The Weatherlight

Aquila shook his head to Freya's query about the wrongness of things. On the contrary, he felt great. "No no, nothing's actively wrong as far as I can tell. Lucine was just worried about mages stealing her cup for some reason and Tim pointed me this way when I offered to deal with it. But yeah, everything is just wonderful as far as I can tell." Aquila raises an eyebrow at her question about his status. It seemed obvious to him that he couldn't be anything other than okay. "I'm just fine, why wouldn't I be? ... well, I guess this booze tasted off but I'm pretty sure I'm fine... ooh what's that!?" Aquila seems to have noticed law trying to hide, which is why unfortunately for the precursor he was now rapidly advancing on him. -

Aquila waves excitedly, the last of his alcohol spilling onto him this time. He looks around for a few moments, before seeming perplexed. "Hey Freya, you seen any witches with zombies around here? Lucine was worried about there being some around and Tim pointed me this way.... But it's just you here it looks like and you're not scary or anything...." Aquila crosses his arms, perplexed at this development. -

At the phrase "beaten up by a bunch of zombies" Aquila breaks into a run. That sounded like an even better fight than just some mage after all! On the bright side, he's spilt most of his booze in the excitement so he won't get much closer to killing himself. Well, killing himself with booze. Zombies are fully capable of killing him with or without alcohol on his person. -

Aquila nods. "Come girl, before I regain my senses!" With that he marches off towards the power core, drink in hand before the small girl was able to speak. -
Arminius flicks the star girl on the head. "Don't say that. You just have a particular skill set where you excel. If you had been in the siege I'm sure you would have been one of the most valuable assets to the team, if not the most valuable. The only reason you don't feel as capable is because you haven't had as much experience as the rest of us. If anything, you're more skilled that most of us given how long you've been human."

Aquila makes grabby hands towards the extra bottle until Lucine spoke. He looked at the bottle he currently had before shrugging. "Tastes weird now that ye mention it but... I just thought that was how it was." -

Aquila's eyes widen as he brings the jug of suspicious booze away from his mouth. His smile widens considerably, until Lucine finishes her statement. At that he frowns as he gestures with the bottle, and spills a little. "Well that's just not right, regardless of whether you're a... uh... homothingy, you're still a person, and just a child at that. Why, if I see any of those magey types, I'll... I'll snap 'em in half for ya! How's about that!" Aquila pauses as his eyes narrow. He turns to Tim and points a finger accusingly. "You aren't one o' them are ye?" At this point they're all probably pretty sure it's not just alcohol affecting Aquila's brain. -

Aquila inspects the bottle, sniffs it, and then with a smile takes a nice long drink from it.. -

Aquila nods. After a moment he pats the girls head. "Well, if you're sure it's fine then I'll trust you. But if you ever need any help you can come to me alright? You may be able to fight but no one wins every battle by themselves." Aquila offers the little girl an encouraging smile. -

Aquila looks concerned at that. He wasn't the smartest, but he wasn't dumb. He could tell she was nervous about something. This likely had the opposite effect of what she wanted because now Aquila was only more interested in finding out why she was asking. "What happened? Did he upset you? Want me to go rough him up?" Aquila crouched to be on the level of the girl, raising his fists to indicated that by "rough him up" he meant, "Beat the shit out of him, though probably in an officially sanctioned way." Well, at least he means well? -

Aquila stared blankly at that question. After a few moments he frowned. "If you're looking for a drink, I wouldn't bother. I already looked and nothing was still good. Besides, aren't you a little young for that even if you're a warrior?" Lucine can rest assured, Aquila is still clueless. About a lot, but her talk of cups especially. -

Having nothing to do, Aquila eventually stumbled upon Lucine and... two someones he was pretty sure he never met before. If he was speaking honestly, if they didn't look like someone important (i.e. someone that looked like a warrior.) he didn't really remember them since they were probably a servant or something. That said, he was almost completely certain that he'd never seen the others with the small girl so he approached with confidence that he'd offend for real reasons rather than just his memory being faulty. "Hail! Nice to see you're back in one piece Lucine! ... You are in one piece right? No missing fingers?" Aquila says this last part half-jokingly. He was fairly certain her age and choice of range meant that she'd go mostly unmolested. -
"I'd follow him. With all the noise you guys have been making I wouldn't be surprised if something mean has heard you guys and is advancing on your position right... now...." Commander Slate chuckles as the intercom clicks off. What a cheery note to end things on. Stepping out into the hallway, you'd notice that it's noticeably dirtier than the room you were just in. Kind of makes you wonder why that is, was it just pretty clean from the get go and that's why it's not as dirty? Or did they clean it when you were dropped off there? Maybe the teleporter traded the grime and dirt for you guys? In which case that's kind of insulting. Either way, the second thing you would notice is that it's decently warm in the building despite an obvious lack of air conditioning. By feel you'd say that it's fairly Mediterranean wherever you are. Finally, you see a sign. Too the right it says is the Barracks, Medical Labs, Cafeteria, and other various facilities for living or experimentation. To the left is the armory, docks, heliport/airfield, and village. You get the feeling that the weapons cache is to the left, while going right would lead you too the virus.

As Poncio posed, he felt his old clothes fall away. Thankfully for everyone else in the room he was covered up by a glow, preventing them from having to see his lifetime achievement award. Next, he could feel cloth flow up over his body, meeting above his shoulders and stopping. Just by feel he could tell it was a leotard, which the others could see is a creamy white. Finally, a fairly comfortable metal corset closes around his torso before blooming into a dress of red and white, as a sheath and sword appears attached at his waist. Finally as the transformation completes, he stands and punches the damnable obstacle of metal and wood! ... Amazingly he doesn't hurt his hand this time although now he's elbow deep in the cheap door. There's a moment of near silence over the intercom as Commander Slate clearly laughs behind his hands at the actor now being slightly stuck in the door. After a bit of recovery, he finally starts to answer questions. "The wing you're in is the... medical wing. I'm not really sure how you didn't guess that, I mean, the beds and stuff.... I suppose it could be a barracks as well but those were a bit... difficult." You can almost feel an eyeroll at the next question. "Just keep breathing the way you are." Paul starts to speak before the commander interrupts him. "That arm of yours comes from some kind of... pocket monster? I have no fucking clue but there's probably something similar on this world, it seems to be fairly constant as a thing. That should allow you to manipulate and absorb water to repair damage, in addition to just hitting things really hard. Hard enough to smash apart rock I'm told." "As for you miss Orchid... I'm going to be honest I was waiting for you to ask because this is just too funny to me. So, apparently you also have magic... but it's based on puns around emo music, I trust you're familiar with that kind of thing? Basically, just sing a few bars from a song and think hard about what the pun is and it should work."

Arminius sighs at the question. "I've been badly burned pretty much everywhere the soul bit touched, and... I feel guilty about it. I shouldn't stoop to the level of letting taunts get to me but... gods, she just reminded me so much of a paladin in that moment that I just wanted to hurt her, make her think twice about getting anywhere near me and expecting to be safe. It's disgusting."

Meanwhile, across the ship... Aquila was searching for any food at all. Fighting made him hungry after all. He of course would also accept booze, but he had already searched for that and found himself wanting. That made him sad, how are you supposed to celebrate a good fight if you didn't have ale or mead? You just can't, it's just a meal otherwise. -
Arminius smiles a little as Calvera finishes her story and leans into him. He sets aside the chest plate he had made in favour of drawing the star girl into both his arms and giving her a firm squeeze, almost fatherly in nature. "Don't worry... this goes for anyone on my team but especially you. I'd sooner get interrogated by inquisitors that let you die. Even if it I was killed I'd come back through sheer force of spite." He is quiet for a few moments before continuing with a sigh. "Well, I say that but... I did something awful to Satomi when you were gone. We had gotten into a fight and... she was provoking me and... Ugh, I attacked her I used some essence to try and scar her and is just suddenly set her on fire, then when I removed it I think it took a bit of her soul with it and... I had to run away. But she survived and that's what's important."
-
Arminius smiles at the half hug. Sure he could probably just hug one of his minions if he really wanted to, but that'dbe both weird and not as satisfying. The sabotuers nods, a hand reaching up to scratch the border of one of the new burns adorning his face. "Yeah, feels like months have passed, although it's only been a few days... so what happened when you were gone?"
-
Arminius had been fairly busy, working on experimenting with using his essences to craft. Which is why the thump of someone falling got him to look down the aisle with an eyebrow raised. And then he quickly ducked back into his seat as confusion, bewilderment, and finally joy flowed through him. He took a moment to calm himself before standing to better project his voice. "Calvera? What are you doing here, I thought you were busy uh... exploding."
-
There's a sigh over the intercom as Poncio punches the door and realizes that while he isn't any stronger right now, he's strong enough to hurt himself. After a brief pause Commander Slate speaks. "Poncio, love the enthusiasm but quick detail you need apparently. You need to transform first. You ever seen one of those magic girl shows? ... stupid question. Basically, Strike a pose and just kind of let the legend flow through you. That should jump start it." "And Spook, I'm surprised at you. We're dishonest but we're not liars here. We may not have done your procedures at the base you entered, but we did have a full team of experts in their fields working on you all with thoroughly tested methods. Anything else presents a huge risk to our already low profit margins. As for what we'll be doing with the virus... it presents great potential for mutagenic enhancements to the human body when used properly, so of course we'll be seeing what we can whip up and then selling off what we don't need. As for your enhancements that body is much more efficient that your old one in terms of power requirements and such. But more importantly as it's simply a hardlight projection you can change it as you need, we wouldn't want you to be unable to solve your phallic obsession after all." One can almost hear the smirk in the commander's voice. "Oh, and finally that particular model is able to control metal. Ferrokinesis I believe it'd called." One can almost feel the sigh as the commander is forced to address the next person on his list. "It's Slate, not Slater. Seriously, people from these worlds and their bizarre names... Unfortunately Austin, you are a vital member of the team despite your... "stretching of the truth" on your form. You essentially have an ocular enhancement that enables you to see objects that you can interact with, like unlocked doors, doors you can pick, and most importantly, the location of the hidden weapon stash. Also we have it on authority that whoever designed this facility liked making puzzles as security systems so you should help with that as well."
