Darius opened his mouth to answer, but only silence escaped him. The question was almost too accurate and to the point. He looked on, mouth open for a second or so before closing it. He then turned away from him, looking forward once more and letting out a deep sigh.

 

"...I honestly don't know. I never really put much thought into it. When Helena and I got a chance to visit the...I don't remember exactly now, but it was on Z'ark, I believe. We got a chance to help with an experiment. At that point, I actually felt like I was actually doing something meaningful, contributing. Maybe...maybe that is all I want. To be someone relevant to the world."

Just to be safe he thoroughly wiped it on his cloak just to make sure if it was one of the poison tipped blades, it wasn't poisoned anymore.

"That being said, fighting doesn't always end nicely and not everyone is the most honorable out there. More often than not you'll have to kill in order to save your own hide. Taking this blade and using it to defend yourself means that you are prepared to end the life of the person on the receiving end of it, no if, and's or but's. If you aren't prepared to take a life than you may as well not even try to learn. So, take this if you are truly ready for that." He holds the knife on the blade, the blunt side facing inwards and the hilt over towards Emilee.

Emilee hesitated, her hand only a few centimetres away from the blades hilt. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes and took the blade in her hand. "You're wrong." Emilee paused for a second, opening her eyes to look at the knife. "By taking this blade I am prepared to save a life. I will use it to save my allies, and myself. I am a priestess and a healer, to save will always be my job and that includes my enemies. So I will do everything to spare their lives, I will heal them I have to." She turned her eyes to Myrdwyn and then to Belros. "I refuse to take a life if I have to. I will risk everything so everyone gets out alive. I don't care if you think it's childish, I don't care if it's optimistic. It's the way of the Goddess, it's the way I was raised, it's the way I believe in."

After the party had rested for some time, Madante and another guard came to gather the party. After a moment, the group was moved from the courtyard into a meeting room, where the guard spoke.

"Greetings to all of you. I, along with some of the higher ups, have heard Madante's report of the situation. Though your group did run into some unintended detours, you did reach your destination and investigate. And it seems you've picked up some extra members..." the guardsmen states, muttering the last bit as he glances at Madante, who gives only a sheepish shrug in response.

 

"Ahem! In any event, it seems that in a certain basement labyrinth, artifacts of old were present. While we're still looking into their exact usage and translating some of the texts we received, we can say with some certainty that they are involved in demon summoning of some kind. How these ended up in Kabumu we'll never know, but the fact that someone was looking for them was concerning. As such, a squad will be sent out to investigate matters further and attempt to put a stop to any planned summonings," he finishes, clearing his throat.

 

"Now then, your captain here offered to take on the mission, but a few notable individuals were unsure if you were suited for the task. Therefore, to remove any doubt, we'll run you through a little combat test of sorts. Though your lives won't be in peril, this will be treated as an actual combat operation, and you will all treat it as such. And with that briefing done, your opponents are waiting in another courtyard," The guard announces as he leads the party to a set of doors, leading into the courtyard.

Idei pulls himself onto Kite's back as the stallion snorts and fidgets, eager to be moving and in the thick of things again after the harrowing trip from Kabumu back to the capital had put him on edge. The lighter arrows that he had been relying on all this time are running low, and he wishes they had had the chance to purchase supplies before being ushered in here. He supposes that would have been too easy, though.

Rayne more or less absent mindedly threw her javelin like normal. Then remembered this was a non-lethal drill.

"Beau! Stop that Javelin!!!" she yelled in despration. After all she might accidently kill a man. Beau snorted as he continued on his momentum from the flying charge he was already in. lt was if he were to say "Lassie... you make me work to the bone... you're lucky l like ye." Beau the expert he was make short work of the distance kicking the javelin from the sky. and then trying to land so that Rayne could retrieve the instrument and go for another throw. Rayne reached down to pick it up as planned.

"Oh that was a close one. Good work Beau! You're so reliable. Now, let's do thi... where'd they go?" as Rayne went to give it another try and throw her javelin backwards this time... she realized her target wasn't there anymore? Where could they have gone!!? Beau looked down and snorted, sounding almostlike he was laughing in the process. He'd pulled his head down in efforts to get Rayne to look down as well. "What is it Beu... Oh." Turned out while they did stop the javelin from reaching the person... Beau had instead bowled them over. "l'M SORRY! Oh l'm so sorry. ElYAAAAAH!!!" Rayne screamed in embarrassment and spurred Beau to fly her the heck out of that situation.
