"THESE ARE BUT TRIFLES TO DOOM," The armored dictator waves his hand, and two identical robots march over to the group. Each one is a vaguely skeletal machine, its face sculpted after Doctor Doom's own mask and clad in a green cloak identical to his own. One of them hands Lucine a thick, metal-edged card on its way past. "DOOM HAS TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF REMOVING ANY INFORMATION YOUR MINDS ARE NOT READY FOR FROM THE DOOMBOTS' MEMORY BANKS. YOU MAY EXPRESS YOUR GRATITUDE NOW. "IMPOSSIBLE? YOU CONTINUE TO AMUSE DOOM, MOSKURGIAN. ONLY TWO THINGS ARE IMPOSSIBLE FOR DOOM. AND THIS IS NEITHER KNITTING NOR DEFEATING SQUIRREL GIRL IN BATTLE."
-
"HA! HA! HA! DOOM IS NO MERE SUPERVILLAIN," Doctor Doom informs the group, "DOOM STANDS ABOVE THOSE PETTY CRIMINALS AND SHORT-SIGHTED FOOLS. AND DOOM NEVER REPEATS HIMSELF. DOOM IS CERTAIN THAT YOU HEARD AND UNDERSTOOD HIS WORDS, NADER. THE ENCHANTMENTS UPON DOOM'S THRONE ENSURE IT." From a compartment in the arm of his throne, Doctor Doom pulls out a deck of cards and shuffles them with casual ease. Lucine and Opal might think they look kind of familiar because holy crap those are all class cards what the heck?! With some arcane gestures and what even their under-developed senses recognise as a ton of mana being manipulated with the skill of a master, the armored man conjures a simple, steel round shield from one of the cards and tosses it to clatter at Aquila's feet. "A SHIELD? SUCH IS CHILD'S PLAY FOR DOOM."
-
"NO ONE COMMANDS DOOM," The armored man informs the group, "AND DOOM SPEAKS OF COURSE OF THE OMNIVERSE. THE WORLD OF WORLDS. IN THE OMNIVERSE, EVERYTHING THAT EVER EXISTED OR WILL EXIST LIES. WHAT IS ONE UNIVERSE'S FICTION IS ANOTHER'S HISTORY. WHAT IS ONE UNIVERSE'S ROAD NOT TAKEN IS ANOTHER'S PATH. IN THIS WAY, THE WORLDS ARE CONNECTED. THE TRESPASSERS COME FROM THE VOID BETWEEN WORLDS, AND WISH TO CONSUME ALL. UNLESS THEY ARE STOPPED, THEY WILL CONSUME ALL. HOWEVER, THIS HUNGER ASIDE, TRESPASSERS ARE VEXINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND COMMONALITY IN. LOVECRAFT IS A SERVICEABLE PLACE TO START FOR LESSER INTELLECTS. "YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN BECAUSE DOOM BELIEVES YOU ARE CAPABLE OF ACCOMPLISHING THIS TASK BETTER THAN THE OTHER PEONS DOOM MIGHT FIND ON SHORT NOTICE. IF YOU BELIEVE DOOM MISTAKEN, DOOM HAS NOT YET SUPPLIED HIS TIGER PIT WITH FOOD TODAY. HM. DOOM HAS ENSURED YOU BROUGHT ALL THE EQUIPMENT YOU REQUIRE, BUT IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF A ROBOT DOOM MIGHT BE PERSUADED TO SUPPLY A DOOMBOT. DOOM IS GENEROUS."

You come to awareness standing in a grand hall, what appears to be an ancient, well-maintained stone castle rising around you, forest green banners adorning the walls. You look around at the austere decorations, and the distinctly odd-looking beings surrounding you, before a booming voice draws your attention to the front of the room. "WELCOME, PEONS," An armored figure declares from his throne in the place of honor, partially seated in shadow, "TO CASTLE DOOM. YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED HERE FOR A PURPOSE. CREATURES CALLED TRESPASSERS ARE RAVAGING WORLDS ACROSS THE OMNIVERSE. AS DOOM HAS NO DESIRE TO RULE A SMOKING CRATER, HE HAS DEIGNED TO LEND HIS SUPPORT TO ORGANIZATIONS OPPOSING THIS THREAT. YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED AS PART OF A RELIEF FORCE, TO PREPARE AND STRENGTHEN WEAKENED WORLDS THAT THEY MIGHT RESIST TRESPASSER INCURSIONS WITHOUT MORE DIRECT INTERVENTION. AS DOOM FEELS YOU WILL BE MORE USEFUL INFORMED, AND DOOM'S DIMENSIONAL TELEPORTER REQUIRES FIFTEEN MINUTES MORE TO CHARGE FULLY, YOU MAY REQUEST INFORMATION FROM DOOM NOW."

Mirri asks Armsmaster for his preferences for testing, and then gets to work. First, she melts and blends the iron, nickel, titanium, and bes'kar together; since they're already extremely pure thanks to his synthesis process, the smelting process is takes ten minutes instead of the day it would take to process mined ore. From there, creating a block and a thin plate is extremely simple. Cast the metal in clay and wax molds, fold the ingot three dozen times for strength and to work air and carbon into the metal, and beat it into shape. She places it in the tempering oven, and asks Frigus to cool the quenching oil as much as he can without freezing it before submerging the metals within. Most metals would shatter under such a treatment, but in Bes'kar it helps the crystalline structure that resists energy so well take shape. With those finished, she turns her attention to drawing bes'kar wire. She makes two grades, a thin one suitable for wiring electronics or weaving into cloth, and a thick one for creating rings of mail. Drawing wire is a long and arduous process, and bes'kar is a finicky metal to work with, and Mirri draws heavily on the Force to keep her hands absolutely steady and her focus unwavering as she works. As a side effect, it would become blatantly obvious to outside observers that she's been hiding exactly what she can do when, as she finishes with Armsmaster's samples and starts crafting herself a suit of Bes'kar mail with which to augment her armor (training resistance with assistance, as her resistance stat comes from her armor), she begins moving faster than an un-enhanced human should be capable of, riveting the mail together with astonishing speed. The Force guides her hands, and deep in active meditation, she doesn't notice her slip-up.

"Magic doesn't exist," Mirri states, "It's a label people put on sciences they don't fully understand. Or occaisonally," She continues in a much softer tone, "A way of looking at the Force." Having dispensed that cryptic bit of scorn and mysticism, she follows Armsmaster.

Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
DragonRage replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Taylor shrugs, gently places the Morelull on his shoulder, and starts heading down into the hole, Jet by his side. -
"Uh, sure, Yuri," Lucinda sets her guitar on its stand, and stands awkwardly, hands clasped behind her back to prevent fidgeting, "What about?"

Mirri consider her options. "Let us get these fusion reactors working. You don't usually see them this small in my experience, but you did say your specialization was fitting more power into a smaller space. That way, there'll be time to get what I need to work bes'kar to the vacant room." Plus, it didn't feel right to receive such a wonderous gift as a share in that much bes'kar without offering advance payment.

"Thirty-seven pounds?" Mirri's voice goes faint for a moment, "Iron to titanium to nickel to bes'kar in two to one to point one to three... Assuming highest possible ore quality, I should be able to produce enough plates for five suits of armor from that. I- I could have actual bes'kar mail. You only see that on the oldest suits. I don't have bes'kar mail. I don't think the Mandalore himself has bes'kar mail. Thirty-seven pounds of bes'kar... I don't think I've ever seen that much unworked ore in one place before! And of the purest grade too, assuming that nano forge works as advertised. I need an anvil! And hammers, mechanized and handheld, and coal! Lots of coal! Raise the carbon content, shape the metals. Too little carbon, and it rusts and crumbles. Clay and wax for the smelting, ceramic to cast rivets... You have to cast them separately, and bore the holes during the forging. If you let it cool, worked bes'kar won't take rivets. They just bounce off. I need- need things! Drafting tools, requisition forms, the toolbox from my ship... Bes'kar is the toughest naturally-occurring material; its resistance to energy and impacts when properly forged is nearly perfect. My people have salvaged and recycled for so long. All the ore veins are depleted. But this! This is magnificent! New things! I'll be the first person to work freshly mined bes'kar in years! And we could do more than weapons! Blades that never dull or chip, components that never wear... We must get started! Immediately!"

"Bes'kar from industrial processes? I've never heard of that being done, but that doesn't mean it can't be done," Mirri muses, "Your nanites are actually superior to anything I've seen. But I am unsure that simply assembling it would replicate its properties entirely. The forging process is crucial, and one missed step compromises the material. But if you could make Bes'kar ore... That would be quite useful." Mirri keys the chemical composition and molecular structure of Bes'kar ore into Armsmaster's computer, a complex, metallic molecule with a heavy iron concentration. "However, I think we might receive more immediate results from working on your fusion reactor design. I do have several working fusion generators; my X-Wing starfighter runs on one. I could almost certainly complete your design, or failing that provide the one I have."

"Wha? You have... and that's a..." Mirri swiftly aborts several sentences in a spectacular butchery of common grammar as her visor pans across the room, "No fusion, that's all- No anvil? But- Hydrospanner- I-" She straightens her shoulders and takes several deep breaths, enough so to be visible even under her armor and bows shallowly in his direction. "I... appear to have made several unfounded assumptions that have just been proven wildly incorrect, and for this I apologize. My conduct has been unbecoming of my clan and responsibilities, and I shall have to rectify that immediately if I am to represent them with honor in this and future collaborations. "My specialty lies in aerospace engineering, with most of my experience in modifying existing airframes and equipment rather than building from scratch. Though I could in theory build an aircraft or spacecraft from the frame up, I have never done so. I am also quite good at crafting armor, though I am used to different tools than what you seem to have. My teachers held that there were merits to the more traditional methods lost in mass production, and I have yet to see proof that they were wrong. Most of the rest of my equipment is variations on those themes; my ship carries scaled up versions of some of my armor's systems, for example."

Regi finds no signs of any attempts to hack the Crescent's systems. However, everyone with access to sensor readouts or a window does see the telltale signs of a ship emerging from FTL off the starboard tunnel. The incoming vessel is protected by a forward-facing hard light shield as it completes its jump, which suggests it's both an extremely powerful ship and expecting whoever is at its destination to be hostile. However, the moment the jump completes, the hard light screen flickers and dies, revealing a rather shabby Vanguard destroyer, an older model of ship being phased out with the war over. It's far more likely that somebody got their hands on a highly useful ship component, and decided to use it without checking whether their power supply could handle the drain. The destroyer is painted black, with an actual, bone-white skull and crossbones on the bow. Like, what the actual slag? Who does that? The rather shabby vessel sends out a hailing message, for a video conference call with everyone within receiving range. Those of you who pick up are treated to the rather dumb-looking sight of a pink-feathered elf in a rather stereotypical Terran pirate costume. His skull-adorned bicorne hat still has a price tag on it; 900 credits at the Bargin Barn. "Yaaarrrr!" He shouts at you in broken basic, with a spectacularly bad Terran accent, which he presumably thinks makes him sound more like a pirate. It makes him sound like an idiot with a head cold. "You best be pullin' up and surrendurin'! We be takin all your strawberries now! Yarrrr!"

"...You can't mass-produce your tech?" Mirri asks incredulously, "But if you built it, you'd have to understand how it works. Even if you're getting supernatural inspiration, you logically ought to be able to reverse engineer it. That doesn't make sense unless you're black boxing it with some kind of ongoing effect. Some form of matter alteration technique maybe? However you're doing it, I'd like to take a look under the hood, and am willing to trade similar access to some of my hardware. Maybe we can piece together some hardware that will hold up without maintenance from your powers."

Lexiel decides something drastic should be done to try to turn this fight around! Her aura pulses, granting Magna, Soryn, and Victoria 3 HP of healing as she summons her mighty Hypersonic Dragon and sics it on DT Warrior Battalion B. The dragon drags Magna to the top of the initiative order this round as it charges forward in all its hasty glory! The Hypersonic Dragon has 25 HP, 3 resistance, and a basic attack that deals 1d6 + int (4) + syn (6) damage, which it will use on the DT Warrior Battalion B every round it can.

Lucinda grabs her guitar, and puts the Simple Future Coord on first, then one of her retro jackets. She thinks the two look rather good together, like something out of one of those old sci-fi movies from when six inch screens and cassette tapes were future tech. Then, she heads to the practice room, humming exercises to help warm her voice up. That said, Lucinda's fashion sense isn't always the most... trendy and up to date. In fact, her new purchase aside, most of her wardrobe fell out of fashion decades ago. If not centuries.

Pokemon in Space [IC Chapter #03]
DragonRage replied to Bfroger6's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Would you like to travel with me?" Taylor asks the glowing mushroom Pokemon, "I can promise you new and interesting foods, adventure, and a say in the coarse of our future endeavors. As an added bonus, once you are keyed to an Aether Ball, no one will be able to act so rudely towards you as my... associate did. The unauthorized ball will just bounce off. I promise that the process is harmless." Taylor returns and sends out again Jet the Meditite to demonstrate that Aether Balls do not harm their occupants. -
"So what are these 'tinkers' people keep talking about?" Mirri asks, "From the forms, I assume it's some kind of engineering specialization, but I've never heard of someone getting a degree in tinkering before."

RP Discord Server: https://discord.gg/sWXPAuv You have all heard the stories of the Holy Grail, that mystical artifact that can grant any wish to the one who wins it. You have travelled to its current resting place in the remote city of Lincoln, Wyoming, in hopes of being one of the lucky seven, to summon the incarnate spirit of an ancient hero alongside which to do battle for the Grail. You succeeded beyond your wildest dreams, and called a mighty Servant to your cause. And this morning, the War’s official overseer informed you that some unknown guy has stolen the Grail and run off, and would you please do something about that if you want a chance at your wish? For those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, this is a Fate RP. In it, teams of masters and servants vie for possession of a Holy Grail, a mystical artifact that will grant any wish to the last master/servant pair left standing. However, this Grail has been stolen by some jerk, making things more complicated. Regardless, there will be seven slots for Master/Servant pairs. Players can play as both members of a pair, but if we fill this up and people are left over, teams of players each playing one half of a pair can happen if both agree to it. Each Master is a mage, though their magical and other talents will vary, who is sworn to keep magic a secret from the general populace; the people of Lincoln, Wyoming are highly proficient at repression and denial thanks to previous Grail Wars, but that doesn’t mean carelessness is a good idea. Masters provide energy and sometimes tactical support to their servants. Masters can be relative unknowns, lacking in resources but also low profile, or well-known mages, sacrificing anonymity for extra magical equipment and mundane wealth. Every master has a magical specialization, in which they are particularly proficient. Magic in Fate is powered by mystery, so the less others know about how your magic works the more powerful it gets. This means that more ancient magics and beings are generally more powerful, but also less versatile, as even their own wielders might not fully understand their own abilities. While only one master/servant pair can claim victory and the wish, pick and choose your battles carefully. If your enemies discover your mysteries before you learn what theirs are, your defeat is likely, and the more servants that are defeated before the Grail is recovered, the more likely it is that the thief will have enough magical power to cash in on his own wish, leaving you with nothing. Servants are spirits of famous historical figures, who made their mark on history and thus ascended to the extradimensional Throne of Heroes. The Grail copies aspects of these heroic spirits, and places them into seven class containers, which shape and control their power while allowing them to act as physical beings. Saber, a powerful and magic-resistant juggernaut of close combat, Lancer, a versatile and swift skirmisher, Archer, master of long range battles, Rider, whose greatest power comes from their mount or vehicle, Caster, a great mage from the time when mystery and thus magic was at its most powerful, Berserker, a warrior lost in the throes of unstoppable rage, and Assassin, a stealthy eliminator of masters and other weak targets are the seven most common classes, but others like Avenger and Ruler occasionally manifest. No class is repeated. Thus, for this RP you will be asked to submit a master, which you will be playing, and at least 2 servants, who will go into the servant pool. Once I have approved all seven masters, each will be assigned a servant based on their personality and my whim. Thus, by putting a powerful servant into the pool, you both increase the odds of facing a powerful servant in battle, but also your odds of getting a strong servant for yourself. Any historical figure can be a servant, as long as they died before 1900, but keep in mind that older and better-known servants are generally stronger, at least when they don’t cross over the threshold where power increase is outweighed by versatility decrease. No canon servants allowed; a list of canon servants is pinned in the discord server. Servants can be based on fictional characters, as long as those characters were created before 1900, but such servants tend to have bizarre and exotic special abilities. As each servant is only an aspect of the true heroic spirit they are based on, they can differ quite dramatically from the best-known legends of them. Additionally, each master gets three Command Seals, crystallized mysteries directly from the Grail, which both symbolize their servant contract and let them issue a single command that their servant cannot disobey. It is rumored that the Command Seals might have another purpose too, but since Assassin Hattori Hanzo killed every single master from the founding families of this Grail War during the previous war, before they could pass their knowledge on, nobody knows what those are. When making a character sheet, every stat has a parameter, from E to A, with earlier letters in the alphabet being superior to others. Parameters can have one or more plus or minus signs attached to them, symbolizing conditional modifiers. Masters cannot have any parameters over B, and no more than one of these. A parameter of C is average for a servant, so masters are more likely to have Ds and Es for most of their parameters. Note that a noble phantasm acts as though its parameters are two stages higher than they actually are unless an effect like Herakles’ God Hand, which works directly off of parameter values, is in play. Some parts of this RP are inspired by another RP on this site, Fate/Reborn, mostly on the mechanical side. It’s a very good way of doing Fate characters in a forum. Master Sheets: Servant Sheets:
