I know I wanted to use Spoink in my new Rejuvenation run but I don't know if it was worth torturing myself with 2 or more hours of Voltorb Flip.
Who designed the leveling mechanic of that game? It randomly boots you down all the way to Level 1 even if you reached level 5. It seems this is basically the same behavior as canon, so it's not an essentials quirk.

Once you get to level 4, the luck factor definitely starts taking hold since the math won't eliminate everything and guessing a, b, or c takes over. I would appreciate the 'juiciness' much more if it didn't boot me all the way back to the start most times and make getting any decent amount of coins an absolute painful grind.

At least whenever it goes to Level 4 or 5, and I don't fulfill the condition of staying at the same level (getting enough 2/3's until it equals or exceeds the Level count).......though if you fail enough times it still kicks you down even if you get enough numbers. On stages 2 and 3, it's generous, but past that is usually no.
From the comments I read on videos when I learned how to even play the game, it seems the canon games are a bit arbitrary on how far it kicks you down.
