. 2nd off, Saphira was kidnapped by Sirius.

Laura: They took her instead of the kids? Why?

Charlotte: WOW. Big mistake on their part. -walks out of the kitchen- Knowing her, she’ll just destroy them from the inside-out.

 

Matthew: I think I agree with you. After seeing what she did to the Doctor. Sweet Arceus.

Laura: Well we shouldn’t just let them take her though.

Charlotte: Well obviously it’s a trap. The safest thing to do would be to just her escape. Anyways, everyone ready to go?

Laura: Huh? But didn’t you just say-

Charlotte: All I said was the it would be safest. But that’s not us. We’re family. And that means we’re going to get her back. If the roles were reversed, you KNOW she’d do the same for us.

 

 

Laura stood there for a couple of seconds thinking about it. And then she spoke.

 

 

Laura: You’re right Charlotte. But I’ll be the 1 going. And Matthew, if he wants to come.

Matthew: Hell yea I wanna come. I need to dish out some punishment for what they did to my girl’s wrist.

Charlotte: What? Why?

Laura: Well they were after you in the 1st place. Not me or Matt. So we’ll take care of this.

Charlotte: Ugh. No 1 ever lets me have any fun. Fine. Just… Don’t let anything happen to either of them, ok Matt?

Matthew: I won’t. I promise Charlotte.

Laura: Hmm…

Matthew: Is something on your mind Laura?

Laura: It’s just that… I think that when I came back here, I remember those men were building those machines in the mountain.

Charlotte: Maybe they took Saphira in there somewhere then.

Matthew: Yea. That has to be it.

Laura: Alright. Then it’s settled. Before we leave though, I know your team needs some resting up. So go heal them up. I’ll be waiting outside hun.

I watched as Laura walked outside and then proceeded to go upstairs to heal my Pokemon. As I came back down, I could see Anna and Noel near the entrance way.

 

Matthew: Hey. Are you 2 doing ok?

Anna: We’re good.

Noel: Yea. Laura really protected us against that guy.

Matthew: Uhh… What’s with the look on your face Anna?

Noel: She was eavesdropping.

Anna: What?! No we weren’t! I mean… Maybe? Ok. It was really Nostra that was eavesdropping but not me!

Matthew: Ok. Ok. I believe you.

Anna: Ok. Well Nostra says good luck to rescuing the dragon lady and well…

Matthew: Yes?

Anna: Ohh yea! I remember now! She says that you shouldn’t catch Laura when she falls! Whatever that means. Between the 3 of us, Nostra can be a bit weird sometimes. Anyways, good luck!

 

 

Noel and I just stared at Anna for a few seconds and then I left the stairway and made my way to the door. But as I was walking, I couldn’t help but have those words be repeated in my mind over and over again. What did she mean by that?

I walked outside to meet with Laura but I was shocked to see snow falling from the sky. About 10 minutes ago, it was raining. I noticed Laura staring up at the sky pondering this as well.

 

Matthew: This is… weird.

Laura: It really is. Could… Could Team Meteor somehow behind this?

Matthew: Well I mean… I don’t know. I haven’t been in this region long enough to know if this is a regular occurrence or not. Plus, it could be just a random Pokemon battle but… it might be.

Laura: Hmm… We’ll worry about that later. Right now, we need to find my sister.

Matthew: Right. You go ahead and I’ll catch up to you.

Laura: Alright. Ohh. And before I go… thanks for coming with me right now to rescue my sister.

Matthew: You don’t have to thank me hun. We’re together and she’s your family. It’d be wrong of me to not come.

Laura: -blushes- Well… I’ll run along now. Don’t be too far behind.

 

Laura ran off towards the mountain. I followed suit but a little slower. I entered the mountain and started to look around everyone inside for Laura. Eventually I found her. She was standing in front of a giant steel gate that was blocking the way in front of us.

 

Matthew: Well this is trouble. How are we supposed to past this?

Laura: They were here…

Matthew: Huh? Who were here?

Laura: This is where I saw the men before…

Matthew: Doesn’t shock me. They put up this giant gate here.

Laura: I wish Saphira was here… She would have used her Dragonite to blast through this. -starts sobbing-

Matthew: Hey hey. We’ll get her hun. We’ll find a way through this.

Laura: -sniffs- Y-Yea. You’re right…

 

Laura went up to the gate feeling it for a way to open it. She wasn’t paying attention to the ground and tripped over a rock landing on a bigger 1. The 2nd she fell onto the rock, the gate disappeared down into the ground.

 

Matthew: Whoa…

Laura: Ow! Ugh. Oh no! Now I’m all dirty!

Matthew: Really? We’re on a mission to save your sister and you’re gonna whine about you being dirty?

Laura: Shut up Matthew!

Matthew: Well in any case, it’s a good thing you fell onto that rock.

Laura: Huh? Why is that?

Matthew: Look in front of you.

Laura: Ohh? Ohh! I guess there was a switch there hidden in the rocks…

Matthew: Alright. You go on ahead. I’ll stay back here for a few seconds to make sure no 1 follows us and then I’ll follow suit.

Laura: Alright!

 

Laura went to the next area of the cave as I guarded the now exposed entrance. I was just about to go to where she was until I heard Laura shout something.

 

Laura: Come on out Lilligant!

 

I made 1 last look throughout the cave and ran towards the way Laura went.

 

Matthew: Laura?! Laura! Are you ok?!

 

I rushed in as fast as I could. When I got to where Laura was, I could see Lilligant out and 2 Team Meteor Grunts on the ground but not conscious.

 

Matthew: Whoa whoa wait. What did you do to them?

Laura: I used Lilligant’s Sleep Powder on them.

Matthew: So they’re sleeping?

Laura: Yea. I thought might as well knock them out instead of battling them.

Matthew: Well, I hope you’re ready to battle. You know Team Meteor.

Laura: Right. I know. Alright. I’m gonna go through. Same plan as before?

Matthew: Yea. Just in case someone else comes through. Or if these 2 sleeping beauties decide to wake up early from their nap.

Laura: Alright. Be careful Matthew.

Matthew: You too Laura.

 

We leaned into each other and kissed. Laura glanced back at me before entering the place. As before, I stood guard by the entrance to make sure no 1 went in or if the 2 guards woke up. I decided that it was time for me to go in and so I did. I was taken back by how machinery the place looked.

 

I guess I was expecting it to still look more like a cave. I started to go through the place. Many battles with Team Meteor Grunts occurred as well as solving puzzles to get around the place. I walked into a room and hid behind a room to take a break.

 

Matthew: Jeesh. Battled a lot already and the puzzles are wearing me out. Phew.

Laura: Matt?

Matthew: Laura! Ohh thank Arceus you’re alright!

Laura: I feel the same way with you.

Matthew: So you think there’s any significance of this place? Besides a huge resting place for those 2 Team Meteor Grunts I assume you put to sleep with Lilligant.

Laura: -laughs at my joke- Well looks like they just use this room to store these containers.

Matthew: Why do they need these containers anyways?

Laura: I’m not sure… But this cell right here. Something tells me the Saphira used to be locked up in here.

Matthew: Me thinks she used her Dragonite to get out of there.

Laura: This is both good and bad.

Matthew: Uhh… How is it both and not just good?

Laura: I mean I’m glad she got out of here but… now we don’t know where she is. She’s somewhere alone in this base.

Matthew: Yea and she’s probably kicking ass.

Laura: Maybe…

Matthew: Look, we’ll find her. I promise you that.

Laura: I hope you’re right.

Matthew: Alright. I think it’s time to split up again babe.

Laura: Yea. When you find her, come and find me.

Matthew: Do the same for me.

 

And with that, Laura left the room to explore the rest of the base. I decided to check the room just in case she didn’t see something that could have been useful. I decided to put the 2 sleeping Meteor Grunts into the other cell and lock it so they couldn’t get out. Then, I left the room and resumed my puzzle solving and Meteor Grunt battling journey through their base. I walked into a room with a big computer screen up on the wall. I looked towards the keyboards and saw a person with brightly colored hair. It was Saphira.

 

Matthew: Saphira! I’m so glad you’re safe!

Saphira: Matthew. Damn. You shouldn’t have come here.

Matthew: Well, it wasn’t actually my idea. It was Laura’s. She’s somewhere in here too.

Saphira: Wait. She’s here too? That’s… unlike her. Still though, it would have been better if you both had just abandoned me.

Matthew: I think either way, someone was gonna come here to save you.

Saphira: Charlotte?

Matthew: Charlotte.

Saphira: Well now Laura’s in danger because she came here looking for me.

Matthew: What are you doing in here anyways?

Saphira: I’m trying to get into their security so I can take on the leader of Team Meteor. Just give me a moment.

 

Just then, 2 Team Meteor Grunts ran in to try to stop us. Saphira stopped for a few seconds, looked at them and then looked back at the computer screen.

 

Matthew: Maybe it’s not such a bad thing I’m here after all huh?

Saphira: You’re right. Buy me some time Matthew!

Matthew: Don’t have to tell me twice! Come on you Meteor punks! Time to smash some faces in!

 

Matthew: Is that the best you 2 can do?

Saphira: Got it!

Team Meteor Grunt #1: Damnit! We couldn’t stop them in time!

Saphira: Exactly. You can’t. Now… are you going to run or am I going to burn you 2 to a crisp?

Team Meteor Grunt #2: We… Uhh…

Saphira:… Boo.

Team Meteor Grunts: Ahh! -runs away-

Saphira: Pathetic.

Matthew: I wish I could do that.

Saphira: Let’s go find Team Meteor’s Leader’s room.

Mattthew: Wait wait. I think I should go ahead instead.

Saphire: No. I can-

Matthew: Laura is still in here remember? I’d defend her with my life on the line but if you can find her in time in case she’s in some kind of trouble, she’ll have more chance of survival with you by her side.

Matthew: I’ll go to the Leader’s room and take care of them. You go find Laura. If you find her in time, we could all team up on them.

Saphira left the room. I followed suit and explored more of the base. Soon, I found the main floor of the place.

 

I had to battle many grunts to get access to computer screens to unlock the door. It took sometime but I finally was able to unlock it. As soon as I did, I saw Laura and Saphira zoom right into the room.

 

Saphira: Come on Matt!

Matthew: I-I’ll be right there!

 

I ran in after them. When we got into the room, I could see Dr. Sigmund and ZEL in there as well as an Abra in 1 of those PULSE Machines.

 

Matthew: -shocked- A PULSE Machine…

Saphira: Sigmund…

Dr. Sigmund: Saphira…

Saphira: You’re going to pay for everything you’ve done.

Dr. Sigmund: Is that so Saphira? And what exactly does that include?

Matthew: Wait. How are you even able to stand? I saw you get beamed through the wall by her Dragonite. You were literally just a couple of inches away from it.

Laura: Wait. The hole in the wall was because of Saphira and Dragonite?

Matthew: Babe, I told you that before we-

Saphira: Quiet you 2!

Dr. Sigmund: I really don’t see what I have done wrong. I mean I was only caring for the children that the city assigned to me.

Saphira: Caring? CARING?! You don’t know the meaning of the word. Do you honestly think that pinning a child down and lighting her up is caring for her?!

Laura: Yea… It was bad…

Saphira: Everything you’ve done to me. Do you consider ANY of that caring for me?!

At that moment, Sirius walked into the room and locked his eyes onto mine and vice versa. I could feel the anger building up in me and I imagined that he was doing the same thing.

Matthew: Thought you’d just escape and get away from hurting Laura did you?

Saphira: Wait. He did WHAT to Laura?

Laura: It’s nothing. I-

Matthew: He grabbed her wrist and squeezed. It’s bruised.

Sirius:… No. There are more pressing concerns right now. Move aside now.

Sirius: I do not have time for this. -pushes me aside-

Spahira: That name… Why does it sound so familiar?

Sirius: Familiar? Lin… She is the true leader of Team Meteor. Even Solaris answers to her.

 

Just hearing that name made my cheek start hurting. I still haven’t forgotten what he tried to do to me back on Mt. Pyrous. Laura saw the look on my face, came closer to me and nuzzled my shoulder. Saphira noticed this but her gaze returned back to Sirius.

 

Matthew: I hate Solaris.

Sirius: Ahh yes. I believe his Garchomp left you a little… deformity on your face right?

Matthew: Shut your mouth man.

zeL: Wait. N-Now though? But Abra still won’t listen to us…

Laura: That Abra seems like it’s in pain. What are you doing to it?

zeL: Well… we need to get into a certain place but it’s sealed tight so… we just figured maybe if we amplify Abra’s power and ask it nicely

Matthew: Seriously. You’re forcefully amplifying its power and then TRYING to ask it nicely to do something like that? Idiotic.

Saphira: I agree.

Zel: Shut your mouths. Of course it isn’t working. This stupid thing won’t listen to a single 1 of our damn commands! Constantly and constantly, it’s just causing trouble!

Matthew: Wait a minute… This place is close to Spinel Town. Is this the reason everything is freaking out over there?

zEl: Correct. But unlike previous operations, the objective was not to disturb the nearby areas. Everything that’s happened is because of the side-effect of Abra’s unfocused power.

Sirius: Enough ZEL! Don’t give the enemy intel on the mission here! What you should be doing is getting that thing tamed. Otherwise, Lin will have all of our heads.

Matthew: Umm… I’m not sure if you all have noticed but we’re still here.

Saphira: And we’re still busting up this party! Don’t think you can just ignore us.

Sirius: Ahh yes. My apologies. To make it up to you, you 3 will be our test subjects.

Laura: What…?

Matthew: I don’t like the sound of that.

Sirius: Go ahead ZEL.

Saphira: Allow me to finish what I started on the lake!

 

Saphira charged toward either Dr. Sigmund or Sirius, I wasn’t sure which to be honest, but as soon as she took 1 step forward, she instantly disappeared. Me and Laura looked around the room but she was nowhere to be seen. She was gone.

 

Matthew: Holy shit…

Laura: S-Saphira? Where… where did she-

Sirius: Goodbye Saphira. I’ll enjoy not meeting you again. ZEL, if you wouldn’t mind making the others disappear as well?

Laura: What…?

Matthew: Hold on babe!

 

I awoke laying down on the ground. I sat up and looked around the cave I was in. There was some light coming into wherever I was but it wasn’t that much. I was almost in pitch blackness. I stood up and started walking around. I could notice some containers that looked the same as the ones that were in that room that Laura had seen the destroyed cell.

 

Matthew: Laura! Saphira! Can any of you hear me?!

 

I stayed silent hoping to hear someone reply back to me but I got nothing. No 1 answered back. I was scared and frightened at this point. I had no idea where I was and I was all alone. In fact, I was getting so scared, I couldn’t move. So there was only 1 thing I could do.

 

Matthew: F-Fuck… Wettham!

 

In that instant, I felt my soul switch with his and Wettham was now in control of my body.

 

Wehttam: YeEeEeEeEeEeEs! I am back in the world of the MORTALS! But… have you really called me out because of your fear of the darkness? -stomach grumbles- Alright. Alright. I guess this could count as being scared for your life. Although, tis pushing it a bit. But I’m only doing this until we get somewhere that has more light. Understand? -stomach grumbles calmly- Alright.

 

And with that, Wettham started to roam the cave. He eventually came across an entrance to another cave and went in. As he searched that cave, he saw something hot pink on the ground. He walked over and saw a person. It was Laura.

 

Wehttam: Miss Laura! Are you alright?

Laura: Urgh… Where… where am I?

Wehttam: I’m not sure but it is mysterious.~

Laura: Wait… Matthew?! Hold on. You look like him but you sound different… Wehttam right?

Wehttam: Ahh. A morsel has identified me. This is absolutely WONDERFUL! Yes. It is I, Wehttam!

Laura: So that means that Matt got scared right?

Wehttam: Apparently he can’t handle darkness.

Laura: Hehe. Oops. Can he still hear me?

Wehttam: Yes. He can.

Laura: Ohh. I’m sorry Matt.

Wehttam: Something tells me he does not mind as long as you’re feeling secured and happy right now.

Laura: That does sound like him. Hehe. -looks at her clothes- Ew. My outfit is all dirty.

Wehttam: While I apologize for the what has happened to your clothing, I think we should find a way out of here.

Laura: Yea. You’re right. Let’s go Mat- I mean Wehttam.

 

They started walking through the cave searching for a way out or at least for more light. The smell was getting to Laura though.

 

Wehttam: Are you quite alright there Miss Laura?

Laura: I’m fine. It just smells awful down here.

Wehttam: Yes. It certainly doesn’t have that good smell I’ve been used to.

Laura: And all of this weird… looking… liquid on the ground. Is it some kind of acid?

Wehttam: I would assume not since it is not melting the ground away. This is a strange place indeed.

Laura: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7… Oooo! Can’t there be another 1 somewhere here?

Wehttam: I don’t mean to be nosy madam but what are you doing?

Laura: Ohh. I’m sorry. That must have been really weird. It’s just… I really hate the number 7.

Wehttam: Why is that my dear?

Laura: Well… it just really bothers me when there isn’t an even number of something. I know. It sounds weird but it’s how I’ve always been.

Wehttam: Doesn’t seem all that weird to me yeeees.

Laura: But I’ve always really liked the number 8. It’s just so relaxing to see something set up in 8 parts. Perfect symmetry. I hope that makes sense.

Wehttam: Of course it does. I believe everyone has a special quirk about them. No reason to be given a hard time about it.

Laura: Well Charlotte seems to like to give me 1 all the time.

Wehttam: Yes but from what I’ve seen with Matthew’s interactions with her, she seems to mean well. She just wants you at your best. She just doesn’t see that you could possibly already be there.

Laura: Hmm… I kind of hope I’m not. I mean… I don’t know. Hahaha. Something tells me she’d be laughing at me.

Wehttam: Are you alright Laura?

Laura: Yes yes. I am… There is a reason I hate the number 7.

Wehttam: Well I am all ears Laura. Proceeeeeed.~

Laura: Something 1 of the Meteors said… It reminded me of someone… I think they said “Lin is coming.” I once knew a girl named Lin, back at the orphanage a couple of years ago. She was a little girl. A little younger than Anna in fact. But she was terrifying. Truly terrifying. She would find out others’ secrets and extort them. It was so scary to see just how much pleasure she had from doing that. She may have been young but she was very manipulative. And what was even worse was that she was good at it.

Wehttam: So what did she say to you then?

Laura: Well whenever I finally had 8 of something, she’d take it and then break it, leaving me with 7. And that’s why I hate it.

Wehttam: I am sorry that happened to you Laura. Whatever happened to her though?

Laura: Lin? I’m not sure. In fact, no 1 knows. 1 day she pulled a trick on Sigmund and he got really mad at her. He took her upstairs, locked us in our cells and… we never saw her again. Some of the kids say she escaped while others think the Doctor killed her.

Wehttam: What do you think happened?

Laura: Me? Uhh… I don’t really know. But I know 1 thing. No way is she associated with Team Meteor. She’d be too young…. right?

Wehttam: Well I don’t know her age so I can’t confirm or deny of this possibility. But I think we have spent enough time in this spoOoOoOoky cave long enough does thou agree?

Laura: Yea. You’re right. Let’s find a way out of here.

 

Laura and Wehttam started walking together looking for a way out of the cave or at least for a source of light. Wehttam looked over to Laura and could tell she seemed kind of sad.

 

Wehttam: Is everything alright?

Laura: Yea. I just feel bad that I talked so long down here and wasted our time.

Wehttam: Please do not apologize. It is WONDERFUL to get stuff out so that you shall feel better on the inside. The soul needs it.

Laura: Heh. Well thanks Wehttam. I feel a little better. Ohh! I almost forgot. Saphira got teleported away too.

Wehttam: Do not worry. We shall find her. Whether I am here or Matthew takes over.

Laura: Yea. I hope she’s ok. I mean she’s tough and all but we’ve never been teleported before.

Wehttam: I understand.

 

As they continued for a way out, they kept feeling ground shake. But unlike in Tanzan Mountain, the quakes were way more rougher and harder down here. They came to a stop in front of another cave entrance but also holding onto something to make sure they didn’t fall.

 

Wehttam: These earthquakes are not WONDERFUL!

Laura: They aren’t but it’s interesting. They’re like the ones that’s been going on in Chrysolia. Which means… Which means we can’t be far from Tanzan Mountain! But they’re also stronger down here. Could we be near their source? Come on. Let’s go!

Wehttam: Ahh. There’s light up ahead. You go further and you shall be reunited with Matthew.

Laura: Ahh. I miss him. Can’t wait to hug him. I mean not that I don’t want to hug you. I, umm…

Wehttam: Haha. You need not to be so scared of what has been said. I know what thou means.

Laura: Well it’s been nice getting to speak with you. I’ll see you again maybe.

Wehttam: Farewell Laura! It was a pleasure spending time with you. And may I say you and Matthew make a very sweet couple. YeEeEeEeEs.~

 

Laura blushed and then ran up to the entrance and continued on. Wehttam went through and was greeted with light. He smiled and put his hand on his chest.

 

Wehttam: Well Matthew, light can be seen. It is time to come back to the surface of your body and regain control.

 

And with that, I had retaken control of my body. I stretched a bit. It had been a while since I had last done that. After that, I ran up and finally caught up to Laura.

 

Matthew: Hey hun.

Laura: Matthew! -hugs him- I’ve missed you.

Matthew: Me too babe.

Laura: So I take it you were afraid of the dark. -giggles cutely-

Matthew: Ohh shush. I’m just glad I can actually see stuff right now. But… Where do we go?

Laura: I’m not sure. I hope this isn’t a dead end.

Saphire: Laura? Matthew? Is that you?

Laura: Saphira?! Are you down there?!

Saphira: Yea. I’m stuck at the bottom of this chasm.

Matthew: Wait. How did you know we were up here?

Saphira: The echo is enough for me to hear the 2 of you.

Laura: Ohh. Are you ok?

Saphira: I’m good but there doesn’t seem like a way up from here. And it’s too narrow down here to try to fly.

 

Another earthquake happened. Laura almost fell down into the chasm but I was able to catch her in time and pulled her back up.

 

Matthew: Holy shit! Are you ok hun?

Laura: Yea… Yea I think so. Thank you.

Saphira:… And then there’s that. Are you 2 ok?

Matthew: We’re good but what do we do now?

Saphira: I’m not sure but I know 1 thing. The earthquakes are really bad around here.

Laura: Maybe if we can find the source of the earthquakes, then maybe we could help all of Chrysolia!

Matthew: We probably could.

Saphira: Sounds like you 2 already have a plan. Take a look then. I’ll keep trying to look for some way to climb up.

Laura: Alright! Come on Matt!

Matthew: Alrig- -earthquake happens again- Wha-wha-WHOOOOOAAAAAAAA!

Laura: Matt? Matt no!

 

As soon as the earthquake hit, I lost my balance and started to fall into the chasm below where Saphira was at. I didn’t know what to do except for 1 thing.

 

Matthew: TongueClumsy! HELLLLLLP!

 

Gligar came out of its PokeBall and swooped down towards me as fast as he could. What happened next though shocked me. It couldn’t get to me in time but it touched something on the side of the cliff and it started to glow.

 

I didn’t know what was happening. Now I was worried for my life and for my Gligar’s life. And I watched as it started to change.

 

Soon, it looked completely different. Next thing I knew, something was flying towards me fast. All I did was close my eyes and waited for something to happen. I felt my hands grab onto something and I felt myself starting to go upwards rather than downwards. I opened my eyes and could see that I was now floating in mid-air. When I looked at what I was holding onto, I was surprised.

 

Matthew: Ton… TongueClumsy?

Gliscor: Gli-Gliscor!

 

Gliscor landed back onto where I was before falling. Laura ran over to me and hugged me while sobbing. I returned the hug and wiped away her tears. We both smiled at each other and then back at Gliscor, which was also smiling back at us but, of course, with its tongue out.

 

Laura: I thought you only had a Gligar?

Matthew: I did too.

Laura: Did you throw a Razor Fang to it?

Matthew: No. All I did was well… fall. But it did touch something on the wall when it was flying down trying to catch me.

Laura: It must have been a Razor Fang then. That is insanely lucky.

Matthew: Yea. Thanks TongueClumsy. You seriously saved me there.

Gliscor: Gliscor!

Laura: Well, now that that is over, let’s try to find a way out of here.

Matthew: Yea. That was too close for comfort. You go ahead and I’ll catch up with you.

 

Laura did as I suggested and proceeded down the way we came from. I patted Gliscor on the head and then returned it back to its PokeBall. I walked back down the path I was on before but it was different. Somehow, a new path had opened up going from left to right. Cautiously, I followed that trail all the way down and again met up with Laura. She seemed confused as well.

 

Matthew: I’m not losing my mind right? That pathway just appeared from nowhere…

Laura: Yea… I don’t get it. It wasn’t there before…

Saphira: Hey. Making any progress up there?

Matthew: Well yea but-

Saphira: But what?

Laura: A new passage just randomly popped up.

Saphira: That doesn’t sound good. Whatever did that would have to be extremely strong and huge too.

Matthew: Great. More things to be worried about.

Spahira: Just be on your guard you 2. I’m going to keep moving.

Laura: Alright! Maybe we can meet up with her somehow.

 

Laura zoomed off to see if there was a way out/to see if we could somehow get to Saphira. I stayed behind and checked to see if there was a way for someone to climb up but there wasn’t. I left and was again greeted with a new passage way opened up. It was closer to where I just was. I went downward and met up with Laura.

 

Laura: Damn. Another dead end…

Matthew: And another new passage way…

Laura: How big is this chasm anyways?

Saphira: I have no idea but it smells awful down here. Downright putrid.

Laura: Huh? Why?

Saphira: There’s some kind of industrial fluids down here.

Matthew: Hmm… Maybe it’s from those containers we saw before.

Laura: Ohh yea!

Saphira: They look like the containers from their base. Some kind of energy byproduct.

Laura: But that doesn’t make any sense. How could it have gotten down here?

Matthew: You know, I wouldn’t be surprised if that Abra was the cause of all of this.

Saphira: I agree. It also means we’re not far from their base. Actually, now that I’m looking at these stones, I’d say we’re somewhere in the depths of Tanzan Mountain.

Matthew: What if… What if all this energy byproduct stuff is making the wild Pokemon in here upset?

Saphira: That’s not a bad idea. It could be why there’s a lot of earthquakes here lately. Whatever it is, it must be trying to retaliate against the Meteors for disrupting their home with this toxicity.

Laura: That’s horrible! So it’s Team Meteor’s fault!

Saphira: Yes. But regardless, we need to keep moving. There’s got to be an exit somewhere.

 

Laura raced to find an exit. I never seen her run so fast. Again, I inspected the area I was at and again, there was no way for anyone to climb up or down this cliff. Suddenly, I heard a loud crash and a scream.

 

Laura: AAAHHH!!!

Matthew: The fuck?! Laura?!

Spahira: Laura, are you alright…?! Laura?!

 

The 2 of us stayed silent for a couple of seconds hoping to here her confirm that she was alright. But that’s not what happened. We didn’t hear a thing.

 

Spahira: Matthew! Go find her now!

Matthew: On my way!

 

I darted my way up and noticed yet again another new passage way that had just opened up. I ran down that way and in the distance, I could see Laura face down on the ground. The earthquakes were getting worse as I was reaching my way to her. I finally got to her and knelt down beside her.

 

Matthew: Laura?! Are you alright?! Come on! Wake up! Laura!

Saphira: Matt, can you still hear me?! How is she?!

Matthew: She’s alright! Still breathing but she’s unconscious!

Saphira: Damn! Listen, I don’t know what it is but it’s moving fast! Do whatever you have to do but don’t let Laura- Ahh!

Matthew: What?! What is it?!

Saphira: It’s headed your way! Protect Laura!

Matthew: Right!

 

I stood up and got in front of Laura and stood in position. I didn’t know what was about to happen or what was coming but I knew that I had to protect Laura at all costs. I could feel the ground beneath me move. I could see something rising from the chasm below. It was silver but really gigantic. When its head rose up more for me to see it, I knew what it was.

 

Matthew: Holy shit… That’s a big ass Steelix!

Steelix: Raarrrrgh!

Saphira: That’s what has to be causing the earthquakes! If we beat it, a huge burden will surely be lifted! You subdue it and I’ll get into position!

Matthew: Get into position?! Position for what?! Saphira?! Fuck man! -looks back at Laura- Don’t worry babe! I’ll protect you! -looks back at Steelix- Come on you big dumb steel snake thing! Bring it on!

Steelix: Raarrrgh!!!

 

 

It attacked. It was a fierce battle but I was able to overcome it. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t so sure I could pull it off but I was so glad I did. The Steelix groaned in pain and slid back down into the chasm. I sighed in release but then I could hear someone.

 

Saphira: Giddy-up, you dumb beast!

Matthew: Whoa! How did you-
Saphira: No time for that! Get Laura and bring her here! We’re gonna get out of here!

Matthew: Right!

 

I picked up Laura and held her in my arms. I walked her over to the edge of the cliff and hopped onto Steelix’s head where Saphire was. She had it smash its head against the stone wall and we were able to exit from the bottom of the mountain. By that time, Laura was conscious.

 

Laura: Oogh… What happened?

Matthew: I’m not sure but whatever did happen knocked you out. I protected you from a big Steelix, which we’re actually riding on now.

Laura: Ohh thank you Matthew! -kisses him- And thank you Saphira.

Saphira: We’re family. I always protect my family. But let’s get off of this thing and go out there. It’ll be easier to talk and discuss what to do now.

 

We followed her plan and exited out back to where Laura had 1st put the 2 Meteor Guards to sleep, but they weren’t there anymore. We gathered around each other and discussed our next move.

 

Saphira: Alright. Here’s the plan. Team Meteor needs to be stopped and Laura needs to be taken home.

Laura: It’s not that far Saphira. I can easily get there by my-

Saphira: No. You just regained consciousness. We don’t need you passing out while walking home from possible unknown injuries. I’m not taking any risks of you getting hurt again.

Laura: Saphira, please. I’m fi-

Matthew: No. Listen to her babe. I was worried about that too. Let her take you. I’ll take care of Team Meteor while she takes you home.

Laura: Matt… Alright. Fine.

Saphira: I’m sure you’ll have no trouble with the PULSE Abra and Meteor. I’ll get back here as soon as I can. When you terminate it, get out of there as soon as possible.

Matthew: That was the plan. But from the sound of what they were saying before, their real leader should be here anytime now.

Saphira: And if she gets here, it only means more trouble for us.

Laura: Be careful hun.

Matthew: I will girl. -hugs her- Go back home now.

Saphira: Actually, step outside of the cave and wait for me. I wanna talk to Matt for a second.

Laura: Umm… Ok then. -leaves Matt and Saphira by themselves-

Matthew: Uhh… Did I do something-

Saphira: You 2 are together right? Boyfriend and girlfriend?

Matthew: Yes?

Saphira: Hmm. I see.

Matthew: Is everything al-

Saphira: It’s good to see her getting out of her shell. And she’s definitely changed. She would have never have tried to do something like that before but you… you make her wanna do more. I thank you for that.

Matthew: Well… you’re welcome.

Saphira: I’m sure you 2 have only been together for a little bit of time but from everything I’ve seen you do for not only me but her today… I say you feel like family to me. Somewhat.

Matthew: Ohh… Well thanks for that. I don’t know what to say.

Saphira: Say nothing. But before I go to take my sister home, let me say this. If you break her heart in any way, you’ll have to answer to me. Do I make myself clear?

Matthew: Yes. Y-Yes you do.

Saphira: Good. Now let’s follow through with the plan.

 

Saphira left to take Laura home. I stood there for a moment. I couldn’t believe that she felt as if I was part of the family. I felt good inside. I took a deep breath and entered back into the base. Luckily, the puzzles seemed to have been turned off so it didn’t take me long to get back to the room with the PULSE Abra. When I walked in, I heard ZEL yelling at the Abra.

 

Zel: Gah! Behave you stupid vermin! Behave!

zeL: Umm… Please listen to us Mr. Abra?

 

The Abra sat there for a second and then teleported ZEL to a different part of the room. I almost let out a laugh.

 

Dr. Sigmund: I do believe that was Abra’s way of politely declining.

Zel: You little sh-

Matthew: Hey. Remember me?

Zel: Wait. You… You made it back? Damn. This thing is really useless.

Matthew: Or it just doesn’t want to deal with you.

Dr. Sigmund: Pardon my interruption here but maybe it would be best to just terminate the project before this “Lin” arrives.

Matthew: Hey. For once, I can actually agree with you on something Doctor. Now if only you weren’t a bad dude-

zEl: Shush. But that might be the better option. This level of uncontrolled power would indeed be unacceptable.

zeL: B-But is it really a good thing to hurt the Abra? I mean we put it through so much.

Zel: Well we can’t do anything at all if we can’t even get close enough to deactivate the machine without having that stupid thing making us disappearing and reappearing over and over again!

 

Once again, the Abra teleported ZEL to another part of the room. This time, I couldn’t help but utter a laugh. This was starting to become entertaining.

 

Zel: I don’t need your sass Abra! And I certainly don’t need to see you laughing at us Matt!

Matthew: Look, it’s just too funny.

zEl: Hmm. I have an idea. You wish to spare the people of Spinel Town of this chaos right Matthew?

Matthew: Well yea but-

Zel: Good idea. We’ll have Matt deal with it!

Matthew: I’m sorry. What now?

Zel: Well we can’t deal with it. It’s up to you. I mean you DO want to save Spinel Town right? It’ll work out fot eh both of us and-

 

For the 3rd time in a row, Abra teleported ZEL again but this time, they didn’t reappear just as fast as they disappeared. Even I got worried for a second.

 

Dr. Sigmund: Uhh… ZEL?

 

Luckily though, ZEL reappeared behind me. I turned and saw an angry expression on their face but I still couldn’t help but laugh.

 

Zel: Ugh! That is ENOUGH! Matt, deal with this!

Matthew: I don’t really like this situation. I feel like I’m helping you more than taking you down.

zEl: Think of it like this. You’re helping a Pokemon out of a horrible situation and there won’t be any backlash from it. Plus, the chaos situation in Chrysolia will be put to rest.

Matthew: Fine. I guess I have no other choice.

 

Abra was freed but started to transform. When it was done, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It looked like it had knight armor on it.

 

Matthew: The hell is this?

Zel: Shut up and beat it already!

Matthew: Jeesh. Alright alright.

 

 

It was a surprisingly difficult battle. The armor the Abra was wearing seemed to have given it additional Defensive stats but eventually I was able to beat it.

 

Matthew: Damn. That Abra destroyed have my team!

Dr. Sigmund: In any case, that seems to be a relief. Does this mean that nearby regions will return to normal Eve?

zEl: Any objects that have been moved by Abra’s energy previously will remain where they are.

Matthew: You better hope that nothing else teleports.

zEl: Well unfortunately, there are likely some objects that will still move since they have been imbued with the unstable psychic energy. But I assure you that no more instances of such things well be created again. And slowly, Chrysolia will calm itself.

Matthew: Well I suppose that’s better than nothing positive happening.

Sirius: Lin has just arrived.

Matthew: -turns to face Sirius- Great. Just great. Everytime we come face to face, my Pokemon are too weak to battle you. Why is it-

Sirius: Matthew’s back?

zeL: Umm… Yes. He helped subdue the Abra, so…

Sirius: Blast it all! Ugh. Lin cannot know that there’s an enemy among us. She will be furious.

Matthew: Hmm. I can see the fear in your eyes with you just mentioning her name…

Sirius: You have no idea… Right. Matthew. I don’t like saying this as much as you’re going to hate hearing this but for right now, you’re going to pretend to be among our ranks.

Matthew: What do you mean?

Sirius: You’re a new recruit of Team Meteor for right now.

Matthew: Ohh hell no. No way am I doing it.

Sirius: Listen, unless you want to be obliterated where you stand, you will do this. This is a temporary compromise. We’ll be saving both our skins. Got it?

 

I thought about it for a moment. I HATED the sound of even pretending to be apart of Team Meteor. I thought about maybe making a break for it but if I got caught, I would only have had half my team to take anyone on and I didn’t want to take this chance. Plus, with Sirius even thinking of this idea, Lin must be a scary person. So even though I hated the thought of this pretend join up, I reluctantly agreed.

 

Matthew:… Fine.

Sirius. Good. Now stand back. She’ll be here any second.

 

I backed into the room and looked towards the door waiting for this Lin to arrive. When she arrived, I must admit, I felt very scared. I wanted to call out Wehttam but I didn’t want her to know about that. At least not right now. She had weird hair that was green and weird clothing. But something was bothering me about her.

 

Lin: Report.

Sirius: We experimented with using the PULSE to amplify Abra’s powers to teleport a party into the heart of the ruin.

Matthew: -thinking to myself- A ruin? Just what are they planning?

Sirius: Unfortunately, in the end, Abra’s power could not be controlled and the project was terminated.

Lin: Incompetent. Hmm. Why are these here?

Sirius: Ahh yes. This is Matthew… A new recruit. H ehas been lending a hand with the PULSE-Abra project.

Lin: Ohh Sirius. Lying becomes you.

Sirius: -nervous- I… I beg your pardon?

Lin: What about the other?

Dr. Sigmund: -clears his throat- I apologize for the tardy introduction. My name is Dr. Sigmund. I am a psychiatrist to Reborn City and proud administrator of the city orphanage.

Sirius: A hh yes. He has been a great asset to us. Thanks to his help, we have now obtained 2 of the 4 keys. The Ruby and Amethyst.

Lin: Doctor.

Dr. Sigmund: Forgive me for asking but have we somehow met before? You seem… familiar.

Lin: Impossible.

Dr. Sigmund: Y-Yes.

Sirius: As for the other keys, we are still searching for them. Solaris has a lead on the Sapphire Elias is currently tracking down Emerald.

Matthew: -thinking to myself- Wait. Elias…? El… I knew it. He’s working for Team Meteor. AND he’s using Bennett. This is bad.

 

Just then, a huge explosion could be heard and the entire place shook. Everybody except for Lin seemed shocked of the blast. Just then, a Meteor Grunt walked into the door.

 

Team Meteor Grunt: Sorry for the intrusion Commander but a giant Steelix has just breached the side of the base! It’s tearing it apart!

Sirius: A… what?

Matthew: -thinking to myself- That must be Saphira still controlling that Steelix. Guess she’s back.

 

A loud noise was heard again. Everyone was trying to keep standing except for Lin. Her eyes were locking onto mine. I could feel fear creeping deeper into me. But then it hit me. I remembered why she looked so familiar.

 

Matthew: -thinking to myself- She… she’s 1 of the people I saw on that computer screen at Shade’s Gym. She’s going to blow up somehow… I would feel bad for her but she’s the bad guy.

Lin: Matthew was it? You wouldn’t happen to know anything about this hmm?

Matthew: -nervous- The-The what? Steelix? No. I’ve been uhh… here the whole time…

Lin: Mhm. Size does not equate to strength. I shall deal with this.

 

Lin left. I could only hope that Saphira could somehow take care of herself. Suddenly, There were a series of explosions and loud noises. The place was moving.

 

Sirius: Matthew, leave now. If she doesn’t see you again, it’s better for everyone involved. Get going. This will be your only chance.

Matthew: Fine. But next time we see each other, it’s going to be a different story.

Sirius: Just get going already!

 

I ran through the door and out of the base as fast as I could. I could still hear all the fighting that was going on with Saphira and Lin. I was worried for Saphira’s safety but I knew she could handle herself. When I finally got into the main part of Tanzan Mountain, I heard a very very loud explosion and a loud thud. I didn’t want to think of what could have happened. So I just ran all the way back to the mansion.

Laura (10/10 NO CHANGE!) - Man. This rescue mission was SO tense. But... She seems to have changed. I'm not totally sure if what Saphira said was true but if it is... That's awesome. My girlfriend is awesome.

 

Saphira +1 (8/10) - Wow. She was able to get out of a nasty situation. Although, I do like that she said she felt like I was at least somewhat part of the family and I'm glad she approves of me and Laura's relationship.

 

Dr. Connal -1 (0/10) - Hearing Saphira talking about her past with the Doctor... It only angers me more. I actually do wanna know why he did/does what he did/does. It's fucked up.

 

ZEL +2 (5/10) - Surprisingly, they were very helpful in our confrontation this time. They even somewhat helped me deal with PULSE Abra. As in just letting me deliberately terminate their project. They even told me info on their plan. And it was fun watching Abra teleporting them around the room.

 

Lin (2/10) - Been hearing a lot of stuff about this Lin girl. How bad she was in the orphanage and how torturous she could be. And now that I've met her? I can believe that. Her staring at me felt like she could just kill me with her looks. The only reason I feel any kind of sympathy for her though is because I know of her fate. And even though she probably deserves it, it's still not right.

Well... tbh... I haven't even gotten to E17 stuff (I mean I know what happens there cus I like watching playthroughs) but I was trying to stay away from E18 spoilers and now my heart is full of heartbreak... Well since I'm trying to portray how I am in real life into the game version of me, I wouldn't say I'd become emo. I'd say I'd become more of... a crying, pathetic weirdo. And hey. I gave Noel somewhat of a personality when he basically doesn't have 1 in the game yet. (at least from what I've seen anyways) So I can make Laura cheat. And I even know when I'll have that start.

Ehh. Somewhat but not really. I could see it coming. Just didn't know when we were going to see it. And basically. Break ups always hit really hard for me when they happen. Haha. xD Ohh. As I made it to the mansion, I could see Laura standing out in front of the door. I rushed up to her and hugged her. We both looked back towards the mountain and just stared at it for a couple of minutes. No words were spoken. We then turned around and looked at the mansion with a the hole still there. Laura grabbed and held my hand.

 

Laura: Well… it’s still messy but since my sister did it, I’m not that upset about it.

Matthew: Heh. Yea…

Laura: What happened in there?

Matthew: That Lin showed up. I don’t know why but she just had an intimidating feeling just being around her.

Laura: Whoa. Are you ok?

Matthew: I’m fine. Just… I had to pretend I was part of Team Meteor. That felt really awkward and betraying almost.

Laura: Well it’s not like you did anything for them sweetheart.

Matthew: I know but still…

Laura: Ohh by the way. What did my sister want with you before?

Matthew: She basically said that I’m part of the family. Well somewhat.

Laura: That’s astounding! Saphira never usually says anything like that to almost anyone but myself or Charlotte. You must have really made a good impression if she feels that way towards you.

Matthew: Yea. You’re right. Hey. Why don’t we go inside. We can rest and get out of this rain.

Laura: You’re right. Let’s go in.

 

We opened the door and went inside. Everyone was sitting around the coffee table. We walked up and sat at 1 end. Everyone was relieved that we were ok.

 

Matthew: So, what are you guys doi-

Anna: But she was SO cool riding that giant Steelix!

Matthew: I guess you guys were talking about Saphira?

Anna: Mhm. When she comes back, I wanna take a ride on it!

Noel: Anna, I doubt she made it. I mean she fell off it at the peak of Tanzan Mountain.

Matthew: I don’t know. She’s pretty tough from what I can see. Maybe she’ll be injured but I bet she’ll still be walking and kicking and whatnot.

Anna: Yea! Don’t be like that Noel! Stop lying!

Noel: I’m not. Look, I’m not trying to be negative. I’m just being realistic. Even Nomos says it’s a rough fall. Just… don’t get your hopes up ok?

Shelly: B-But then…

Anna: If you don’t have any hope, then how can you keep moving forward?

Charlotte: Psh. Oh please. I know my sister. She probably called out her Dragonite before crashing into the mountain. Even then, she’d prob crash right through it and be perfectly fine.

Shelly: That reminds me… where are your parents?

Noel: Anna, that Hydreigon didn’t just appear on its own. Someone was riding on top of it. Matt, you were there for a long time? Have any idea who it was?

Matthew: Did she have green hair?

Noel: Yea.

Matthew: Yea. I know who it was. It was Lin.

Charlotte: Lin…? What kind of fucking name is Lin? A stupid name, that’s what.

Laura: Charlotte, she is the leader of Team Meteor.

 

Everyone froze for a second. They all thought they knew who the leader was but that was shocking to them. After a long while of no talking, Anna broke the silence.

 

Anna: Ohh yea! Matt! Laura! Did any of you happen to gen my pendant back?

Laura: No. I’m sorry.

Matthew: Me neither but I think they’re using it as a key.

Anna: A key? What do you mean they’re using it as a key?

 

Shelly’s eyes widened. She looked like she was in shock as well as her brain just remembering something.

 

Matthew: Whoa. You ok Shelly?

Shelly: Anna, where did you get that pendant from?

Anna: I’ve had it since before I was in the orphanage. It’s from my father.

Shelly: Hmm…

Charlotte: If you need something to say, speak up.

Shelly: It’s just… I remembered an old story that I read… In this story, it described an ancient city built around the crash site of a meteor.

Matthew: -thinking to myself- Wait… Meteor… Team Meteor?

Shelly: There was a temple that housed the meteor and it was sealed by for crystal keys: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Amethyst. But the city fell into ruin and it was lost.

Laura: Are you saying that…

Shelly: Anna, what if your Amethyst Pendant is actually the key from that story?

Noel: So that would mean that the ancient city…

Everyone: Became Reborn.

Shelly: So is the temple just underneath Reborn?

Matthew: Ohh no.

Laura: What’s wrong hun?

Matthew: Shelly, you remember when Team Meteor blew up the Grand Stairway right?

Shelly: I do. Wh… Wait… You aren’t saying what I think you’re saying am I?

Matthew: When I went down there to save Victoria, I came across 1 of their leaders, Solaris… The 1 who did this to my cheek… Anyways, he told me stuff about Reborn and how they want to bring back this civilization or whatever. I’ll be honest. I don’t remember much of what he said. But in front of us was a door. It had 4 colors on it: red, blue, green and purple.

Shelly: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Amethyst…

Charlotte: That’s not good… Now that they found the lock, now they need the keys.

Anna: If that’s the case, then Heather’s Ruby Ring must be 1 of the keys, too!

Matthew: I didn’t even think of that.

Laura: We have to stop Team Meteor from getting the last 2!

Matthew: You’re right… Whatever it is they’re planning, it can’t be good.

Laura: So we need to make sure they don’t get Emerald and Sapphire right?

Noel: Correct.
Charlotte: Wait. So these keys, they’re embedded into jewelry right? Laura, don’t you have a Sapphire Bracelet that dad gave you as a present for your birthday some years ago?

Laura: Ohh my Arceus. I actually completely forgot about that…

Charlotte: So do you know where it is?

Laura: I, uhh… I lost it when mom and dad died…

Charlotte: Ohh…

Laura: But it could have survived the fire…

Matthew: Fire?

Anna: What fire? Ohh. THAT’s where you got those burn scars from?!

Charlotte: Anna, for the last time, I don’t have any scars. See? Perfectly clear.

Shelly: I have to agree with her… I don’t see anything…

Anna: Ohh right! Sorry! I keep forgetting! Hehe.

Noel: Sometimes Anna you say the most-

Anna: But since we’re on the subject, what fire are you talking about?

Laura: Umm… well… It was something that happened with Charlotte when we were younger.

Charlotte: Alright. I’m tired of this. I keep saying I don’t wanna talk about it but you all just keep bringing it up. So go on. Talk about it. I’m not gonna stay around and hear this shit. -walks out of the house-

Laura: Charlotte! Wait! I’m sorry! -chases after her-

 

The 4 of us stood there feeling awkward. We said nothing for a few seconds. But within that few seconds, everything that was said was going through my head. This temple underneath Reborn, these jewels that are a type of key to get into it, Team Meteor and Lin and this fire story. It was all rushing through my head. That is, until Anna spoke up.

 

Anna: Sooo how is everybody?

Matthew: That only made things awkward Anna.

Noel: That is true.

Anna: -gasps- I know! Noel, why don’t you let Matt challenge you to a Gym Battle right now since it got interrupted before!

Noel: Well… I suppose it is necessary…

Matthew: I did wanna go to sleep buuuut I think I can handle a Gym Battle before then… To be honest, with everything going on, I’m stressing out and this might help.

Anna: Ok! Let’s go outside.

 

The 4 of us went outside in the rain for the Gym Battle to take place. Anna stood against the wall while Shelly stood in the middle of me and Noel. The 2 of us each grabbed a PokeBall and then looked at each other.

 

Shelly: I-I guess I’ll be the referee for this match.

Noel: Hey. Before we start, I want to apologize the last time we were here.

Matthew: Huh? What you mean?

Noel: When I got jealous of my sister saying that you’d beat me. I shouldn’t have let that get to me.

Matthew: It’s ok. I think it would have hurt my feelings in some way if I was in your position.

Noel: Thank you Matthew. Well, Nomos and I are ready whenever you are.

Matthew: I hope you are. -grins-

Shelly: Ok, ok. This will be a 6 on 6… Umm… Hey Noel. You do Singles right?

Noel: That’s correct.

Shelly: Ok. This will be a 6 on 6 Singles Battle. Umm… Either trainer can make substitutions and umm…

Anna: The battle will end when all 6 of 1 trainer’s Pokemon have been knocked out! Let’s go go go go go!

Noel: I wonder Nomos. Do you think that he can win?

Shelly: B-Begin!

 

 

The battle was quite tough but in the end, I came out victorious. Each of us called back our final Pokemon back to their PokeBalls. Noel dropped his head a bit and closed his eyes. I thought maybe I had hurt his feelings somehow defeating him in battle but then I saw a smirk on his face.

 

Anna: Oh my god! Great job Matthew!

Matthew: Haha. Thanks.

Noel: That was quite a fine match Matt. In accordance with the official Reborn League policy, I present to you the Standard Badge.

 

I walked over to him and took the badge from him.

 

I looked at it with happiness despite getting more wet from the rain. I now had 7 badges. If this were in any other region, like Kanto or Johto, I’d only need 1 more to take on the Elite 4 but here, I wasn’t even half way done with the Gym challenge. But I still felt excited that I had obtained another Gym Badge. Just then, Laura came walking back. She looked sad.

 

Laura: Ohh hey guys… Did I miss something?

Matthew: I just won my 7th badge.

Laura: Ohh. Congrats dear.

Shelly: Ummm… Where’s Charlotte? Is she ok?

Laura: Ohh yea. She’s fine but I think it’d be best if we gave her some space right now.

Anna: What happened Laura?

Laura: Well Charlotte’s not here so… It was a long time ago. Charlotte was young at the time. Back then, we all lived together.

Noel: I take it you also mean your parents alive.

Laura: Yes. They were. At nighttime, she would sneak out here in the garden and stare out to the lake. Nothing harmful about that. It was safe here. But… you can see how a fire could easily start around here. She was playing with her Vulpix 1 night and…

Matthew: She started the fire?

Charlotte: It’s not like she meant to! Saphira woke me up and rushed me out of the house just in the nick of time. Our parents on the other hand…

Matthew: It’s ok hun. You don’t have to finish that sentence.

Laura: -begins to tear up- Thanks hun. But yea. Ever since then, it’s be just Saphira looking out for us… ESPECIALLY after the Doctor took us in. She has kept us safe for years. I just… I hope Charlotte is ok. I just don’t know what I’d do if she… if she were… -begins to cry-

Matthew: Babe, it’s ok. It’s fine.

 

Despite winning the Gym Badge, seeing my girlfriend made my stress come back. I hated seeing her tear up like that.

 

Laura: Ohh. I’m sorry. I’m an adult. I shouldn’t be crying. I need to be more like… more like Saphira.

Anna: -walks up to Laura- No no! It’s ok to cry! Cry all you need to!

 

Laura: But-

Anna: You’re just getting the sadness out of your body. Come on. We should all go back inside.

 

Seeing her cry was making me even more stressful. I walked up to Laura, and gave her a big hug.

 

Laura: Thanks babe. I really needed that.

Matthew: No problem hun. Hey guys. Me and her are gonna go upstairs. See you all in the morning. Night.

Laura: Night guys.

Shelly: Umm… Ok then. Night.

Anna: Night Laura and Matthew!

Noel: Night.

 

Laura and I then walked back inside the house, up the stairs and into my room. I turned her around again and hugged her. I could tell she really needed it.

 

Matthew: Is everything alright? Besides the whole Charlotte thing.

Laura: Yea. Just... I'm also worried about Saphira. I hope she's ok.

Matthew: Babe, I'm sure she is. From what I've seen so far, she's a pretty strong chick and can get through anything. Even that.

Laura: Yea... Yea you're right. Thanks babe. I needed that.

 

We then got onto the bed and just looked at each other for a few minutes.

 

No words were spoken but that moment alone together felt wonderful. I felt closer to her than I ever felt since I 1st ran into her.

 

Laura: Wow. This is so peaceful and relaxing... I feel so much closer to you right now than I ever felt.

Matthew: You too?

Laura: What do you mean?

Matthew: I feel closer to you as well with my feelings for you.

Laura: Aww babe... I love you.

Matthew: I love you too.

 

We kissed each other and then peacefully went to sleep in each others arms.

Matthew: Well, I ain’t complaining here. This is the best spot you’ve chosen since this whole thing started.

Matthew: I agree. Hopefully, we won’t run into Lin.

Matthew: Well… I don’t know about that but I trust on how you feel. And from the sounds of it, it sounds worse than I thought. Which is just greeeeat.

Wehttam: Well, if it makes you feel any better, I don’t think you’ll be seeing her for a long time. So that should calm you down some.

Matthew: It does. But still… Even if I am afraid of her, she must be stopped.

Wehttam: You need to find those Emerald and Sapphire jewels quickly before Team Meteor do.

Matthew: Ohh trust me. I plan on doing that. I just wish I knew where they were.

Matthew: I’m just thinking about Saphira. I have no clue if she made it or not. She didn’t come back to the house and that’s not a good sign to me.

Matthew: Best sleep I’ve ever had.

Laura: Me too. How did the rest of you sleep.

Noel: Pretty good. Hey Laura? Do you mind if I talk to Matthew alone for a minute?

Laura: Yea. Sure. See you in a bit babe.

Matthew: Alright. Love ya.

Laura: Love ya too sweetie. -walks downstairs-

Matthew: So what did you need to talk about Noel?

Noel: It’s about Saphira. Look… I know everyone are trying to reassure each other. I want her to be fine and alright as well.

Matthew: Buuuut?

Noel: But I just don’t see the point in denying the obvious.

Matthew: And the obvious is what exactly?

Noel: There’s a high chance that Saphira didn’t make it Matt.

Matthew: -sigh- Look, I get it. You’re being realistic and I can appreciate that but you don’t have to be such a downer about it. Try to keep your hopes high.

Noel: It’s not just that. We can’t just sit around here and wait for her to possibly return.

Matthew: Well… you do have a point there. We need to figure out our next move.

Noel: Anna won’t let me leave for sure. You know her Matt. You’re… It’s like she has an older brother with you around.

Matthew: Ohh wow… I don’t know what to say to that…

Noel: Listen, I know what some of us should do at least.

Matthew: Alright. I’m listening.

Noel: Me, Anna and Shelly will wait here. Obviously, Charlotte will make her way back from wherever she went.

Matthew: Wait. Charlotte isn’t back yet?

Noel: Nope. But I’m positive she’s fine. She just needs alone time.

Matthew: Well alright. I’m assuming that me and Laura should go somewhere.

Noel: Yes. Go look for more Gym Leaders and also go search for Saphira. You’ll be able to progress in your Gym Challenge and maybe even find Laura’s sister. I know she musty be worried about her still.

Matthew: Yea. She is. I gotta try to keep her spirits high that she’s alright.

Noel: If I had to guess, I would say explore more of Tanzan Mountain. That seems to be where Saphira fell. Hopefully that lady, Lin right, won’t be close behind her.

Matthew: Me either. I do NOT want to see her again for a long time.

 

Just then, a huge explosion or booming sound could be heard. The whole house shook. Noel and I fell to the ground and waited for the movement to stop. When it did, we both stood up in shock of what just happened. We could hear a lot of commotion downstairs from everyone else.

 

Laura: What was that?!

Anna: Did the top of Tanzan Mountain just explode?

Shelly: Laura, wasn’t that where Team Meteor’s base was?

Laura: It… It was.

Matthew: Holy fuck…

Noel: Perhaps you should hurry up there.

Matthew: Yea… We’ll go. Take care Noel. I’ll see you all sometime again.

 

I ran downstairs and looked towards the couch where the rest of the group were around. They all seemed confused and shocked and worried. I put on a brave face just so they wouldn’t be more scared. I walked up to Laura who was sitting on the couch.

 

Matthew: Hey babe and everyone else. You all ok?

Laura: I’m fine. I’m just… shocked… That’s all.

Anna: I’m fine! I just wasn’t expecting that!

Shelly: I-I’ll be fine…

Matthew: Alright. Good. So here’s what we’re gonna do. Anna, Shelly and Noel. You 3 will stay here and wait for Charlotte and possibly Saphira.

Shelly: Ok…

Anna: We can do that! But what are you and Laura gonna do?

Matthew: We’re gonna go look for Saphira in Tanzan Mountain and if we don’t find her, then we’ll continue on with my Gym challenge. We need to keep continuing and I think this is the best way to do it.

Laura: Hmm… I guess you’re right. I wish I could say good bye to my sisters but…

Matthew: It’s ok hun. They’ll be fine. I’m sure of it.

Laura: Alright. Well… time to go then I guess.

 

Laura got up off the couch and the both us walked towards the door. Before going out, we waved good bye to our friends and then exited the mansion. We walked through the garden and into Tanzan Mountain. We weren’t sure which way to go though because all the other ways we’ve already been through. But then we both remembered the other way that was blocked off by a steel gate. Maybe there was a hidden switch for that to be moved as well. So we walked towards there. But when we got there, we were shocked with what we saw.

 

Matthew: Whoa… Someone shredded that gate.

Laura: Yea. It’s scary. But… Wait!

Matthew: What is it?

Laura: Doesn’t this seem kind of familiar to you? Remember back at the base of Team Meteor?

Matthew: Umm… Hmm… Ohh yea! That cell that was supposed to contain Saphira!

Laura: Exactly! She might be here! Come on! Let’s hurry!

 

Laura grabbed my hand and rushed me up into the path. We went through another entrance of the cave and were in another part of the cave. As we continued to walk forward, we heard another loud explosion. I covered Laura in case any rocks or debris were to fall on here. When everything settled, I looked up and saw Saphira standing there. I looked on it shock.

 

Matthew: You… You’re-

Laura: Matt? What’s wrong?

Saphira: Well met Matthew. And Laura as well.

 

Laura’s eyes sprung wide open. She slowly got up and looked towards her sister.

 

She was there. She survived the fall. Laura’s eyes filled up with tears. She ran over to here sister and hugged her tightly. Saphira returned the hug.

 

Saphira: Hey. I’m alright.

Laura: I-I’m so glad you’re o-ok Saphira…

 Saphira: I know. -looks up at me- I’m glad to see you too Matthew.

Matthew: Likewise. I’m just glad you’re ok.

Saphira: Am I to assume you thought I perished?

Matthew: Well… I was positive that you were alive but I didn’t wanna keep my hopes up all the way you know?

Saphira: Understandable. However, I am not so weak so next time, don’t think like that.

Matthew: Haha. You got it Saphira.

Laura: -stands back and looks at Saphira- Are you ok though?

Saphira: I’m fine. Although I’ll admit. That woman caught me off guard.

Matthew: She really caught me off guard too.

Saphira: What do you mean?

Matthew: She came in when I was trying to fight off Team Meteor when you took Laura home. I hated it because… I had to pretend I was working with Team Meteor.

Saphira: What?!

Matthew: Wait! Wait! You don’t get it! That Lin girl… I could tell she was just really powerful. I wouldn’t be able to stop her. Besides, at that point, half of my team was out of energy. I wouldn’t be able to try at my full potential. Plus, even that Sirius dude was intimidated by her.

Saphira: Fine. But next time, stand your ground and fight to your last breath.

Matthew: Yea. Sure. I will.

Saphira: Still… She seemed to know about my family. And I don’t even recognize her. Doesn’t matter though.

Laura: What do you mean?

Saphira: I assume you all heard the big explosion before right? I snuck back in and terminated their base.

Matthew: Well, at least they won’t be near you guys.

Saphira: And that’s not all. I’ve got a present for you 2.

Laura: What’s that?

 

Saphira dug into her pocket and pulled out 2 jewelry items. Both me and Laura looked at them in shock. In her hand was the Ruby Ring and Amethyst Pendant. Saphira handed them over to Laura.

 

Laura: These… These are-

Saphira: It seems for whatever reason that Team Meteor are desperate to seize these objects.

Matthew: You have no idea how bad they want them.

Saphira: I take it you all know something I don’t.

Laura: The others are back at the mansion. Shelly should be able to fill you in.

Saphira: Good. I take it you 2 are gonna continue on ahead?

Matthew: Yea. Gonna try to collect more Gym Badges and such. Prob run into Team Meteor again.

Saphira: Not a bad idea to be honest. They’ll probably be searching for us so we won’t be staying there for long.

Laura: That’s not a bad idea. You should also give Anna back her pendant when you get back too.

Saphira: No. You 2 will keep them.

Matthew: Umm… Why?

Saphira: If she were to keep that, that would paint a big target on her back.

Matthew: Yea… That’s true.

Saphira: Besides, they’re not gonna expect you 2 to have these. They’re probably even gonna search our house for these. So you 2 need to take these and keep them away from Team Meteor.

Laura: Alright. Sounds good. But where are you all gonna go?

Saphira: Hmm. I know. In the Carnelia Region, there are 2 cities called Labradorra and Calcenon and the gyms in those cities belong to Charlotte and I. I’ll take the group up there while the 2 of you get there you’re own way. Sound good?

Laura: Sounds like a plan to me.

Matthew: Yea. At least I know now where 2 more of the Gyms are.

Saphira: Alright. Good. I’m going to return back to the mansion now. We’ll meet again. Laura, be good and please protect her Matt.

Laura: I will sis.

Matthew: You got it Saphira. Catch you later.

 

Saphira then walked passed me and went back to the others in the mansion. Laura walked back and handed me the 2 jewelry.

 

I put them into my pocket and we resumed our adventure. It didn’t take long to find the exit if the mountain and we were finally back outside. It was gorgeous though. The sun was shining through the trees. But I had no idea where we were.

 

Matthew: Wow… This place looks awesome but… Where are we?

Laura: I think we’re… in Aventurine Woods.

Matthew: Sounds like a nice place.

Laura: It is. I haven’t been here much though. We’re really close to Route 1 though and if I remember correctly, that’s where the Vanhanen Castle is.

Matthew: Anything useful there?

Laura: Well, there’s a Gym Leader there but-

Matthew: Let’s go!

Laura: Wait wait. Before we go, I just need to warn you that the Gym Leader there is… unique.

Matthew: Haha. Really? Unique? You got a crazy girl that likes to blow things up and an… entity of some sorts as a Gym Leader. I think I’ll be able to handle this.

Laura: Well, if you say so. Let’s go hun.

 

We held each other’s hands and started our walk through the woods. It looked stunning. I wasn’t 1 to see the beauty of the outdoors but I couldn’t deny the beauty of this place. We reached a separation in the trees and went through it. Just as we were about to start our walk through Route 1 to get to this Vanhanen Castle, a familiar but unwelcomed face came into sight.

 

Matthew: Ohh god damnit.

Laura: What is it Matt?

Fern: Ha! Thoguth I heard a bug or something crawling over here.

Matthew: What a joy. It’s you Fern.

Fern: What? No “Hi. How you doing Fern?” Psh. Whatever. So why you 2 dweebs here.

Matthew: Why you little-

Laura: Matt Matt! It’s ok. Don’t let this piece of grass get to you.

Fern: Was that supposed to be an insult?

Laura: If you must know, we’re going to the Vanhanen Castle to-

Fern: So you’re going for the badge ehh? Well unlike you, I already have the badge.

Matthew: Well I already have 7 badges.

Fern: Haha! Only 7? Wow. You’re falling behind already. I have 8 right now. And you even started before me.

Matthew: Fuck you. I don’t care how many badges you have.

Fern: Is that so?

Matthew: Ohh. It is. But you know what does matter?

Fern: What’s that loser?

Matthew: Between our battles, it’s 4 for me and 0 for you. Now that’s gotta be killing you. Haha.

Fern: Grrr! Ohh yea?! Well let’s make it 4 to 1 right now!

 

 

 

Matthew: And that makes it 5 to 0.

Fern: Ohh whatever. Not like it matters.

Matthew: What a sore loser.

Fern: No. What I am is the top dog.

Matthew: Do… Do you seriously still call yourself that?

Fern: I’m off. I’d go to Agate City but the dumb ass guards there are asleep for some reason.

Laura: Wait. They’re asleep? Why didn’t you try to wake them up?

Fern: Don’t you think I already tried that you ding bat?

Matthew: Dude, seriously. Back off.

Fern: Haha. Alright. Whatever. I’m out of here. I’m gonna try to track down the Normal Type Gym Leader. Apparently he ran away from the crazy place up in Lapis.

Matthew: -smirks- Ohh. You must mean Noel.

Fern: Hey look. You’re useful for once. Where is he?

Matthew: Well… I could tell you but he’ll prob be long time by the time you get there anyways. I guess I will be a badge higher than you eventually huh?

Fern: Gah! Whatever! Later, losers! -leaves the area-

Laura: That’s only the 2nd time I’ve seen him and I’m already seriously annoyed with him.

Matthew: Heh. Yea. Well, I’ve met him multiple times and I hate it. I’m just glad I could throw my victories over him in his face. So, now that that mess is out of the way, where do we go now?

Laura: Well you go up and then you keep going right as far as you can. To what Fern said about Agate City, it’s actually directly north from the Vanhanen Castle. Should be a sign kind of in the middle of the 2.

Matthew: Sweet. Let’s get a move on then.

 

The 2 of us set off to get to the Vanhanen Castle. It was a pleasant walk. Sometimes though, we needed the help of some Tauros to get over some ledges. Luckily for us, most of them seemed happy to help us. Plus, it was fun riding on top of them. It was enjoyable. And I could feel myself even getting closer to Laura. We reached the sign that Luara was talking about and we got off of them and waved good bye as they scurried away. The both of us looked at the sign.

 

She was right. Up north was Agate City and south was Vanhanen Castle. Before going south though, we decided to head north to just to check on the so called sleeping guards. We made it to the checkpoint and headed inside. We were shocked to see that Fern was right. The 2 guards were fast asleep.

 

The 2 of us tried to wake them up but to no avail. With no idea what else to do, we decided it was best to just head to the castle. We exited the checkpoint and headed down south. We walked through an entrance of thick bush walls and on the other side was a maze of sorts. I stood there looking stunned.

 

Matthew: What… What is this?

Laura: This is the labyrinth.

Matthew: This dude has a labyrinth?!

Laura: Yea. I know. A pain in the ass. I’ve only been here a couple of times.

Matthew: You know how to get through this then?

Laura: Maybe? I’m not totally sure.

Matthew: Well, let’s get through this as fast as possible. I wanna get there fast.

 

We start to try to get through the maze. We were unlucky as we kept meeting dead ends. But at last, we found the correct ways to go. We walked up to a big wooden door. I looked at the magnificent building. I was in awe.

 

Matthew: And this Gym Leader lives here?

Laura: Yep. Pretty nice isn’t it?

Matthew: It’s awesome… Come on! Let’s go in!

 

We both entered the door and there standing was a girl with blonde hair and wearing what looked to be a maid’s outfit. I was a taken aback by that. I wasn’t expecting that.

 

???: Ahh. Hello there challenger and welcome. You too Laura. Please follow me. -leaves the room-

Matthew: He really has a maid?

Laura: That’s…

Matthew: What? What is it?

Laura: That’s… Luna.

 

My eyes widened and my jaw felt like it was about to hit the floor.

 

Laura: Hun? Hun, what is it?

Matthew: I heard that name before.

Laura: Where?

Matthew: It was back when I was getting the medicine for Anna. The Gym Leader’s kid there, I think his name was Bennett, was talking about a girl named Luna. I just… I didn’t expect to see her. At all.

Laura: Then you must also know that she’s also a Gym Leader.

Matthew: Ohh yea! I totally forgot about that!

Laura: Well look. She told us to meet her in the next room. We shouldn’t keep her waiting.

 

We walked up into the room Luna walked into. It was pretty impressive looking. Lots of space. We saw Luna and walked up to her.

 

Luna: My master will be joining us shortly. Please, make yourself comfortable if-

 

Just then, a guy and a Gardevoir came out of the door from another room.

 

The guy was wearing a suit somewhat but he had on a really funky looking hat. That didn’t bother me though. What shocked me however is that this Gardevoir was able to talk to me.

 

Gardevoir: Ohh! And who are you? A new challenger! That’s who!

Matthew: Uhh… You can talk?

Gardevoir: Why of course my darling. Miss Gossip Gardevoir at your service.

Matthew: I’m sorry. Your what Gardevoir?

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohohohoho.~ Surely you jest.~

Matthew: I don’t.

Gossip Gardevoir: What?! Have you not been watching tv?!

Matthew: I’ve had a lot going on since I came here.

Gossip Gardevoir: Ahh. I see.

???: Yes. Gardevoir here is quite unique. She can psychically project here thoughts in English. Ahh. But where are my manners. I am Radomus, the lord of this castle.

Matthew: Did… Did he really say-

Laura: I told you. He’s unique.

Radomus: It is a pleasure to meet you, challenger. And as you may have already guessed, this here is my Gardevoir. And this right here is my daughter, Luna.

Matthew & Laura: Wait. What?!

Luna: As the castle’s maid, I welcome you. If there is anything I can do to make your stay here more welcome, please just tell me and I will make sure you are satisfied.

Radomus: Boy. You are Matthew, am I correct?

Matthew: Wait. Whoa whoa. How the hell do you know that? We just met!

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohohoho.~ Do not be surprised. Master and I basically know who everyone is.

Matthew: How?

Gossip Gardevoir: That would be thanks to me. It IS my business to know things.

Matthew: But that still doesn’t explain how-

Gossip Gardevoir: Let’s see. I know about your repeated raids on the Meteors. I know about your involvement with the other leaders.~

Matthew: That… How-

Gossip Gardevoir: Even your little escapade from the orphanage.~ But do not worry Matthew! Your secrets are safe with me.~

Matthew: Well… I guess it’s ok… Still weird though.

Radomus: So Matthew, I assume you’re here for your next Gym Battle right?

Laura: Mhm. That’s why we’re here.

Radomus: Ahh. I forgot. A pleasure to meet you as well Laura.

Gossip Gardevoir: Ahh yes. You 2 have recently become lovebirds haven’t yous?~

Laura: Haha. Well… Yes.

Radomus: Ahh yes. Gardevoir and Luna. Would please excuse us for a moment?

Luna: As you wish. -leaves the room-

Gossip Gardevoir: Ooo, enjoying a private moment already.~ How sensuous!

Radomus: Gardevoir.

Gossip Gardevoir: Haha. Going.~ -leaves the room-

Radomus: Gardevoir… She’s lively but mostly harmless. Feel free to pay her no mind but that is not the reason I dismissed them.

Laura: Then what’s the reason?

Radomus: Matthew, I understand you met with Luna’s father?

Matthew: Yea. I have. Really weird guy.

Laura: When?

Matthew: Again, when I was going to get the medication and the Gym Badge from that Serra girl. He came up and convinced her son that he could get a spot in the Elite 4.

Radomus: Yes. El is indeed very strange.

Laura: El? Hmm. I can’t remember him for the life of me.

Radomus: Well allow me to make 1 thing perfectly clear. Although I call Luna my daughter, I am most certainly not her father. 1 day, she appeared and just claimed me to be her father. I protested and protested but she moved herself right in anyways. But, since my own family is long gone and it’s a bit empty here, I let it happen. So… who was I to say no to her?

Matthew: Soo… you allow her to stay her because there’s no 1 else here to be with?

Radomus: If you choose it to see it that way, then yes. It seems though that she is just playing a part in some greater fantasy.

Matthew: You mean being a maid for you? You actually made her a maid. Isn’t that a bit twisted?

Radomus: Matthew, I know it looks strange but I assure you, she is allowed to do whatever she wants. She chose to be a maid and also a princess at once. She honestly fits each roll quite nicely.

Matthew: Well… I don’t know. Seems kind of fishy to me.

Radomus: If that’s how you feel. But she is a strange girl. Has been no small source of amusement for Gardevoir and myself. Her and Gardevoir grew to be fast friends. So it’s not as if I can just dismiss her now.

Matthew: This whole living situation seems so odd to me. But… I guess it’s alright. But what did you want to talk to us about?

Radomus: Well you will be the only 1 to answer this Matthew. I allowed Laura to be here to be nice. What is your impression of El?

Matthew: He sends a lot of alarms and not any of them good. Have you ever seen him?

Radomus: A couple of times. He has tried to reclaim her many times but of course, I have refused him. I believe that there have been a hint of abuse in her past or else she would not have fled her birth father.

Laura: And because of that, you feel you have to protect her?

Radomus: You’d be correct. That is the long and the short of the affair.

Luna: Sorry for the interruption master but there is another visitor here.

Radomus: Please, show them in. So were you expecting anyone Matthew? Laura?

Matthew: No? Why would I be-

 

When the individual came in, both me and Laura stared in awe but also happiness. It was someone we hadn’t seen for a while.

 

Matthew: No way…

Laura: Is it really you?

Cain: Matthew! Laura! Hey guuuys hey!

Matthew: Dude… I’m so glad to see you.

Laura: Me too.

Cain: I’ve missed the both of you too. What’s happened with y’all though? You seem drained.

Matthew: Well we got Anna better, I now have 2 more badges under my belt, I’ve met their older sister Saphira, we have taken down yet another 1 of Team Meteor’s bases, I met their true leader apparently, took on a giant Steelix, learned that 4 certain pieces of jewelry are keys for a temple or something underneath Reborn and me and Laura now love each other.

Cain: Wow… You just threw everything at me right now didn’t you?

Laura: Haha. He sure did.

Cain: Well either way, I’m glad to see you 2 doing alright. How is everyone else?

Matthew: They’re doing good. They’re going somewhere with Saphira to stay safe.

Cain: Well that’s good.

Radomus: I don’t mean to interrupt this happy reunion but hello there. I suppose that you too have come to challenge me to a gym battle?

Cain: Ohh right. Yes I have. It appears I have some catching up to do. Totally got side-tracked with the whole business deal thing.

Laura: Ohh yea! What happened with her?

Cain: Well I managed to find her. Not that she was happy about that by the way. Anyways, I caught up to her in Ametrine City and found out that some dude adopted her.

Laura: That’s nice. Did you find out his name?

Cain: Yea. His name is Blake I believe.

 

My eyes shot open as I heard that name utter out of Cain’s mouth. I remember that Cal fellow talking about his brother and his name was Blake and everything I heard about him was not good at all. I must have been visibly showing concern because when I snapped back to reality, Cain and Laura were looking at me worryingly.

 

Laura: Hun? Are you ok?

Cain: Yea. You look like you were pondering something.

 

I wanted to tell them but I didn’t want the 2 of them to get really worried about Heather. So I decided to not tell them. I looked over at Radomus and secretly made the notion to keep this quiet. I had a feeling that he knew or something and I didn’t want him blabbing about it.

 

Matthew: Y-Yea… I’m ok. Just you know… Worried about stuff… I’m alright though.

Radomus: Well, I’m glad that we have gotten that out of the way. Let us get back to the problem at hand though.

Cain: Problem? What problem?

Radomus: Well, we have 2 challengers and 1 gym.

Cain: Pfft. You call that a problem? The solution is easy. Both me and Matthew will battle you in a Doubles Battle and we’ll both win the Gym Badge.

Radomus: Ahh. But alas, I’m afraid that wouldn’t do at all. I wonder. Could you really play any real strategy with 2 minds on 1 side of the board? For when the king does not know what the queen is doing, the tragedy that is the kingdom falls into disarray and soon… Soon checkmate.

Matthew: …Was this dude seriously just talking about chess right now or am I starting to lose it?

Luna: Well you see, master here has amassed his fortune by winning Chess tournaments all across the globe. He is quite admirable, don’t you think?

Matthew: Wait. Wait. Are you saying that he owns all of this by winning Chess tournaments?!

Luna: That is correct.

Matthew: Wow… I didn’t know things like that paid out so much.

Cain: Well anywaaaaays, I was just kidding. I know what’s gonna happen. Me and Matt will battle to see who takes you on 1st.

Radomus: Settle this however you’d wish.

Matthew: Well Cain, I suppose this is another rematch. I’m gonna pound you.~ And yes. I said that intentionally.

Cain: Haha. A romp with Matthew is always good fun.~ Let’s do it baby!

 

 

 

Cain: Ok ok.~ You win as usual.

Matthew: Haha. Hey. You put up a good fight.

Laura: I love watching you 2 battle.

Cain: Go soften him up for me Matty.

Radomus: What’s this? Do you not believe uou can best me by yourself?

Cain: Oh. My. God. It’s just a jooooooke. Stop taking everything I say so seriously.

Radomus: Maybe it is you who is taking me too seriously.

Luna: Ummm, excuse me master? Do you have a minute?

Radomus: What is it dear?

Luna: Have you seen Gardevoir anywhere? I can’t seem to find her.

Radomus: Wasn’t she with you?

Luna: Last time I saw her was in the foyer when Cain arrived here. -goes to the foyer-

Radomus: Well, it seems in this game that I am playing Black. Perfect.

Cain: Huh?

Radomus: Ohh it’s nothing.

 

Luna came back into the room but the worry I saw on her face seconds ago had intensified much more. In her hand was a piece of paper. Everyone else could see the worry in her face as well.

 

Laura: Luna? What’s wrong?

Luna: I am sorry master but I read this message that was supposed to be for you and well… here.

Radomus: Let’s see. Who could this be from?

Luna: The person who delivered this was wearing a light robe. I did not recognize him though…

Radomus: Is that so? Hmm. “begins reading the letter- “To 1 Radomus Vanhanen,” Wait. To 1? Is there more than 1 with that name? If so, I’d like to meet this fellow.

Cain: Just keep reading!

Radomus: Right. Right. “To 1 Radomus Vanhanen, I have csptured your precious ‘Gossip Gardevoir.’ If you wish to ever see her again, you will return my daughter to me at once. Signed, El” Well how rude. No “Sincerely”? For god’s sake, not even a “With love”?

Matthew: -looking at everyone and pointing to Radomus- Is this guy for real.

Luna: That person is NOT my father. You are. Master, I beg of you, please do not send me away with him. I… I…

Cain: Wait. Was she really just captured? She was RIGHT there when we came in.

Radomus: I deduce that they were waiting for a diversion. I assume your battle with each other was the perfect chance for them to strike and to carry out their plan.

Cain: Well come on! We have to get her back!

Luna: Yes! Miss Gardevoir is my dear friend. I don’t know what I would do if I had lost her. Master, you will find her right?

Radomus: Hmm…

Cain: You don’t have to worry Luna. We’ll take care of it.~ Right Matthew?

Matthew: Yea. I wanna have this battle and there’s no way that’s gonna happen when 1 of the Gym Leader’s Pokemon is missing.

Luna: But how in the world are you gonna do that? None of us have any idea where they went. What… What do we do?

Radomus: Nothing.

Matthew, Laura & Cain: What?!

Luna: Master?

Radomus: There is no need for concern. We do nothing.

Matthew: What do you mean?!

Cain: Yea. That’s your Pokemon. Don’t you care about it?

Radomus: Of course I do. What a silly question to ask. But that is why I needn’t do anything.

Matthew: Dude, I seriously don’t get you. Whatever. I’ll go search for her.

Cain: Yea! Me too! This… gold-head isn’t making any sense! -leaves the room-

Luna: I wish to assist this problem as well!

Radomus: Luna… You cannot go. You will put yourself in danger. He plans to capture you. The most precious piece of the game. Instead, I shall act in your stead. Please stand back Matt and Laura?

Matthew: Ok?

Laura: Ohh. Uhh, sure I guess.

 

We stood back. Radomus began to spin himself around really really fast but I could see him changing or at least his clothes. When he stopped, he was now in what appeared to be a detective outfit. I was so confused.

 

Matthew: What… Ok. Can someone tell me how exactly the fuck he did that?

Laura: I have no clue but wow. I wish I could change that fast.

Radomus: Detective Radomus is on the case. Luna, do stay here. I will not let you fall into this trap. -leaves the room-

Luna: As you say master. And thank you.

Laura: Alright Matt. You ready?

Matthew: Wait. Hold on.

Laura: What is it?

Matthew: I want you to stay here and keep an eye on Luna?

Laura: What? Why? She’s not a kid. She’s a Gym Leader. She can take care of herself.

Matthew: But what if there’s more than 1 person in on this? What if the second me, Cain, you and Radomus leave, they swarm in and attack her. I have no doubt that she’s strong but she wouldn’t be able to handle multiple bad guys at once. Besides, you can see how scared she feels about her dad being here right?

Laura: Yea… Yea. You’re right. Ok. I’ll stay here and look after Luna then.

Matthew: Thanks. We’ll be back as soon as possible.

 

I leaned in and kissed Laura, hugged her and then exited the room. I felt better knowing that Laura would be here to help out Luna if need be. But I felt a headache was about to start since I was about to travel with Radomus. And something told me Cain felt the same way.

Laura (/10 NO CHANGE!) - She seems to be more relaxed now that she knows her sister is ok. I'm happy about that too. And I'm still amazed that we love each other. Never thought that would happen. At least, not this quickly. I'm glad she knows her way around this area though or else I'd be super lost.

 

Fern (0/10 NO CHANGE!) - Great. Had to see this asshole again. Ohh well. At least I thrashed him in another battle as usual. Although, I suppose he WAS helpful in giving us the information about the guards being asleep. I wonder what caused that to happen. But yea. Hopefully, I never see him again.

 

Cain (10/10 NO CHANGE!) - He's back! I feel like it's been so long since we last saw him. And as always, right back into wanting to help people. Or in this case, Pokemon.

 

Gossip Gardevoir +5 (5/10) - I mean she seems nice. Maybe a bit too friendly... and weird. But I really don't like the fact that she's basically been spying on me throughout my adventures since I got here.

 

Luna +5 (5/10) - So I finally get to meet Luna. It was certainly weird considering she looked a lot like a maid but she seems ok. I need to be around her more to get a better feel for her. Although, she obviously does not like this El dude.

 

Radomus +3 (3/10) - This dude is a weirdo. And that's saying something since I consider myself a big weirdo. I don't know if I trust him with Luna but she seems happy... But he doesn't even seem to care about his Pokemon. Then again, he seems to know a lot as well so maybe he knows something that we don't. Hmm... And what the hell was with that weird outfit change?

I entered the room where Radomus and Cain were and of course, Cain was staring at Radomus in a confused way.

 

Cain: Did you really swap your silly hat for another?

Radomus: Maybe to you it is but to be honest, there’s really nothing silly about it. I just simply choose the right hat for the job. I ask you young man. Will we not be sleuthing out Gardevoir?
Cain: Speaking of that, quite the change of heart you’ve had.

Matthew: Yea. You didn’t even seem like you wanted to go.

Radomus: Well please do not misunderstand me.

Matthew: What misunderstand is that?

Radomus: Simple. There is no need to do something as rash as this.

Cain: But then why are you-

Radomus: But Luna demanded it. So I will go on this little “rescue mission.”

Cain: -sigh- I don’t get it. I thought Gardevoir were only supposed to be drawn to the most loyal trainers.

Matthew: Wait. Is that true?

Cain: Well at least here in Reborn. I imagine it’s way easier in the other regions.

Matthew: Makes sense. But yea. I gotta agree with Cain. You don’t seem to care at all that she’s gone.

Radomus: Matthew, Cain… Should Black be concerned when the White King places himself in check?

Matthew: Ohh for the love of…

Cain: What is he talking about Matt?

Matthew: It’s chess talk. I have NO idea what he’s talking about.

Cain: Ugh. Let’s just go find her already!

Radomus: As you wish. Now I assume that the 2 of you know about Agate City being closed for the time being correct?

Matthew: Well with the guards sleeping, I have a feeling that’s the case.

Radomus: Indeed. Which means there’s not a lot of places to which he could have fled. I expect that he will attempt to head towards Reborn City.

Matthew: Yea. More places to hide there.

Radomus: But which route will he take? I will follow your lead animous one.

Matthew: Uhh… Right.

Cain: Let’s do this!

 

The 3 of us walked out of the door and through the labyrinth to get to Route 1. We walked the opposite way me and Laura came from and eventually, I started to see new parts of Route 1. Soon, we came upon a building. I paused in front of it pondering what it could be.

 

Radomus: Are you curious as to what this building is?

Matthew: Yea. Obviously it’s not where El is but-

Cain: This is where people are trying to repopulate this area with Pokemon.

Radomus: Yes. If you saw those Bouffalant and Tauros, they were brought here to repopulate.

Matthew: That’s interesting I guess.

Cain: Yea. I bet repopulating feels greeeeaaaat.~

Matthew: Uhh-

Radomus: Let us continue. We can no longer go east. It is time to go south.

 

We all started heading down south. Even though it was far away, I could see a really big door. Cain could see the puzzled look on my face.

 

Cain: That door is actually on the other side of the Grand Gate.

Matthew: Soo… It’s also technically another Grand Gate?

Cain: Basically. Except this 1 is opened.

Matthew: Alright. When we get there, you 2 stay out here and I’ll go inside and if I see anything, I’ll give you 2 a shout for you both to come in. Got it?

Cain: Mhm.~

Radomus: Right.

 

I quietly walked in but saw no one in front of me until I saw someone running to the side of the place.

 

Matthew: Hey! Stop!

 

But he didn’t. He continued running. I ran after him but when I got into the room, he wasn’t there anymore. There was a huge cog wheel in the way but that was about it. I could hear running footsteps coming from behind me.

 

Radomus: It would seem our culprit has been cornered.

Matthew: What are you talking about? No one besides us is in here right now.

Radomus: He only had 1 direction to go. Down. Keep pushing forward. I believe there is enough space beyond that gear there.

Matthew: Yeeeaaaa… I’m gonna play it smart and do this. -climbs on top of the gear and walks over it- I’m too big to squeeze through that.

Cain: -gets through the gap- Easy.~

Radomus: Examining this a bit more, this may be more challenging for an adult.

Matthew: Then just do what I did and climb over it.

Radomus: No no. I’ll be fine.

 

Radomus approached the gear and tried getting in between the wall and the gear. He squeezed in at 1st and started moving towards us but near the middle he stopped. Cain and I both looked at each other with annoyed faces.

 

Radomus: Umm…

Matthew: No way dude.

Cain: Are you really stuck Radomus?

Radomus: It uhh… would appear so.

Matthew: Great.

Cain: Wait. Why doesn’t this thing turn anyways?

Radomus: It froze. Ergo, so did the Grand Gates. More than a decade ago in fact… Right before Reborn City’s collapse.

Matthew: So basically, these gears are just connected to the doors right?

Radomus: Yes. A lot of people have tried to make them operational again but no luck.

Matthew: That sucks…

Cain: Well still. Even if it’s tight, just force your way in.~

Matthew: -laughs- Ohh Cain.

Radomus: -gives Cain a curious look-

Cain: What? I mean, I don’t usually say that to boys but you know… This is different!

Radomus: I’m just going to pretend I didn’t get that remark.

Matthew: Trust me. Spend enough time with him and you’ll grow accustomed to you.

Radomus: Well then I won’t be hanging around him a lot after this. Alright. Here. We. Go!

 

With a big push, Radomus finally got himself unstuck and out of the gear. The bad thing about it though was that he got himself out so fast, he ran into Cain, accidentally pushing him off the edge and down into the cavern below.

 

I ran over to the cliff frantically.

 

Matthew: Holy shit! Cain! Cain?!

Radomus: Well now I’ve done it.

Matthew: You don’t fucking say!

Radomus: Calm down Matthew.

Matthew: Calm down?! You pushed him off the ledge! He could be hurt or dead!

Radomus: Please regain your composure Matthew. Look. -points down into the cavern- It’s not that fair of a drop.

Matthew: Wait. If that’s the case, then why isn’t he yelling back to me?

Radomus: Well, there’s only 1 way to find out. You ready?

Matthew: I suppose so.

 

The 2 of us jumped down below us. We both hit the ground. Well more like I hit the ground while Radomus tucked and rolled or whatever. When I opened my eyes, I didn’t see him. I started to freak out a little bit but I saw him up ahead. I calmed down and walked over to him. There were a series of stairs going down.

 

Matthew: You think Cain went down there?

Radomus: Well since there is no sign of our friend her, I can only deduce that that is precisely where he went. Perhaps in search of an exit. Now it’s our move.

 

Radomus bolted away. I was left alone. Knowing that Radomus was at least safe, I was honestly glad to be by myself. Now I wasn’t feeling so confused and annoyed being around him. I started walking down the stairs. It was quite the walk down but it was enjoyable. I reached a ladder and climbed down it. When I got to the bottom, I continued my walk but something felt familiar with this place. I walked towards the edge of the place and looked around.

 

I was surprised to see that I was in the same cave that I saved Victoria in. I never expected to be back in this cave again. I continued my walk through the cave. I had yet been reunited with Cain or Radomus. I kept on looking through the cave until I finally saw a tunnel leading to what looked like to be the outside.

 

I walked through it and was reunited with Cain and Radomus and also a new face that was standing in front of Gardevoir.

 

Matthew: Uhh… Am I interrupting something here or-

Cain: Nope. We found something REALLY nice here.~

???: Ahh. So you’re here after all hmm?

Matthew: Wait. You were expecting us?

???: Not at all! But that old man that came running by me told me what was going on. I’m surprised anyone was pursuing him.

Radomus: Pursuing him? Tell me. What exactly did he tell you?

???: You kidnapped his daughter and then brainwashed her into thinking she was your own. So to get her back, he got ahold of your Gardevoir so that you would release her back into his custody. By the way, what in god’s name have you done to this poor thing?

Matthew: Done to what? Gardevoir?

Radomus: Yes. What do you mean?

???: This Gardevoir doesn’t seem to care for you as a trainer at all. Isn’t that right?

Gossip Gardevoir: …Yes. I’ve… I’ve always been afraid of Radomus to say anything about it but… Adrienn, you’ll protect me from him right?

Matthew: Whaaaat is going on right now?

Adrienn: Don’t worry Gardevoir. I won’t let anyone treat you badly. I won’t stand for it. You’re safe with me.

Radomus: -chuckles for a bit- So that’s how it is. Interesting. Very interesting.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hmph! I’ve always hated being with him!

Cain: But back at the castle, you seemed so happy.

Matthew: And really lively.

Gossip Gardevoir: I’m forced to fake my happiness so no 1 knows how horrible he treats me! I am supposed to be in perfect harmony with my trainer! But what any Pokemon can do that with a trainer like him?! All the horrible things he’s done to me… So neglectful and a liar! I even witnessed him brainwashing Luna! Poor girl! You all wanna know something? I was SO happy when El stole me!

Adrienn: And there you have it. You’re such a sweet Pokemon Gardevoir. I can’t believe he is your trainer. I won’t forgive someone for being cruel to such a gracious Pokemon. I will protect her, I will help El get his daughter back and get back his stolen property back too.

Cain: Stolen property? What stolen property?

Gossip Gardevoir: You know Matthew. Don’t you?

Matthew: Uhh… Not really.

Gossip Gardevoir: Lies. You have them!

 

With swift haste, Gardevoir ran over to me, picked my pocket and held out the Amethyst Pendant.

 

I was still confused at what was happening but luckily Cain was able to push the Pokemon off.

 

Gossip Gardevoir: But the Ruby Ring!

Cain: Give that back! That pendant belongs to Anna!

Gossip Gardevoir: No. Both this and the Ruby Ring rightfully belong to El.

Radomus: Hold on. Did you just say Amethyst Pendant?

Gossip Gardevoir: -sighs- I suppose this will have to do. Only 1 key is necessary to reach the aerie… Although I was supposed to get both of them.

Adrienn: It’s clear your guilty of robbery. Thieves and liars relinquish things so easily if they do not belong to you! Let’s go Gardevoir. We’ll get the other 1 later.

Gossip Gardevoir: Yes. -leaves the area-

Adrienn: Radomus and… Matthew right? I’ll remember those names. Do not try to interrupt though unless you plan on releasing Luna. -leaves the area-

Matthew: Dude, what the fuck just happened?

Cain: That was really strange.

Matthew: What do we do now?

Cain: I don’t know. I’m shocked that that’s how Gardevoir feels though. Radomus… did you really brainwash Luna?

Radomus: And how exactly would I do such a thing dear boy? What a foolish thought that is.

Matthew: Well you are the Psychic Type Gym Leader. I don’t think it’d take much.

Cain: Wait. How did you know he was a Psychic Type Gym Leader?

Matthew: Ohh come on Cain. I ain’t that stupid. The way he talks. The way he lives his life. But most importantly? He plays chess.

Radomus: Hmm. You seem to have some really nice detective skills in your head there Matthew.

Matthew: Uhh, thanks I guess.

Cain: Interesting. But come on! We should chase after them before they get too far ahead! -leaves the area-

Radomus: -chuckles a bit- Perhaps this will be interesting after all. -leaves the area-

 

I stayed behind for a bit. I checked out the big place in front of me. I had never seen anything like it before. I could feel that this place was very important and was holding some kind of secret. I then walked into the place and could see everyone else there, including El.

 

Matthew: Looks like everyone’s here now. Let’s get this party started.

El: No “party” will be starting here. Just your demises.

Cain: What did you do to Gardevoir?!

El: You and your unintelligible shouting. When you are in this sacred place, please do not defile it. It is insulting.

Gossip Gardevoir: I am telling you all, and especially you Radomus, that El had done nothing to me. The only thing he’s done to me is free me. Is it really this hard for you all to believe?

Matthew: I mean-

El: These heretics remain in darkness. Even if the almighty lord itself, Arceus, bestowed holy Judgment right before them, they still would not believe.

Matthew: Are you really all about the lord and savior shit? Not that I have anything against it but you push it waaaay too much in our faces.

El: How dare you! Gardevoir, Adrienn, come. The light. Ascend with me into it. -leaves the area with Gardevoir-

Cain: This whole situation is weird…

Matthew: Don’t have to say that twice. I hope we don’t have to hear more about this Arceus shit more. It’s bad enough that I hated him when I 1st met him at Serra’s Gym. Now this. Ugh.

Adrienn: I am so confused. I thought for sure that when I fell down here that I’d be trapped all alone forever. But then a girl, at least I think it was, was climbing up the cave wall and that’s when I saw El and Gardevoir… And then the 3 of you. I wonder. Is this some kind of secret tourist spot?

Radomus: With how prestigious this place seems and how El holds this place in high regards, I doubt that is the case.

Adrienn: Well I’m following him. -leaves the area-

Cain: Well now what do we do? We can’t follow them through that door. It won’t budge.

Radomus: If I heard correctly, Matt, you have a Ruby Ring correct?

Matthew: Yea. Ohh I get it. They used the Amethyst Pendant to get through that door. Maybe the Ruby Ring will open 1 of these doors.

Radomus: You caught on fast Matt.

Matthew: Thanks. Uhh… Cain? You ok? You seem puzzled about something.

Cain: That Adrienn person… I’m just wondering if they’re a boy or a girl.

Matthew: -sighs- You’re the only person I know that during a serious situation like this, you’d be thinking of a question like that… Buuuut that’s 1 of the reasons you’re like 1 of my best friends so I can let it slide… Although I’m somewhat curious as well.

Radomus: Well there’s only 1 way to find that out. You must ask them. But anyways, I think it’s time to access 1 of these other doors. Matthew, if you’d be so kind as to find which door will open?

 

I walked up to each of the 3 other doors to see if they would open for the Ruby Ring. Of course, with my lucky, it was the last door I checked that opened. I peered inside and saw nothing but some kind of circle on the ground. I stepped back out and talked to Cain and Radomus.

 

Matthew: Alright. I’m gonna go in. Seems like there’s a teleport device in there. I’ll go in and see where it goes and if I need help, I’ll come back. If the area is clear, I’ll come back and signal you guys to come with me. Soung good?

Radomus: Yes.

Cain: Alright Matthew. Just… be careful ok?

Matthew: I will dude.

 

I entered the room and stepped in front of the device. I took a deep breath and stepped onto it and was teleported to to a different place. I looked around at my surroundings. There were 4 statues. 1 had nothing on it but the other 3 had the Chimchar evolution family on them.

 

I saw another 1 of those teleporting devices on the ground but when I stood on this 1, nothing happened. I took an educated guess that these statues had something to do with this not working. So I went up to the Chimchar statue and read what it said. “Monferno always tells the truth but Infernape has aligned with the darkness.” I had no clue what this meant. On the side of the statue, there was 2 button of some sorts that said Light and Dark. I had no idea what the answer was or how this puzzled worked but I chose to push the Dark button. Nothing happened. I decided to go over to the Monferno statue but this time, I didn’t bother reading the text on the front. I just decided to choose which 1 of the 2 buttons to press. For this 1, I also pressed Dark. Again, nothing happened. I went over to the Infernape statue but this time I pushed the Light button. I heard a noise come from the teleporting device that wasn’t working before. I walked over to it and stood on it. I seemed to have guessed right with the statues and was teleported somewhere else. When I got to this destination, I checked the whole room to make sure no 1 else was there. When I made sure that the area was cleared, I went back to Cain and Radomus and signaled them to come with me. The 3 of us went through the 2 teleporters and came to the last room I was in before.

 

Cain: Hey. You were gone for a long time. What were you doing?

Matthew: The area before this, I had to choose if some of those statues were Dark or Light. Then when I got them right, the teleporter that brought us here started to work.

Radomus: Hmm. How curious. Well, I’d say we should press forward if we want to apprehend El.

 

The 3 of us ventured into the next room. When we got in there, Adrienn was standing there. I looked over at Cain and could see him gazing with lust at the individual.

 

Cain: -whispers to me- They’re really damn hot.~

Matthew: -chuckles nervously and whispers back- Dude, not now.

Adrienn: El and Gardevoir aren’t here. They continued up to the aerie. Matthew right? Please hand me the Ruby Ring so that you cannot follow us any longer.

Matthew: Yea. I’m gonna have to go ahead and decline that offer.

Adrienn: Didn’t you say the same thing about the Amethyst Pendant too?

Matthew: Well yea but… that was unexpected. You at least just asked for it and didn’t try to take it by force.

Adrienn: But… I feel like you’re not lying. At least you and the purple haired kid.

Cain: The name’s Cain.~

Adrienn: My apologies. But that El person insists that they belong to him. And he does seem to know a lot about them. Like how they would open these doors for example. I’d been wandering around down here just a little while and they wouldn’t budge. El comes here and they started opening up. What exactly is this place?

Matthew: Knowing El, probably has something to do with Arceus.

Cain: Why are you down here anyways?

Adrienn: Well I was inspecting the Grand Gates about an hour ago until I fell down here. Then I saw this old ruin. I have no idea what to make of it. Or all of this as a matter of fact.

Radomus: If we continue to press forward, I do believe the answer will become clear.

Adrienn: I suppose that brings us back to the ring huh?

Matthew: What you mean?

Adrienn: Ugh! Which 1 of you is lying to me?!

Cain: Well, I have no clue what’s going on with Gardevoir but El kidnapped her from Radomus and Luna wants us to get her back! Those 2 are pretty close friends.

Adrienn: Right. And then there’s that Luna girl. I wish there was some way to prove who’s telling the truth and who’s not.

Radomus: Hoho. Elementary, my dear Adrienn. Allow me to give you the proof that we are indeed the people that are telling the truth. -goes up to Adrienn and hands him a piece of paper- On this paper, you will read the ransom El had left for me. These 2 can attest that this is fact and not a forgery.

Cain: Yep.

Matthew: What he said.

 

Adrienn began reading the letter. I thought that he’d be more relieved but if anything, he seemed even more confused. Radomus didn’t seem to catch this though.

 

Radomus: So you see Adrienn, I am not that bad of a trainer. If I was, would I warrant the hate Gardevoir confesses, would I have followed El here?

Matthew: Welllllll…

Cain: Not gonna lie here. You didn’t seem happy to go at first.

Matthew: Yea. You seem more… uninterested.

Radomus: But yet, here I am.

Adrienn: -sigh- And none of this is making any sense. If anything, I am even more confused now.

Cain: You’re not wrong but hey! We’re gonna get to the bottom of it! Or the top since we seem to be going up but you know… Well bottom, top, whatever. I’m a switch. Don’t matter to me.~

Matthew: Really? You seem more of a bottom person to me.

Cain: Ohh? And why is that?

Matthew: I don’t know. I guess from all the times I’ve rescued you and you just seeming to be-

Radomus: I’m going to pretend that that conversation wasn’t just about to take place.

Adrienn: Well I suppose the only thing to do now is to find out together. Let’s all go through the Ruby door.

Matthew: The Ruby door?

Adrienn: Well you have the Ruby Ring and it’s the only way to open the door so… Who cares about the name? Let’s just get going.

Cain: Before we go, can I ask you something Adrienn?

Adrienn: Sure. What is it?

Cain: I don’t mean to sound insulting buuuut are you a boy or girl? Haha.

Adrienn: Ahh. Don’t worry about it. Not insulting at all. I’m neither.

Matthew: Uhhh, I’m sorry. You’re what now?

Adrienn: Well you know how some Pokemon are genderless right?

Matthew: Yea but you’re not a Pokemon.

Adrienn: Well despite that, I prefer to think myself as not being on either side.

Matthew: Well… Not like that harms me or anything. That’s cool I suppose.

Cain: I’m confused but also… a little bit turned on.~

Matthew: Ok Cain. Keep your hormones in check for right now. You can let it loose later.

Cain: Fiiiiiine. But then what do we use for pronouns?

Adrienn: Well I won’t explain every single 1 but for example, xe, xem and xyr will be fine for he, him and his.

Matthew: Are you saying that you’d prefer to be called by that?

Adrienn: I would if you didn’t mind.

Matthew: Alright. I’ll try. I apologize in advance if I forget though.

Adrienn: Thanks but I think we have more pressing concerns than my gender. Matthew, if you’d please.

Matthew: Alright but we’re gonna do the same thing we did back at the bottom, alright? You stay with them too Adrienn.

 

I walked over to the door, held out the Ruby Ring and the door opened. Just like before, there was a teleporting device on the ground. I stepped on it and I was teleported to another room with statues but this time they were of the Tyrogue evolution family line.

 

I figured it was the same as before. I didn’t bother reading the statues messages and just started to try to guess the right answers. Unlike the 1st time where I got lucky on the 1st try, this took a bit but I finally got the right ones for the statues. Tyrogue was light, Hitmonchan was dark, Hitmonlee was light and Hitmontop was dark. I walked over to the teleporting device and was teleported to another room. I walked out of the door to that 1 and looked around. I felt like I was back into the cave surroundings but higher up and I could see the pillar in the middle of the relic. I went back to the room everyone was at and had them follow me to where I was before. All of us walked around until we finally found El and Gardevoir.

 

El: It’s just as I thought. The door to the innermost sanctum will not open without all the keys present. -turns to face us- Adrienn, I’m disappointed. You failed to detain them.

Adrienn: I’m sorry El but there are questions that need to be answered here.

El: Questions? Answers? Such meaningless words of humans.

Matthew: So what would that make you then? 1 thing comes to mind and that is a religious nut freak.

El: Silence! This… is a holy place. This is not the place for trifles such as those. Do any of you know what is beyond these gates?

Matthew: Ohh. I don’t know. Arceus?

El: You insolent little… Beyond these gates lies from whose dreams our world unfolds.

Matthew: Soo… Arceus?

El: I demand that you remain quiet! But… you are correct nonetheless. Behold, o unworthy mortal ones, for this is the birthplace of Arceus!

Matthew: Yep. Religious nut freak.

El: It is known that the God of Pokemon did create unto the earth all other species. But this bares the question. Where did the divine itself undertake its existence. For it is known that Pokemon are often found on voyage from space beyond our reach. Here, upon our Earth, doth a meteor crash and-

Matthew: Blah blah blah. It contained Arceus. Cool. Could you move the fuck on please?

El: Child-

Matthew: Dude, I’m 18. Not a child.

El: In my eyes, you are still a child and since I heed our lord and savior’s Arceus’ name in all it’s glory, what I say is the truth.

Matthew: I’m seriously not enjoying your presence right now man. Just get on with your speech so we can get this over with.

El: Hmph. Much like how you are, how vile is it that the meteor should be buried here in this sanctum so far beneath the filth know as Reborn City. My Lord, I beg for your forgiveness for humanity’s sin. Ignosco, Venia, Defaeco…

Matthew: You done yet?

El: I ask you all. What if this door would open for us? What if… What if Arceus could be born… anew? We would be able to use its holy power but for what?

Radomus: From the ramblings I’ve heard from you just now, everything you’ve named is heretical.

El: You say this to me? You are nothing but a deceiver.

Radomus: It is ironic that you say that. Especially with that Pokemon by your side.

Gossip Gardevoir: I’ve had just about enough of your constant lying Radomus! Admit what you’ve done to poor Luna right now!

El: Indeed. Return Luna to me at once and afterwards, you will get your precious Gardevoir back.

Adrienn: That is, if Gardevoir even wants to go back with him.

Radomus: Cain and Matthew. You both remember how adamant Luna is about staying with me yes?

El: You fool! You brainwashed her! You control what she says!

Radomus: What a foolish accusation.

Gossip Gardevoir: But I know the truth and I was there when you did it! You, Radomus, are an awful monster for what you did to Luna! How could you?! Being your Pokemon was horrible! I hated it!

Radomus: While this has somewhat been fun, how much longer are you going to keep this up?

Cain: I’m sorry Radomus but I have to say this. Don’t you care about her feelings at all?

Adrienn: I second that. You don’t seem affected by what she’s saying.

Radomus: What? A Pokemon like that? Why would I care?

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh! He says such cruel things! Adrienn, please! Please protect me from him!

Matthew: Hmmm.

Cain: I don’t want to believe it but… maybe he really did brainwash her.

Matthew: I mean… maybe…

El: Radomus is a 2-faced swine who has no moral compass!

Radomus: Even if that were the case, better to have no compass at all than 1 that only points south, El.

Matthew: I don’t know why but that sounded like a burn.

Adrienn: Well I believe that 1 of the best measures of a person’s worth is how they treat those in their power. And with how your Gardevoir is talking about you Radomus, she truly seems to resent you. I’m sorry but I do not believe that it should be returned to you at anytime. And also, I think you should release whatever kind of spell you have on this Luna person and let her be with her real father.

Radomus: Well Adrienn, I’m sorry you feel that way.

Adrienn: Your tone. Your voice. That doesn’t even sound like a real apology. Are you really that cold-hearted?

Radomus: No offense Adrienn but perhaps it is better judged by those who actually met Gardevoir and Luna.

Matthew: So what are you saying Radomus? You want us to choose which side we’re on?

Radomus: If that is how you view it.

Matthew: Well then.

Cain: Urgh! I don’t know! You don’t seem to care at all about Gardevoir and certainly didn’t react when she was taken.

Matthew: Yea. He made jokes instead. Buuuut Luna does seem like she wants to stay with you.

Cain: But Matt, he could be brainwashing her. She’d want to do that under that kind of condition. -sigh- I can’t decide.

Matthew: Wait. So it’s all up to me?!

Cain: Sorry but yea.

 

I thought about it really hard. I thought all about the possibilities. But then I remembered something. Gossip Gardevoir’s ability to know basically anything I’ve done in my adventure. If I was the enemy of her, she would have told El some things about me for sure. I had my answer.

 

Adrienn: Well?

Cain: What is it?

Matthew: Look, Radomus is a piece of work and weird as hell and doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. But El, and listen to me speaking this part, I HATE you. Severely hate you. I hated you since I 1st met you back at Serra’s place. God knows what you have Bennett doing at this point. And the fact that you’re this religious about Arceus doesn’t make me like you more. Feels like you try to shove the fact that you love Arceus and will obey it or whatever down our throats and I can’t stand that. Besides… if Gardevoir truly hated Radomus, that would in turn make her an enemy of us and she definitely would have told you things about me but she hasn’t has she? So, my answer is simple. I choose Radomus.

Cain: Interesting. Well, I never doubt you Matthew so I’ll trust you on this 1.

Radomus: Well done Matthew. I am relieved that I’m not the only 1 who can see through this charade.

Adrienn: And now I’m even more confused. What do you mean a charade?

Radomus: Your reason for remaining with El is the accusations of my Gardevoir correct? But you’ve never met her. Ergo, you know nothing about her.

Adrienn: She’s right there though. She’s been talking all along. I can see why he doesn’t make sense to you Matthew.

Matthew: Thanks but for once, I actually do understand him. Wanna do the honors Radomus?

Radomus: Thank you Matthew. Ask yourself Adrienn. Is she really there? Maybe you can answer this El.

 

El had a smirk slowly come across his face. He looked up and looked at each of our faces.

 

El: So Radomus… you knew all along eh?

Adrienn: Knew what exactly?

Matthew: That Gossip Gardevoir isn’t the real 1.

 

Just then, the Gardevoir turned pink.

 

I could see the shocked expressions on Cain and Adrienn’s faces. In a couple of seconds, the pink Gardevoir revealed it’s true form, which turned out to be a Ditto.

 

Cain: Wait?! It was a Ditto the whole time?!

Radomus: Light and truth do not always go hand-in-hand. I’m sure our new friend Adrienn can attest to that. After all, not everything is that black or white.

Adrienn: What does that even-

Matthew & Cain: Chess talk.

Radomus: The lesson here today is that sometimes light can be even more blinding than darkness.

Matthew: Yea… I’m pretty sure everyone knows that.

Radomus: I’m just content that you weren’t silly and taken in by that dramatic confession of that fake Pokemon.

Cain: Wait. Is that why you seemed so uninterested?!

Radomus: Mhm.

El: Obstinant as ever Radomus. But I find it ironic that you would mention that word. Blindness. Look. Look into my eyes.

 

Everyone did. I didn’t get why he wanted us to look at them for a few moments but then it hit me. They were mostly white. Which usually meant 1 thing.

 

Matthew: White? Wait. Does that mean that you’re-

Cain: You’re blind?

El: Once but not anymore.

Matthew: I swear to… If you say it was-

El: No sooner did I undertake a prayer to the all powerful and almighty lord Arceus did he bless me with my vision. Because of this, I’ve followed him ever since.

Matthew: Gah! Stop talking about him man! It’s so pushy and annoying!

El: And now… I hope he lends me his power once more.

Adrienn: Lends you his power? What do you mean?

El: Are you that ignorant? Are all of you?! Don’t you feel it?! The HOLY energy that charges this holy place?! It emanates from the stone of Arceus!

Matthew: Yea. Sure. What you gonna do now though? Have Ditto somehow gather that energy and transform into Arceus? Pfft.

El: Why Matthew. That’s an excellent idea.

Matthew: Say what now?

El: Ditto. Embrace the Lord’s blessing. Take the energy into thyself! Opprimo Oppressi Opprssum!

 

The place started to rock back and forth. The light that was in this area was going on and off. Everyone watched as the Ditto transformed into Arceus. The presence of this being here made everyone jump back, except for me.

 

Cain: Ar… Arceus?!

Adrienn: How can that be?!

Radomus: I must say this is extraordinary!

Matthew: Fascinating yes but are you all really like scared by this? If anything, this is only pissing me off even more!

El: Aduro, Creo, Iudex… Mei Divinitus! We will silence the heretics! Let judgment rain down upon thee! In thy qualms, a new light awakens!

Matthew: No! No more! You know what El?! It’s time to meet someone! A different being! Something I’m sure you’ve never seen before!

El: Ohh. Is that right child? Fine. I’ll humor you. What is this other “being?”

 

I started to laugh almost in a crazy way. I let my head down as I did this. Cain and Adrienn watched in horror but also confusion as Radomus watched curiously. El looked unimpressed.

El: I’m sorry but is this weird laugh supposed to scare me or something?

Radomus: -talking to himself- I get to witness this in person after all.

Matthew: Haha. Ohh El… Wehttam!

 

Just like back on Pyrous Mountain, I could feel Wehttam’s soul taking control of my body but my soul stayed within. My eye changed to red as well as part of my hair turning gray. El looked on in horror as did Adrienn. Since Cain had seen this happen before, he was a bit more calm but still concerned for my well-being. Radomus was smiling at the transformation. In no time, we were both in control of my body. As what happened before, we both started to talk at the same time.

 

Mattam: (Wehttam) WONDERFUL! It seems that we are using this new form once again! (Matthew) Yea. This dude was pissing me off. Thought I’d show him this. (Wehttam) Ahh. El was it? YeEeEeEeEeEs. I remember you from being within this vessel’s body.

El: Wha… What is this?! What have you done to yourself?!

Mattam: (Matthew) Ohh nothing. Just had the other soul that resides in my body take half control of my body. (Wehttam) I must admit, I have missed this form quite a bit Matthew. Ahh. And hello there Cain. How are you?

Cain: I’m good… Still getting used to this.

Mattam: (Wehttam) And Adrienn and Radomus. Greetings to the both of you as well.

Adrienn: I… Uhh… Hi?

Radomus: Greetings. Pleasure to finally meet this transformation.

El: This is blasphemy! This is against the lords work! You mortals are-

Mattam: (Wehttam) You are also a mortal El. MmMmMmMm YeEeEeEeEs. You are no different than us. (Matthew) You make it sound like you’re above everyone and it’s really really annoying me.

El: How dare you interrupt me when I am talking! The Lord’s light resides in me therefore making me immortal!

Mattam: (Matthew) Just shut up and battle me, err… us!

El: I can’t believe you… What is a mortal to a GOD?!

Mattam: (Matthew & Wehttam) Well what is a god to a NON-BELIEVER?!

 

Everyone looked at us in shock. Even Radomus had a shocked expression on his face. We could see the rage build up in El hearing that sentence.

 

Cain: That… was HOT!~

El: Let the light… be revealed!

 

 

 

The battle was short lived. It only took me a little above a minute to take down this god. But was it really that easy? But then I remembered that it wasn’t the real Arceus. Just a copy of it. Everyone else came closer to us. The Ditto went back to it’s regular form. El called back the fainted Pokemon.

 

Mattam: (Wehttam) You surely did not believe that the power of a copy could actually have the power of the original did you, the 1 called El? (Matthew) Seriously. That wasn’t even hard. I had a harder time battling Cain the last time we faced each other. (Wehttam) Hopefully, you will learn the next time we possibly have an encounter with us. (Matthew) And hopefully, you shut the hell up about all this lord and divine shit for a while.

El: I should have known. As but just a false idol, it cannot hope to mimic the true Lord’s power. I was a fool to believe it could.

Radomus: Is the entertainment over then?

Cain: Hold on. If that Gardevoir was a Ditto, what happened to the real 1?

Radomus: Indeed. It seems as though it’s my move now. Gardevoir! Teleport, now!

 

In a matter of milliseconds, Gardevoir appeared behind Radomus. It seemed like she wanted to just hug him but she was holding back.

 

Gossip Gardevoir: Ta-daaa!

Adrienn: So, is this the real Gardevoir?

Cain: Sure is.

Gossip Gardevoir: At your service.~ Miss me?

Radomus: Of course. But we are not done yet. Gardevoir, if you would be so kind as to use your Hypnosis attack on this person here?

Gossip Gardevoir: As you wish master!~

 

Gardevoir went over to El who looked directly into her eyes. She started waving her arms around and soon, El fell down face 1st asleep.

 

Gardevoir: It’s a 1-Hit KO!

Radomus: Indeed. This case is all wrapped up now.

 

Once again, Radomus spun around very fast and somehow was able to change outfits once again. This time though, he was in a police officers uniform. I could tell Cain and Adrienn were both confused at how that was possible.

 

Cain: How… How did he-

Mattam: (Matthew) I have no clue. He did that before we left. (Wehttam) But it is interesting how he does it. I give him that.

Radomus: Right. We’ll take this culprit down to the station. He has some time to do.

Cain: Wait. If you could have had her teleport at any time, why’d you bother coming down here in the 1st place?

Radomus: Didn’t I say before? Luna had asked me to.

Gossip Gardervoir: Mhm.~ Could’ve escape at any time. But oh deary me, my darling Master, save me!~ I do make a compelling damsel in distress don’t I?

Adrienn: Well it’s clear that this Gardevoir is more lively… and a bit odd.

Gossip Gardevoir: And you! So precious! Saying things like “I will protect you!” and stuff.~ But I shall never leave my Masters side. He is perfect!

Adrienn: Phew. I’m just relieved that everything is alright… Apart from him… them? -points towards me-

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh yes! I almost forgot! It’s great to finally meet you Mattam!

Mattam: (Wehttam) It is also a pleasure to meet you as well, Gardevoir of the lady. (Matthew) I figured you 2 would know about this. That’s why I’m not shocked.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hmhm.~ I can see that.

Radomus: Anyways, you shouldn’t be so shocked. I asked you in the 1st place. Why should I be concerned when the opposing king places himself in check?

Adrienn: Chess talk?

Cain: Chess talk.

Radomus: El thought he could strike at me by using Gardevoir but he made 1 mistake. He underestimated her.

Gossip Gardevoir: Please please. Hold your applause and flash photography for me until we’re back in the comfort of home.

Radomus: On that note, I think it’s time we got out of here.

Cain: Right. Let’s go! Ohh right. Mattam right? Should we leave you 2 here by yourselves for a little bit.

Mattam: (Wehttam) If you wouldn’t mind. (Matthew) I’ll catch up with you when we’re finished up here.

Cain: Alright. Let’s go then!

 

Adrienn, Cain, Radomus and Gossip Gardevoir, while also carrying the sleeping El, left the area. It was just us at this point.

 

Mattam: (Matthew) Well, thanks for the help Wehttam. I know this was probably not needed buuuut- (Wehttam) It is no problem my friend. It seems we have been able to stay in this form longer than our previous encounter of this kind. (Matthew) I guess we’re getting used to this form. Which is good. Haha. So I guess you’re gonna go back now? (Wehttam) Indeed. Until next time my friend. Good bye.

 

I could feel his soul residing back into my body as mine took total control of my body. My eye color went back to its original color and the gray part in my hair went back to normal. I felt right as rain and went to catch up with the others. When I got back to where Radomus had pushed Cain off the edge, something bothered me. The gear before was not moving but here, it was. I didn’t pay it too much mind though and continued forward. And met up with the rest of the gang.

 

Adrienn: Ahh! Man it’s great to be out of there and above ground! I feel like I was down there for ages! Here I come fresh air! -runs out of the Grand Gates-

Matthew: Umm… I know I’ve only been here for a couple of months but… is something different?

Radomus: Now that you mention it, something here is strange.

Cain: Bgfjdevafvwdgskfqewja! The Brand Date- The Hand Fate- The, the Gland Hate- -gets smacked in the head by Matthew- Thanks for that Matt. I needed it. Anyways… The Grand Gate! It’s opened!

Matthew: You’re welcome. But I thought they weren’t working anymore?!

Gossip Gardevoir: It’s been sealed for years! And now it’s opened? Why?

Cain: I’m gonna go check it out.

Matthew: Right with ya buddy.

Radomus: Indeed, this is most curious.

 

We walked outside back into the city yet again. It felt like a long time since I was back here. We all looked at Adrienn but xe seemed shocked and confused.

 

Adrienn: What… What is this?!

Matthew: Uhh… Adrienn? You ok dude?

Cain: Umm… it’s the Grand Stairway.

Matthew: Team Meteor blew it up. I’m sure it’ll be fine though.

Adrienn: That’s not what I mean. Well, I mean it somewhat is but… This isn’t… I don’t… Umm…

Radomus: I say. Are you quite alright?

Adrienn: As a matter of fact, no. No I’m not. I’m so confused. Where exactly are we?

Cain: We’re in Reborn City and this is the North Obsidia Ward. I thought you said you lived here? Well not here but you get what I mean right?~

Adrienn: No. No no no. This isn’t the city. Seriously, where are we?

Matthew: This is Reborn City.

Adrienn: No… This can’t be Reborn. I thought this was… Where’s the center? Where are all the cabins? The port? And the- Wait. Is the lake… brown?

Cain: -walks up to Adrienn- Ahh I see. You must be new here.

Adrienn: I’m not! I’ve lived in Reborn City my whole life!But this is NOT the Reborn City I know! This place is different and not in a good way. It’s disgusting… Nothing like the quiet city I grew up in.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hehe. I think someone’s gone a bit Looney-tone.~

Adrienn: I’m not! This is… I don’t get it. What-

Radomus: Hmm. I have a possible theory on this. You said the last time you saw this city, the lake was properly colored correct?

Adrienn: Yes. A perfect, brilliant blue. That’s how it got its name Azurine.

Matthew: Hmm. Makes sense.

Radomus: Hmm. What else do you remember?

Adrienn: Let me think. Umm… It was very lush, trees all over the place, this waterfall, the Celestinine Cascade, umm… Ohh yea. At the corner of the lake, there’s a gorgeous little port and my gym-

 

All of us were shocked when we heard xyr say “my gym.” Incidentally, as soon as xe mentioned that, xyr eyes shout open and xe got a concerned look upon xyr face.

 

Adrienn: Wait! My gym! What if something’s happened to it?! I’ve got to go there immediately! -leaves the area-

 

Radomus: I think it would be best to not leave xem alone at this current time.

Matthew: Wait… His, I mean err… Xyr gym? Hold on. I remember there being a destroyed building in the Coral Ward. Is that-

Gossip Gardevoir: Someone’s finally figuring it out!~ But I knew it all along.~ We did have a reserve but it seems xe’ll be taking xyr position back now.

Cain: Come on everyone! Let’s follow xem now!

 

We all raced down to the Coral Ward and went to the destroyed gym. We saw Adrienn there and as we expected, xe was devastated. Xe was holding back tears but they were slowly coming out.

 

Gossip Gardevoir: Who wants to place a bet on if xe cracks at this sight right now?

Radomus: Not now Gardevoir.

Adrienn: This… is a joke right? It can’t be. This shit is too elaborate to be a joke. I know what it is. I’m dreaming. That can be the only explanation. Why else would all of that other stuff have happened? The religious person, that temple, Arceus, that person changing and then all of this. Yea. I’m dreaming. I have to be.

Radomus: But alas, it is not a dream. If it were, it’d be all easier.

Adrienn: Urk… I feel sick.

Matthew: Dude or… Hmm… Xude, I’m sorry this happened.

Cain: Wait. Xude? The heck is that?

Matthew: I just made a pronoun for dude.

Radomus: Silence the both of you. Now Adrienn, I want you to answer me this question. By how your acting to all of this, it is safe to assume that you were not expecting to find your gym in this mess correct?

Adrienn: Yes. It was fine this morning and now it’s… this. And thos whole city is just… wrong.

Matthew: Wait. Wait. This morning?

Cain: That… can’t be possible.

Adrienn: What do you mean?

Radomus: Allow me to explain. When this city was repopulated from the disasters that struck this place, Ame, leading the restoration project, designated several buildings to remain untouched. In general, these were historical artifacts that had been left from long ago or other places of significance. This gym was 1 of those buildings. After the city way restored from all the blackouts and earthquakes, it was left alone. I’m not sure why but perhaps she believed that the original owner would soon come to attend to it. That’s you correct?

Adrienn: Wait. What are you talking about? Blackouts and earthquakes? Those never happened.

Radomus: All of this is new to you, yes?

Adrienn: I’ve never been this confused in my life.

Radomus: Understandably. Allow me to clarify another thing. Before, you said “this morning” that this gym was normal to you. You also said that you arrived at the ruin around “an hour” before us. Everything I’m saying is right so far yes?

Adrienn: Mhm.

Radomus: I see. I know this is going to sound strange but I am serious when I say this. Based on your description of this city and your testimony of what’s happened, there’s is only 1 conclusion that can be reached.

Matthew: -whispering to Cain- I’ll bet you 100 PokeDollars that this will be over the top.

Cain: -whispering to Matthew- Psh. He’s crazy but not that crazy. You’re on.

Radomus: Somehow, you’ve been frozen in time.

 

Everyone, except for Gardevoir, stood there dumbfounded. How could anyone be frozen in time? It made no sense to us. I made a notion for Cain to hand me the money and he did so without taking his eyes off of Radomus. I’d be lying though if I said I wasn’t interested into how he was going to explain this.

 

Adrienn: I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be rude but every time you say something, I just get even more confused.

Cain & Matthew: Thank you.

Radomus: When you fell down into the ruin, how’d you get there?

Adrienn: Well, like I said, I was checking something out in the Mechanical Hall behind the Grand Gates. Apparenlty, someone had reported that they seen some kind of flashing light shining through the floor. So I went there and decided to dismantle part of it to inspect it. I crawled down there but that’s when I lost my footing and fell underground. I didn’t know what else to do so as I was following the tunnel, I came across that place.

Radomus: And you accessed the Grand Gates from the Grand Stairway?

Adrienn: Yea. Why?

Radomus: Then it’s confirmed. Those gates have been inoperational for years. In fact, it’s been about a decade since they ceased to work.

Adrienn: That’s crazy though. I don’t remember anything like that.

Radomus: Of course you didn’t young man. You were inside the ruin that entire time. In fact, you might have been the cause of their malfunction.

Cain: How does that make any sense?

Radomus: I only base that on logical deduction. Because xe was inside, the gates did not function but as soon as xe left, they began working again. But I must admit that I do not know how the method behind how that works. But it’s also the only explanation we have.

Adrienn: When I saw the light, it seemed like it was shining somewhere underground. I thought that maybe it was somehow the ruin. Perhaps both the Gates and the ruin are connected somehow. But I have no idea how that explains how it could stop time.

Radomus: If we are to believe what El has told us about that being the site of Arceus’ birth-

Matthew: No! Not that again!

Radomus: I am only using it as an example Matthew. I am not as religious as him. As I was saying, there’s no telling what kind of energy afflicts that place.

Matthew: Well… if that’s the case, maybe… maybe it was the meteor that he was mentioning as well.

Radomus: Hmm. The energy the meteor concealed inside the ruin might have had the power to warp the flow of space and time.

Adrienn: Well if that’s the case, shouldn’t you have all been stuck with me then?

Radomus: A valid concern, however, we had something you did not.

Matthew: Wait. You mean this? -pulls out the Ruby Ring-

Gossip Gardevoir: Ding ding ding! We have a winner!~

Cain: Ohh yea! The keys! The Ruby Ring and the Amethyst Pendant!

Radomus: Again, this is only a educated guess but perhaps with their presence and the energy they bear connected to the ruin, it was enough to unlock you from the spell of frozen time.

 

Everyone stood there looking shocked. It was crazy to hear but weirdly enough, it actually made sense what Radomus was saying, despite it sounding so crazy.

 

Adrienn: So… all this time… I was underground for more than 10 years until you all found me and I didn’t have a clue… But to me, it just seemed like an hour… This is just crazy… But now I feel less confused that before. That’s… not a good feeling.

Cain: So what are you going to do now?

Matthew: And if you need any help, just let us know.

Adrienn: Well, for 1, I am not just gonna leave this place like this.

Adrienn: No. Not just the gym. The whole city.

 

Everyone was shocked but also confused by this. How was xe going to fix the entire cite? It had been 10 years since things started to go downhill and there didn’t seem to be a chance of it getting any better.

 

Radomus: You really intend to fix the whole city?

Adrienn: Yes. I love this city too much to just leave it like this. I might as well just leave if I didn’t care about it. Is there someone in charge I can talk to?

Cain: Wellllll, the cham- er, I mean Ame is usually around the Grand Hall at the city center.

Matthew: Yea. She’s really cool and nice. And she wants the city to get better too. I’m sure she’ll love the help.

Adrienn: Is that so? Well thanks. And especially for getting me out of there too… if that is indeed what happened.

Gossip Gardevoir: Well good luck fixing the whole city.~ Maybe you’ll want time to stop again so you can fix it faster. Hehehe.~

Adrienn: Haha. Yea. Maybe I will. See you all around.

 

With that, Adrienn left to go meet up with Ame.

 

It kind of felt weird not to have him around but if he could indeed turn the city around and make it how it was before, I would be alright with that. Radomus finally broke the silence.

 

Radomus: Well that turned out to be an ordeal.

Matthew: You’re telling me. Man.

Cain: It was cool to meet Adrienn and Wehttam again. Still gotta get used to you transforming though.

Matthew: Yea. That was still weird for me too but you know. Guess I gotta practice it.

Gossip Gardevoir: This is most definitely gonna make a niiiice juicy story.

Matthew: I’m not the only 1 that find that creepy right?

Radomus: In any case, Gardevoir, before you headline any news, I shall be needing you. After all, these 2 still have Gym Battles to wager.

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh! I almost forgot about that.~ Well if that’s how it is, so be it.~

Radomus: Gardevoir, teleport us all back to the castle.

We were teleported back to the castle but for some reason, I was outside while everyone else was teleported inside the. Or at least I had hoped so. I walked in and thankfully, everyone was in there. But I had noticed something. Radomus had changed hats yet again.

 

 

Matthew: -whispering to Cain- Did he just-

Cain: -whispering back to me- Yes but he was like that when we got here. I have no clue how that happened!

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh Luna darling.~ We’re home.~

 

 

Luna came running into the room along with Laura. We both smiled at each other.

 

Luna was so overjoyed but also relieved that her good friend was back. Gossip Gardevoir went up to Luna as Laura came down to me. We both embraced in a hug.

 

Laura: I’m so glad you’re back Matt. Are you ok? What happened?

Matthew: I’m fine. We followed that person down to some kind of chasm, met a person who considers themselves neither female or male, learned that he has been stuck in time, also learn that he’s the Reborn’s own Fairy Type Gym Leader and I defeated, albeit a fake 1, Arceus.

 

 

Laura stood there looking at me dumbfounded. I must admit, if someone threw all of that in my face as soon as they came back from somewhere, I’d be pretty shocked too.

 

 

Cain: Ohh yea. The Grand Gates are working again.~

Laura: Wait. What?! Are you serious?!

Radomus: We are. They are indeed back into working order.

Luna: Ohh Gardevoir! You’re back! I’ve missed you!

Gossip Gardevoir: But of course my dear.~

Luna: Never go off disappearing like that again.

Gossip Gardevoir: But dear Luna, what’s a girl without a little excitement in her life, eh? Besides, my Gallade-in-shining armor came all the way to save me!

Matthew: Uhh… And me and Cain?

Cain: Yea! Not like we didn’t do nothing.

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh I know but master here is my TRUE hero!~

Radomus: Well in any case, there was hardly much resuing involved.

Luna: Ohh master! You are without a doubt so wonderful! I am pleased to be in service to you.

Cain: Hmm? Ooo.~ That sounds very-

Matthew: Cain! Not now!

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh my!~

Radomus: Now, now. Everyone please calm down. We mustn’t get ahead of ourselves. I am just a humble Gallade.

Cain: That reminds me. Why do you keep switching silly hats?

Matthew: -thinking to myself- Thank you for asking.

Radomus: Why, these hats aren’t silly. Your words hurt me. I only dress for the job.

 

 

As soon as he got done saying those words, he did his hat changing routine. But to be honest, this look suited him more. He looked like himself.

 

Radomus: Ahh. But this 1 defines me I must say.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hmhmhm.~ The peasantry knows nothing of my master’s divine fashion sense.

Luna: I also find them amusing. Don’t you all agree?

Laura: Well…

Matthew: They are amusing. Although, with how I’m thinking about it, I don’t know that’s a good thing or not.

Radomus: Well, I have somebody to introduce to you all. Matt, Laura, if you both would be so kind as to step out of the way?

Matthew: Ohh. Uhh, sure.

Laura: Yea.

 

 

The 2 of us went to the other side of the entrance way. When the person came in, Cain, Luna and myself were shocked and confused at who had come in. It was El but his attire was way different than what I had seen him wearing in the chasm. He went from wearing a somewhat tan robe to something of what a butler would wear.

 

Luna: That’s-

Cain: Huh?!

Matthew: You kidding me?

Laura: Wait. He looks… familiar.

Radomus: Everybody, please meet the estate’s newest butler, Elias!

Elias: I am pleased to serve.

Matthew: Dude, what the hell is going on?

Laura: Wait. I know him! He’s 1 of the-

Cain: Why is he here?!

Elias: Let me know if there is anything I can do to make your stay here more comfortable.

 

 

Luna looked at her possible real father and backed up in fear. I didn’t blame her. I would feel the same way if I was in her situation.

 

 

Luna: Master… Why?

Radomus: Hoho. Why Luna, you seem as if you had just seen a ghost.

Cain: Well her father is standing right there!

Luna: I am confused by your words. Master here is my only father.

Radomus: It is rather strange to accuse our new attendant of such a thing. Elias have you-

Matthew: Look, I don’t know what you’re trying to do here or what you’re gonna ask him but this is still fucked up. At least try not to have them in the same room.

Luna: I’m sorry master but I have to agree with him… I wish to leave. I beg your pardon.

Gossip Gardevoir: Luna dear! Wait!

 

 

Luna ran off with Gardevoir following her. I kind of felt bad for her. She spent all of this time trying to get away from her father for some reason and now her adoptive father somehow managed to make him a butler and come here to live with her. That was madness.

 

 

Elias: Master, have I offended?

Radomus: N-

Matthew: Yes! Very much so!

Radomus: As I was saying, no. It is no fault of your own. Ahh. Yes. I’ve almost forgot. I understand you have procured a certain rare object?

Elias: Ahh yes. I know what you mean. Speak no further. Here it is. -hands the Amethyst Pendant to Radomus-

Cain: You know, I completely forgot he had that.

Radomus: That will be all. You are dismissed.

Elias: Thank you my lord. -leaves the room-

 

Cain: So now that you have Anna’s Pendant, can we-

Radomus: Before you finish that sentence, I must ask. How exactly did the 3 of you acquire this object?

Laura: Well it’s from a friend of ours.

Matthew: Team Meteor took and we got it back but then El or Elias or whatever his name is took it and well now you have it.

Radomus: I see. Such a… precious thing to lose…

Cain: Are you ok Radomus?

Radomus: Yes yes. I’m fine. But believe me, none could understand better than I.

Cain: Good. Soooo can you give that back to us now?

Radomus: I would but I insist, with all my greatest sympathy, that I refuse to give it back yet.

Matthew: Aaannnd that would be for what reason?

Radomus: I know this is may cause alarm but I implore you all to just believe in faith alone.

Laura: But…

Radomus: I promise you all. I will keep this piece of jewelry and you will not find your trust abused.

 

 

I thought about it for a moment. Radomus was a very, VERY weird individual but he didn’t seem to be the type that would be evil.

 

 

Cain: I’m not sure.

Laura: It is Ann-

Matthew: Alright.

Cain: Wait. What?

Laura: Are you sure babe?

Matthew: He’s not a bad dude. Maybe severely weird, and not the kind I like, but he’s not a bad guy. So sure. You can hold onto it for a while.

Radomus: Thank you Matthew. Now with that out of the way, I do believe we have a gym challenge to get to, correct Matthew?

Matthew: Ohh yea. I almost forgot that you’re a Gym Leader with everything that’s happened so far. Yea. Let’s do this!

Radomus: Very good. I shall be awaiting your arrival at my arena. The doors to the Challenge Hall are opened. Your friend and girlfriend are allowed to watch from the rafters. Best of luck to you. -leaves the area-

 

Laura: Matt, are you really sure that was a good idea?

Cain: Yea. I’m starting to think it was a bad idea siding with him.

Matthew: Trust me. I get what you 2 are saying but he really doesn’t seem like a bad guy.

Cain: Yea… I suppose you’re right. Although, I’m curious about something.

Laura: What’s that?

Cain: Well Elias had the pendant and now he’s here as a butler? I mean why would he agree to do that?

 

 

I got a chill up my spine when I heard that. Cain was right. Elias did all of that to try to get the keys and his daughter back and now all of a sudden he’s just decided to work as a butler for Radomus? Which he seemed to have a huge disgust towards. I started questioning if I had made the right decision. I couldn’t let Cain and Laura see me like this though. I regained my composure.

 

 

Matthew: Ohh. I’m… I’m sure something made him see the light and he changed his mind and whatnot. Haha…

Laura: Yea but Matt, he’s also a-

Matthew: Nevermind that now. I got a Gym Battle waiting for me.

Cain: Alright. Come on Laura. We’ll go wait for Matthew.

Laura: Well… alright. Good luck Matt.

Matthew: Thanks babe.

 

 

We hugged and kissed and the 2 of them left. I stood there with my worried face back on again. I knew I had to shake this feeling off though or else I wouldn’t be able to beat Radomus in our Gym Battle. I calmed myself and walked into the room Radomus said was now available to me. When I walked in, I was puzzled by what I saw. It looked like a chess board with all the chess pieces set up.

 

I looked up and saw a balcony there and Radomus and Gardevoir were there.

 

Radomus: Greetings Matthew! Welcome to the puzzle room. Or rooms I should say.

Gossip Gardevoir: Helllllooo everyone! We are live here at the Vanhanen Castle Gym with the challenger, Matthew.

Matthew: Wait. Is this being televise-

Gossip Gardevoir: Today, Matthew hopes to earn his 8th official Reborn League badge! Will he fly or will he fall?!

Matthew: Well I mean I’ve been undefeated so far so-

Gossip Gardevoir: We’ll find out soon enough.~ But! The gym battle alone is not only trial that yet awaits our eager hero!

Matthew: Let me guess. It has to do with chess board thing?

Radomus: You are quite right my dear challenger. Allow me to explain.

Gossip Gardevoir: As you may have remembered, master here is a world-renowned master of chess.~

Radomus: I say Gardevoir. I would like to do the honor of explaining this to our challenger.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hehehe. Oops. Got carried away.~

Matthew: Ohh brother. Can I know before I grow old?

Radomus: Patience young 1. Now, you undoubtedly that the floor is arranged like a chess board.

Matthew: Yes. I know.

Radomus: It’d be unfair for me to ask you to face me in a game of chess.

Matthew: Well considering I have no idea how to play this game, you’d be correct.

Radomus: This maybe harder than usual then.

Matthew: Greeeaaat.

Radomus: Nonetheless, you must obey the rules of each chess piece and arrange the pieces in such a way that I will be placed in checkmate. Good news for you though is that I may not move my pieces. Bad news though is that you may not capture them. You have an infinite number of turns to find the solution of checkmate.

Matthew: Well… I suppose that’ll be easier but I still have no clue what I’m doing.

Radomus: When you think the solution is correct, come up to the door and I shall see if you have the pieces in the right order. And if you are victorious, you may proceed. Best of luck to you Matthew.

Matthew: Yea… Thanks. -thinking to myself- Ohh man. I have NO clue how to move these pieces or how to do checkmate. -sigh- It’s ok Matthew. It can’t be that hard right? I can do this. I’ll be ok.

 

 

Before I started the puzzle, I noticed the computer that’s connected to the Grand Hall to the side of me. I hadn’t talked to Ame in a long time and I thought I’d also get to learn some things about Radomus and his gym. I walked over to it and pressed the button. In no time, Ame’s face popped up on screen.

 

Matthew: Hey Ame. What’s up? Been a while huh?

Ame: Hmm? Ohh Matthew! What’s up? It has been a while. Was worried something might have happened to you.

Matthew: Naw. I’m totally fine.

Ame: That’s good. So it seems you’re about to challenge Radomus this time huh?

Matthew: Yea. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ame: Hmm. Well Radomus is 1 of the Gym Leaders that likes to battle in Doubles Format. He also likes to focus a strategy using Trick Room.

Matthew: Hmm. So he’s using slow Pokemon huh? Weird for a Psychic Gym Leader but it’s weird. Fits him.

Ame: That is true. Also, his team is bulky and hits hard so don’t let them set up too much. If you do, it’s gonna be a rough time for you then.

Matthew: Good to know. Anything else I should know about?

Ame: Well… you might have to be careful of the chess pieces.

Matthew: Uhh… Why?

Ame: He can move them around with his psychic attacks which deals extra damage.

Matthew: Isn’t that like illegal or cheating or something?

Ame: Nope. Just keep in mind that like any good chess game, Pokemon with high intellect or strategy-based attacks will do here.

Matthew: … Ame, how long have you spent around Radomus to be talking about chess so casually like that?

Ame: Bye Matt! Good luck!

 

 

With that, the screen went to black. I took mental notes what she told me and turned back to the puzzle that was before me. I took a deep breath and tried to solve the puzzle. I pushed the 2 white pieces to any place I could think of to get a checkmate but no matter where I placed them, Radomus would tell me that it was incorrect. A half hour went by and I still wasn’t any closer to completing this. As I kept moving the pieces, I looked up and I could see Radomus whispering to Gardevoir. I thought for sure he was telling her how badly I was doing with this puzzle. Suddenly though, a thought of how to solve the puzzle shot through my mind. I pushed them into position and finally, Radomus gave me the ok that it was right. I was so relieved.

 

 

Radomus: Congrats on solving the 1st puzzle Matthew! But I must also tell you another addition to this trial.

Matthew: Ohh no.

Radomus: Do not fret. This 1 I believe is more up your alley. Once you solve the puzzle, you must fight the king!

Matthew: Fighting the king? What are you tal-

Radomus: I shall see you at the end. Farewell!

 

 

He rushed off through the doors. I was confused by what he said. As I turned around, I saw the black chess piece starting to rise up. I was really afraid for a moment for what could have been doing that but then I saw hands grabbing the bottom part of the piece. It was tossed aside and underneath it was a person. I was relieved and then got what Radomus meant by fighting the king. After a quick battle, I went to the next room. It was the same as the other room except with way more pieces.

 

I looked up at the balcony there and noticed Cain and Laura looking down at me.

 

Laura: Hey babe. How are the puzzles?

Matthew: They’re uh…

Cain: Too hard for you huh? Well… I mean I like it when things are hard but that’s more personal.~

Laura: Ohh my!

Matthew: … Ohh jeez. What are you 2 doing up there anyways?

Cain: Well Radomus thought we’d get bored waiting out there.

Laura: And considering it’s been a half hour and you just now got here-

Matthew: Ok. Ok. I get it. I suck at chess.

Cain: Well I would help you but I also suck at chess.

Laura: Uhh, but I’m sure you can figure this out babe!

 

 

I felt down again. More pieces meant it was most definitely that I would take more time on this 1. Yet, just like what happened at the end of the 1st puzzle, I got a thought of how to do this puzzle as well. I moved all the pieces to their places and looked up to Cain and Laura for approval.

 

 

Matthew: Well?

Laura: It’s uhh…

Cain: I think that’s it! Great job Matthew!~

Laura: Yea! Nicely done hun! You did it way faster than the 1st 1.

Matthew: Yea. I somehow got a thought of how to do it and I just did it.

Cain: Well anyways, this is our cue to go back.

Laura: Yea. We’ll see you at the arena sweetie.

Matthew: Alright. Later guys.

 

 

I watched them go through the doors and then turned around to face the king, now knowing what to expect. I battled that guy and continued to the 3rd room. Same as the other rooms just with more pieces.

 

I felt confident since I solved the last 1 so fast. I looked up at the balcony of this room and this time, it was Luna.

 

Luna: Ahh. Challenger. How do you do?

Matthew: Annoyed but fine. You?

Luna: I am fine as well. For this challenge, I will be your attendant. If you need to know something, please inform me and I shall help you in anyway I can. I’ll offer you a clue. Here, infinite potential will be your guiding force. Aaannnd begin!

 

 

As I looked at the pieces, a thought of how to solve the puzzle came into mind. I immediately pushed the pieces into place. When I finished, I walked towards the door and looked up at Luna.

 

 

Matthew: Sooo… did I do it right?

Luna: Hmm… Lovely! It seems you’ve done it!

Matthew: Yes!

Luna: I cannot wait until I can meet you in the darkness soon.

Matthew: Umm… What do you mean by that exactly?

Luna: That shall be answered in due time but for now, master awaits. Good bye.

 

 

Luna left the room but her words weirded me out. What did she mean about meeting me in the darkness soon? The sound of the king chess piece hitting the floor snapped me back into reality. I turned around and had the quick battle I was supposed to have. After that, I entered the next room which was another chess board puzzle.

 

I was getting tired of these puzzles. I just wanted to have my battle with Radomus for the Gym Badge. This time up on the balcony was Gardevoir. As usual, she has a smile across her face.

 

Gossip Gardevoir: So you’ve made it this far!

Matthew: How many more puzzles are there?!

Gossip Gardevoir: Luckily for you, this is the last 1. You’re almost to your destination.~

Matthew: Thank Arceus. Ok. Tell me what you need to tell me.

Gossip Gardevoir: As you wish.~ Can you surmount the final trial?! We’re about to find out now!

Matthew: Is that it?

Gossip Gardevoir: Yep!

Matthew: Well… alright then.

 

 

I looked at the pieces and once more, the thought of how to solve this puzzle raced through my mind. As I was moving the pieces, however, I could see Gardevoir in a weird trance of some sort. I finished putting all of the pieces in place.

 

 

Matthew: Hopefully, I did this right.

Gossip Gardevoir: Has our hero finished the final trial oh so soon?~ Well, what a pity.

Matthew: NOOOO-

Gossip Gardevoir: You got it right!

Matthew: Ohh…

Gossip Gardevoir: Congrats! I’ll be seeing you soon it seems. My master though is the finest in the world. Do you really think you can defeat him?

Matthew: I think I have the power to do so.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hehe. Well we’ll find out soon.~

Matthew: Wait! Before you go, I want to ask you something.

Gossip Gardevoir: You’re going to ask me why looked so weird while you were doing this puzzle?

Matthew: Yes.

Gossip Gardevoir: Well… master told me to use my psychic abilities to lend you a hand with these puzzles since it was taking you forever to solve them.

Matthew: Soo… all this time, it was you giving me the solutions to these puzzles?

Gossip Gardevoir: Yes. I would apologize but-

Matthew: Thank you! I bet I’d still be on the 1st 1 if you didn’t do that. Alright. I’ll see you in the other room with the others.

Gossip Gardevoir: O-Ohh… Well you’re most certainly welcome.~ See you soon challenger.

 

 

With that, she exited the balcony and I battled the last king. I walked through the doors and could see a platform I was supposed to stand on. Everyone was there. I looked across from me and stared at Radomus.

 

Radomus: Well met Matthew.

Matthew: It’s ok Radomus. I know you had Gardevoir help me with the puzzles. And I thank you for that.

Radomus: Indeed. Then I do believe that if you are ready, we should get started.

Matthew: Hell yea I’m ready! It’s been a while since my last Gym Battle!

Cain: Goooo Matthew! Beat his butt.~

Laura: You can do this hunny!

Gossip Gardevoir: Ahaha.~ As if anyone could beat my master.

Matthew: No offense Gardevoir but he’s the 8th Gym Leader of the region. I’m pretty sure the rest of them could defeat him.

Gossip Gardevoir: Hmph! Why I never!

Radomus: Please please. Calm down Gardevoir. Pay her no mind Matthew. She can hardly help it. I do, however, wish you good luck in this battle.

Elias: This battle shall be a 6-on-6 double battle! Either trainer will be allowed to make substitutions! The battle will end when all of either trainer’s Pokemon have been knocked out!

Radomus: Ahh. The tactics and art of Pokemon. You know, I’ve often said that they are somewhat like the game of chess.

Matthew: Seriously? Right now of all times dude?

Radomus: Very well. I do believe that it’s high-time for black to make the 1st move!

Elias: Begin!

 

 

The battle was actually quite tough. It seemed we were both equally strong but in the end, I was able to squeeze out on top in victory. Radomus called back his Gardevoir. He closed his eyes and smiled.

 

 

Radomus: The end-game is ever-paining.

Matthew: What did you-

Radomus: Matthew, my dear boy. That was an excellent battle. A worthy victory indeed. You now own the Millenium Badge. Gardevoir, if you’d please?

Gossip Gardevoir: But of course master.

 

 

Gardevoir used her psychic abilities to lift the badge into the air and float it over to my spot of the arena. I held my hand out and it gently floated into the palm of my hand. I now had 8 Reborn Gym Badges in my possession.

 

 

Laura: Congrats babe!

Cain: Yea! Congrats Matthew!~

Luna: I must agree. It was a lovely performance. Both Gardevoir and you Matthew did well.

Matthew: Thanks guys. So I guess the question is now where do we go for the next badge?

Luna: Have you forgotten? I am a Gym Leader as well.

Matthew: Ohh yea. Sorry Luna. Slipped my mind. Sooo… we just gonna battle here or-

Gossip Gardevoir: Ohh yes! Dear Luna.~ Will you be facing him here or in the valley?

Matthew: The valley?

Cain: Where’s that?

Luna: Hehe. You’ll soon see. As to answer your question, I prefer the valley. The stones and shadows of the rabbit-hole we call Iolia Valley make such such an excellent blackground for a battle.

Matthew: Well I’m not sure where that’s at but it sounds like an interesting place.

Luna: You would be correct Matthew. There is no better stage than the shadow of death.

Matthew, Cain & Laura: Uhh…

Luna: Plus it compliments the type I use: Darkness.

 

 

As if on cue, the lights in the castle shut off. Everyone, from what I could see at least, were looking all over the room trying to search for the call of the blackout.

 

Matthew: Umm… Was that planned?

Laura: If so, it was genius.

Radomus: Well as far as I know, it was not panned.

Luna: I agree master. I at least did nothing for this event to take place.

Radomus: Perhaps something happened to the power. Let us exit this place at once. -leaves the room with Gardevoir-

Luna: Ahh… The darkness… Ever-feared and ever-misunderstood… I shall leave in the darkness. -leaves the room-

Laura: You know what? I’m gonna go with them guys. I’ll see you in a bit babe.

Matthew: Alright. Don’t bump into anything or get hurt in the dark hun.

Laura: I won’t!

 

 

Laura left the room. It was just me and Cain in the room now. It felt awkward and weird to be in such a dark place. I started to wonder back to when Radomus asked me to keep Anna’s pendant and whether it was right to agree to let him keep it. Cain broke the silence in his Cain way.

 

 

Cain: Well Matthew? It’s just you and me now.

Matthew: Yea… I know.

Cain: All alone… in the dark.

Matthew: Mhm.

Cain: Matthew?

Matthew: Yea?

Cain: Do you… Do you feel the moment?~

Matthew: -chuckles- Dude, really?

Cain: -chuckles back- I’m just kidding with you.~ But, I think I’m gonna leave as well. See ya on the flipside!

 

 

With that, Cain left the area. Now it was just me. With no real reason for me to stay there, I went back through the puzzle rooms, just this time with the lights off. When I got to the main room, Elias was standing there.

 

Elias: Ahh. Young master. Please follow me. I’ve secured an escape route from our assailants.

Matthew: Assailants? You mean some bad people are here?

Elias: Yes. This way. Swiftly.

 

 

Elias ran into the other room. I followed suit but I slowed down. My brain started to figure out how exactly Elias would know this. Then it clicked. He wasn’t fully brainwashed or whatever Radomus tried to do to him. He was still being himself. But by the time I realized that, I was already through the door to the next room. That’s when El dropped his facade. 2 people pushed me forward and blocked the doorway I just came through.

 

Even though it was dark, I could make out the outfits. They were Team Meteor. I looked back to El. I could see the evil smile on his face.

 

 

El: Well, as they say, checkmate.

Matthew: I should have figured you weren’t fully on our side. Unfortunately, it seems I’ve found this out at a bad time.

El: You are quite smart. It is unfortunate someone such as yourself would rather side with that swine than with someone who prays to the lord.

Matthew: Well, not too sure how much I can trust him.

El: In any case, I am curious as to why he would allow me into the estate. Perhaps he thought he had brainwashed me all the way as he did my daughter.

Matthew: Listen, I don’t know what’s going on between you and her but she clearly doesn’t like you. Maybe you should just leave her alone.

El: Hmph! You insolent brat! I shall suffer none to stand in my way! Matthew, I know all about you and your interferences with Team Meteor. Solaris has told me all about it. He also told me how he left you a nasty scar upon your face. Though it is dark, I remember seeing it down in the chasm in our last encounter. Does it hurt?

Matthew: Shut up. I’ll deal with him when the time comes. And you too!

El: You think you have a shot right now? I’ll let you know right now, I shall not permit you to interfere with their plans any longer. They have a devine purpose.

Matthew: Are you still on that nonsense dude?

El: Silence! We will eradicate the unclean city, restore the ruin below to its greatness! And to anyone who dares try to thwart that design, judgment shall-

Cain: Nidoking! Shadow Ball!

 

 

A dark ball of energy came through the doorway and blasted the 2 Team Meteor grunts in the back, either killing them or incapacitating them. At this point, I didn’t care which. The Nidoking, Cain and Laura came through the entrance.

 

Cain: Matthew, they got Luna!

Matthew: What?! -turns to El- Dude, let ger go and leave her alone!

El: She is my daughter! I may do to her as I please! And as for you, they should have gotten you as well.

Laura: Well, I was there to help.

Cain: Well, I don’t go down without a fight. Or at least some sweet talk 1st.

Matthew: Man Cain. No matter what situation we’re in or how dire, you always seem to crack out a joke… I admire you for that.

Cain: Thanks Matt.~

 

 

Cain and Laura stood beside me.

 

We were all prepared to fight. Well, almost all of us. After me and Radomus’ Gym Battle, the only Pokemon I had the was able to fight was Pistol Pete and even then, it was in no condition to fight.

 

 

El: Your lecherous implications only condemn you further. Do the 3 of you honestly think you can best me?

Cain: Ohh please. I’m not stupid. You’re attacking now because Matt’s team is all worn out from his Gym Battle.

Laura: That’s right. So Cain and I-

Cain: No. I’m gonna fight you alone El. Laura, you and Matthew need to get out of here.

Matthew: But Cain-

Cain: No butts!~ Matt, your team is in no condition to fight and you need Laura to get out of here.

Laura: But Cain, I can take him on. You’re not at his level yet.

Cain: It’s better this way hun. Besides, Matthew surpassed me a long time ago. So even if I do lose, it doesn’t matter. He needs to make it.

Matthew: Cain…

Cain: Now the 2 of you get out of here and I’ll hold him up! You 2 have to rescue Luna now!

Matthew: We owe you big time! Come on hun!

 

 

I ran out of the castle fast. Laura was following but stopped at the doorway. She turned and looked at Cain.

 

Cain: What are you doing?! Go!

Laura: You know about him don’t you?

Cain: Yes. I know he’s apart of the Elite.

Laura: Alright… I just wanted to know… Good luck Cain. -leaves the castle-

 

 

Matthew: -tries to catch my breath- What were you doing in there?

Laura: I just wanted to make sure Cain knew what he was doing.

Matthew: I’m sure he’ll be fine. Now come on. We gotta get out of here and look for Luna.

Laura: Alright. Let’s go!

 

 

We started running through the maze but just as we were thinking we were getting away, we spotted a Team Meteor grunt up ahead. Luckily, he didn't spot us.

 

So we were able to go back and hide behind some of the hedges.

 

 

Laura: Why hide? I could probably deal with them.

Matthew: There’s prob a good amount of them. I know you’re part of the Elite but the numbers would eventually get to you and you’d lose and God knows what would happen then. It’s better if we try to avoid them.

Laura: Alright. Let’s go the other way and see if there’s an escape way that way.

 

 

We got up, looked around the corner and ran towards the opposite way of where I saw the grunt from before. But as we continued, we could see another grunt up ahead.

 

 

Laura: What do we do? There’s a grunt there.

Matthew: Well… there seems to only be 1 grunt here. If we can take him out quietly, then we can keep looking for a way out.

 

 

We ran up to the grunt and stood our ground. The grunt came up to us. I looked at this person for a bit and they seemed rather different from the other ones.

 

Team Meteor Grunt?: Stop right there!

Laura: We’re gonna take you out right-

Matthew: Babe wait. Is… Is that you Radomus?

Definitely Not A Team Meteor Grunt: -smirks- Was that convincing? -spins and changes his outfit-

 

Laura: Wha- How did he-

Matthew: Not surprising.

Radomus: I had to wear this to fool them. As I said before, I choose the right hat for the right job.

Matthew: Yes I know. But right now-

Radomus: Although, 1 might wonder why I had this outfit in the 1st place.

 

 

I froze up for a second and I felt like Laura did too. Why did Radomus have this Team Meteor outfit? He didn’t seem like the type of person to be involved with them. Radomus’ voice snapped me back into reality.

 

 

Radomus: Quickly you 2! Follow me!

 

 

We walked up in between some hedges. While we couldn’t be seen easily, me nor Laura could see an exit and were confused on why he brought us up this way.

 

Matthew: How do we get away from here?

Radomus: Before I provide you the escape route, allow me to leave you with this.

Laura: What’s that?

Radomus: Firstly, you have heard of Luna’s capture correct?

Laura: Yea. They got her so fast, neither me or Cain could get to her in time to save her.

Radomus: Also, you must realize by now that Elias may portray himself as a holy man but his true nature has been made clear.

Matthew: No shit man! Can you get to the point already?!

Radomus: I believe Team Meteor is not the only shady dealing he has. I must make myself scarce and ask you to follow in my lead for I believe I may know of where they may have taken her.

Laura: Where’s that?

Radomus: 7th Street in Reborn City.

Matthew: 7th Street?

Laura: I think I’ve heard of that place. It’s like a black market basically.

Radomus: Correct. But if you can’t find the place, I think some of the gangs that inherit the city may know where it is. You will have to gain their trust though.

Matthew: So I gotta join a gang. Joy.

Radomus: Also, I beseech you to allow me to hold onto the Amethyst Pendant a bit longer.

Laura: Why? You’ve been shady to me since Elias seemed to be somewhat brainwashed.

Matthew: I’m sorry dude but I agree with her. Why do you need to keep it for a while longer?

Radomus: I once heard a story once about these keys being purchased from a travelling merchant.

Laura: Alright but what does-

Radomus: I wonder who it might have been? As we have said before, not all is black and white or dark and light.

Matthew: Please don’t do the whole reverse thing speech. We get it.

Radomus: Very well. Let me just say this before I leave. Learn to read between the lines. Or in this case, walk between them. Until then, farewell.

 

 

A staircase leading up on top of the hedge suddenly appeared. Before either of us could say anything to Radomus, he zoomed up them and escaped. Whether we liked it or not, we now had to trust Radomus with the Amethyst Pendant. We had no other choice but to go on top of the hedges and make our escape. As we walked along them, we looked down and could see some of the Team Meteor grunts.

 

Laura: I guess you were right. I didn’t think there’d be that many of them.

Matthew: Yea. Let’s just hope they don’t look up here. I think we’re almost there.

 

 

We continued walking on the hedges and eventually we made it to another pair of stairs. We walked down them, made sure the coast was clear and made our way through the exit of the maze. We were finally safe. We ran up a bit before stopping and taking a breather. I looked up at Laura and our eyes met.

 

We were both scared of what was gonna happen next but we knew we had to rescue Luna. With no words exchanged, we started running back towards the city.

Luna +1 (6/10) - Finally got to see Luna again. Idk how I feel about the way she talks about darkness and death buuuuut she's a Gym Leader so I'll put up with it. Unfortunately, she's been captured. Now we gotta get her back.

 

Cain (10/10 NO CHANGE!) - Dude... I just hope he's ok. He took on an Elite 4 Member. I have no idea how he is. Whenever I find him, I so gotta repay him back for this. I might even let him kiss me on the cheek for it if he wants. Heh...

 

Radomus -1 (4/10) - Radomus is starting to seem suspicious to me. Somewhat brainwashing El for a bit? Wanting the Amethyst Pendant for some reason and also having a Team Meteor uniform. I gotta keep an eye on him when I can.

 

El +1 (1/10) - I do not like him 1 bit and I know he's a bad guy... But... he could be right about Radomus and brainwashing Luna. I'm not sure who to believe here anymore.
