I'd take this a bit further and go for the ultimate challenge... The full handicap run! You can use only pokemon that are weak to the type the Gym Leader uses. E.g. defeat Julia with only Water and Flying types, then Florinia with only Ground/Rock/Water, Shelly with Grass/Psychic/Dark etc... Purely self-punishing, but also rewarding as hell! @Satoshi If you finish the run, we declare you unanimously the king of the pokemon world!

Oh, yes, I know, pronouncing names from a language that only about 15 million people speak worldwide (and is arguably one of the most difficult languages to exist) is quite a pain and I understand it! However, wikipedia also has the pronounciations! Videos aren't too difficult to record, the program I used only costed like 20 euros and license lasts indefinitely, so it is quite cheap (and also very easy to handle!). I always try to defeat the Leaders without using healing items, because I feel that abusing them to win replaces the necessary skill to get a worthy victory. And yes, Florinia turned out to be very easy, as expected since I had a huge type advantage! (apart from Ferroseed, but Screech took care of that!)

Yes, apart from extreme cases... I dunno about Fern, I wish there is a backstory and he eventually joins our side again... I'd never trust him, but it would be a fine twist of things! As for Lin... With her mindset and no-remorse, killing to demonstrate power, and various crimes... Yep, jailed for good is the punishment.

Yes. I don't think that she needed to murder all those Grunts and Cultists in Water Treatment Centre... Overpowering them was enough to render them harmless. Plus, I don't think that killing a Grunt makes you any better than Solaris or Lin, who killed some of our friends... Finally, as shown with ZEL, Aster/Eclipse and Simon/Tara cases, most of the Grunts and even Admins are just victims too, that joined Team Meteor to help their families somehow and ended up much deeper than they ever expected to be, ruining their own lives even more... Everyone deserves a second chance.

I like the fact that most of Gym leaders are prodigious kids though! And probably it is the same way as in real life, they have rating battles. When you reach in Episode 16 content, you'll talk to Ame in Grand Hall. Then, she'll tell you something about someone who went fabulously in his/hers trial battle and can claim his/her position as an Elite 4 member/Gym leader. (trying not to spoil you anything). So, it must be the same way of proving their value as in real life League!

Indeed, in my original run I went and bought Slugma from Game corner to defeat it. And in my second (shiny) run, my Arbok Screeched and Crunched it to death (see a pattern here? ) Thank you! Fern was a jerk who specialised in Grass types and kept quitting when he was losing a fight, the reconnected claiming he got dc'ed to start battle again, hence this character attributes he has in the game. @Orasha When it comes to how leaders prove themselves, all leaders had to battle Ame (or someone of esteemed value) to prove their value as Leaders. Amaria suffered amnesia after a real life accident, and Ame tested her skills again in a 6v6 single battle after Amaria recovered. Amaria swept with a Ludicolo... Proved that amnesia didn't affect her battling skills, and retained her position. Probably some of the older members of the forums can give us something like a list of incidents in Reborn that are based on real events.

CHAPTER 3: Through Grass and... Desert?! So, with Volt Badge in the bag (or Badge case), we decided to explore the City a bit more! After roaming around a bit, we helped a Hiker find a home in Lower Peridot Ward and got ourselves an Onix! It will come in handy for breeding Curse on a Bulbasaur later, and have a Physical one as well! However, I was in for a great surprise, after some casual battling with trainers above the Grand Hall! Then, we headed East, Florinia allowed us to enter Obsidia Ward, so we entered happily and went straight away to the Daycare. Fought the Jessie and James wannabes (as if they'd EVER be as great as Jessie and James!), and headed south... Proved our strength to Victoria in order to access the Slums and then just casually strolled among Pidoves, Mankeys, Panchams, Street Rats and wandering boxes... It was pretty much uneventful, so... VS VICTORIA After clearing the Slums and defeating a Scrafty-led gang, we got to Coral Ward, helped Cain save and ultimately catch an Oshawott, met Amaria, defeated Cain in the battle of Poison vs Twisted Poison Monoruns, went back to Obsidia and helped Amaria and Florinia take care of a PULSE Tangrowth, controlled by ZEL and finally released the genuine Daycare Couple! *huff* *puff* So many things to say with just one breath. Especially a deep breath of the Smog-contaminated Reborn City air! VS CAIN [BONUS: VS ZEL] Seeing our assistance and intigued by our strength (not TMX Strength, we won't get this THAT easily, cause game hates us and Cain wants us to run behind him like his pet first), Florinia invites us to battle her at Onyx Trainers School for a Gym Battle! But Fern is an a$$hole and raises obstacles to us, before allowing us to fight his sister. Maybe he is jealous that I fancy his sister more than him, who knows... Anyways, we storm through the weaklings of the School, another pleasant surprise arrives to fuck up Fern even harder for our incoming battle, since and finally, we defeat Fern quite easily, on our way to getting the second Gym Badge! VS FERN Finally, after Fern takes his "L" and leaves, determined to also begin the Gym League challenge (how can replacement Gym Leaders like Cain and Fern take on the League is something I honestly don't understand), we take on Florinia! Her sexy "robotic" talk disorients me, so I lose the first fight (I even tried to Venoshock a fucking Ferroseed, Florinia's charm is too strong), but in the second try, victory is quite easy! VS FLORINIA The squad used in the battle vs Florinia was: And, without further ado... The big battle! This fight grants us the second badge (Canopy Bade), which raises Level cap to 35 (!) and also, the TM for Nature Power, which replaces Take Down in Narcissus' moveset straight away! I sigh, as Florinia instructs us to go help at Beryl and Jasper wards with their malignant flora issues... More trouble is coming straight towards my face... But this will have to wait, since I've got plenty new 'mons I can catch in the unlocked areas, and some quite heavy grinding/breeding to do in preparation for the tough battles that lay ahead! But all that, in the next installment of this freaking poooooiiiiisonous run! @Orasha Till then, enjoy everyone!

It does, but returns items after the fight... You only gain item's effect for the fight's duration. Would've been too OP otherwise! Imagine stealing Choice items again and again from Clown Indra at Agate Circus! (was possible at one time, but Ame fixed it). But, it is my way of getting infinite Heart Scales. Good Rod at Tanzan Lake and Covet the Luvdiscs. Yes, Headbutt trees in Obsidia Park and you'll find them. Check this topic too for more info on locations of wild pokemon.

You want info on where to get them, or you want them traded to you? If you have the Igglybuff from early game's sidequest, just give it back to her (house at the left, right next to the gate to Tourmaline dessert), and she will give you the Luck Incense.

If I may suggest, Noibat has Frisk. And Butterfree has Compound Eyes (boosts possibility of finding wild mons with held items). Get a Fainted Butterfree/Venonat with Compound Eyes on first slot, then an alive Noibat with Frisk on second slot to check if the wild mon indeed has a held item. Finally, when you find a held item, switch to Skitty/Slakoth/Espurr, and steal the item using Covet. Espurr learns it at level 5, so you won't have to grind too much, only enough for it to hit the wild mon once. I hope it helps! PS: You, Sir, have some serious OCD, which drove my own OCD mad! (hate cats, love munching cheerios without milk, like crisps and dread the sound of plastic bags and aluminum foil exactly the same with with how you dread touching unwashed dishes.
